Notice about Template:Signpost-subscription restructuring[edit]

I've moved the story text off of Template:Signpost-subscription to Template:Signpost-textonly [1] due to users' requests to have more flexibility with the latest Signpost news. If this is a problem I'm fine with it being reverted but believe that this is a much easier wayTemplate:Signpost-textonly for users to get the latest non-formatted Signpost news if necessary. Thanks! --Randy 05:41, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may need to make some changes to make this process easiest for you if you choose to keep the revision I made. You may choose to move the volume, issue, date information onto a template as well to make it easier to add the latest Signpost news. Keep me posted, though. --Randy 05:47, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Should I move the volume, issue, date info the the template as well, or a separate template, or just leave it be? --Randy 06:06, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Queen WikiProject[edit]

Thank you for joining the Queen WikiProject, We hope to get this project up after Queen (band) becomes a featured article, Sorry it took so long. If you have any questions you can leave them on the QueenWikiproject talk page. - Mtmtmt 17:35, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Signpost-textonly demo[edit]

I've put up an example of a possible use of Template:Signpost-textonly on my userpage if you want to check it out. --Randy 18:05, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IWWC and new user[edit]

A new user entered IWWC (:. (I mean absolutly new. first article was written for contest). However the article was a bit too short, but I was lientiant on it because its the users first article. I hope thats okay. Bawolff 03:10, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merci beaucoup![edit]

Thank you,Ral315/Archive 13!
Thank you for voting for my recent RfA, which passed (to my extreme surprise and shock) with a total tally of 66/15/2. Although you didn't give me a support vote, I would nevertheless like to thank you for your helpful comments and offer a helping hand in any admin-related tasks that may be required -- it's as simple as leaving a message on my talkpage. Thanks again! -→Buchanan-Hermit/!? 22:39, 23 May 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Status[edit]

It actually felt a lot longer than 3-1/2 months. But yes, I'm back and full of myself vandal-fighting energy. --Merovingian {T C @} 04:26, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good call[edit]

Yep that was me who leaked the first Trapped in the closet ep onto youtube, 500,000 views later viacom had youtube pull it :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 21:22, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ralbot[edit]

Special:Log/makebot

Let me know if you have any questions :-) --lightdarkness (talk) 21:49, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ralbot rocks[edit]

Nice to see it editing away. Also, see my question on the sign:newsroom discussion page about making this week's M.A.N.I.A. installment interactive. +sj + 03:23, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ralbot's delivery of the Signpost[edit]

Could you pretty please sign or at least date the signpost when you have it delivered? It's piling up on my user talk page, and I have to archive it manually, as Werdnabot can't find a timestamp for archival. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 21:38, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Erm, forgot this time? Werdna (talk) 03:55, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wot he said. Thanks for the signpost. Rich Farmbrough 08:02 7 June 2006 (UTC).

Signature[edit]

Well, everyone has hated the past several versions of my signature, so I will use this one until the policy changes. ~Linuxerist (talk · contribs) [2] 18:44, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, well that is good. Every change someone hasn't liked it. ~Linuxerist (talk · contribs) [3] 20:07, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Just to make sure you're up to date on your reading. I'm getting a little help from JoanneB and some friends on civility and how to avoid difficult people, however, this means avoiding you-know-who. — Nathan (talk) 08:31, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me ignoring him is a good idea, but I felt the need to explain my perception of his comment in a much more civil tone. He should at least understand why I reacted the way I did (it's important for me that others understand why I do things). Thanks :) — Nathan (talk) 23:50, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So what to make of this user, who just stepped in to speedy keep two GNAA AfDs today, and hasn't done anything else? Part of the trolling conspiracy? Should he be blocked too? CanadianCaesar Cæsar is turn’d to hear 02:10, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User: Monkey power[edit]

Hi there... since I see you've done "improper username" blocks before, I wonder if you could take a look at Monkey power? This disruptive user has obviously deliberately chosen this username to cause confusion with Monkeypower specifically on the Suppressive Person page. Since the Scientology-related pages have been under attack recently from trolls, vandals, and sockpuppets (Terryeo was recently banned from editing Scientology-related pages, JimmyT was recently blocked when found to be a sockpuppet of UNK, and Nikitchenko was banned when found out to be a sockpuppet of AI). Given that all of these sockpuppet vandals have been recently banned, it makes the sudden disruptive appearance of Monkey power all the more suspicious. wikipediatrix 14:06, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing images[edit]

I noticed you removed the images. I don't get why they can't be used, nobody is going to take legal action over me using a thumbnail image to say that I support the band. Why didn't you remove the Dark Side of the Moon image for that userbox? Is that exempt from illegality? Also, why did you remove my images of the McLaren F1? Another question, is it illegal to use my own photos in those userboxes? NIRVANA2764 23:58, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Signpost[edit]

This is just a note to let you know that I am interested in becoming a regular writer for the Wikipedia Signpost. If you can think of another beat or series that is needed, please let me know on my talk page. — Randy Johnston (talkcontribs) 03:01, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for voting in my recently unsuccessful RfA. I plan on working harder in the coming months so that I have a better chance of becoming an admin in the future. I hope you will consider supporting my if I have another RfA. Thank you for your comments. --digital_me(t/c) 15:58, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SpongeBob[edit]

O.K, Ral. ForestH2

Is there a reason then, Ral that the Harry Potter wikiproject can have a category and you erased ours? ForestH2

Is there some reason you think we blank talk pages? I and AMK152 never do that. I've blanked some talk pages before, because of using words such as four letter words, but never just to play around. And that's something that doesn't make any sense and I want and answer to the above questions, and I demand to know why in the world we blank talk pages. Oh, and wouldn't you post that on our talk page? I want a reply as swiftly as possible to do this. I'm going to remove your message and put it on AMK's talk page and mine. ForestH2

Is this category good? [[Category:WikiProject_Harry_Potter_articles]] It's the same one you deleted for the SpongeBob SquarePants wikiproject article. If you say it's a good category, why not recreate it for the SpongeBob Wikiproject? Shouldn't this category be deleted? ForestH2
What were the talk pages, he blanked? --ForestH2

Favorite Songs[edit]

My survey has changed. I am now continuing my mission for the best songs, but now I am accepting all genres. I'm giving you a chance to revote for your top ten favorite songs of any genres (not just classic rock which is still the best). I've made a executive decision to keep the existing survey results and just add on to that with the new entries. My feeling for doing this is because classic rock is the most influential genre in music currently so it should be expressed more in the survey. Thank you for contributing in the past, and hopefully in the future. ROCK ON. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 03:20, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the edit history you'll see that I prodded the article long ago. Somewhere along the line I lost it on my watchlist radar. Accordingly, it's really a candidate for afd as the prof was already removed. It's bedtime for me or I'd list it, but feel free.--Fuhghettaboutit 05:51, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks--Fuhghettaboutit 14:57, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that[edit]

Sorry for replacing the word 'crap' in the mediation page. I was still in 'remove personal attacks mode' from this case that was riddled with personal attacks, in which I left the disclaimer that any and all personal attacks would be removed. In the interest of maintaining civility in the mediation case, however, I removed the note as the mediator of a MedCab case is generally accepted to refactor comments in cases they take, and either way the text remains in the edit history in the interest of maintaining the GFDL. Cowman109Talk 23:34, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah yes, here are the two templates that warn in advance that mediators may remove attacks. Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Compromise and Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Request_header. Cowman109Talk 23:37, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:SIGN[edit]

I do think it's a big deal. The weird capitalization really, really bothers me. At first, I did not realize they were acronyms, which is why I changed the capitalization. I was reverted and told that they were acronyms. If so, they need to be explicitly pointed out as acronyms. Either acknowledge they are acronyms, or don't use them as such. —Lowellian (reply) 11:27, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you wish to discuss this more, I think Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost is a better place. —Lowellian (reply) 11:34, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

speedy delete[edit]

You posted the following [4] to my talk page. In line with this I'm cleaning up some other pages you didn't notice. I'm not an admin so would you be willing to delete: User:Jbolden1517 notes. Thanks 02:23, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK thanks, I'll make a note to choose my words more carefully in edit summaries in the future, any offense caused was unintentional. - Deathrocker 13:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

unnecessary deletion[edit]

Why did you delete Image:The-end.jpg? Any intellectual property that could be infringed is merely trademark - and that is not infringed because it could at least qualify as a parody - please see http//studentssketchpad.blogspot.com, where the Mailer_diablo co-cartoons with a classmate. Since it's not a faithful reproduction (it was drawn by hand) and because it does not claim to be part of canon, I protest your deletion. You should have at least allowed room for discussion, ie. put it up for IFD. Your deletion was out of process. Process is important. That way we had a chance to make a defense. Now you have irreversibly deleted it. It was not a blatant copyright violation, because it was taken off another site. Please see the criteria for speedy deletion. Note that the original drawings by Milne are far different from that drawn, and the kind of "Pooh" drawn isn't copyrighted, if he drew it himself. It could be from a "howto draw 1000 cartoon characters" kind of book, but there's an idea-expression dichotomy. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 14:10, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note, I've reuploaded an inferior version. If you contest my reuploading, put it up for IFD, not speedy it. I hope I don't sound hostile, I just wanted to justify its existence. Now mailer_diablo doesn't have a chance to rectify it.... Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 14:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signpost RSS[edit]

Hi - thanks for making this available. I'm not sure it's working fully, when I subscribe to it bia bloglines.com, it subscribes ok, and I see the list of articles, but when I click on a link, it says page unknown. For example Vol. 2, Issue 24 - The Report On Lengthy Litigation. -- Stbalbach 14:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On closer examination it appears the date in the URL's in the RSS feed doesnt match up. -- Stbalbach 14:12, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prod reasons[edit]

Hey -- just a friendly reminder to please give a reason when you propose an article for deletion via PROD. I've noticed at least a couple of these reason-less prods from you on June 11. Mangojuicetalk 02:23, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NY Times article on Wikipedia June 17, 2006[edit]

Hello there, I understand that you are the editor-in-chief of the Signpost newsletter. You may be interested to know that the June 17, 2006 issue of the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com , free registration required) has an article about Wikipedia and its conflicting ideals of "anyone can edit" and limiting the impact of vandalism. In particular, the article discusses the protection and semi-protection policies.
