Museum hacks and museum edits[edit]

Hello there!

Upcoming events:

  • February 6–8: The third annual ArtBytes Hackathon at the Walters Art Museum! This year Wikimedia DC is partnering with the Walters for a hack-a-thon at the intersection of art and technology, and I would like to see Wikimedia well represented.
  • February 11: The monthly WikiSalon, same place as usual. RSVP on Meetup or just show up!
  • February 15: Wiki Loves Small Museums in Ocean City. Mary Mark Ockerbloom, with support from Wikimedia DC, will be leading a workshop at the Small Museum Association Conference on how they can contribute to Wikipedia. Tons of representatives from GLAM institutions will be present, and we are looking for volunteers. If you would like to help out, check out "Information for Volunteers".

I am also pleased to announce events for Wikimedia DC Black History Month with Howard University and NPR. Details on those events soon.

Alma Eikerman[edit]

Hi. Good job with this new article! I just wanted to let you know that in order for images to be used in Wikipedia articles, they have to be uploaded here. Wikipedia's software doesn't support embedding images that are hosted on other websites. The rules about uploading images are tricky. Because the subject is deceased, I was able to upload the image under a claim of fair use. I uploaded the image for you at File:Alma Eikerman.jpg and fixed the link in the article so the image now appears properly. Let me know if you have any questions! Hello, thanks for creating this page! I hope this event goes well. Just a recommendation - when you create an event like this, it's best to add categories for the event so it can be tracked (I've done this), and add it to the calendar and template. This allows people to find and track it, and also will likely increase the likelihood of remote support from experienced contributors who can correct mistakes on pages created and give feedback to new contributors. Hi Sarah, I attended the meet-up last year and you had some reference books we could use. I would be interested in a couple of books that may be in the NMWA library:
