Wilt Chamberlain

His Wilt Chamberlain series played a big part in his career. This series is what really made him relevant to everyone that didn't know anything about Gucci. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianmykel (talkcontribs) 19:44, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

Possibly Being Released Early From Prison

No one really knows if Gucci Mane will be released early from prison but we're really hoping so. The only person we can listen to right now is one of the people that's most close to Gucci Mane and that is his producer Zaytoven. Zaytoven has recently did an interview talking about the Atlanta Georgia rapper. He stated, "Hopefully he get out next month, that's what he told". No one knows if this is actually true but so far this is the only information about his release from jail. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SloppieJo (talkcontribs) 15:30, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Sentence Structure

Why do portions of this article sound so unprofessionally written? For instance, "A new unofficial mixtape "Guccimania" has some of his new 2009 singles featured on the mixtape." Wrong grammar and use of punctuation. Also, I'd like to see "helped create his popularity" changed to "helped to boost his popularity". I mean, he was popular before that. And finally, "Soon he was on a lot of guest appearances for artists such as". I'd like that to be changed to "He soon started collaborating with many mainstream artists, including". Does that sound fair? RayJay17 (talk) 10:25, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

No. He just changed the spelling to reflect a particular pronunciation. Andrewlp1991 (talk) 20:28, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
I actually found out that his father's nickname was "Goochie Mane", and, changing the form slightly to relate to the brand, made his rap name Gucci Mane. It was on the Music Choice channel, which relays facts about artists while they play their music. RayJay17 (talk) 10:12, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

factual error

In the biographical box, Gucci Mane is listed as born in Atlanta, GA, but in the Biography, he is stated to have been born in Birmingham, AL.

Libreality (talk) 01:10, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

date of birth

Gucci Mane (real name Radric Davis) was born February 12, 1980. Well at least the Fulton County Jail data shows so. The reference should be considered reliable enough, not only because it is official information given by Fulton County, but also because Allmusic has 50 Cent's and Rick Ross' year of birth wrong in their entries on the site. Karppinen (talk) 15:38, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Discography bias?

Why are Gucci Mane's two independent albums -- "Trap House" and "Hard to Kill" -- being excluded from his main discography? These are just as much studio albums as "Back to the Traphouse" (which is actually a compilation of remixes and old material) and "The State vs. Radric Davis."

Additionally, I noticed that my edits were not only reverted, but no reason was given for reverting them.

This is why I stopped working on the Wikipedia project several years ago. There is good work being done here, but not enough accountability. Infamous30 (talk) 08:11, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Article overlooks Gucci Mane's mixtapes

Gucci Mane's popularity has come mostly out of his incredibly prolific amount of mixtape releases, which tend to have more critical acclaim than his actual albums. this page focuses too much on Gucci Mane's exploits and not enough on helping readers navigate through the Enormous discography of this talented and bizzare MC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yonirap (talkcontribs) 21:23, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Trust God Fuck 12

Ok, there are many major sources that call it an album:

According to Vibe, it's been released digitally to Amazon.com at the price of $9: [4] So it should be listed as an independent collaboration album. 2Flows (talk) 21:08, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Oh I did not see that but I am not sure, mixtapes are sold unofficially on Amazon quite frequently. I only reverted because I did not see it on iTunes as it was reported to be released on there, would not be the first time he did not follow through however. The term "album" is an umbrella term to describe all projects (mixtapes, studio albums, compilations, EPs etc.). AllHipHop [5] called it a mixtape which seems more accuarate since it is avaiable for free also. Most of the sources you provided call it a "free album" which = mixtape in the hip hop world. I mean we do not called Overly Dedicated, Crenshaw, OKE: Operation Kill Everything, Almighty Sosa or The Marathon Continues albums even though they were released to iTunes. The correct term is retail mixtape (HipHopDX did an editorial on them [6]). Even more proof that it is an unofficial compilation, is the fact that Rich Homie Quan has not once mentioned, retweeted, or have made any comment about this project since its release, signifying he was not involved in its creation. Don't you think if he had a project released, let alone something he was going to make money off of, he would have mentioned or referred to it at least once? Intro and sources

The intro currently neglects the entire second half of the article in keeping with WP:LEAD, which states the intro should stand alone as a summary of the article, something you can read on its sown and know most of what is there without continuing on, I would like to make it a complete summary of the article and propose replacing the 2nd paragraph about the single incident with the following

"Based since adolescence in Atlanta, Georgia, Gucci has a notable history of violence, drugs and weapon charges in frequent encounters with law enforcement - some resulting in incarceration. Like many other rap artists he has been known to 'come at' other artists in lyrics and public statements, one such dialogue allegedly leading to an abortive attempt to rob him, after which he was charged with murder, later dismissed as self defence. His latest incarcerations have been over parole violations after drug and weapons charges."

In order to satisfy WP:NPOV this may require fleshing out the 1st paragraph, including mentioning his level of influence on the scene and the prolific nature of his work, and his status as "mouthpiece for Atlanta stuntin" (ref following link) I would also like to see this article http://www.artistdirect.com/artist/bio/gucci-mane/3228134 referenced in the body (because it is beautiful) along with adding references from http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/gucci-mane/ of the criminal convictions as a more reliable source I am disabled and typing hurts, so would love some help here. tho would love to do the insert on the second para when agreed on, pretty please Mycosys (talk) 07:55, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

World War 3d albums

We need to decide what to do with the recently released Green, White and Purple albums. From what I've seen they are official, released digitally to iTunes under 1017 Records [7], [8] and lots of reliable sources call them Gucci's albums (not mixtapes). [9], [10], [11] etc. However, Gucci only appears on few tracks on each album, and the majority of songs are performed by the featured artist on the album. Maybe they should be listed as compilation albums? 2Flows (talk) 19:20, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Yeah we should probably list them as collaboration or compilation albums. Koala15 (talk) 23:15, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Since they have been released for retail sale but also for free via mixtape hosting sites. [12] [13] [14], there is some debate to be had. STATic message me! 23:32, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Well in that case it should only be in the mixtape section. Koala15 (talk) 23:42, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
I hadn't seen they were on DatPiff. Then I guess they can be classified as "retail mixtapes" and listed under mixtapes. However, this will be against the sources calling them "albums". 2Flows (talk) 20:52, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Please change:

2009–2010: Major-label success "...Its first single, "Wasted" featuring Plies, was originally from Mane's 2009 mixtape Writing on the Wall."

Is incorrect. Wasted was originally featured on Guccimania, released in April 2009. I know because I downloaded the album the day it came out, and bumped it while driving up to Philly from DC. Writing on the Wall came out May 2009.

Also, "Mane" isnt gucci's last name. Should be corrected. Either "Gucci Mane" or just "Gucci". Not "Mane"

So, change to:

"...Its first single, "Wasted" featuring Plies and Gianni Maggiacomo, was originally from Gucci's 2009 mixtape Guccimania."

There is some very poorly written stuff on this page. The one that really caught my eye was from the very end of the "Life and Career" section. It reads, "In May 2016, Gucci Mane was released from prison early from an Indiana prison because he had served a three-year state sentence for attacking a fan." Article Evaluation

Gucci Mane's article is sort of reliable and correct; some of the facts are headed with a reliable reference, consisting of biographies, music managers, and companies like iTunes. However some content is debated and in question, and the sources are also not too trustworthy. The article does not have useless or irrelevant information and describes the artist without bias and strictly with facts about his music and his background. I checked the reference links and the ines I reviewed worked fine, and were verified sources.

In the section on legal issues, the following sentence (taken from the last bullet point) could be changed to be more grammatically correct: "He agreed to a plea deal which will result in him being in prison until late 2016." The "will" in this sentence should be replaced with a "would" in order to match the past-tense nature of the sentence. Ghostyx123 (talk) 21:00, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
