Redirects

The redirect to AEW's event is proper to leave as a redirect. If you read MOS:RDR, you will see its pretty much the exact same example. When the event is eventually created, the link will automatically stop being to the main AEW page. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 21:03, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I never knew that was the case with self-redirects, but I guess I'm wrong. Good to know. JTP (talkcontribs) 21:07, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AEW

Please provide a source. Wicka wicka (talk) 19:35, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Wicka wicka: Stop pinging me about this. You pinged me three times in ten minutes (including twice in three minutes, really?) about an issue I didn't want to get involved in. You're persistent, I'll give you that, but it's borderline obnoxious. I jumped in for a few minutes because the sentence "the men and women of AEW are employees" in the article directly contradicted your claim "AEW WRESTLERS ARE NOT EMPLOYEES" (don't do this, by the way). Now someone finds something that says that the status is uncertain at best and you jump down my throat trying to prove me wrong. You're not in the right, nor the wrong here, so settle down, especially when you're on WP:3RR watch. It's people like you who make me want to leave this site. JTP (talkcontribs) 20:29, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You know what makes me want to leave this site? People who harass me and revert my edits when all I am trying to do is correct a blatant and obvious lie. This should be a simple fix; you CHOSE to involve yourself and made it complicated. Do not blame me for your actions. Wicka wicka (talk) 20:38, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Wicka wicka: I didn't blame anyone for anything, nor did I harass anyone. Stop blowing things out of proportion. I added a comment with no intent of commenting there again because I figured this exact situation would happen. JTP (talkcontribs) 20:41, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello NotTheFakeJTP,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

OWL Maps

Hey there! I noticed that you are going to be creating new maps for the OWL page. Would you mind if I remade them as SVG files, as it makes it much easier to update shading and whatnot when necessary? Thanks! Pbroks13 (talk) 19:25, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Pbroks13: Of course! I was planning on changing the colors; they are darker than I thought they would be, so I was looking at   and   instead. Thank you for doing this, I have no way of making SVG files. Best, JTP (talkcontribs) 21:02, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also I'd recommend making the markers larger, they're a bit small right now. JTP (talkcontribs) 22:14, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the first file: File:OWL North America map.svg. Let me know if the colors/marker size are okay, and I'll upload the others. I did include Latin America, I just feel like it looks unbalanced otherwise, but I'd be happy to remove it if you disagree. Let me know! Pbroks13 (talk) 02:50, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I'm going to adjust the other maps to match the first one's height, so the images line horizontally, just a heads up! Pbroks13 (talk) 02:51, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Here are the other two File:OWL Asia map.svg, File:OWL Europe map.svg. I overwrote the NA map, so the all have the same dimensions and marker sizes. Pbroks13 (talk) 03:27, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PW Focus

Hi JTP, hope you are well! I see you have removed the tags for focus of the month from WP:PW. This is suitible. However, I'd like to make a suggestion that we perhaps band people together to dealing with the WrestleMania 35 article that will likely get ridiculous amounts of vandalism, etc, and perhaps a WP:ITN nomination. :)

The reason I'm asking here, is simply to ask if you thought this was a suitable idea, given that you have a connection with the focus of the month. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:48, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Lee Vilenski: This is a great idea. I'm all for it. JTP (talkcontribs) 14:58, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User Elchubbo

I see you gave him a warning two days ago. Now sure if you've seen this, but today he reverted you and left following as an edit summary:

"Your Threats don't scare me. I have already requested mediation and I have multiple accounts. As long as you keep editing this, I will keep undoing it as you are doing detrimental harm to function of this page"

He should be banned for having multiple accounts. Taking it to mediation will not work in his favour due to multiple accounts. I don't know exactly what the issue is, but just from that edit summary, something needs to be done. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 16:11, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fishhead2100: I left him a message a few minutes ago. I'm trying to see if his account(s) are being used as WP:VALIDALTs (though I am assuming not). A WP:NOTHERE block might work here? JTP (talkcontribs) 16:25, 18 April
No more reverting. You both need to step away from the list. Has this issue been brought up in mediation? Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 03:19, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Fishhead2100: He claims that he did, but his contributions say otherwise. I'm busy all weekend; I'll do this when I can if it isn't done before then. JTP (talkcontribs) 03:46, 19 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've already filed a post about this on the mediation board, but please feel free to do the same.

As for multiple accounts, I dont have them but have many others who are more than willing to step in and continue the good fight in my absence should I be banned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elchubbo (talkcontribs) 06:29, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Elchubbo: Can you point me to the post that you made? Your contributions show that you have done nothing of the sort. Also, WP:CANVASSING, which you just described, is also against the rules. Wikipedia is not for promotion and I hope these "others" that you mention know that. JTP (talkcontribs) 06:34, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to be pointed to the moderation. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 18:44, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I reported Elchubbo for edit warring as the three revert rule was broken. Check that particular noticeboard. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 18:53, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In all reality, you should have reported him. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 22:40, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you still edit warring? Why are you still not discussing the reversions on the article talk page? El_C 01:18, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@El C: That is the original version, is it not? JTP (talkcontribs) 01:38, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's not an answer. You need to start using the article talk page, I'm a bit puzzled that you have yet to do so. El_C 01:59, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I did. 25 minutes ago... JTP (talkcontribs) 02:10, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay. Good. El_C 04:19, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just Waiting

For the ban to be over so I can undo the revision.

What you are doing is wrong, and I have already offered to make pages for any of the groups you are removing.

What is the point of an online encyclopedia if it is not thorough.

You are affecting local indy wrestling companies and their livelihoods with your absolute nonsensical bullshit.

I haven't gotten anyone involved in this, but just from posting I have a lineup of 20 people ready to revert any changes once the page unlocks.

Just give up and live to fight another day you basement dwelling morons. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elchubbo (talkcontribs) 15:39, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh, threats. Thanks for stopping by. I really needed a good put-down today. JTP (talkcontribs) 18:39, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.18

Hello NotTheFakeJTP,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:

  • Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
  • Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
Reliable Sources for NPP

Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.

Backlog drive coming soon

Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.

Perfect timing

I literally just went through every tag team article and added a short description last week :-). - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 22:00, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, shoot. My apologies. I saw that you had done a few but I didn't expect all of them to be done. I guess it's more of a preventative measure now. We won't have to add them for any future pages. JTP (talkcontribs) 22:03, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
All good. Do you have a good way to do individual? I had thought about it before, but its hard without nationality that Template:Infobox person has - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 22:14, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Galatz: I have no idea. I had thought about ways for any of the other main infoboxes, especially Template:Infobox professional wrestler, but I don't think there's a way to specify nationality without a dedicated parameter. JTP (talkcontribs) 22:18, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What I was thinking was we could always have a generic header, and it be updated as needed. Like it just say "Professional wrestler" and nationality can be added manually when seen. Events it could just say "Professional wrestling event" and championships it can just say "Professional wrestling championship". - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 11:18, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Galatz: I did think of that. I know there were talks of creating a maintenance category for pages with overridden short descriptions to catch duplicates, but it appears nothing came to fruition. Adding generic short descriptions to infoboxes seems like our best bet. JTP (talkcontribs) 19:09, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Adding sections

Hello JTP. I have a question for you, as I am new to Wikipedia and need some help. Could you please tell me how to add sections to regular articles. Thanks in advanced. Birmingham iron fan (talk) 15:48, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Birmingham iron fan: Wikipedia:Tutorial/Formatting should have the answer. Feel free to try WP:The Wikipedia Adventure to learn more. JTP (talkcontribs) 05:40, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comment yesterday

Thank you for responding to my question. I have made a 10th edit. You suggested that now I am an Auto-Confirmed user. Is it now necessary for me to re-create the submission that is currently an AOC draft awaiting approval? Thank you JTP! Stanford1993 (talk) 16:02, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Stanford1993: Next to the edit buttons at the top of your page, hover over "More" and select "Move." From there, select the dropdown menu that says "Draft" and select "(Article)", then "Move page." Your article will then be moved into the mainspace to await approval from a WP:New page reviewer. JTP (talkcontribs) 16:55, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
