European Badminton Championships

I have created all the European Badminton Championships, I think it can be deleted from the list of Open Tasks. :-)

If somebody have any suggestion about the articles, please tell me. MontanNito 16:15, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Top bar of badminton templates

Is it posible to change the colour of the top bars in the templates? I think pink is not the most appropiate colour.. Walint 00:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

We are use the color similar to BWF organisation logo. So, what color will be appropriate? --Aleen f1 04:44, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

The BWF organisation logo is red. Perhaps we could find another similiar colour, that was not pink.

Personally I preffer the second one, but I think both could be good options. However, another kind of colour could be selected too, but if you want a similar colour of the BWF logo, these are two posible options. Walint 09:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Can you prefer something that more bright, that is dark and hard to see the word. Pink is bright, easy to see something. Thanks. --Aleen f1 09:57, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I had selected this colour because I thought that they were pale colours and it was easy to see. Is it difficult like this?

Another colour more bright could be this one. I also like it, and it's quite similar to pink, but not so femenine.

I'm between the third one and the last one. Perhaps the last one is too pale, but they are both nice colours. In my opinion, the first and the second one are too dark. If I had to choose one, I think I would choose the third one. MontanNito 09:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Collaboration German & English Wikipedia

There's a German user, User:Florentyna, interested in the collaboration of both Wikipedia's, in order not to repeat the work twice. I think it's a very good idea, and perhaps this page is the best place to talk about it. I'm waiting for hearing your plans and ideas. Cheers. MontanNito 20:49, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

What is "not to repeat the work twice", is that mean copy from other project and have little change (to English). If that what you mean, is good, my target is get more details and winners about one Championships, so go ahead to make Badminton article more interesting. --Aleen f1 04:12, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Possible you can call it a simple copy. But more in this way for example: One is preparing Italian Open in Spanish (means for Spanish Wikipedia), one is preparing Norway Open in English, one Mauritius International in German. So everytime the other users could overtake the work from the others to "their" Wikipedias with one or two clicks. My additional offer: I can send you all European national and international championships in definded tables of the winners. My aim is to find for all championships at least the medalists, too - not only the winners. --Florentyna 05:52, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Well.. I was who worked in the Spanish Wikipedia, but now I'm only working in the English one. Which format do you preffer to use for the past winners tables? I like the tables we use. Sometimes I think they are too large, so if the tourament started a lot of years ago (like All England), I usually use a different article for each event (men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles...). I took this table from the tennis Grand Slams articles. What do you think about them? I suppose that you preffer to use the ones which are used in the German Wikipedia.. :-P

Your way looks better, there is no problem for me to format it in this way, too (I tried this right now for the French Open in Badminton in the German Wikipedia - without graphics at the moment). Or better: For lists containing only winners it is much better. For all medalists possible my way could be better. Yes, I mean flagicons if talking about graphics (by the way, I must for all countries transfer everytime - example flagicon|GER to flagicon|Germany - if translating the text/tables to German. Is there a better way?). For all-medalists-tables I like it more like here [[1]].--Florentyna 05:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I had the same problema in the Spanish Wikipedia. If you want, when I create an article, I can write flagicon|Germany instead of flagicon|GER; if somebody changes it to the short form, you can always go to "history", and copy the long form. However, I think there's a solution for the articles that have been already created: you can copy all the text to the Microsoft Word, or similar program, and you can use a tool there to search "flagicon|GER" and replace for "flagicon|Germany", but you will have to do it for every different flagicon country. It's not to clicks, but it will be faster. MontanNito 08:18, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I'm at the moment doing this in Word - but for long tables with a lot of different countries it could be very helpful, if you use the long country names - this could be the first success of our collaboration. --Florentyna 06:43, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I'm doing this (collecting badminton data) already 20 years, with some breaks. A lot is from the net (national associations, eurobadminton, tangkis), a lot from old badminton journals, books. German things often directly from the players, trainers.--Florentyna 18:13, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

All-medalists-tables

With reference to all-medalists-tables, we usually put only the winners table on the articles of the championships, and then the medalists tables in the articles of each edition. You can see it for example in European Badminton Championships. Let's wait for Aleenf1 oppinion, but I think this way is more clear. If you preffer the way you use, no problem, we should agree at least with the format of the table (heading), and then we could modifiy the tables quickly with some cut&paste. Oh yeah, I've seen this. For "younger" or "big" championships it is no problem to make own articles for every yearly championship. In my opinion such articles make sense, if there is more known than only the medalists (results and ranks starting with 5). But see All England, there are most runner-ups known, but some not. So we all hope, that in the future somebody will fill in the missing data. That's one of my aims: Animate other badminton fans to fill in missing data. Winners tables

Hi Florentyna. It's amazing all the information you have! :-) I've seen the article about the US Open [2], and I've been making proves. As a result, there's this: List of U.S. Open Badminton champions. I think it's shorter, more compact and easier to read. Which one do you preffer? Is possible to do this table with your program? Yes, yours is better - I will do this here, too. For US it will not work here in Germany, some admins are here going crazy with incomplete lists. But when I own nearly all winners, I will make tables like you. See last additions. --Florentyna 19:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I prefer the one with "/" and with no "</br>". Reason: If you upload some data I do not own and I have to copy single rows into my Access database, the line breaks make a lot of work to change them into one line. --Florentyna 08:41, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, MS Access. I have all my data in an Access database. You can ask me for instance: Tell me all wins of Rudy Hartono, and I can create a table within 5 seconds. See for instance the table de:Erland Kops. It is something like on http://www.internationalbadminton.org/playerprofile.asp, but my data starts with the first All England Championships (mostly winners only). --Florentyna 14:43, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

In case, it might need cleanup, simply copy and paste is non-professional work in winners list and also standardize to use flag rather than short country code. I'm already state that WIKIPROJECT is create to standardize everything, not prefer for own trend. I don't care what on players bio because so much badminton players and but tournament is somehow i want to standardize because it fixed. --Aleen f1 09:10, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, right what you are saying. The problem is, that not much people own the Badminton data to put on to Wikipedia. So for the first version a table without flagicons should work, too - not to spend too much time with formatting. The cleanup can do everybody, the data upload possible not. Standard tables

Hi Florentyna. I don't know if it is too much work what I'm going to ask you, but is it posible to update the tables of some german articles to the current tables that you use? It is too much work for me converting the former tables to the current ones, and perhaps you can do it automatically. The articles are: de:Irish Open (Badminton), de:Portugal Open, de:Schweizer Meisterschaft (Badminton), de:Swedish Open (Badminton)

If you can do it, but not in the German Wikipedia for some reason, we can create a page like Wikipedia:WikiProject Badminton/German Wikipedia and copy the tables there until I have created the articles. Is it posible for you? MontanNito 22:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

New templates for national teams

I have created three new templates which can significantly help with results articles such as the Sudirman Cup, Thomas Cup and Uber Cup. {{bd}}, {{bd-rt}} and {{bd-big}} work just like the other national team flag templates used in football, rugby, tennis, etc. if you are familiar with those. Check out 2007 Sudirman Cup for example usage, and about 12,000 bytes smaller wikicode! Hope this helps, Andrwsc (talk) 01:13, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
