  • Comment: Most of the content is unreferenced, raising the obvious question – where is all this information coming from?
And half the cites are in the 'References' section, where they support none of the content.
Only two sources are cited, both primary, at least one of which is close to the subject. For notability per WP:GNG, we need to see significant coverage in multiple secondary sources. DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:28, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
  • Comment: If (a big 'if') this is accepted, it certainly shouldn't be published at the proposed 'Glasgow 2024' title (or 'World 2024', for that matter), but at whatever is the full and official name of the event, or failing that, at something that actually tells the reader what this is about. 'Glasgow 2024' may make sense to aficionados of Irish dance, but not to anyone else. DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:26, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

The 2024 World Irish Dance Championships (Irish: Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2024), officially the 52ú Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne and commonly known as Worlds 2024, or Glasgow 2024 [1] will be the 52nd edition of the international Irish dance competition, organised by the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha. The event will be held between 24 and 31 March at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, United Kingdom [2]. It will be the Sixth time, after 2002, 2007, 2010, 2016, and 2018 [3] that the World Championships will be held in Glasgow.

Bidding Process[edit]

For Glasgow to win the 2024 World Championship (Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne) they were selected following a bidding process. The chair of the Scottish regional council sent representatives to submit their preferred venue for consideration to An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha at there annual meeting session. The final decision was made by a vote of the Oireachtas Committee, taking into account the suitability of venue and the area's capacity to support the event with appropriate accommodation. Glasgow won the vote by the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha council and was selected to host the 2024 World Championship (Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne).

Budget[edit]

To stage the Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne it has been estimated to cost around £400,000, which is covered by grants from local authorities and entrance fees from dancers. It has been estimated that the event contributes €15,000,000 to local economies, in addition to flow-on social and economic benefits. One such outcome is the exposure of an entire city or region to thousands of potential tourists; as a result, Boston tourism authorities (Who hosted the worlds in 2013) compared the total impact of the World Championship on the local economy to that of the Super Bowl. Most direct economic benefit is created by high booking rates at nearby hotels and restaurants. For example, the Belfast event in 2004 saw every hotel room in the city centre occupied for the entire week of the championships.

Emblem[edit]

The emblem for the 2024 World Championships was unveiled on 13 September 2023 across An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelachas many social media platforms, such as the publishing of their new website clrgoireachtas.com and broadcasting it across their Instagram and Facebook pages. Inspired by the sky line of Glasgow it is a White, Yellow, Blue, and Green logo with the Glasgow 2024 woodmark in pink. Inside of the semi circle logo, the background features many important sites in Glasgow such as Bishop's Castle, Glasgow and Glasgow Tower. In the front of the logo the venue for the Championships the SEC Armadillo is depicted.

Along with the Glasgow 2024 logo, the famous and traditional Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne fire branding will make its return with associated banners and the backdrop for each stage.

Schedule[edit]

An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha has added different age groups to each World Championships ever since the first edition in 1970. At those Championships only 5 age groups existed for Boys and Girls. But now in Glasgow there are over 13 solo age groups up for contention at the 52nd edition of the Championships. This year also marks the second time after Montreal 2023 that the Michael Flatley sponsored 'Freestyle Competition' will appear at the Championships.[4] This new competition combines the tradition way of Irish dance and new Pop-Culture inspired dance moves.
