We'll be gathering in Wilson Hall, in NIH's historic Building 1 to improve coverage of women scientists in Wikipedia
Staff from NIH and Wikipedia take enthusiastic first steps in a partnership to upgrade the scientific and medical information available through the popular online encyclopedia.
Wikipedians at Wilson Hall, NIH, in May 2013

In honor of Women’s History Month, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is organizing and hosting an edit-a-thon to improve coverage of women in science in Wikipedia. The focus will be on women in science from or supported by NIH, or the NIH’s historical holdings of women in science.

Activities will include new editor orientation and training, organized with Wikimedia DC. There will be a morning session, with a repeat in the afternoon. People are welcome to join for one or both sessions. Refreshments generously supplied by Wikimedia DC.

If you get stuck at security and need help, call Office of Communications and Public Liaison, 301-496-5787: someone will be there to help you out!

 THANK YOU!

A giant thank you to everyone who pitched in to prepare for Friday and/or to participate on the day! Keep editing - there's still plenty of time in Women's History Month!|

Template for Creating Info Box with Image[edit]

Cut and paste this example from the edit page here - replace the placeholder text with info for your scientist and a photo file from Wikimedia Commons, and you're good to go. (Having the birthdate means it will calculate age automatically.)

An example of what these info boxes look like is here: Linda Buck

Be careful that you don't leave any of the filler explanatory text there (the words in all capital letters). Always add "alternative image text" - that will show in rollover text and for people who use machines to read (e.g. because of visual impairment). It should be a short caption explaining the image.

The template is everything from here to the end of this section:
