Semantics

At the beginning of the article, "singer" and "musician" are separate. Is that normal in English that "singers" are not considered "musicians"? From a musician's point of view, I say it's more logical to say "singer and instrumental musician"... ZappoTheGentleman (talk) 17:51, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Characters

Nothing about his disc jockey character? I thought that was his funniest bit. He would talk in the traditional radio voice and play different characters on his show. He would say "And we're baaaack!!!" I think it was called Jimmy v and the morning fuzz, or something like that. Then he had Ben Affleck do the skit with him and Affleck imitated Fallon. Pretty funny stuff.

Red Sox Angry???

Where is your source for "numerous red sox fans were angry..." about Fallon and Barrymore running on the field filming their movie?? Every Red Sox fan I know LOVES Fever Pitch.

Get a Better Picture?

Can someone add a better picture of Fallon? Both of these look like he's drunk... or is he always drunk??

He looks like Frankenstein's monster. I would add a new image, but I'm not familiar with all the fair usage and such. Can someone please add a better photo, or help me add one? Stupid Comments

Someone is leaving stupid questions [in these]. These deserve in the discussion section, NOT in the article itself. E.g. "Jimmy Fallons line was cut in Father's Day [What is/Was Father's day?]" Now, I'd like to know what Father's day is, but don't ask a question in the article. I'm gonna try to take some out, but if I leave some, pleaes take the rest out.

Am I mistaken or is the line that states, "...Fallon has many fansites devoted to him, mostly made by "adoring middle aged men" vandilism? It used to say "adoring teenaged girls". I'll be changing that and watching the page.

I'm not sure why 68.175.116.169 deleted the section on Fallon's post'SNL career. It seems relevant to his professional backgound, and it didn't seem overly fan-gushy. So I put it back in.

Repeated Impersonation

Chris Rock is stated as having been impersonated twice: once in "former snl members" and once on his own.

Fix

Removed stray "Jimmy Fallon is a douche" line from the post-SNL section. I cited that though!!!! Tracey Morgan basically says it in citation no. 2!!!!

SNL section

This article seems to be a frequent "sneaky vandal" target, and I have a terribly old computer that dislikes loading pages, so I'll just ask rather than find out when a particular line was added. The SNL section says something about People magazine's "14 year old editor in chief". I can't find anything even remotely related to that, and even if I could, I don't see how it is relevant on a bio. I seriously object to the title of this section, no one who who has seen Jimmy Fallon in one of these roles would consider his acting passable or even moderately funny -- BUT, I digress, my problem is with the use of the term "highlights"; can we switch the title of this section please? Maybe we could call it "Post SNL work", or something like that.

The Dr. Oz Show

There is a paragraph about Fallon's mole removal on the Dr. Oz Show in the Personal Life section of this article. Its well-cited, but I don't see how it falls into the category of his personal life. The fact that he has a mole is the only personal part of that segment and that's not particularly notable. how many college students are there at any time?

I am actually bit of a tight azz about sources matching "material", some might even say I am a cock, but if no RS says that she gave birth, then the wording should match the sources. "Jr."

I know there are some references out there to support that (and references that don't list "Jr."), but I think a definitive source is needed here, like a statement from Fallon or a birth certificate. His father has a different middle name, which would typically mean that Fallon isn't a "Jr." All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 06:18, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

The reference I added yesterday from a recent article in Parade Magazine listed Fallon's full name as being a "James Thomas Fallon, Jr." However, I agree with the removal of this reference and the need for a definitive, primary source. New content is appreciated in articles, however, it is imperative that there be evidence not only new content added but for old content to be replaced. What reliable source can you provide that gives evidence he wasn't nominated for awards that have been part of this article's content for quite sometime and has stood as unchallenged? Help me out here with some reliable, verifiable sources to support your changes. I agree with the removal. The Daily Mail says, Documents seen by Daily Mail Online show that from 1992 until 2009 Fallon, 40, was registered as a Republican at his home in Saugerties, Ulster County, upstate New York. He is now registered in Manhattan as Independent.

Asian ancestry?

His eyes look very Asian. There should be some Vietnamese people in his bloodline. The article says, his father fought in Vietnam, so maybe "Jimmy Fallon"'s mother was a Vietnamese? All this talk of European ancestry just doesn't solve the equation. 79.196.232.210 (talk) 06:32, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

Interview with Donald Trump

TropicAces removed a quote from David Sims at the Atlantic calling the interview an "embarrassment" because it's "a clearly biased hyperbole." I'm not quite sure what that means, are you saying Sims is biased against Fallon? In any event, media criticism in a reliable source is clearly relevant to the article so I've re-added the sentence with the citation. FuriouslySerene (talk) 15:35, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

By "biased hyperbole" I mean he personally found the Trump interview a big, offensive deal, but it's not one. It can be included there was some backlash by people on Twitter, but I think including specific pieces about why certain writers thought a Jimmy Fallon interview wasn't a serious, hard breaking interview was offensive is not worth including. No one freaked out over his Hillary interview so I think the Trump hate was all politically-fueled. To include someone who thought it was an "embarrassment" is just one side of an argument because some people who don't like Trump (which, justified haha) were angry he wasn't roasted. I think we need to separate personal feelings from WP content guidelines. If you're calling Sims biased I think you need a reliable source to support that. You can disagree with Sims's criticism, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be included in the article. It's from a reliable source, there were lots of other articles in reliable sources criticizing the interview as well, so it seems like it sums up that criticism pretty well. And you've included Fallon's response in the article, which has balanced it. FuriouslySerene (talk) 17:14, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Since 1998 when he was on Saturday Night Live until the current time (he hosts The Tonight Show) Fallon is known primarily for television. I see no reason IP should have rearranged the items in the infobox other than he/she likes it that way. Another editor has asked for sources, so IP should address that problem as well. I don't know what sources you guys are asking for? All you keep saying is unsourced, but I made a lot of edits so I don't know specifically what you want. I rearranged the order of genres because he started out as a Stand-up, does it in his openings of the show in a way, plus that's the format a lot of comedians: Seth Meyers, David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, etc. I don't think the rearrangement of genres is the important factor here, what I want to know is what is unsourced? Lip Sync Battle is not an important show to be added into someone's filmography. If it was important it would also be to Johnson's filmography since he was on the same episode. But it's not because everyone over there know it is not important to add to someones page. Unless it's an acting or hosting role, and you're just being a hypocrite right now, "So you think you can unilaterally decide what goes into a filmography without discussion", that's what you were doing to me before you said anything, all you said you was "you did more than tweaking the filmography", I didn't know what you're talking about because you specifically never told me the problem. You think just because you have the right to decide what edits get accepted into an article doesn't make you WP:OWN this whole page. There are a few things you don't seem to know yet about how Wikipedia works, and that's understandable if this is your first venture into editing. First, when there is disagreement about an edit, it is resolved by discussion on the talk page. Secondly, how something is done on another article is almost never an acceptable rationale for doing it in a different article. As I have said, leave the infobox and the filmography item alone and you can make the rest of your edit as far as I'm concerned. I suggest you accept that and move on. But if not you need to wait for a consensus here before making the changes. As I don't plan to continue repeating myself, this is my final comment on the matter unless other editors want to discuss further. Irish, German, Norwegian?

All three of those are ethnically Germanic. And yet he has brown skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. These are not phenotypic expressions of any of those sub ethnic groups, or the Germanic people. very good point - but in Wikipedia there is no awareness of ethnic background, but nationality is the goal. I agree with you. he might be of a minority in those countries?

Including names of daughters

@JDDJS and Binksternet: as I understand it, we restored the names of Fallon's daughters on the rationale that their names have been publicly released, and since their prominent appearances in his "Tonight Show @ Home" they have become public figures. Agreed, and added them back into the article. His kids appeared in just about every episode of the at home show. They are basically child entertainers at this point. Absolutely no reason to not include them. JDDJS (talk to me • see what I've done) 03:35, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
