Host city[edit]

Let's have the discussion on what "host city" should be listed in the infobox and elsewhere. This is important since this is going to be relevant also to the medal templates for future medalists of the games.

Clark (which could either mean the Clark Special Economic Zone, Clark Freeport Zone, New Clark City or Clark Global City) isn't a proper local government unit or a legally recognized city and more in the line of Bonifacio Global City, a business district in Taguig, so listing Clark as the host city is erroneous since "City" is a misnomer. Clark being called a city is more like a marketing ploy to encourage investors to set business in the Clark area. Also significant part of the games will be hosted in Metro Manila. I listed "Various" as the host city but such edit has been challenged.

If the organizers just decided to market the games as Clark-Manila 2019 like what Indonesia did with the 2018 Asian Games (Jakarta-Palembang 2018). But they just market the games as Philippines 2019, not Clark 2019, not New Clark City 2019 or Manila-Clark 2019.

Any thoughts.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 10:02, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would propose:

  • Various (see below) for the Host City parameter in the infobox
  • Philippines 2019 elswehere (in relevant tables, and medal templates)

Malaysian gold issue[edit]

As we know, there is an issue with shared gold in rhythmic gymnastics as in this article. However, as of now the official site is still showing that Izzah in the silver position. Do we have to strictly follow the official website? Griff88 (talk) 09:28, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
