Article Rejected

There's this link to the article that you declined? May I know the specifics behind it? Why did this article get rejected? I have done all the research and included enough credible sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MIMITHECAT (talkcontribs) 20:06, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

@MIMITHECAT: the reasons were listed in the decline message, 2 main reasons for the decline; there are no sources, as none, zilch, zero sources to allow me to be able to independently verify any information. The basic rule is no sources, no article. The other being there is no indication how this company meets our notability criteria of WP:NCORP. I would recommend you read through WP:YFA before submitting it again and make sure to include reliable sources where information is coming from. Draft:Sean Fox

How about now? it looks like it has reliable sources now https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sean_Fox --Afjnsd (talk) 19:48, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Well?--Afjnsd (talk) 00:01, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

It may look like it, but still does not have sources which can be used to prove notability. The 2 that look like they come from reliable sources are both interviews as part of a local expo he was participating in and are interview which are considered primary for the purposes of Wikipedia. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 00:12, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Ok I got it. would this count as a reliable source? https://www.thethings.com/sean-ryan-fox-facts/ --Afjnsd (talk) 20:12, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

Publishing page

I would be very grateful if you would assist in my efforts to publish the page 'Ellis Johnson - British Author'. I realise I published it without any sources and that was an error - there are sources. Could you assist in the first instance as where might be a good place to start? Many thanks, Wikipedian Lucysj (talk) 16:30, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

@Lucysj: I would start with WP:AUTHOR, WP:YFA and WP:REFB. Be warned article creation is one of the most difficult tasks to do on Wikipedia, especially for a new editor. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:38, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
I will also add that you are doing this for the wrong reason and you will not find it a pleasant experience if you continue to write about yourself. We have no care about what Twitter requires. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:53, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

May I add this is not the reason - but it has prompted me to start - I am not writing this page to fan the flames of fame but as an academic excessive - I am a serious writer of fiction, an educator and someone who has a long standing relationship with digital media throughout my professional career, I also taught celebrity in an academic context and seek to examine it as a phenomenon, as I (hope) I have outlined in what I have written thus far. Is there any need to be so hostile? This is a genuine question and not an attempt to be disruptive in any way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucysj ([[User talk:LucyLucysj (talk) 17:49, 22 November 2021 (UTC)sj#top|talk]] • contribs) 17:43, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

I would also add that perviously I have had an unpleasant experience with Wikipedia when I wrote an entry about a lady who had done charitable work which seemed to enrage the editors. I have been asked back and so I am attempting to continue. As far as I could make it you actually can write about yourself so long as you are not unduly self - serving. I have tried to explain that it is a necessity that I write this page. Twitter is just an example of another platform not any sort of affiliation or promotion. Lucysj (talk) 17:49, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

@Lucysj: there was no hostility in my statements only warnings and cautions. You are not the first person to come and try these things here most have been met with swift blocks and work thrown the way of the trash heap. If you think anything I have done or stated is hostile be prepared for a lot worse. WP:AUTOBIO has some great information and if you cannot demonstrate how you meet WP:NAUTHOR using independent reliable sources then all your work is even more futile. Looking at the draft at this point the links you have added do nothing to help support notabilty as they are sales sites or connected to the subject. Once again I am not trying to be hostile only trying to warn you, that your current trajectory is going to lead to undue stress and frustration. I would recommend you get more familiar with Wikipedia's workings and policies by making many more small edits in existing articles. A Wikipedia article is never a necessity, no reviewer will ever take into account what another platform requires, we have our own policies and those are all we look at for accepting articles. The platforms you speak of will probably also point you towards our inclusion criteria of WP:N as well. I know Twitter does. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:03, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

Yes I know - as I have experienced it already but I do as far as I can make out have a legitimate reason to me here and I do appreciate you helping to clarify some of the issues - e.g sales sites etc and with my academic training I understanding why this might prompt that sort of reaction. Lucysj (talk) 18:09, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

I also hear you about continuing with minor edits - e.g. don't try to swim the channel when you have barely taken off armbands and done your ten metres! :-) : Lucysj (talk) 18:14, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:33, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Penny O'Brien

I reckon you remember me 😂 hey there again! Want to say i wanted to added more sources didn't expect that the review will go that fast XD anyways i got more sources to support the page! I reckon a university alumni website and a 4 YouTube videos is good sources with a lot information, but eh just wanted to say thank you for that fast review and see if you do remember me 🤣 Mac O'Donnell (talk) 01:32, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

No, they would not be good references, YouTube is very rarely considered reliable and an alumni website would be connected to the subject. Please read through WP:RS and WP:SIGCOV. To help understand what sources are needed to prove notability. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:06, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Edit to article on candy canes

Hi, I just edited the candy canes article on wikipedia to include the fact that they have to be eaten with caution as they can form sharp and genuinely dangerous points. but you reverted this, why? I included a link to a story where a man had atually lost his sight by being stabbed in the eye with one so it's genuine. And this is my first time editing Wikipedia, be kind to me!! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 (talk) 22:51, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

It what we call original research including your personal opinion at the end of your addition. We don't need to include health warnings in our articles nor do we speculate on what someone may do with every item. It's the same reason we don't discuss toothbrush shivs in the toothbrush article. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 22:58, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. In that case I would suggest editing out the end part but it is otherwise a fact that candy canes are sharp and regularly cause small injuries and have been used as weapons. The toothbrush article also does have a section called "adversity of toothbrushes" where the primary purported disadvantages of toothbrushes are discussed. In addition, toothbrushes can only be used as shivs with effort and extra tools whereas candy canes are inherently sharp and become more so during routine use. And as a side note you didn't include a reason or explanation in your edit, it would have been helpful to have something just to understand rather than just a simple reversion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 (talk) 23:07, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

I did give a reason, WP:SYNTH which is our original research policy. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:10, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

But the original research point is only an issue with the last part of the edit (which I suggested removing), and doesn't address my other points. Fundamentally, everyone who's ever eaten a candy cane knows that they become sharp, this is just common sense. If you google it (and I have) you'll find a huge number of social media posts confirming that kids everywhere are regularly using these to stab each other for fun and occasionally causing proper injuries. Although not necessarily sufficient individually, they are in aggregate capable of proving the point and it's fundamentally missing the essence and appeal of candy canes to reference the one toothbrush in every hundred million that is used as a shiv as a reason for not mentioning the universal pointiness of a sucked candy cane. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 (talk) 23:23, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Follow up - here is one example of a reddit article discussing how candy canes are eaten. There is universal agreement that they become incredibly sharp, unless crunched up. https://www.reddit.com/r/DoesAnybodyElse/comments/13zz12/dae_like_to_suck_on_candy_canes_until_they_become/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 (talk) 23:33, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

The whole thing was considered original research, your reference was not a story describing the ill effects of candy canes it was an example of someone stabbing someone else with a candy cane. You then took it to the next level and added something about impaling the roof of the mouth and then added the disclaimer. So the only part that was supported by an actual source was a non starter as almost anything could be used as a weapon and does not warrant inclusion in an encyclopedia article. Warnings belong on the products themselves. Social media, including Reddit, has no bearing here. What everyone knows is irrelevant, if they know then they don't need to see it here then either. If you feel I was in the wrong feel free to ask on the talk page of the article per WP:BRD. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:41, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

OK, will do. NB The edit was not primarily about stabbing someone with candy canes as you suggest - there was a single reference. I note also that the article on chewing gum has a number of similar controversies referenced so I'm sure once I've raised this on the article page for candy canes it will be incorporated in due course. And not everyone knows about the risks; only people who have actually eaten candy canes do whereas Wikipedia is also meant to be informative for people who haven't, so that's why it's worth mentioning. I'll follow up on the article page tomorrow as you suggest. Bye! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:4B00:858C:8800:D9EA:48DA:62C4:BA95 (talk) 23:51, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

just as a last side note the source was talking about a plastic candy cane, not a real one that she sucked on until it was sharp. It also did not support the statement. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:53, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Deep Fried Orca

Thanks for the revert. I am not sure how pleasant a fragrance would attend such a thing. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:56, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Regarding: Jaegen

Hey. I seen that you reviewed and declined my submission for "Jaegen" the producer. What can be done to make it sound less of an advertisement? I feel as if it does not read as such, but should it be less descriptive of the works he produced? and more simpler terms? Either way, if it takes me removing more info from the Early Life and career bit, would it be valid then? Along with adding more references of course. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yooonnng (talkcontribs) 00:21, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

It much more then that, the references need to discuss the subject in depth if it doesn't even mention him then it is no good for anything. The ones that do discuss him need to be significant enough to develop an actual article on. Being a producer, it is going to be very difficult to show notability as it is the artist which gets most of the credit and coverage. I would chose you best 3 references about him and build the article based off that as a start. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 01:11, 20 December 2021 (UTC)

Akribis Systems Pte Ltd

You can't add anything to make it more notable. It is either notable or it's not. If it is notable reliable sources will have discussed it in detail. If you can provide 3 sources that meet the criteria of WP:NCORP here I will reconsider the rejection, otherwise I would suggest moving on to other tasks to become more familiar with Wikipedia, it's guidelines and policies. Gholam Reza Salim's Wikipedia Page

Hello,

You recently rejected my grandfather's wikipedia page for not having reliable sources, however this would be the first page on him posted in English.

This is his page that I created: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gholam_Reza_Salim

I compiled information from my family to create this page. There is no published information on him in English which you could check so I was wondering if you would reconsider your rejection. I understand the importance of reliable sources, however I am not able to provide anything in English.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narouni (talkcontribs) 21:30, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

@Narouni: sources are not required to be in English. However sources are required and they need to be from reliable published sources. You personal or familial knowledge is not sufficient as per or original research policy . You will need to provide evidence on how they meet WP:GNG or WP:PROF. Hi,

I'm new to starting a page like this. [[1]]. I did it because there is so little on this Victorian artist on the internet. The information is from the Royal Academy of arts Exhibition catalogs which are available on line now.

Not sure what other references I can get during the pandemic.

I feel unsatisfied with the admin's decision. I need your help in reopening that information for everyone to understand the correct definition of ALS in Vietnam

I need you to make sure it's not racist, it's not discriminatory, and it's informative. I am a human. There should be equality, freedom. I respect your decision, just as I respect the website wiki made available to readers around the world. I am trying to provide information on wikipedia to ensure that it is in accordance with wikipedia's rules. But I am not satisfied if my attempt is rejected. I would like to reiterate that ALS is a brand in Vietnam since 2007. Has 14 years of operation. In Vietnam, ALS is not Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amyotrophic_lateral_sclerosis Internationally: ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis According to Vietnam: ALS stands for Aviation Logistics Corporation

Press release sources

Hi Mcmatter, what can I use other than press releases as sources if the assumption is they don't qualify as reliable? I am in need of creating a wikipedia page — Preceding unsigned comment added by ATHS1919 (talkcontribs)

@ATHS1919:, The sources you can use to establish notability must be independent of the subject and from reliable sources. Press releases are neither as they are written by the subject and reprinted without any fact checking or editorial oversight. Please read through WP:YFA and WP:THREE as they are helpful. Also please remember to sign your talkpage posts with ~~~~ so people know who to respond to. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:35, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Are any of the new sources I added relevant? If not, If I attempt to add this to the larger page, should I leave off all of the other sources? and can I still keep the infobox?

please advise. thanks. --ATHS1919 (talk) 19:09, 25 January 2022 (UTC)ATHS1919

Hi Mcmattter,

Thank you for your feedback. It's my first writing on Wikipedia and i'm exciting to know how can i progress further here. Can you explain to me in more details, of what i should do to get the article published?

Correct me if i'm wrong, is it that i need to have more citation/reference?

Thanks so much for your assistance! Shueejen (talk) 04:36, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

@Shueejen:. When it comes to organizations we have a higher standard for notability in WP:CORPDEPTH. As with any other article it cannot be based off press releases which many of your sources are. Press releases are normally fairly easy to identify as there is no byline (author) listed. The sources that are independent and reliable must be more then just mere mentions and beyond standard routine business such as mergers, acquisitions and other routine news. I would take a look at WP:THREE and WP:YFA article creation is one the most difficult tasks on Wikipedia. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:02, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

@Ccd121: I removed the list from a page which discusses a culture of people, it does not discuss a surname. Therefore the list of people with the same last name has no place unless there is evidence they are or identify as part of this cultural group. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 17:33, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

the edits still exist. if i am the only that can see the edit then that is acceptable but if anyone can read one of the edits then i have a big problem. there is a link in several of the edits that i need to erase. if i delete the article entirely will the edits exist. this is a critical emergency for me and creating hours of work to protect private work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flagship1 (talkcontribs) 00:51, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Thanks in advance, Pam The Honoring Historian (talk) 20:02, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

@The Honoring Historia: Welcome to Wikipedia, you have chosen to take on one of the most difficult tasks there is on Wikipedia. Article creation can be a daunting task as there are many policies and guidelines one must be aware of in order for it to survive or be moved into the main space. Judging by your contribution history this is the only topic or draft you have ever edited and are probably not sufficiently aware of our policies. Some of the major ones you will need to be aware of are WP:RS, WP:ANYBIO and WP:GNG. I will be honest I doubt this person will qualify for an article, I probably won't have access to any source which does discuss the subject in any depth that would be considered reliable. Most of your sources would not be considered reliable, or usable to prove notability according to Wikipedia's definition. I would look for the best 3 sources you can find that aren't an Obit, user generated(fandom, blogs) and not connected to the subject (this eliminates any story about run by his former university or college). @JoshuaKybele: I'm guessing you are referring to Draft:Media Hijacking, if it has not been used or discussed in any reliable source then Wikipedia is not the place to write about it. WP:Forum explains this. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:06, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

KMVanHoose (talk) 13:10, 24 March 2022 (UTC) KMVanHoose

@KMVanHoose:, I'll be completely honest I still don't think he meets the requirements of Wikipedia's notability criteria proven by the use of independent reliable sources with signifigant coverage of him. One of the Courier-Journal entries is not considered independent as the paper is sponsoring the team they he was on, as an example. Since he never made it to the top tier leagues he definitely wouldn't meet the criteria of WP:NHOOPS. I will leave the review request for another reviewer to provide a second opinion. I have also cleaned it up to make it more acceptable by removing some unsourced information and the long list of non-notable accolades. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:22, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

re Jonathan Pershing

Hello McMatter. Have you read WP:POLITICIANS? Dondervogel 2 (talk) 11:27, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

Yes. I have. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 14:03, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. According to my reading, the subject is notable so I don't understand how Wikipedia benefits from its deletion. What am I missing? Dondervogel 2 (talk) 13:33, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
He isn't actually a politician, he is a diplomat, therefore you needed to prove through reliable independent sourcing that he was in fact notable per WP:ANYBIO and submit the draft. You chose to do none of that and it went stale and was deleted. You can always head to WP:REFUND and ask for it to be restored, make the required sourcing changes and submit it. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 13:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
I see. I'm not really surprised it went stale (there was no way for interested editors to find out the article existed). I do not intend to start again. Thank you for clarifying. Dondervogel 2 (talk) 14:39, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
If there is a draft version of a non-existent article there is a big red box which indicates that there is a draft version that may need attention. For example you can look at Heygo to see an example of this message. The onus is on the creator of any article to provide enough reliable sources to support notability. Creating articles with primary sources in hopes someone else will come by and fix it will quite often be met with it being moved to the draft space or nominated for deletion. Article - Feedback

Good evening,

Please if you could assist us with the page... Is there a number of articles required or suggested in order to have the article accepted? We plan on continuing to add to the submission, it stays accessible to us correct? What suggestions could you offer us?

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Mcmatter,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 814 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 859 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

why rejected my post

hi sir i wish you are good sorry sir can you tell me why my post rejected because i posted iranian musician and i posted source can you help me to solve problem?

Kiava (talk) 04:39, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

@Kiava: the reason for the rejection was the lack of reliable sourcing and the fact he does not meet the criteria of WP:SINGER or at least it has not been proven that he does. The Global Music Award is a not considered notable for our purposes. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:29, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello? My wikipage won't violate any copyrights. Can you review it again? Please... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cabbagelang — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cabbagelang Programming (talkcontribs) 04:39, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

@Cabbagelang Programming: I never said it had any issues with copyright I said the draft was contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Which means what you have written is counterintuitive to an encyclopedia. In this case I would say WP:NOTHOWTO and it does not meet our inclusion criteria of WP:GNG. This is not the place to push you product. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:42, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
@Mcmatter: I didn't push my product. I just wanna write a wikipage for my language. Like the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_(programming_language) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cabbagelang Programming (talkcontribs)
@Cabbagelang Programming: The difference between Python and your language is Python is a major programming language with many published sources which discuss it in depth to make it meet WP:GNG. Your does not. Unless you can show us three independent published reliable sources which discuss your language in depth then it will not be approved. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:52, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
@Mcmatter: Thanks, I will try my best

marraban yauri

thanks for editing my work but you have not approve my work even when i provided sources. Samum2 (talk) 13:34, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

@Samum2: that is correct. The sources provided are inadequate to support most of the current article, not to mention it is written in such a way that most native English readers would not understand what the topic is. This seems to be a common issue with your draft so far. I would recommend you spend more time on working in other areas on Wikipedia and leave the drafts until you better understand the requirements for sourcing, formatting of articles and notability requirements. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 14:35, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
@Mcmatter: Thanks i will try best to understand them but remember i'm not native english and the issue doesn't related to native speakers.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Samum2 (talkcontribs)
@Samum2:, no one cares if you are a native speaker or not, however you have chosen to undertake the most difficult task on the English Wikipedia and that is writing articles, and not just one, several. These articles need to be in clear English so that anyone can understand what the article is about quickly. See WP:BETTER and WP:CIR to help more. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:20, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

@Mcmatter: i will delete some articles but i need two among them marraban yauri gold mining and marraban yauri. and i understood i have to improve the articles well. thanks anywhere Mcmatter

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022

New Page Review queue June 2022

Hello Mcmatter,

Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

Backlog drive

A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Misc

There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:

Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 9915 articles, as of 06:00, 21 May 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
Notes
  1. ^ not including another ~6,000 redirects
  2. ^ The number of weekly reviews reported in the NPP feed includes redirects, which are not included in the backlog we primarily track.

Reference

Hello, you told me that articles can't be uploaded without reference . But I have done a little research and I've found about 10 articles that don't have reference — Preceding unsigned comment added by FreddyWitDa$tacks (talkcontribs) 10:18, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

The only interaction I have had with you was to warn you about one of your edits which replaced the contents of another page.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 02:24, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
