I'll make this simple:

  • I would perfer the system of using screenshots of each episode.
  • However, I feel that the use of screenshots will more likely lead to a copyright Nazi removing all of the images and destroying the page. For example, all of my screenshots used at List of Virtual Boy games were removed by a couple of users, led to a revert war, and made it end up being protected and imageless. I just would like to prevent this from being repeated. Until all of this debate over screenshot use can be settled, we should play it as safely as possible. And Cat's DVD cases make the article a less likely target.--SeizureDog 02:04, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh. Well, in that case the different is too small to matter. Either is fine. --SeizureDog 02:13, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Just FYI, I prodded the Aurora-con page a few days ago, and you you recently reverted an anon's removal of the prod. Technically, prods shouldn't be restored if removed by someone legitimately objecting (and this guy did leave an at-least-vaguely-coherent talk page message). But the article obviously needs deleting, so I've put it on AfD. Opabinia regalis 17:17, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Holic names

Yes! I figured I was wrong (I have no knowledge of Japan...yet). Thanks for correcting me. It would have been a pain for me to ask so thanks for taking it lightly. -- Psi edit 02:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: New Nihongo param

Wow, thank you for that; I'll put it to good use. :) 21:21, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Instead of posting supspected sockpuppets to WP:AIV post here instead. Thanks. Treebark (talk) 00:58, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I got your note about merging.

I got your note on Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page and posted a link on Wikipedia:Proposed mergers. I also left an apology and explanation on UFO Baby that I hope is to your satisfaction. Cwolfsheep 18:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

A question

Apologies for taking up your time,I was hoping you could give me a fair answer. It looks like in wikipedia, bluntly speaking a person with higher "authority" over a page or article seems to have "special" rights to delate/change/chose to change/revert articles however they wish? I sincerely wish to know. This is no way a personal attack against you as I see though you've exerted the same right, you have suffered the same and I've never come into contact with you. I just would like facts due to the fact of a similiar dispute with someone else. Don't worry, I'm not asking for allies but he left an interesting comment on my page stating that 6 people have the power to edit summaries amongst everything else? Evidenced otherwise, looking around evidently more than 6 have the power to edit articles and their changes were allowed to be stayed. If you have the time, could you take a look at my situation and tell me if he's being honest or not? I admit I was pissed at what he did.

Some points - If he felt part of my summary wasn't right, couldn't he have changed it instead of reverting it?

I also noticed he was largely uninvolved in the article until recently, but it seems like he's in charge now.

Do not worry. I just would like to know the truth about wikipedia, nothing more. I will deal with him myself. Digisouth14 01:12, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

RealmsCon

Hi Farix, I have a quick question for you. I know that RealmsCon does not meet the 2-2-3 criteria for listing on the Anime Con list, so, where do I list it? Do I just out in the category or is that just for larger older conventions also?-Giant89 20:53, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Do not revert edits without a good reason

Policy dictates that reverts are only necessary if they are really necessary. Reverting the edit of the AfD Kiddy Grade discussion was not necessary. --Crampy20 18:53, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

I gave a very good reason for the reverts. For starters, we do not C&P large sections of policies into AfD discussions, instead we use wikilinks. And second, the headings disrupted the formatting of the AfD logs and deletion sorting pages, including Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Japan and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2006 July 24 among others. --TheFarix (Talk) 19:02, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Gunslinger Girl revert

Hi, you reverted the article due to broken kanji instead of just fixing it, when there were other changes to the article. Please check for that kind of stuff before reverting, thanks. --Wirbelwind 17:54, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I've already notified the editor who broke the kanji in order for him to reapply his changes, but there is no reason to gp complaining to me. --TheFarix (Talk) 18:06, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Mini Mammoths

Thank you for your excellent and diligent work in the Mini Mammoths page. Ordinary Person 04:15, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but I can't keep reverting the vandalism all night as I have to go to bed at some point. --TheFarix (Talk) 04:18, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
What are the de facto rules with regard to reversion? Can I really anticipate being punished for reverting to correct vandalism more than three times in a 24 hour period? Ordinary Person 04:24, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Reverting vandalism is the only thing that is an exception to the WP:3RR. Just be sure that what you are reverting is vandalism. BTW, a semi-protection request has already been filed for this page. --TheFarix (Talk) 04:33, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Nice work on this page. I gave up reverting huge amounts after seeing the progress of the AfD. ViridaeTalk 04:50, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Regarding fictional characters and naming order

You say: "Support WP:MOS-JA says that SN-GN is only used with historical figures born before the first year of Meiji (1868). Naruto is neither set in a historical period nor are any of the character born before the Meiji-era. But even with fictional characters born before the Meiji-era, we often use GN-SN. Also, more people are likely to be more failure with the anime then the manga. And finally, WP:Anime own guidelines suggest that character names should be in western order. --TheFarix (Talk) 02:51, 2 August 2006 (UTC) I say: "But even with fictional characters born before the Meiji-era, we often use GN-SN." - False - We leave it up to the publisher - For instance Rurouni Kenshin uses Japanese order. WhisperToMe 21:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)"

And I'll add another - Samurai Deeper Kyo - The only time we would switch the naming order for anything historical is if the only publisher, or all of the publishers, use Western order (e.g. several historical video games) WhisperToMe 21:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

"I do not dispute what TheFarix states - In fact, I did exactly that. WhisperToMe 17:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)"

Yes - And I feel that it is okay to engage in such a practice - I can't make them change a move, but I can rebut their reasonings on their talk page. WhisperToMe 17:41, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks on Mushishi

I guess I'm not used to the nihongo template yet, but I'm trying. Thanks for fixing my mess. Dekimasu 15:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

prod and ep number id

Basically I figured one would use one or the other, but not both. I've seen lists where the ep number resets for each season, so I figured another alternative might be good for those lists. But yeah, there's probably a better way of doing that.. Any ideas? -- Ned Scott 22:35, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Including the season number may be a way to go about it, but that means adding an extra field to the templates. But perhaps the best way would be to use the episode title instead. --TheFarix (Talk) 22:42, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

animanga todo

what does this edit mean? --GunnarRene 16:55, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

"should" -> "shouldn't" I sometimes leave off the "n't" when I'm in a hurry. --TheFarix (Talk) 17:01, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Newtype reference request

Hi. If you have the time sometime, could you check the ratings pages of Newtype USA 2005 issue 3 onwards for any viewer numbers for RahXephon? It was running on G4 TV in the U.S. then. DVD sales too, from any country, if they are mentioned. Popularity ratings are also mildly interesting, but those would probably be based on self-selecting polls. --GunnarRene 20:23, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Less important: June 2005 has a review of the novel version. There might be numbers in there. The outcome of the review is perhaps not that interesting, but a salient quote would be nice. I've heard that at least the first novel was horribly mistranslated. --GunnarRene 20:29, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

I, GunnarRene, hereby award you the Anime and Manga BarnSakura for tireless effort to provide reliable sources in anime and manga articles.

Your edits

Hi, I'm not sure if what you're doing fits WP:GUS: you're moving all these userboxes to project space, rather than user space. Am I just seeing this wrong? If not, could you please change your edit summary, or move them to user space? Thanks! --JoanneB 21:27, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I've been moving them under migrated out of template space into userspace or an appropriate subpage, such as a corresponding WikiProject. clause of the WP:GUS. Since all of the userboxes are anime or manga related WikiProject Anime and manga is the appropriate and corresponding WikiProject. --TheFarix (Talk) 21:36, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
My apologies, I thought I had read the page carefully but apparently I missed that. Sorry! --JoanneB 21:38, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Now comes a minor problem. I'm suppose to replace all of those redirects I created with Template:User GUS UBX to, however, it will automaticly put "User:" even if the templates have been moved to a WikiProject subpage.
But I should probably wait for some more input from other WikiProject memebers. Some may want to drop "User " from the names of the templates. --TheFarix (Talk) 22:10, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, that's probably a good idea. I have little knowledge of the specifics of userboxes as a whole (which is why I shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place, I guess :)). Again, my apologies! --JoanneB 14:11, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Man-Faye

I'm not familiar with the more complicated procedures of wikipedia, so I thought you might help. The Man-Faye article was AfD] a second time despite my protests, and it's been a week with only three votes. Just hoping you could add your voice to the discussion, and do whatever needs to be done to bring the AfD to a close. Thanks Elijya 13:37, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

you are awesome.

Thank you for your beautiful edits to King of Bandits Jing!!! The episode list looks wonderful now. dposse 14:26, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thanks for the BarnSakura :) I shall treasure it always. Thanks also for all your work on the Neon Genesis Evangelion article. You were a huge help with the references! -HKMARKS 01:22, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Scientology public relations

This article is a joke. You can tell it's a joke by looking at the user who created it, someone who calls himself/herself "Lord Xenu." Xenu is the bad guy in Scientology mythology. Whoever created Scientology Public Relations did so out of malice, either towards Scientology or Wikipedia or both. I urge you to reconsider your vote. Respectfully, Republitarian 19:16, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Your thoughts

Was wondering if I could get your thoughts / advice / feedback on some new template code I put together for the Episode list templates. See WT:LOE#un-filled parameters are no longer an issue. -- Ned Scott 09:50, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Anime discussion

Hi, TheFarix. Although I do support people airing their opinions, please remember some editors are more sensitive than others. You may also continue the mediation on the cabal page rather than filling your... "heated debates"... with Selmo on the Anime talk page. Thanks. Jsw663 04:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Editing of AfD

About the Comet-san page

I don't know, except your organization skills applied, whether you are one of the vandalist of wikipedia that dying to RV other's work. Lain COW

Hi, I'm trying to get the Serial Experiments: Lain article to a decent level, but I still lack experience as to what's needed exactly. I come to you as you seem to have quite a lot of experience with the project: Could you please have a quick look and point out to me what would be definitely needed to get the article to GA level (some day...)? That way I can update the To Do list for the collaboration of the week, and can work on it before calling for a peer review. Thanks in advance.--SidiLemine 13:13, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! Exactly the kind of guidelines I needed. I'll get on to hunting citations now. Any suggestions where to look (online only, I'm in the third world!) maybe? (That's what I call "to have only the lungs for smoking")--SidiLemine 10:00, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, it's funny you should say that... :) I was actually wondering where I might find the January 2005 issue, that features a review of Lain... Any chance you could help with that?--SidiLemine 10:31, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Newtype USA

Hi Farix. I am close to FAC with Lain, and one of the only ressources I'm still lacking is the Newtype USA review of January 2005. Could you possibly get me a copy of it, or maybe a review of the review :)?--SidiLemine 12:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you so much Farix. Newtype USA is one of the most respected print sources about anime in the english speaking world, so a review by them has a lot more credibility than any website around. That should get me a reception section hard as steel.--SidiLemine 11:36, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Reverting Corporation

Please do not revert other editors edits as you did on Corporation, in the futre try and edit instead of reverting. You have now overwritten other editors changes that you should go and make good. "Snorkel | Talk" 14:46, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Neither of those edits where good edits. "United States" should always be used over "US" or "USA" because it is less ambiguous. The other was a trivial change in phrasing. --TheFarix (Talk) 16:53, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Request for involvement

Hello, TheFarix, and, first of all, Merry Christmas to you. :) Actually, I'm here because you are listed as an owner of nearly all recent Newtype issues on User:GunnarRene/Sources, and I wondered if you could help me a little... You see, I've been working on the Madlax article for a while now but the peer reviewers keep telling me that without paper sources, I'd never get it to FAs and, unfortunately, living in Germany, I have very limited access to English-language anime press. The only thing I can do myself is find out which issues of Newtype have contained some info on the topic (via their website). If it isn't too much a bother for you, I'd greatly appreciate if you confirmed the usability (that is, the size, the depth of review, etc.) of articles in the following issues, and eventually help me with sourcing the one here:

  • May 2004
  • January, February, April, June, July, and December 2005
  • March 2006

I hope, that's not too impudent of me. ^^; --Koveras  12:35, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
