HDMS??[edit]

Whence the abbreviation 'HDMS'? There is no such title used before the names of Danish naval ships. It seems somebody invented this by inspiration from the British 'HMS'.

And of course, the Danish Queen's official title is not 'Her Danish Majesty'... *grin* --Sasper 12:54, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Danish prefix is KDM (Kongelige Danske Marine), but in English it is often translated as HDMS (Her Danish Majesty's Ship). The Queen of the United Kingdom can also be referred to as "Her Britannic Majesty". I don't find it particularly pretty either, but it seems to be the most widely used form, so I've tried to make these pages somewhat similar. Regards.
