Stage at The Muny[edit]

A recent unsourced and reverted edit claimed that the stage at The Muny was named after James S. McDonnell. I tried to fact-check this claim and found this press release, which suggests—albeit vaguely—that the stage is named after James S. McDonnell III, the son of the article subject. The stage name theoretically warrants inclusion here, but it needs a reliable source per WP:CITE, particularly due to the similarity between the names of the two McDonnells. James S. "Scotty" McDonnell[edit]

My stepfather was manager of Dept. 245 in the Engineering Technology Division of MAC (the McDonnell Aircraft Corp.) in the 1960s. He referred to James S. as "Scotty"; that was evidently the nickname he had to people in my stepfather's peer group, in honor of his heritage. I don't know how widespread this term was, but it was certainly used by some of his employees. KHarbaugh (talk) 14:45, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, "MAC" in the 1960s referred to the McDonnell Aircraft Corp., not to Mr. McDonnell. I can confidently say that meaning for "MAC" was quite universal at the time. To call Mr. McDonnell "Mac" would have only confused his employees. So, oh great Wikipedia, what is your source for calling Mr. McDonnell "Mac"? KHarbaugh (talk) 15:10, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
