Happy New Year !!![edit]

Hi Tenebrae,

I would like to wish you a Happy New Year 2017 !!! I will put a link here and I don't know if you will be able to access it, it is a link to the BAnQ (Bibliothèque des Archives nationales du Québec) and maybe you'll be able to see the baptism certificate of Norma Shearer from Westmount in Montreal - here it is -> http://bibnum2.banq.qc.ca/bna/ecivil/affichage.html?serie=06M_CE601S147&a=r If you see something on this link, click on "1903" at the middle left then click on "Janvier - Décembre" who will appear. Then you will see the pages. Go to page 9A then click on "Page 9A" then click on "Affichage plein écran" and the page will download. Then if you have an arrow who points down in the upper-right of your computer (it's the downloading) click on this arrow then click on the thing who appears and you will see the baptism certificate of Edith Norma Shearer. I don't know if you'll be able to see it (since you're not a BAnQ member) but if you are able anyone will be able to see it. Give me news. And Happy New Year again Tenebrae !!! --Danielvis08 (talk) 04:00, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. For Douglas Shearer click on "1900" then "janvier - décembre" then on "Page 6". For Athole Shearer click on "1901" then "janvier - décembre" then on "Page 3A". --Danielvis08 (talk) 04:21, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

At long last...Jack Schiff has a Wikipedia article![edit]

Hi Tenebrae,

Back on July 16, 2013, you wrote to me that "One of these days we'll get around to Jack Schiff!" After 3½ years, I finally created it! He was a pretty interesting person. How many other comics creators worked with Pearl S. Buck?

I've created six new articles in the space of 12 days which is a new personal best. All Out War (comics), Jesse Santos, Bill Draut, D. Bruce Berry, and Howard Bender are the other new ones. Hope you enjoy them.

Best regards,

Minor critics society awards[edit]

Hey, I know awhile back you were looking to remove some of these minor critics society awards and I found some that may have escaped your sight while updating List of accolades received by Deadpool (film). Denver Film Critics Society hasn't been updated since 2014 and doesn't any sources. Jupiter Award (film award) claims to be "Germany's biggest audience award" but doesn't cite any sources.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 14:31, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Superman[edit]

Well, Tenebrae, my original account has been restored at the forebearance of the admins, and I'm going ahead and finishing up some loose ends on the Superman article. I distracted myself these past few months researching other domains, but this is one itch that I needed to scratch. I regret that our past interactions were foul, but what to do? If you object to what I have just done, you can confront me on Talk and I will bear you no ill will for this. If I encounter resistance again, I will fold. Monsters Unleashed-response[edit]

In my defense to Monsters Unleashed, the storyline was made separate in order to keep it from being confused with the unrelated comic series just like how they had to keep Secret Wars and it's 2015 comic book separate. This issue is a big event for the Marvel Comics monsters community. Did I leave anything out? --Rtkat3 (talk) 22:29, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re: A Monster Calls[edit]

I forgot to write it was also british-american. I wrote it because as the films The Impossible (2012 film) and Regression (film), they are "spanish films" because the director and companies, but they are in english. I agree with you and yes, "A Monster Calls" is both, spanish-british-american. Thanks and now, the description is correct :)

JaviDex (talk) 18:00, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect. But, I think no cites are neccesary. I mean, the director is spanish, the scriptwriter is british-american and the characters and the companies are spanish-british-americans, so the countries are known thanks of that. In spite of this, all the cites I can find (spanish newspapers as: http://cultura.elpais.com/cultura/2016/10/06/actualidad/1475712379_440756.html) says the film is spanish (Género: drama. España, 2016 - Type: drama. Spain, 2016). I think we can leave that as it is in the article (the film is spanish-british-american) :)

Top Ten Lists[edit]

Hi. Hope you're well. I've noticed that you've removed appearances in Top Ten lists from accolades lists. I support this for the minor critic associations, but support inclusions of if they appeared in the top Ten of National Board of Review or American Film Institute which have independent recognition and are covered every year in accolades list. Is there consensus for this, if so I can begin culling these from the accolades lists? Cowlibob (talk) 19:41, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Cowlibob: Unless something's changed in the last couple of days, the only top-ten list WP:FILM is including is the AFI's. If I had to guess, the National Board of Review isn't included since then we'd have to start including national boards and their equivalents from a whole bunch of other countries, bloating the lists all over again. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:21, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've disabled the unblock request. Perhaps you've had no reason to run into the distinction. Edit warring, as a general rule, is strongly discouraged. It's sometimes a bit subjective to determine if someone is edit warring; where is the threshold? One absolute threshold is the three revert thing -- if you break 3RR, you're going to get blocked, and there's not much arguing to be done about it. But you can edit war without violating 3RR; I've seen people blocked for edit warring by making one edit a month. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 20:36, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jpgordon: Thanks for responding. I appreciate the broader perspective. I'm surprised the WP:BLP nature of the edits didn't appear to come into consideration.--Tenebrae (talk) 20:40, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikizilla Links[edit]

I have a few questions about this whole thing. I have to go to this External Links noticeboard to make my request, and then I have to take that discussion and link it at the Project Film place and the Project Tokusatsu place? That's how I'm understanding it but I'm not entirely sure if I'm correct. Could you please elaborate on this. Also I could do without the accusations that I'm setting up an edit-war please. I don't want things to get out of hand just because I'm not completely familiar with Wikipedia's rules. EncyclopediaGojira (talk) 04:44, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@EncyclopediaGojira: Quite alright. Though you've been on Wikipedia since October, I guess it's still understandable you might not have been familiar with the protocol at WP:BRD or with WP:EDITWAR. There's a learning curve for all of us. I will note that User:Friginator already spoke with you about all this on your talk page at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:EncyclopediaGojira&diff=762660987&oldid=746280707.
An RfC is pretty simple, though it does take a few steps, the most important of which is crafting a neutral question. Go to Wikipedia:Requests for comment and follow the directions. They which will include adding "{{rfc|media}} where it asks for "category."
Afterward, in order to generate comments from editors particularly knowledgable in the subject matter, which always helps, you almost certainly want to add something like "A request for comment concerning a specific external link to Godzilla-related articles is taking place at [wikilink here]." These would go at the bottom Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tokusatsu at the very least. I hope this helps, and I'm here of you need any specific help in setting up the RfC. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:49, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@86.43.187.228: Thank you for asking. Infobox images are supposed to show the most longstanding and traditional version of a character. Superman has had different costumes now and then, sometimes for a year or more, but we show the traditional Superman costume. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:59, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Tenebrae: Could you tell me why my edits are being reverted? I'm simply trying to mention that Victor Von Doom is now a heroic character. I'd like a suitable explanation of why my edits are seen as inappropriate. --Impending_IP (talk) 14:17, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please think for a second. What exactly do "all other editors" disagree with regarding my edits? I have not been told. Can you let me know? I don't see any problem whatsoever with mentioning the current status of Doctor Doom. What is the problem with mentioning that e is now Infamous Iron Man?

Notification[edit]

For a Master Editor IV you're acting pretty hasty. Calm down, willya? Master Editors are supposed to be good role models and not go off half-cocked. Partly for my own protection (from you) I opened a thread at WP:ANI concerning this situation, which you have way escalated and which I think you're in the wrong on procedural grounds, and maybe we can hash it out there or whatever. Herostratus (talk) 21:04, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Let's see if we can dial this down a notch[edit]

I noticed that 1) you're a Master Editor IV with a bunch of barnstars and 2) you were recently blocked (for edit-warring) even though your log is otherwise clean; these are two things that don't fit together, so I wonder if something is going on. I addition it'd only be human to be upset about that block (I would be). Not my business, so that's all I can really say about that.

Under the circumstances I've decided to cut you some slack and not make a huge deal over what's going on over at at the article. WP:BRD is an important principle and worth fighting for, but this particular hill is not worth dying over. I'll meet you over at the talk page there presently. It'd be great too if you could keep an eye on the article, if you aren't already, just to handle any vandalism and such (the article is not currently protected either). I'm probably going to remove it from my watchlist very soon and will be back on May 5 after seeing the film myself. And I'll come back later and post any questions I might have! Here's one. Having not seen the film yet, I don't know if this is silly or not given the content, but, what was the decision to have as many post-credit scenes as there are, and why weren't the scenes incorporated elsewhere in the film? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:32, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Another: If allowed (as I know this can happen at junkets sometimes), see if Gunn is able to talk about/confirm any of the Guardians-related characters in Infinity War outside of the main team, specifically the Collector (as we have some suspect sourcing on his appearance). Probably can't or won't mention anyone specifically but worth a shot. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:39, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Smart questions from a smart editor! Will ask. Without giving anything away that anyone wouldn't expect, one of the end-credit scenes does set up a another Marvel character. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:04, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think I would need to see the film first to come up with any decent questions, but having him explain his reasoning/development process for anything is always great for us. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:51, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If not to late for another one: Any way for him to confirm Bradley Cooper for Infinity War would be great. We have the character appearing and his brother doing on set motion reference/acting again, but not that Cooper will be back. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:24, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'll give it a shot! --Tenebrae (talk) 17:25, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Much obliged! Those are the best I can think of without having seen the film like Adam said. Obviously since you've seen it, if there were moments you think a lot of people will want to know about (VFX things, how something was filmed/prepped, etc.) those are always good to have info on! - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:28, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm perhaps something about what if any influence the 80s/90s (and any particular film(s) from that era) had on him considering his use retro color schemes and casting stars from that era (Stallone, Russell, Close, Zombie).--TriiipleThreat (talk) 19:16, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TriiipleThreat and Adamstom.97: FYI to you all, I've taken the GotG Vol. 2 article, MCU films and MCU film cast articles off my watch list, since stuff may be added from junkets and the premiere red carpet interviews. Understanding Consensus[edit]

Even as to relying on the show itself is a primary source, which we could rely upon. Of course we have to be very careful in such a case not to do WP:OR. For instance, if there are a mixture of positive and negative things said, how do we know if they are in top or bottom? In such a case, ONLY secondary sources could be allowed to resolve the question.

I've reverted your disruptive edits. This is what the closer said. Only in cases that the comments from the judges are ambiguous is it necessary to rely on a secondary source (even so, it's rare for it to be that ambiguous). I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the show and read what the consensus actually is before you go reverting edits. Do not make further revisions to the articles unless you are willing to point out any ambiguous comments from the judges and any sources to go with those, since the onus is on you to show a secondary source is required. nihlus kryik (talk) 23:37, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently you do not understand what consensus is or what a status-quo is. I recommend you worry less about your edit count and more about what your edits are. nihlus kryik (talk) 17:55, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Englehart and Todd McFarlane[edit]

"Collaborate with" omits the fact that Englehart gave McFarlane his first professional work, which is the whole point of mentioning it in Englehart's article. I'm not sure why you would remove this specificity for the more vague "collaborate", when that wasn't even the main reason why you explained you disagreed with it.

You also removed the "young artist, fresh out of college" description, which further paints the picture of the importance of that moment in history.

You also removed "immense popularity" which is not informal, and unquestionably a documented fact.

Lastly, "great multimedia success" refers to his success in various media: Independent creator-owned publishing, toy making, and a Grammy and Emmy-winning animator, info that is referred to in the cited sources. You replaced this with "toy-company founder", which does not convey this, as it removes the other media in which McFarlane found success, and restricts it to toys. Why do this? Have you read McFarlane's article?

I'm sorry, Tenebrae, but this is not an improvement. I removed the informal term "superstar" that you thought was inappropriate, so I don't know why you're determined to remove the specific info that makes Englehart's giving McFarlane his first word so noteworthy. Nightscream (talk) 21:29, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"young artist, fresh out of college" is non-encyclopedic tone. I believe "the recent college graduate" is more encyclopedic.
Didn't know about the animation stuff. So how about "McFarlane would go on to become one of the industry's most prominent and successful artists and publishers, a toy-company founder, and a Grammy Award- and Emmy Award-winning animator." --Tenebrae (talk) 21:33, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Question: As a writer, who generally doesn't do the hiring in comics, how did Englehart give him work? Wouldn't it be the publisher giving McFarlane work? --Tenebrae (talk) 21:35, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You might be being discussed on ANI. I have no idea.[edit]

Sorry! I didn't notice, but actually you are (maybe) being discussed on ANI and no one informed you.

A user whom you recently asked to stop talking about "certain users" on an article talk page opened a report on ANI about said unnamed users, and didn't post on anyone's talk page around the same time. Someone else commented and replaced "certain users" with "the offending editor", and specifically linked a comment that was clearly addressed to them. I notified that one user, but it's entirely possible that you were one of the "certain users" in question.

Or if not, you could at least help elaborate on whom you think the certain editors are. I'm just a random uninvolved editor and am already getting pretty damn sick of it; perhaps if all involved users had been notified the discussion would be less ... "lonely", I guess? I have no idea who else was involved. I only noticed your comment because it came right after a diff I needed, and I thought shortly before another I wanted.

"interpretive POV" vs. OR[edit]

Hey, thanks for putting up with me on the Guardians talk page. It's a peripheral point so I'm bringing it here, but I think what I did here was more "OR" than "POV", since my POV (that Ego is the film's villain, has sinister motives, and is lying in at least some of what he says) is one the film essentially forces on the audience. These aren't real people about whom one can have conflicting opinions.

It is OR to say that since Yondu was involved in the fates of Ego's other children then Ego must have been planting seeds all across the galaxy at roughly the same time as he was having this star-crossed romance with Meredith. But "talk-page OR" in discussion of the inclusion or non-inclusion of something in the article that may or may not be independently sourced is generally allowed, as long is it doesn't enter the realm of excessive fanboy navel-gazing.

This is why I think plot summaries should have to be sourced to secondary sources rather than the films themselves, as it is possible to read the film the way you did (as you appeared to be doing?). Presenting original plot summaries with unique emphases is (depending on how straightforward the film is, of course) contrary to the spirit, if not the letter, of NOR. And the more we work, even in good faith to fix it on the talk page based on our own readings of the film itself rather than based on third-party reliable sources, the closer we get to the above-mentioned excessive fanboy navel-gazing.

Hijiri 88 (やや) 22:34, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Hijiri88: Well, I can't argue with most of that! I do think that with movie plots, it all shakes out properly eventually. But, yeah, with comic-book movies there's a tendency, by newer editors especially, to overdetail. That said, most of the veteran WikiProject Comics editors have done a terrific job overall on the Marvel movies, I think.--Tenebrae (talk) 00:02, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Look a little bit closer at some of those articles, sometime... virtually every MCU article I have read, I have found something wrong with: blue haze covering the lead because someone thought it was a good idea to list the entire poster-billed cast even if several of them were on screen for less than a minute; sources being attached to overly-detailed character descriptions when really they only verify the fact that Actor X is playing Character Y; material copy-pasted from one article into another related article without regard for how it would look in the different context, pre-release speculative and/or promotional sources being cited years after the films' release for our (updated) claims that they don't support.
I mean, with Iron Man 3 Marvel were deliberately trolling their fans and throwing them off the scent by telling them that Ben Kingsley would be playing the Mandarin, the leader of the Ten Rings seen in the first film; the final film included no mention of the Ten Rings, but we still claim the fictional character within a fictional movie is "depicted as the leader of the international terrorist organization the Ten Rings", a claim cited entirely to pre-release sources that just said Ben Kingsley was playing the Mandarin. Similar examples are endemic. (The problem gets worse in "In other media" sections of our articles on the comic book characters themselves.[5][6])
I feel like GA reviewers (and a bunch of these articles are GAs despite the above problems) are somewhat clumsy with checking these things, since GA has a list of criteria and they check the articles only against those criteria, without regard for how the article actually reads, and sometimes skip over the most important criterion (verifiable with no original research) because they don't have access to the sources or just didn't bother checking them because they are "assuming good faith" (which isn't what that policy means). Again, the Iron Man 3 example I gave is technically "verifiable" and "not original research", in that other sources not cited in the article, or already cited elsewhere in the article, may verify the claims being made, but if GA reviewers were more careful it wouldn't have passed while still containing material clearly not supported by the sources attached to it.
Sorry for such a long rant. Just my two cents on the MCU articles (haven't looked at the Fox or Sony ones, honestly) and GA processes in general.

Stallone's character's crew and Stallone's character's team-mates[edit]

Hey, I just got out of my second viewing and checked this. The characters in the mid-credits stinger are apparently not the same people as the crew of Stakar's ship. In the funeral scene, Stakar addresses his crew while paying his respects, and they call him "Captain", and then in quick succession we see the other characters in the stinger scene each pay their respects as well. The implication is that they are different captains on different ships, each with their own crew, but it makes sense that one might get this mixed up (honestly, both times I was tearing up during that scene and probably wouldn't have noticed details like thos if I wasn't specifically looking). in the stinger itself Stakar specifically regrets that it took Yondu's death to reunite the "team". And most importantly of all (it's detached from the other scenes and so is even easier to miss), Yondu says to Rocket when they are sharing a cell that he, Stakar and the other Ravager captains were once a team not unlike Rocket, Quill and co. -- he does everything short of explicitly stating that they had been the original Guardians of the Galaxy.

Posting this on your talk page since it's kind of off-topic for the article talk page, as my current view is that the stingers should not be discussed in the plot summary at all (read: I think that the text in question should be removed). The information that's important for our article -- that the characters played by stallone, Yeoh et al. are references to an earlier incarnation of the team from the comics -- can all be easily verified in third-party reliable sources without resorting to SYNTH, so discussion of whether the film versions of the characters are Stakar's "crew" or his "team-mates" is kind of irrelevant. I just figured I'd point it out because it came up in the discussion.

hello,[edit]

I can see from your history that you've pretty much been going through all of my edits and re-correcting them. i recognize your right as a contributor to double check information but i am a bit uncomfortable that you've made it a priority to sift through each of my edits and the pages i've edited. i'm a minor and it makes me uneasy to be stalked in any way. i am sure you have better things to do with your time then fact check everything i do when i have tried to make as little of a scene as possible, but i do confess that i now feel a bit troubled for being stalked. most of those edits were either going off of what somebody else did or reorganizing information. for some reason, there seems to be a hierarchy between editors on this site; i have never intended to make editing this domain a hobby or a passion or anything like that ever. however, it ticks me off when people who do fail to display signs of respect or acknowledgment of junior contributors that are utilizing the right wikipedia offers them as a website that can be edited by anyone (within reason & accuracy). but the content on a page shouldn't be solely decided by a singular, one editor that makes it their duty to track and control every single edit and perhaps label it whatever they please to keep it off the page. it's also not right for editors to gang up on junior editors when they feel like it. the adding of upcoming projects has never been against any policy of normalcy and it doesn't make sense to act like it is. anyways, please stop going through my contribution list and leave me alone. --— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosemaries19 (talkcontribs) 23:26, 31 May 2017‎

@Rosemaries19: There is no way of knowing who anyone is on Wikipedia, and your threatening insinuation that you purportedly are a minor and that I am "stalking" a minor appears to be on the verge of a legal threat, a policy under which you can be sanctioned. My edits were strictly to correct gross violations of WP:BLP, WP:TABLOID, WP:GOSSIP and other inappropriate edits that were not "within reason and accuracy". As for your WP:PROMOTIONAL edits, more than one editor reverted them.
Wikipedia welcomes all contributors and asks that they adhere to the policies and guidelines encapsulated at the 5 Pillars of Wikipedia. --Tenebrae (talk) 17:54, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
i am a minor, i have stated this before on Ginny's edit history, if an administrator asks me the fact that i am a minor is true by all means and under the laws of the United States of America of anyone under 18 to be a legal minor. I was simply saying that by constantly going through my edits you are making me uncomfortable and it is fully in my rights to let you know of it. It feels like you are purposely targeting me for some reason and/or trying to incite drama. it is fully within my right to call out an adult for tracking my every move on the site and making me feel uneasy. If this continues I don't intend to take legal action (bit of a large jump there Jesus) but I will go to the administrators and request you blocked from my account so you don't see my contributions and no longer have any reason to sift restlessly and intentionally through almost every edit I've made. I never specified any edits I did in my comment, I never asked for any sort of reverting or restoration, I simply asked for you to leave me alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosemaries19 (talkcontribs) 18:17, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosemaries19: Anyone can claim anything they want; that doesn't make it true. Wikipedia editors have a responsibility to undo irresponsible edits and editors, particularly on biographical articles where you're adding anonymously sourced gossip and tabloid claims. The only person making drama here is you: If you'll check you'll see it has been since May 30 that I edited an article that you have edited. Feel free to ask admins for anything you'd like; I'd be glad to give them a list of your irresponsible edits and your uncivil, borderline threatening talk-page posts. Anyone can edit Wikipedia, but they need to do it responsibly. I'm quite sure from your tone and claims that you've never read the 5 Pillars of Wikipedia, as I suggested above. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:30, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth for Jenette Kahn[edit]

Hello Tenebrae,

How are you? I just saw that Jenette Kahn was born on 1948 without a source. I found his birth date. Here in an article from The New York Times dated January 6, 1985 they mention she is 37 years old -> [7]. If we calculate we find she was born between January 7, 1947 and January 6, 1948, hence a great odd that she was born in 1947. At the end of the NYTimes article they mention she was once married with Morton J. Fink. Here on FamilySearch we have a marriage for Jenette S Kahn with Morton J Fink in Connecticut -> [8], and here we have her with an address in NY and Connecticut and that she was born May 16, 1947 -> [9]. @Iftekharahmed96: There's been a lot of back-and-forth and much, much work on Magazine Management, Cadence and other Marvel-related company articles over the years. Magazine Management was around before Marvel, and Marvel was actually only a very small part of the company, so I think project editors would be pretty much of accord that Magazine Management should stay. --Tenebrae (talk) 17:09, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I see, that's understandable. So Marvel Comics (formerly Atlas Comics) was a subsidiary to Marvel Comics Group (formerly Magazine Management) who's parent company was Marvel Entertainment, correct? If that's the case, what happened to Marvel Comics (formerly Atlas Comics) over time? Did it get absorbed into Marvel Comics Group or was it dissolved as a legal entity? Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 17:46, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure it's all cited at the Marvel Comics article. In a nutshell, Atlas Comics wasn't a company but a brand — those 1950s comics were put out by multiple shell companies from Azmiuth to Zenith, all owned by Martin Goodman, who also owned Magazine Management. Beginning in 1961, Goodman began using Marvel Comics as a brand, and gradually brought the comics under Magazine Management, rather than any of the various shell companies. At some point, I believe after the sale to Perfect/Cadence, the Marvel Comics Group division was formed, and from there evolved into the various entities since. I might have a detail or two wrong since I'm doing this off the top of my head, but it's all cited in the various articles.--Tenebrae (talk) 17:59, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. So was Magazine Management a shell corporation too, or was that registered as a legal entity? because I'm informed about Perfect/Cadence acquiring Magazine Management. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 20:12, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Magazine Management was an incorporated business entity. Atlas and early Marvel Comics were published through something like 28 shell companies, from Azimuth to Zenith. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:14, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I thought so, just wanted to make sure on that. Marvel's incorporated history is so complicated with all these shell corporations that Martin Goodman created. Why did he have so many shell corporations for Marvel intellectual properties? Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 20:18, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If I remember the various books on Marvel history correctly, having different shell corporations limited your legal liability. If some municipality decided to sue you for having an "obscene" crime comic, for instance, your exposure was limited to the particular shell corporation that published that comic. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:21, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that's an interesting thought to consider. Should that piece of information be placed in the Marvel Comics article (or his article)? the fact that Martin Goodman created these shell corporations to host Marvel intellectual properties in order to limit his legal liabilities? Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 21:21, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As long as it's properly footnoted. I'm sure you can find a supporting cite for that in one Marvel Comics history or other. Here's some raw info to start, from Atlas Comics (1950s): "The Atlas logo united a line put out by the same publisher, staff and freelancers through 59 shell companies, from Animirth Comics to Zenith Publications.[cite: "Marvel Indicia Publishers". Grand Comics Database.]" --Tenebrae (talk) 21:26, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the basic. So what do you think of this sentence, "The Atlas logo united a line put out by the same publisher, staff and freelancers through 59 shell companies, from Animirth Comics to Zenith Publications. [cite: "Marvel Indicia Publishers". Grand Comics Database.]. Martin Goodman created these shell corporations in order to host Marvel intellectual properties with limited legal liabilities." Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 10:39, 5 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Iftekharahmed96: I would take out the word Marvel, since Goodman did that with all his companies from the very start. The only other thing is that I would definitely find an authoritative book or article with which to cite that claim — shouldn't be hard to find — since without such a cite, we're only making a (very good, educated) guess at his reasoning. --Tenebrae (talk) 17:21, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, I think you should do the honours of adding the line to the Martin Goodman article and the Marvel Comics article. After all, you're the one to have explained it all to me, and you're the one perfecting the sentence. And there's no question that you'd find far more appropriate citation than I would. What is your thought on that proposition? Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 17:31, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to. Might not get to it immediately, since I'd have to hunt through my library, but I promise I will. And, obviously, feel free to do it first! --Tenebrae (talk) 17:32, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously?

I actually didn't notice 90% of this until just now. I can't believe no one even told her off for it; most editors who had been here as long as she had would be blocked on site if they pulled something like that.

Hijiri 88 (やや) 10:33, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I wasn't talking about the "verbal attack in an edit-summary", which I haven't read. I was talking about the content of the edit, which consist of adding the word "Drama" beneath all of my comments, and in one case in the middle of one of said comments. Personally, I find it more amusing than offensive (assuming causing offense was her intent), but it is still really weird that she hasn't been blocked yet when she thinks it being "her talk page" means she is allowed alter or recontextualize other people's comments.

Even more sock puppetry[edit]

Hello, Tenebrae. Do you remember this vandal that disrupts WP:FILM articles? Well, they have gotten even more difficult to deal with. I just discovered two accounts, No20123 and No1092, that appear to be the exact same user (they make remarkably similar edits and edit similar articles). And, if this is any indication, they are probably tied to this sock puppeteer. DarkKnight2149 03:57, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate Report in AN3[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you created a report very shortly after I did on AN3. I deleted it so we don't accidentally end up with two discussion threads. However, I couldn't come up with a good way to preserve your comment and keep it attributed to you. Could you re-add it to the report I filed with your signature?

There already is an ANI, started by an editor other than myself, regarding Hillbillyholiday's edit-warring and disruptive editing across numerous articles: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Mass deletions and edit warring across celebrity articles by Hillbillyholiday. In the case of this article, he is correct in that 3RR has an exception for BLP issues. However — and especially in his last couple reverts — he is edit-warring to remove completely RS-cited passages, with cites from two books and the History Channel. I'm sure he has his reasons — but since it doesn't involve BLP sourcing, those reasons don't matter since he is WP:OWN-ing and showing a pattern of combative behavior.--Tenebrae (talk) 22:09, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

styleguide question: birthdays[edit]

hi Tenebrae, i saw the changes you made to Tim Miller (director) and wanted to check in with you about the birthday citation. i was under the impression that birthdays were common knowledge and didn't need to be cited. most pages i've encountered don't have birthdays cited. see Ryan Reynolds and David Fincher for example. i understand wikipedia's policy is to not cite IMDb, but since you deleted the birthday information and demanded a citation to keep it up, i decided to try for that. i can't find any clear answer as to why most pages don't have citations for their birthdays. if you can't provide me with an answer, i'm uncertain why it is that the birthday can't stay in the article to match the style of other people like Tim Miller--other directors and entertainment workers. Query[edit]

Hi Tenebrae. What did you mean by The proposer should not be bringing a motion to close.? --John (talk) 18:08, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your question on my talk page, I believe I gave my reasons at the ANI. And I'm not sure why you're continuing to harass me on my talk page. My very first comment to you at the ANI was said with maturity, diplomacy and respectfulness — go back and read it again. Nevertheless, you've made our interaction remarkably personal, demanding an apology on behalf of another editor, which the other editor himself isn't even asking me for — suggesting to me you two know each other in real life. You've threatened me and others who disagree with you — and many do disagree with you. I'm not sure what you want from me personally or why you're hounding me, but I find it harassing and unbecoming. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:13, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. It'd make things a lot easier if you could just answer the question, but if you can't, I certainly can't force you. --John (talk) 18:34, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop continuing to say falsehoods about me. I did answer the question. Read sentence two at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents&diff=prev&oldid=797530677. And removing my original reply? I'm not sure why anyone being transparent and aboveboard would do that.--Tenebrae (talk) 18:37, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that says It is inherently a conflict of interest, since his closing proposal favors his own position and biases. So I suppose what I'm asking is: how does my proposal "favor my own position"? What is my position, in your opinion? --John (talk) 18:40, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@John: If you'd like to discuss this at the ANI, in the open, I'm happy do that. As I previously mentioned, your continually coming to my talk page to hound me and threaten me in a remarkably personal way is harassment. I'm not sure what I have to do stop you from doing so, but I will ask once more and hope that you display a sense of honor: Please stop coming to my talk page about an issue that does not involve me. This ANI is about user:Hillbillyholiday. You are harassing me, and you need to stop. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:44, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Harrassment" is a criminal offence in the UK and USA. Please be careful when accusing editors of potentially illegal acts, as such unwarranted accusations can in themselves be considered an offence. See also: this. --Hillbillyholiday (talk) 19:35, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Hillbillyholiday: "Harassment" is an accepted term at the Wikipedia policy Wikipedia:Harassment. You and User:John are now tag-teaming to harass me. Do it again, and I'm opening an ANI about the two of you, and maybe we'll find out what the deal is with you two.--Tenebrae (talk) 19:39, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how offering some friendly advice counts as harrassment in any way. You threw yourself into that ANI report with gusto and your poor behaviour came under some scrutiny -- you are definitely "involved". --Hillbillyholiday (talk) 19:47, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Hillbillyholiday: The proper place to talk about your behavior, which is what the ANI is all about, is at the ANI page — not here. And your attempts at deflection aren't appropriate or even working. Please limit your comments about the ANI to the ANI page. Your coming here is harassment when the issue is properly being discussed elsewhere.--Tenebrae (talk) 19:50, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Talk:Uma Thurman. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing.

Warning is in regard to the following comment, "I even agree with the problematic Hillbillyholiday on that", found here. The comment is an inappropriate and uncalled for personal attack. My suggestion is for you to strike "the problematic" from that sentence. -- ψλ 00:37, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That is really stretching the definition of "personal attack." AlexEng(TALK) 00:49, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) AlexEng, if Tenebrae had said, "Even I agree with Hillbillyholiday", that would have been sufficient and would get his point across. To add a commentary on Hillbillyholiday that speaks negatively of him as an editor, is a personal attack. We are to comment on edits, not editors. Especially when you consider the recent AN/I regarding Hillbillyholiday and the bad blood that obviously exists between them, I don't see how you can think it's anything but an attack. -- ψλ 00:57, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, User:AlexEng. And to reply to @Winkelvi:: First, you give a false signature (-- ψλ) to obscure the fact that you are Winkelvi, who has been asked by me and others to stay away from me, a request I make again — along with pointing out that, hypocritically, you have told me not to go on your talk page, yet you come here. Second, Hillbillyholiday has just received a significant sanction at ANI for his problematic editing. "Problematic" is not a value judgment but an objective description of the issue at the ANI here. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:55, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a false signature, I changed the look of it months ago from WV to what it is now. Back to the point and warning above: "The problematic Hillbillyholiday" is a comment on him, not on his behavior. Certainly you know this as you are someone who makes his living on sentence structure, meaning, and syntax. -- ψλ 01:00, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, since Winkelvi suffers from "I can't hear you": Not an attack. An objective description, supported by strong evidence by not just me but many editors. If anyone is doing any attacking, it's User:Winkelvi, who comes to my talk page unbidden and uninvited, for no reason except to stir up trouble. It was a completely discretionary move that did not have to be made, yet he choose to be aggressive and do so. I say again: Stay away from my talk page. You are harassing me. --Tenebrae (talk) 01:02, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And when Hillbillyholiday is viciously cursing at the admin who blocked him, among other incivilities, the issue isn't his edits — it's his behavior. --Tenebrae (talk) 01:04, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have no interest in going 'round and 'round with you on this and will close my part of the discussion with the following: HH thanked me for the warning. I take that as his agreement with me that you personally attacked his character. My personal stand on this is clear: it was an attack against him as an editor, not his behavior -- that is blatantly obvious since you have a long, long history of stating things exactly as you want them to be read, with no misunderstanding. That in mind, you really should strike the attacking phrase as a show of good faith and civility. -- ψλ 01:12, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
To put it more bluntly than "completely discretionary move": This is none of your business ... and you do it only to attack and annoy me, as you have sadistically relished in doing in the past. Second: These comments. This edit summary. Quote from the admin sanction: "Hillbillyholiday is encouraged to take disputes to the article talk page or the BLP noticeboard" — since he was not doing that, preferring to insult, belittle and demean other editors. His behavior was problematic, and this is an extremely polite way to put it. But again: This is none of your business, and I see exactly what you're doing. Come back to my talk page, and I'm seeking admin intervention for your harassment. --Tenebrae (talk) 01:20, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rande Gerber birthdate[edit]

Hello Tenebrae,

How are you? I would like to ask you a question about the birthdate of Rande Gerber. Most articles tells that his birthdate is April 27, 1962 but all of them are not "serious" sources to my opinion. I found an article in The Boston Herald who cite a source from People that on Thursday April 27, 2017 Rande Gerber celebrates this day his 54th anniversary. If we do the math it means he would have been born on April 27... 1963 ! It's the only serious source I found but I'm not sure if the journalist from People is meaning really this or if he/she miscalculated by accident. I don't dare risking putting this source on the wiki article for his birthdate in 1963. I would like to ask you your advice for that, if you want. Here is the link -> [13] Thanks, my friend. --Danielvis08 (talk) 04:11, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the original article by Nicole Sands from People -> [14] --Danielvis08 (talk) 04:16, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Danielvis08: Oy! Yes, my guess is your guess, especially given how the tequila company for which he had modeled said "bringing the party since '62." I think what I can do is point out the discrepancy to People and see how they handle it — they may recheck their figures and update the article.--Tenebrae (talk) 19:35, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Tenebrae. Specially since I saw another serious source who, on May 17, 2017 say that he is aged 55 years old and born in 1962 in Long Island -> [15]. --Danielvis08 (talk) 20:42, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Danielvis08: I think the confluence of so many outlets saying 1962 indicates that the 1963 suggestion is a fringe outlier and likely a math error. I think you're right. I'd support that. (People hasn't changed anything on its April 27 article.) --Tenebrae (talk) 02:07, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciated your kind words at Talk:Cry 'Havoc' and was hoping to consult with you on the remainder of this topic. I made a few related edits, with one (a redlink) at Talk:Cry "Havoc" here and two others here and here by moving Cry Havoc to Cry Havoc (board game) and redirecting Cry Havoc to the Cry havoc dab page. I also considered whether Cry 'Havoc' should be moved to Cry 'Havoc' (film), with Cry Havoc (film) redirecting to it.

I would be grateful for your advice, however, as to whether such edits constitute ignoring of WP:SMALLDETAILS and, importantly, whether you would support such changes or would prefer some other changes or no additional ones. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 21:59, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya, Tenebrae. Thank you for your reply as I was hoping that you wouldn't have an objection to my completing the redlinked moves mentioned above. You're right, of course, that the small detail of the quotes should be sufficient for disambiguation but, taking into account such titles as Marry Me (1932 film) and Marry Me! (1949 film) --- rather than Marry Me (film) and Marry Me! --- or Remember? (1939 film) and Remember (2015 film) --- rather than Remember? and Remember (film) --- the addition of qualifiers might seem to follow an already established pattern, such as it is. Needless to say (but said anyway), the forms without the qualifiers (Marry Me!) already redirect or would redirect to the forms with qualifiers (Marry Me! (1949 film)).
I realize that the comparisons aren't exact since there is only one film titled Cry 'Havoc', but since there is also Cry Havoc (board game) which was originally titled simply Cry Havoc, it just seemed that having a qualifier for the film would make it all clearer. Sorry to go on at length with this, but I felt that such an explanation might put it all into perspective. Thank you again and everything appears to have a way of falling into place after exchanging views with you. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 23:01, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Knepper neutrality[edit]

Hi, I'm a bit confused as to why the rape accusation on the Robert Knepper page should be under the Personal life section rather than its own Controversy section due to neutrality? It's a controversial subject, and other articles which include controversial items are under their own heading. Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 19:34, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Abbyjjjj96: Glad you asked. See WP:CSECTION: "Avoid sections...focusing on criticisms or controversies." There's a whole section at this page explaining why in detail. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:41, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I still find this a bit confusing since so many other articles have controversy sections, but thank you for the response and page link. —Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 16:39, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Abbyjjjj96: I agree with you 100% — Wikipedia can often be confusing until we get the hang of it. What you're describing is a common phenomenon called WP:OTHERSTUFF, which is basically that when other articles are doing things below standards or not according to policies/guidelines, we try to bring them up, rather than bring the article that we're working on down. But you've got one very important skill: communicating and collaborating with fellow editors. I can't tell you how productive that is and how more smoothy it makes everything run. I thank you for that! --Tenebrae (talk) 20:16, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ann-Margret[edit]

Hello my friend Tenebrae,

I happen to be on the genealogy site Ancestry and they have the births for Sweden from the 1800s until 1943. I saw that Ann-Margret was born in Stockholm, not Valsjobyn, she probably moved there when she was very young. I found a source from The Hollywood Reporter who tells she was born in Stockholm -> [17]. Here is another great source for Stockholm -> [18]. On the article in French I corrected it for Stockholm. And one of the 2 sources used in en:wiki is Film Reference who, since then, have also changed it too -> . com/Actors-and-Actresses-A-Ba/Ann-Margret.html. Just to let you know. --Danielvis08 (talk) 20:41, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

PostTrak[edit]

Hey, I wanted to answer you directly anyway so you can get a little more insight. This is what I was going to post at WT:MOSFILM: I follow movie news a lot and saw PostTrak popping up more often and couldn't help but think of its value on Wikipedia, especially when novice editors push for user ratings. I thought that exactly like having two film-critic aggregators, that having different sources would round out the response where possible. I made the Wikipedia article for a dual purpose, to give readers the service's background and to also give editors an understanding of the service for actual editing. (Would it really have been supportable if it was still a red link?) I didn't find it controversial to add and was simply bold about it. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 22:25, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Erik: Naw, we're good. It's probably a good thing to include. But you're a veteran editor and you must know that if less-experienced ones start seeing the MOS change without any discussion at all, it sets a bad precedent. Besides, there's no deadline — taking a few days to get several editors' input is never a bad idea in the long run.--Tenebrae (talk) 22:41, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Survivor[edit]

Tenebrae, I am CaptainMarc. I am 21 and a Survivor and Reality Show superfan but new to Wikipedia editing. I made the changes you reversed under the IP address: User talk:2601:646:8101:CFA8:FC19:B9AD:A286:DA86. I should have been logged in but didn't notice that I was not. Sorry about that.

It looks like I need to be much more careful about citing reliable sources for living person biographies. I will plan to make sure I have a source for all these changes I make. And, for the next little while I am going to only make one change, make sure it is ok, if not discuss it to make sure I know why not and then move on. I also have my parents helping me try to do this right while I am learning. Please be patient with me for a bit.

CaptainMarc (talk) 22:44, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@CaptainMarc: Quite alright, and thank you for being willing to discuss and for your willingness to learn more about Wikipedia editing, which is pretty strict with biographies of living people. If you have any questions after reading that policy linked to in the previous sentence, Wikipedia editors are usually happy to help when asked. Happy Wiki'ing! --Tenebrae (talk) 22:51, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think you changed the singular possessive Toomes's (belonging to Toomes) to the ambiguous Toomes' in several locations. Your edit comment was "US subject, US grammar. Restoring stable version." The use of an apostrophe only, and not an 's, for a possessive form for a singular noun ending in an \s\ or \z\ sound is NOT a matter of U.S. vs. British or other forms of English. There are American English writers who use the original, less ambiguous, consistent form of adding an 's to all singular nouns to form possessives. I think you will find among good style houses a decent split between the two forms, if not a majority of really consistent, careful style guides or house preferring the 's. (Also, it's not a grammar issue; it's typography, style, or format.)

In this case, you have a character named Toomes. Since he's just a made-up character, someone reading the article (and especially someone hearing the article in audio form) would not have any reason to think that his name isn't Toome. The possessive form Toomes' does not disambiguate from the possessive Toome's for a character named Toome. Thus, the 's adds clarity. The form Toomes's clearly shows that the noun is Toomes. Another possible confusion (depending on the sentence) is that a reader may think there are multiple characters named Toome (perhaps the members of the Toome family) and the possessive form Toomes' denotes something belonging to multiple people named Toome. Again, the traditional form Toomes's eliminates the confusion.

Would you please reconsider these changes, or at least discuss them on the talk page, instead of just reverting what I did (and explained and gave reasoning for) without much of an argument or explanation? Thank you. Holy (talk) 01:35, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Holidays
From Stave one of Dickens A Christmas Carol

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

So you see even Charles was looking for a reliable source :-) Thank you for your contributions to the 'pedia. ~ MarnetteD|Talk 23:14, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Kazan[edit]

Concerning this edit, I'm surprised you aren't aware that ibdb isn't any much more of a reliable source than imdb. You might want to consider removing the reference as unreliable. -- ψλ 19:01, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Winkelvi: Internet Broadway Database is the professionally run, official website of The Broadway League. It more than qualifies as a reliable source under Wikipedia standards. Her previous birth date claim wasn't cited at all, which is a violation of WP:BLP.--Tenebrae (talk) 19:07, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I'm mistaken, then. Can you point me to where ibdb is mentioned on a WP policy page re: reliable and unreliable sourcing that "clears it" as a reliable source? -- ψλ 19:09, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Winkelvi: Perhaps you show me where IBDb is mentioned on a WP policy page as unreliable. Because under WP:RS standards, it's reliable. I wasn't aware of any Wikipedia policy page with a complete list of all the reliable sites we're allowed to use. And I would appreciate your conducting this conversation on the article talk page, where this conversation belongs.
If you want to go to WP:RS and start an RfC about IBDb, you have every right to do that. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:14, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not trying to be contentious. It has always been my understanding that any website that can be edited by the public, such as imdb is, doesn't qualify as a reliable source. I also seem to remember that there is a place, somewhere within Wikipedia, that gives a list of what have been tagged as unreliable sources. Like I said, perhaps I'm wrong -- I do recall reading at some point in time that ibdb was included on that list in the same manner as imdb. I have no intention of starting an RfC, I'm just trying to communicate my concerns regarding the viability of ibdb as an acceptable reliable source for our purposes. -- ψλ 19:19, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, the Internet Broadway Database is owned by The Broadway League and run by a professional staff. It is not user-generated. For more information and the executive staff's names, see https://www.ibdb.com/about. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:23, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
imdb is owned by Amazon and also run by a professional staff. Wikipedia is owned by Jimmy Wales and is run by a staff apart from contributors to content. I don't think that who owns the entity and who runs it is in question. It's how they get their information and whether or not it's a truly reliable source. If it is, great. I'm just questioning whether it is. If I'm wrong, that's okay with me. I'm not trying to WP:WIN here. -- ψλ 19:30, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You say you're not trying to be contentious but I have to keep repeating myself and you clearly did not read the "About" page I linked above. IMDb has instructions right on it for users to submit data, which as many people have found over the years is neither editor nor vetted or only cursorily so. There is no function on IBDb to allow that.
Additionally, here's The New York Times that calls her 67 in April 2008, a month before she would turn 68 in May 2008.--Tenebrae (talk) 19:37, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
YOu seem to be totally misunderstanding me. I'm not contesting the content, in fact, I believe it's likely correct. I'm just saying that I'm doubting ibdb as a reliable source. No worries, though, I'm not going to take this any further beyond maybe asking over at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard. It's not an issue for me, just something I'm bringing up because I have been under the impression for years that ibdb is considered only as reliable as imdb. Cheers! -- ψλ 20:12, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You have every right to doubt. You certainly haven't been attempting to understand what I've been writing, however, since I've provided a link and other evidence that users cannot post at IBDb, and that is a professionally staffed, official website of The Broadway League, fulfilling the standards of WP:RS. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:15, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Spider-Man a FA?[edit]

It seems like the article Spider-Man was attempted to be a FA at one time. I was wondering if we can maybe try our best to make it happen. I think we might be able to if we work together on that goal. It's off to a decent start. It's just a little excessive on figuring out what to do by myself. January 2018[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Lainie Kazan. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. -- ψλ 02:01, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Winkelvi: Here you go again. No: I reverted an edit to the status quo. When you reinserted that reverted edit, rather than seeking consensus on the talk page, you began edit-warring. And if you continue on this path, you're going to find ourself at the 3RR noticeboard. --Tenebrae (talk) 02:10, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable awards in WP:Film[edit]

Hi there, per this edit summary at Logan you say "WP:FILM does not include non-notable awards, defined as those without a Wikipedia article", but I couldn't find that specifically on the project page. I don't disagree with you, but, in fact, was looking for it, because of some trouble I'm trying to avoid at The Young Karl Marx. An IP keeps adding a French-language red link (no real Google hits either) as an award, and I don't want to EW. Was looking for the policy so I can point to it on a noticeboard or wherever appropriate. Thanks! JesseRafe (talk) 17:13, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@JesseRafe: Glad to help! At Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Film, it says, "Awards included in lists should have a Wikipedia article to demonstrate notability. Because of the proliferation of film festivals and 'award mills', festival awards should be added with discretion, with inclusion subject to consensus. Awards bestowed by web-only entities are not included." Hope that helps, snd I'll be glad to check in at The Young Karl Marx.--Tenebrae (talk) 17:17, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Aha, at the MOS. No wonder I didn't find it. Thanks, for both! JesseRafe (talk) 17:19, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Max Mutchnick[edit]

You reverted my edit on Max Mutchnick but the existing citation is unverifiable. How can we keep that? The citation is "Stated in interview on Inside the Actors Studio"Patapsco913 (talk) 18:44, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Patapsco913: I agree that an undated, non-timestamped TV-show claim is not RS. So I'd have to ask you in turn why you felt it was OK for you to leave there. In any case, it looks like I missed one errant cite in the roughly three dozen such WP:LINKSPAM edits you added today, so you are correct in this circumstance. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:49, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well my focus is not to clean up every single article I come across on Wikipedia (which I do a lot). Someone else could try to find a copy of the interview. Nate Bloom is a source that is used by a lot of people on wikipedia so I took a look and he was used on hundreds of articles (many of which I added)...so I linked them to his profile to enable people to take a look at who he is. I understand the notability argument. I previously tried to get comments on naming people who are frequently relied on as experts as notable but it was never commented on. I will reverse engineer my edits that you reverted and see if I had some rationale. I will admit that I probably was a little overzealous and perhaps lazy as when I finished one citation, I used it to piggyback to other biographies probably where it was not needed although I feel two citations is important.19:03, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
@Patapsco913: I appreciate what you're saying and I applaud your forthrightness. I think given the issue of WP:LINKSPAM, it might not be the most constructive thing to have two cites where one WP:RS cite is already there to support a non-contentious fact. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:06, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Alrighty. I seem to run into a lot of people that delete sources that maybe are a little light on info on the subject so I figured if I had two sources from two different authors, I would run into less arguments (many people would deem identifying someone as Jewish as contentious) which seems to include the fella who put Nate Bloom up for deletion regarding my edits on John D. Hertz. I created Nate Bloom to show that he is pretty much the main guy in determining the Jewish origin of celebrities and public figures out there and widely cited.Patapsco913 (talk) 19:40, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Questia[edit]

Can you do me a favor? There's a citation that an IP editor has called a hoax (see this edit). I have no idea whether the IP editor or the original editor who added the citation is the hoaxer. However, the source cited is available on Questia at this link. I don't have access to Questia, and I'm too lazy to apply – however, you're listed as someone who does have access. If you still do, could you see if Joel Silver discussed the original title of House of Wax in this issue of CineAction? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:52, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@NinjaRobotPirate:. I haven't tried it in a long time, and when I went to sign in, I got this: "Your account. Our records indicate your membership has expired. Please reactivate your membership...." When I tried, it wanted payment. I'll have to check with whoever granted the Questia access sometime back. (And I'll comment out that box in the meantime!).
Having the the discussion and then having gone to the CineAction contents/preview page you cited, where I could find no trace of a Joel Silver interview, I'm inclined to want to err on the side of caution and leave the claim out of the article. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:36, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it seems like the original addition was a hoax. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 00:46, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mrbrklyn[edit]

Hi Tenebrae. It might be a good idea just to let Mrbrklyn be. They cannot respond to any posts since their talk page access has been removed. They've been caught doing something they shouldn't, and there are now multiple admins watching them in addition to you and other editors. The next mistep they make will probably lead to an indefinite block, which will be the outcome unless they reassess their behavior up until now and decide being WP:HERE is better than WP:NOTHERE. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:27, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: I'm sure you're right, and I will take your advice. I let my astonishment at his actions prompt me to "feed the troll." Thanks for taking the time to help me find "the better angels of our nature"! --Tenebrae (talk) 02:32, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Cite Instagram[edit]

Hello, Tenebrae. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Cite Instagram".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 22:01, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The small matter of a glacier in Iceland[edit]

Hi

Some time ago (while not logged into this user) I edited the article on The Iron Giant to correct the name shown in the movie of the glacier in Iceland on which the pieces of the Giant coalesce at the end. When I looked back recently I saw that I had unwittingly entered something of an edit war, with the latest shot being fired by you when you said "Not one word in the film supports that glacier claim". I think this (very very minor, but isn't that why we're here?) question can be easily resolved by just looking at the movie, so I went ahead and grabbed two screenshots. First of the original edition, and then of the signature edition: https://imgur.com/a/o4SnS As a note, the movie misplaces its umlauts. Icelandic does not have the ü letter, but it does use ö.

As you can see from my edit history, I am not a very experienced user, so now I wonder if I should have put this on the talk page of the article instead? Knuthove (talk) 12:26, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Knuthove: Thanks for discussing. I have a copy of the movie and will take a look. It may be that white lettering on white snow made the lettering hard to read. I will check. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:35, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Knuthove: I apologize for having been busy and not getting to this. I'm doing it today. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:05, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all! It is not a high priority issue by any definition. Knuthove (talk) 10:12, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Knuthove: Thanks for your understanding ... and I forgot again! Tell you what, if I don't check it out and reply by Friday, feel free to add it and I won't reverse it unless I look at the film and definitively find different. You're a patient and gracious colleague.--Tenebrae (talk) 18:12, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Knuthove: Well, you're absolutely correct — it's there at 01:18:56 of the DVD. The briefly on screen white-on-white lettering through me. I'll go ahead and add it. This is how good Wikipedia collaborations work; I wish the combative anon IPs had been as thoughtful, meticulous, and evidence-based as you! --Tenebrae (talk) 00:20, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad to have been able to help resolve the issue. I wish you all the best! Knuthove (talk) 14:31, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tooltip issue[edit]

You seem to be having difficulties using tooltips in relation to infobox templates. How can I help? Phinn (talk) 22:41, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Phinn: Thanks. I'd appreciate any instruction. All I get by hovering my cursor over the names is a floating question mark. That said, more than one editor reverted the infobox dates.--Tenebrae (talk) 22:43, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Yes, I'm having a bit of back and forth on that one. It seems to be a personal preference rather than anything do with the relevant manual of style advice. The Template:Marriage allows for abbreviations to be displayed in infoboxes rather than full words and dates to aid readability. However the abbreviations will display the full word or date if the reader desires using tooltips. So if you hover over 'm.' it will display married, 'd.' will show 'died', 'div.' is 'divorced', 'sep.' is 'separated', etc.. Likewise only the years will display even if you put in the full date but the full date will also then become available using a tooltip. As an example, look at Winston Churchill. His infobox spouse entry states "Clementine Hozier (m. 1908)" but the 'm.' and '1908' are both underlined to indicate it has a tooltip. Hovering over 'm.' gives you 'married' and hovering over '1908' gives you 12 September 1908. If you are only getting a floating question mark then just try not moving your mouse for a second or two. It usually comes up within a second for me but YMMV. It may not also work if you're using a mobile device. Phinn (talk) 23:03, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IP hopper on Spider-Man[edit]

Hello. That IP hopper who was edit warring on the Spider-Man film articles has posted an insulting message on my talk page and I've warned him accordingly. Should we build a case on it if it's necessary? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 00:40, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Sjones23: He's behaving belligerently, that's for sure. If he continues to edit against MOSFILMS or MOSCOMICS consensus (whichever it its; I'm not sure offhand), then I think reporting him as an IP vandal / asking for protection on the articles he's editing would be appropriate. --Tenebrae (talk) 14:45, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Black Panther[edit]

Hey I was wondering if you got to see this yet and if so, would you be willing to take a stab at writing the first draft of the plot. Also I just took it off my watchlist to avoid spoilers so could you please keep an eye on it Thanks. Also @Favre1fan93 and Adamstom.97:.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 15:05, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article is in very good shape as it stands. I'm going to try and hold out through the weekend before I unwatch it, because the first release is Feb 13. I will be hopefully seeing it in a weeks time when it releases in the states to be back watching and working on the article. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:29, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually according to the article the first release is the 12th in the UK. For some reason, I thought it was today. Monday is an odd choice. Is it a holiday there? Anyway, Tenebrae if you could wait till then to post your draft, that would be great.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 18:02, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@TriiipleThreat: Absolutely; I would not post a plot before first commercial release. That said, between now and Tuesday I have hellacious work deadlines, so I can probably help edit a plot rather than help write one. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:08, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's the 12th or 13th. I've been finding conflicting info on that. The 3P source in the article said Feb 12, while IMDb and the Marvel UK Twitter say Feb 13. I just found a BBC article posted 3 hours ago that says Feb 13th, so I'm going with that. Regardless, first releases are the beginning of next week. Thanks in advance Tenebrae for helping out and holding down the fort for us. It does help too that there is semi protection until March 1, so the onslaught should not be too bad. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:18, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am likely going to see it on the 14th or 15th, so I will be back on the page then. - adamstom97 (talk) 20:44, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Tenebrae. I've seen the film so I'm back to watching the article. Question, did Disney give out a press kit? Was hoping to check some actors/characters against it. Thanks. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:16, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The press kit is here. Disney's ones seem to be open for all to access, unlike some studios that require you to be an actual member of the press. - adamstom97 (talk) 02:51, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Heavy Editing Thanks[edit]

Hi, Tenebrae - Thank you for your editing on the Nate_Butler_(comics) article. You have made it a much better piece overall. I'm sorry for inserting wording that was deemed "wildly inappropriate" by you and which sounded like "ballyhooing." That was not my intent, and I am glad a neutral editorial eye such as yours was available to prune all the extra stuff out so it doesn't come off sounding like puffery. I'm a part-timer and nearly-total novice at this and was following the lead of many other similar Wikipedia articles I had read. However, I will try to do better in the future. Thanks again. Pre-production[edit]

Hello. Can you please tell me where exactly in WP:FILMS does it say not to list films in pre-production?

Personally, I would prefer keeping them in List of films based on DC Comics, but if we have that rule against them, it's alright. I'm just curious about the rule.

List of Walt Disney Pictures films has a lot of pre-production films listed, too. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 06:08, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking. I'll look it up and link to it. I've been off Wikipedia a few days or I'd have responded sooner.--Tenebrae (talk) 20:54, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, @Daniel Carrero: The general guideline is at WP:NFF. While that refers to not creating articles for films said to be in pre-production, the logic applies to listing such films elsewhere: "...[B]udget issues, scripting issues and casting issues can interfere with a project well ahead of its intended filming date. The assumption should also not be made that because a film is likely to be a high-profile release it will be immune to setbacks—there is no 'sure thing' production." --Tenebrae (talk) 01:33, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted you to know that just in case you wanted to re-add the information in your style of adding information. --Rtkat3 (talk) 15:51, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Rtkat3: Thanks. I'm afraid it was unclear to me the way it was written. I'd be happy to try to add that, but, obviously, you're free to do it. If I could make a suggestion, which you could take or leave, of course, why don't you try to re-add the information yourself but make it clearer, simpler and a bit less wordy? What do you think? --Tenebrae (talk) 13:45, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you like to re-add it in your own words if you'd like If I don't get to that today, go right ahead. Either way, she is right now playing a part in the Infinity Countdown storyline. --Rtkat3 (talk) 15:44, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Another list for you to check—awards and honors for Tina Turner[edit]

This list is getting to the point that the significant awards and honors for Tina Turner are getting crushed by the mass of third tier and non-notable awards She has won 274 awards from 335 nominations added by what seems to be a series of related accounts. This list-class article is now at 138 kbytes and needs a lot of clean-up in the prose section and a lot of prioritizing and selectivity in the list section. Most of all it needs a few watchers. With the career she’s had all these years, I’m quite ready to believe the totals are low, if anything. Just not every one in this one list.

Do you have any suggestions or comments? — Neonorange (Phil) — 20:22, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Can you suggest a way to have this anonymous editor blocked from editing Wikipedia? I tried to explain to them politely that competence is required on Wikipedia and that fancruft should be avoided but they clearly disagree: [19][20]. I have reverted most of their edits but they keep restoring their quasi-gibberish versions. This is a good sample of their style of writing. --Omnipaedista (talk) 17:53, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Omnipaedista:. I would go to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and list this anon IP there with a note that it seems like a very young or else uneducated person who has been edit-warring to keep reverting to his versions with atrocious grammar and huge MOS and style errors — and who refuses to discuss the issues on any talk page but simply keeps edit-warring. Add that he has been persistent across numerous articles, and has made no or virtually no constructive edits (as I have seen with your examples, which you might want to include). --Tenebrae (talk) 21:18, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alec Stevens[edit]

Dear Tenebrae,

I added a photo to the Alec Stevens (comics artist and illustrator) article this morning, only to find the entire second half of the article (and all external links) edited out of it. Do I need a wiki editor to put the relevant info back in, and with footnotes? Would you be willing to help? I can provide the necessary links, etc.

For example, this line was removed:

Since 1992, Alec Stevens has served as an instructor at The Kubert School. Many of his former students are now industry professionals.

The proper reference to prove this is: http://www.kubertschool.edu/faculty/Alec_Stevens.html Some of the notable professionals who were his students include Sergio Cariello, Brandon Vietti, Micah Gunnell, and Alex Maleev, to name but a few.

Best regards, ```` Chrisart7

Hi, Chrisart7. I'll take a look. My first impressions is that being an instructor at the Kubert School is indeed notable. I'm not sure so that it's notable that alumni of a professional school have done to work in the profession. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:40, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your absence[edit]

You've been gone for nearly two weeks now. That's OK - you do whatever it is you have to do. I just hope you're not upset by the stuff I've been doing in the Superman article. I proposed changes on the Talk page (as I promised) and waited and waited but nobody responded; neither you nor the other guys despite my pings. If you have issues with the changes I've made, I have no problem discussing them. I have justified the major changes on the Talk:Superman. Kurzon (talk) 08:23, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At this point, I'm pretty much doing what I want on the Superman article, because neither you nor anyone else has made objections despite all the comments I've made on the Talk page. Silence is tacit approval. I have taken into consideration your past objections to my work (original research, organization of sections, the lede, etc), but if you disagree with anything I've done, please talk them over first instead of doing major reversions or I might go crazy. I hope you're doing OK, BTW. You're a very active Wikipedian but you've been gone for over three weeks now. I hope you're not dead or anything. Kurzon (talk) 06:57, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Kurzon: I couldn't take Wikipedia anymore for multiple reasons, of which dealing with you was only one. No hard feelings. I'm off Superman. I'd ask that the early historical content we hammered out together remain since that was talk-page consensus. I'm only back since I'm writing something about Charlie Sheen and there are BLP vios in that may affect my article if a lazy copy editor relies on Wikipedia and not its footnoted source. --Tenebrae (talk) 16:25, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Superman[edit]

Hi, Tenebrae. I recently visited the Superman article only to see that the lead has been greatly reduced and the page itself has had numerous sections deleted by a user named Kurzon. Happy to see you back[edit]

Having seen your user name in the revision history of film articles during the twelve-and-a-half years that I have been editing Wikipedia, it made me feel sad or even depressed to consider that you might have been lost to us. A hopeful note lay in the coincidence that your last edit on 9 June was on the 13th anniversary of your first edit, which seemed to indicate a deliberate choice and a possibility of returning. I'm glad that it turned out to be true.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 18:54, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Jack Kirby[edit]

On 21 August 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jack Kirby, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Jack Kirby created many famous comic book characters including Captain America, but his conception of Spider-Man was rejected for being too heroic? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jack Kirby. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Jack Kirby), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Can you offer your opinion in this discussion?[edit]

Hi. In the past you've offered your opinion in choosing photos for the Infobox. Can you offer your neutral opinion in this discussion on a related topic? It may go toward a precedent regarding captions. Thanks, and Happy Holidays. Nightscream (talk) 20:07, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your objective opinion is needed[edit]

Hi. It's been a long time, I think, since we've spoken. I hope everything is going well. Years ago, you participated in some of the initiatives intended to resolve the problem of a serial policy violator. For some time now, I've been having trouble with an editor who's been exhibiting similar persistent behavior, and he seems to be escalating. I could really use your help. I've outlined the evidence of his behavior here. A summary list of his behavior is located near the bottom of that post, beneath the heading "Summary", in case you want to read that first. If you could offer your objective opinion on that evidence, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 02:26, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :) BOZ (talk) 15:46, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting consensus[edit]

Please do not continue to revert changes that implement consensus. Nihlus 20:17, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The RfC is about transgender contestants only, and the consensus even reads that it's to avoid "deadnaming anyone who transitioned since their appearance on the show" (emphasis added). --Tenebrae (talk) 20:18, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The final consensus was for all the names. Do not continue your disruption. If you wish to challenge the close then do it properly. Nihlus 20:20, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Quote where the consensus closing says it's for all the names. Otherwise, I stand by my statement that you are deliberately and unilaterally misreading the consensus. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:22, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Quote where the consensus closing says it's for only transgendered names. As someone who read the discussion and the points made by everyone, it is obvious what the consensus is. If the close does not properly reflect that, then it should be altered or challenged as, again, the consensus is clear. Nihlus 20:29, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I did quote. You're deliberately not acknowledging that quote.--Tenebrae (talk) 20:30, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, you didn't. Consensus formed from an RfC is not bound by the initial question. Nihlus 20:32, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you're deliberating ignoring my quote from the consensus closure, which says it is about avoiding QUOTE "deadnaming anyone who transitioned since their appearance on the show" END QUOTE (emphasis added).--Tenebrae (talk) 20:35, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Read the full two sentences, please. There appears to be a consensus to list credited names only. My understanding based on reading this discussion and available sources is that "credited names" in this case is synonymous with "drag names" and also that this will not result in deadnaming anyone who transitioned since their appearance on the show. Where does it say list credited names for only trans contestants? Nihlus 20:47, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Credited drag names of transgender contestants, like the RfC title makes explicitly clear. You are deliberately misreading if you think this local consensus means that the civilian names of all drag performers are now forbidden in Wikipedia.--Tenebrae (talk) 20:51, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are deliberately misreading my comments and the comments left elsewhere. No where did I or anyone say it is forbidden to list their names anyone on Wikipedia. That is your own misreading. You have now misread the consensus, the close, my comments, and the the comments of others; as such, I will not be interacting with you from here on out as it is a waste of my time. Nihlus 20:53, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe I am misinterpreting anything. You and you alone have read the consensus as being to remove all the civilian names of these performers. That's because everyone else realizes that these names appear in the performers' own articles and it would be inconsistent and pointless to censor them one place but not another. So you're either in favor of censoring them all over Wikipedia or else you're being inexcusably inconsistent in a way no other editor is being.--Tenebrae (talk) 21:04, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Daredevil picture[edit]

Am I correct in believing that an image does not have to be "current" to represent the character well? A new user seems to disagree and I was curious to know your opinion. 2601:241:4280:161:5C6B:4E09:2EAB:9495 (talk) 11:53, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comic book series articles[edit]

Tenebrae, I know you helped a bit on the Daredevil series article when I first split that off from the character article. In case you were interested in that sort of thing, I also split off The Avengers, Doctor Strange, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, and others.  :) I planned to do more, but that is indefinitely on hold at the moment. 2601:241:4280:161:5C6B:4E09:2EAB:9495 (talk) 01:29, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I added a decent amount of sources. But this was still merged after review. Do you know of any others potential sources to use? I know of this and this maybe too. But still it might need to be better written and / or more sources for it. Jhenderson 777 16:07, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Did you see the Avengers Endgame. If so did you like it?Jhenderson 777 16:10, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jhenderson777: Hi, J. I'll look at Scribbly probably tonight. Didn't know anything about a merge discussion, but I'm only just dipping my toe back into Wikipedia after a lot of time off. Yes, I did see Endgame — twice, which sincerely is not to brag but to show that even at three hours, seeing it twice on two consecutive days was not too much. Honestly, the movie if anything is too short — I could have watched another half-hour, 45 minutes of character stuff. It really is that good, and I hope you get a chance to see it soon ... and even to see it again. --Tenebrae (talk) 17:32, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t know of a merge request. Just a reviewer merging the article after I just attempted to make it. I am glad you will like it. I plan to see it tomorrow. Jhenderson 777 17:39, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Magician from Mars[edit]

Thanks. Yeah User:Tenebrae, she only appeared in five issues of Amazing-Man Comics (#7-#11), but the costume she wore in #11 seems to have been a one-time costume. What she wore more consistently was this somewhat revealing red costume though:

Also worth mentioning is the Crimson Rider from Jumbo Comics #9 (August 1939), though some may conclude her to be more of a Western avenger, who had no superpowers:

Not sure if Rose Psychic from New Fun Comics (1935) counted either:

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Cheers[edit]

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well T. MarnetteD|Talk 21:45, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas![edit]

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :) BOZ (talk) 21:51, 23 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Holidays![edit]

Have a great rest of your holiday season! If you do not, then you should know that I have acquired a very particular set of skills on my time on Wikipedia. Skills that make me a nightmare for people who do not enjoy themselves. If you do not have a great time this year, I will find you... And I will block you.

But seriously, happy holidays. DarkKnight2149 22:12, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:Davey2010, User:*Treker, User:TriiipleThreat, User:Jhenderson777, BOZ — Thank you, my friends. I'm afraid I haven't been around much lately...this whole thing with someone proficient in computer coding trying to force a footnoting house style on Wikipedia that's used nowhere else has made being here anxiety-producing; it's like eccentric extremists have taken over, and unless one know computer programming, there's nothing one can do to stop them from making this thing we love and work at become eccentric, insular and less credible than a lot of mainstream readers already think it is. But I did pop in here for a minute to add an image and correct an article name, and I see all your good wishes for the holiday and wanted to take you for your camaraderie and your hard work over the years. Editors like yourselves help make being here worthwhile, and I treasure you people and my other longtime colleagues. Belated happy holidays and I wish you all a great new year. --Tenebrae (talk) 15:46, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fictionographies Question[edit]

Hi, thanks for your input from earlier, I didn't realize that I was being way too detailed. If it's okay with you, I've revamped my previous edits on Jimmy Woo to be as brief as possible without getting too descriptive. There's one paragraph that I'm struggling with trimming down, so can you please review that and the other edits I made to see if it satisfies guidelines? Lipshiz (talk) 16:24, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the update. Made some minor tweaks, but overall it looks good.Lipshiz (talk) 19:34, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question.[edit]

Hello! I’m just wondering, is tvguide.com considered a reliable source for information like someone’s birthday? Because I’ve seen people’s edits get reverted when they use it as a source, but other articles I’ve seen have it. R71B (talk) 23:59, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@R71B: I can't for the life of me imagine why TV Guide, an American institution that's been around since the 1950s, would not be considered a reliable source. If there's a specific article where this is happening, please let me know so I can join in the conversation there. --Tenebrae (talk) 16:06, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
