Perhaps it means "Highly Ridiculous Setup". Joking aside, though, this is an important fact that has been left out of the article. I'll try asking the original writer........ Kelisi (talk) 09:35, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

The CCIR Antenna Diagram Handbook (1984) clearly explains the meaning of HRS as well as additional nomenclature. H means horizontal di-pole(s) without reflector(s), not slewable; R means with reflector(s), not slewable; S means slewable. Therefore HRS means an array of horizontal dipoles with reflectors and slewable. HRS 4/6/0.5/+/-30 means an array of horizontal dipoles with reflector, 4 half-wave dipoles in each horizontal row, 6 rows stacked 1/2 wavelength apart vertically, the lowest row 0.5 wavelength above ground at the lowest operating frequency, and +/-30 degrees slew in azimuth of the main radiation lobe. Merge article into Curtain array?

The article Curtain array covers the same type of antenna; I don't see why there are two articles. And Curtain array covers it much better, explaining the antenna in plain English. I suggest merging this article into Curtain array. --Chetvorno^TALK 04:46, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Actually, Curtain Arrays are a style of antenna. HRS, Sterba, and several others are specific types of this style. Trying to merge HRS with Curtain Array and trying to say that all Curtains are HRS arrays just isn't so. It would be like saying all web browsers are Firefox instead of saying "this is what a web browser does", and "one type is Mozilla Firefox, Another is Opera Browser".

I'm not saying that "all curtains are HRS arrays". I'm saying that the HRS, Sterba, and several others are specific types of curtain array, as you admit above, and so could be covered in that article. Virtually all the content of this article is duplicated in Curtain array. Unless there is too much material for a single article, which there isn't, much redundancy can be avoided by describing these antennas in Curtain array. BTW, there are many online sources on these antennas better than the ARRL handbook. --Chetvorno^TALK 23:03, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

Many thanks. The "HRS" shorthand nomenclature CCIR standardized is used with all types of curtain arrays, so I feel the merger is appropriate. --Chetvorno^TALK 07:16, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
