Page Deletion of the page ThermicWaffle

I would like to have the draft of the page ThermicWaffle so that I can continue to edit it and improve on it for the future. -PonglyWompus PonglyWompus (talk) 02:38, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

@PonglyWompus:, I didn't actually delete the article only nominated it and I cannot restore it. I however would suggest not bothering until you understand more about the policies for articles on Wikipedia, by editing other articles and learning the ins and outs. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:14, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Elongate (cryptocurrency)

Look on the 2 new weblinks. It exceeds the relevance criteria. But my English is not perfect. It will need a quality assurance. --Yülli (talk) 11:26, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

+ Forbes + Business Insider. it reaches notability guidelines now. --Yülli (talk) 17:38, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Nancy Wilson

Re my article on Nancy Wilson. Do not delete good information given in good faith by people who know what they are doing. If you don't like the references given (in fact two) then change the formatting if you want to. you so-called super-editors butt in where it is not required and in any case Canada should not be involved in a New Zealand article. Cheers— Preceding unsigned comment added by Printtype (talkcontribs)

@Printtype: Its obvious you don’t know what you’re doing since you created an improperly referenced article about someone who does not meet the requirements of inclusion WP:ANYBIO. Not to mention the lack of understanding that the article was in fact not deleted but instead placed in the draft space so you can work on it with less threat of actual deletion. The next step is when you ask for help on your article saying please is helpful. When posting a new topic to a talk page it is proper etiquette to make a new section for your uniformed and thoughtless rant. The last thing I would recommend is making sure to sign your posts on talk pages with ~~~~. Good luck and happy editing McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 05:30, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

My article About Table Rock Tea Company

Hi,

I see that you deleted my article about Table Rock Tea Company and now I cannot find it. Is there a way to retrieve my draft so I can improve it? Do you have any constructive comments? I was trying to be informative.

SCarolinagal — Preceding unsigned comment added by SCarolinagal (talkcontribs) 01:54, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

@SCarolinagal: the draft has not yet been deleted but may be at any point, it is found at Draft:Table Rock Tea Company. My suggestion would be to let it be deleted and start again as it right now reads like an advertisement with promotional speech such as "leading pioneer", opinion phrases liked "is one of only a handful" and make sure to stay on topic the article is either about the company or the founder. Stick to the facts and support each of them with a reliable source and keep the tone neutral. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 02:03, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

ASTRO Gaming draft

Hi Mcmatter, thank you for the taking the time to review the draft for the ASTRO Gaming page previously. We have been continuously working on this and making the changes as advised, but it still gets rejected. Can you provide some guidance/help on the areas in the draft of what needs to be changed? We have changed the tone and removed language that is perceived as marketing speak. We also used 3rd party sources for information along with providing information from a neutral point of view. Can you help me understand what specific changes need to be made? I would appreciate the help. Thank you. Meguatastro (talk) 17:06, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Astro_Gaming

@Meguatastro:: I have cleaned up the article to remove all the promotional product listings and content like I had suggested in my first review and accepted it as an article. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:50, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for all of your help and approving the article Mcmatter! Meguatastro (talk) 20:18, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Improving a draft article

Hello, could you please help me improve an article at Draft:Tucker Budzyn as I do not know how to write an article properly. Thanks

What you think Draft:Mizanur Rahman Azhari will be accepted or not?

Hey there how are you? I just want to know that what you think the draft article Draft:Mizanur Rahman Azhari will be accepted or not? If you think that not then please mention the reason I want to improve it. Thanks--Tow7864 (talk) 05:26, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

@Tow7864:, At first glance I would say no, it seems to be a case of WP:BIO1E the WP:REFBOMB doesn’t help the situation. I generally don’t weigh in on any religious figure hence the reason I only submitted it for review for someone who is more familiar with topic to review. It has been submitted for review in such a way you will be notified when a reviewer has looked it over.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 05:38, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
and it looks like the other reviewer disagreed with my assessment, which is why I skipped reviewing it. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 05:40, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

User:McmatterYeah it is accepted, Thanks for your response.--Tow7864 (talk) 05:42, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Not sure why you rejected.

I'm not sure why you rejected the article comfort farms (film) with NFILM. The film was widely released and reviewed by a number of known publications and critics. Thank you. MysticRose12 (talk) 03:00, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

@MysticRose12:, none of that was proven in the article. All the references you have included only prove it exists. IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, Vudu are trash references and should not be used to prove anything in the article. The 2 catalog links are also trash that only prove it exists. The FILA article doesn't actually discuss the film it only lists it as a recipient of some award from a non notable indie film festival. The draft has only been declined and you are able to resbumit it if you can find reliable sources which actually discuss this film, this can include full length reviews by reputable reviewers/sites. I do however warn you that you have decided to take on one of the most difficult tasks here on Wikipedia as your first set of edits. Creating a new article is a arduous task especially if you are not familiar with the all notability criteria. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 03:19, 15 June 2021 (UTC) :@MMcmatter: Hey thank you but what about the article from AG Daily, a large publication? Don't I first need to prove the film exists before proving what it is about? Also, the sites I referenced not only tell us they exsist but something about the film. I will go in and add some more. Thanks. MysticRose12 (talk) 03:36, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

pleas review my sources

hello i wrote an article about a famous trainer/coach but you rejected it for not having good sources and because you didnt see that the person deserves a wikipedia page i want to say that i have many sources but most of them are in dutch https://mmadna.nl/interview-met-kickboks-en-mma-coach-said-el-badaoui/ https://www.sportcentrumoudenrijn.nl/even-voorstellen-said-el-badaoui/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJhLVkuIKNc&t=88s can you pleas take time and review these new sources this would mean a lot for me and if anything is missing please let me know thank you for your time — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki editor 9004 (talkcontribs) 00:41, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

@Wiki editor 9004: I did review your sources and they aren't any good for the purposes of proving they notable as none of them are considered reliable. The first one you gave was an interview this is often a promotional piece, the second is self published promotional piece and youtube is never a good source. To prove notability you need to base the article off what others have written about the subject in depth in reliable sources. If no one has actually taken the time to actually write about him then he may not qualify for an article. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 00:48, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Badr Hari https://boec.com/badr-hari-announces-new-head-coach/ is this enough to be notable

https://www.instagram.com/p/CP1ODlArjIX/ https://www.instagram.com/saidelbadaouiofficial/

@Wiki editor 9004: please do not start a new section each time you reply just edit the section you want to add to and remember to indent with : for each indent and remember to sign your posts with ~~~~. These sources do not help as it only mentions the subject and does not go in depth about him or are social media. Notability it not inherited. If these are the best possible sources you can provide then it may be best to work on other projects on Wikipedia. It is one of the most difficult tasks to create a viable article on Wikipedia especially if you are not familiar with any of the policies. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 01:12, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Grossman1Daniel (talk) 19:12, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

@Grossman1Daniel: the article has only gotten worse and will not be accepted. Wikipedia is not the place to write about your original research or concepts as per WP:NOTESSAY. I would recommend you move on to other tasks within Wikipedia and leave the page to be deleted. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 21:29, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
No i would do it!! Astrogeomanity is a serious research project and im not accepting it!
And you say that "the article has only gotten worse". that is so disrespectful!! how are you to say that on our life research! shame on you! Grossman1Daniel (talk) 22:00, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
If you don't understand Astrogeomanity it's your problem, it is a great Timeline of evolution and you dont have en idea what are you talking about! Grossman1Daniel (talk) 22:02, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Grossman1Daniel I said the article has gotten worse because you still have only tried to promote your research and not anything that has been proven to be validated by any one else through peer review in journals or publications. I will only say this one more time Wikipedia is NOT for promotion of your theories or research. Wikipedia is not a research journal nor is it a purveyor of original thought. If no one else has published any information on your theory it has no place in Wikipedia, full stop. I do not need to understand the theory to tell you the article will not be accepted because it is a contrary to what Wikipedia is and is in violation of every inclusion criteria we have.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 22:30, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
I don't agree with you Grossman1Daniel (talk) 23:11, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Good luck if you continue trying to push your research on Wikipedia you are not going to be happy with the response you will get from any other reviewer. I wish you all the best in your research. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:46, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Please review Astrogeomanity send box. the research team of astrogeomanity is growing! Doctor Aide Lago Quantum Physics expert from Mexico and Profesor Itzhak Marmelstein from Tel Aviv University Department of Archeology are part of the team of Astrogeomanity Research/theory.

Help! Accidentally accepted an existing article

Hi Mcmatter,

I accidentally accepted an existing article in the main space SmartLess I'm unsure how to move it back to draft space and decline it. Looking forward to your guidance.

Thank you! QuantumRealm (meowpawtrack) 05:57, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

@QuantumRealm: you could have just redirected the page to the existing article. You still can if you wish to withdraw the AFD. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 06:01, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
@Mcmatter: Could you help me in the process? I never withdrew from AfD before. QuantumRealm (meowpawtrack) 06:05, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
@QuantumRealm: just comment on the AFD that you wish to withdraw as the AFD was made in haste and think a simple redirect would be best. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 06:06, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
@Mcmatter: Thank you so much! Once the nomination is withdrawn, how do I leave a redirect? QuantumRealm (meowpawtrack) 06:11, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
@QuantumRealm:, I have taken care of it for you already, however for future a redirect is #REDIRECT [[PageName]]. You also do not need to use the ping on my talkpage as I will automatically get pinged when you post here. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 06:16, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much!!! Very much appreciated. :) QuantumRealm (meowpawtrack) 08:23, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Bagru Print

You moved an editor's Sandbox draft to Bagru Print, but there already exists a much longer article Bagh print. I am going to raise this issue at Teahouse, with the hope that the new article can be deleted. David notMD (talk) 18:11, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

@David notMD: I'm not sure they are the same as they refer to different origin regions of the country. I have no invested interest in either article. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 19:35, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

My error. Already stated as much at Teahouse. David notMD (talk) 22:34, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Mcmatter. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 12:41, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Articles Moved to Daft Area

Hey--you moved two articles I was working on to a draft area. I just want to let you know, I had computer trouble so I couldn't continue writing the articles and they were left incomplete for that reason. I'm back to working on those articles now that my technical issues are resolved. Thanks! Magdalamar (talk) 19:36, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

@Magdalamar: No Worries, in the draft space they are safer from deletion and allow you to work on them with less interference. If you are autoconfirmed and feel they are complete and meet the criteria for inclusion you can move them back to the article space or submit them for review. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 19:39, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Owkin

Hello we are in Techcrunch and Nature. Are those not reliable sources?— Preceding unsigned comment added by SacrificialPawn (talkcontribs)

@SacrificialPawn: the nature article is not reliable because it is a press release written by the organization it is considered a primary source. Techcrunch is dubious at best as it does act as a blog as well. Please read through WP:CORPDEPTH. We need to see someone has written about the company beyond routine business transactions. The sources are the secondary issue here, the primary is the tone of the advertisement you wrote, it's not an encyclopedia article. This is why we highly recommend people not to write about anything they have a conflict of interest with. You must also declare your paid editing as per WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:56, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you Mcmatter. I don't understand why Techcrunch is considered dubious. With Nature, we didn't pay for the placement and I am not being paid to write here. Where should I declare my COI and what should I say? SacrificialPawn (talk) 16:08, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
@SacrificialPaw: it doesn't matter if the organization paid for the placement it was written by them. That's the joys of a press release the company puts it out there and any media outlet can republish it at their will. The biggest criteria for us to consider a source reliable are independent of the subject and has proper editorial oversight(fact checking), neither of which a press release is. If you are an employee of the organization you are considered paid and judging by your continued use of "we" I assume you are attempting to speak in the voice of the organization. List of pickleball associations article

Hello, I'm not sure if you get notified (I generally have trouble figuring out how wikipedia works), but I posted a response on the deletion talk page for the article List of national pickleball associations.

Thanks, Cvscvs2 (talk) 04:53, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

We are highly warned to edit or move other editors comments, you know it very well because you warned me about removing your comments on my user talk page, now you are doing it to me, the comment made on the post mentioned above should be reverted to the discussion page they were made, because they address issues about policy, Zefu zungu (04:06 PM 29 July 2021) (Cat)

@Zefu zungu: the move to the talk page was within policy as I noted in the main discussion that off topic discussion was moved into the talkpage, no refactoring or changes to comments were made only moved to a better avenue to not dilute the discussion on the actual article. If you truly feel I am acting out of spite or anything outside of policy please feel free to take this to WP:ANI McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 17:19, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Please move Ultimate Abyss and Royal Viking Lounge to Draft

Please don't delete them, move them to the draft pages.Angelgreat (talk) 02:29, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

@Angelgreat: I'm not an administrator and can't delete articles. I nominated them for discussion on whether they should be kept or deleted. If you would like to have them draftified please make a comment in each of the discussions. The consensus can decide or the deleting admin if the discussion leads to deletion. Make sure to add the request to the bottom of the page not the top. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:41, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick review. I'm going to see if I can address the cited issues. I have one problem – I was told after I started working on the page that in fact the official title of the show is "FBOY (all caps) Island." Is there a way to fix that, or do I need to create a new page?

Jhofferman (talk) 04:21, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

@Jhofferman:, it would require a page move. At this point I would concentrate on the content and worry about the title after. Make sure to read through WP:RS and WP:TVSHOW. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:26, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Totally my bad. Not utilizing the many available sources was a rookie mistake about which I'm sufficiently embarrassed. To be honest, I'm not sure how good it is for the health of the republic that this show will in fact be a big deal, but I think we can count on it. Jhofferman (talk) 06:04, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Changed issues with Wikipedia article you flagged

Hi McMatter,

I corrected the issues that you had flagged (I changed the citation links to outside, unaffiliated articles that covered my topic). Can you review it again?

Thanks!

The PS Piemonte article/draft

Sorry if I messed up. I'm (sorta) new to wikipedia and I'm trying to find reliable sources to make the draft a "true"article for readers. I'm still learning the basics though.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ubersonic Gaming (talkcontribs)

@Ubersonic Gaming: no worries writing your first article is very difficult and can lead to a lot of hurt feelings if done hastily. In the draft space it will be safer from active scrutiny until you feel it meets the requirements for inclusion. I will leave you a welcome message about your first article on your talk page. World Elite Wrestling wiki

Hi! Can you explain the problems with the tags I made? Sry I'm new on wiki really. Thabk you if you can explain! Bajusz Bendegúz Péter (talk) 06:09, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

From what I can remember about that article it was either poorly translated or written in poor English. Was it about a wrestling group because it kept saying it was a quiz. Then it was using overtly promotional language as well as written more as a reflection piece then an encyclopedia article. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 13:46, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Looking for McMaster re: a page

Can one of you please reach back? Tx! Desidynamite (talk) 15:07, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Brent M. Longnecker page

I noticed that on Brent M. Longnecker's personal page, it says that "This article is being considered for deletion in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policy." We are in the process of updating his page based on his current CV due to job changes. Please let me know what needs to be done in order to maintain this page eligibility and not have it deleted. Thank you! Maxandmyleigh (talk) 20:36, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

@Maxandmyleigh: the first thing you need to do is stop editing it and declare your relationship with the subject as per WP:PAID. Next you need to read through WP:GNG, WP:V, WP:REFB and WP:WHATNOT. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 20:39, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok the relationship has been established on the profile. Our company works directly with Mr. Longnecker and utilizes his skills with our cases/clients. We need his page to be updated when research is involved. What else needs to be done to facilitate the removal of the pending closure status? No further edits will be conducted at this time. Maxandmyleigh (talk) 20:45, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
@Maxandmyleigh: Wikipedia has a requirement of notability for subject to have an article. If no one has taken the time to publish detailed information or stories about Longnecker in independant reliable sources then they may not qualify for an article. I have done a preliminary search and did not find anything about him. This does not mean it doesn't exist just that I couldn't find anything. If you have examples of article about Longnecker you can add links to them to the deletion discussion that will go for a minimum of 7 days. For the refences to be accepted they have to be significant coverage, independent of the subject (this means we do not accept social media, youtube, press releases and articles about routine business transactions) as reliable. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 20:53, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

We apologize for the prematurity to the edits as we were given this task without previous knowledge of how it was handled. Mr. Longnecker does have significant coverage throughout the compensation world and we will be sure to first draft changes and include the references with them in tandem. We were trying to get items up as the original profile that was reinstated was vague - however, that was our mistake. Please see examples below of Mr. Longnecker and the notability in which he stands in the exec comp world: - http://www.htexas.com/category/top-professionals/brent-longnecker - https://www.longnecker.com/blog/author/brent/ - http://www.htexas.com/category/top-professionals Maxandmyleigh (talk) 21:05, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

{{@Maxandmyleigh: The sources you linked above would be not be considered as a sign of notability. The issue is the list is not notable on it's own and the profile is most likely written by the subject or one of their employees themselves, so not independent. The blog from his own website would not be usable as well as it is clearly not independent. I would recommend you look through other articles and the policies I have linked here and on your talkpage to understand what is required on Wikipedia. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 21:19, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Nashville

I think your withdraw/close of the MR was premature and hereby request you revert yourself. The argument that such changes have to happen at the USPLACE guideline first is fallacious because it ignores the bottom-up nature of WP governance, and WP:IAR, a WP policy pillar. In order to make a change at the guideline level you first need evidence of community support for the change at the article level. Without being able to make changes contrary to USPLACE at the article level, per WP:IAR, such as the one proposed at Nashville, evidence of community support for a change to USPLACE can’t be developed at the article level. It’s a Catch-22 situation. So, please revert your withdraw close to reopen that MR to relist the RM, and see what the community thinks. —В²C 14:01, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

@Born2cycle: while I appreciate your thoughts and concerns I’m not willing to fight that battle on those grounds. Since it was withdrawn and not a consensus there is no prejudice against relisting with your rationale if you so desire. I do however want to point out it has been over 8 years since USPLACES has had an RFC. The last one looked to be shut down not so much because of the basis of the request but because it was too close on the heels of a confusing multi-proposal. If the proposal is laid out in a straight forward form, contains only one proposal ie the preferred format should be City, unless disamb is needed due to multiple articles with the same name then City, State… I think there is a desire to change it but by then middle of the 10s they were tired of fighting over it and just wanted to battles to stop. Wikipedia editors like their red tape and I do believe any RFC on individual articles and RM will simply be shot down because of the current policies and guidelines.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:28, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Okay. And I agree it’s time for another RFC. But trust me, better you (or anyone other) than me to start it. —В²C 16:52, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

AfD

Hi there, please note my closing comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bmcabana SF and notes at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bmcabana SF (2nd nomination). Any issues please let me know. Thanks, Daniel (talk) 21:03, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Also, is this news to you? Especially considering the comment "Im not connected to the subject or any other party, I have helped improve other articles already in the main space and all seems to work just fine, im still trying to contribute more meaningful Zefu zungu(11:04 PM, 27 July 2021 (CAT)". Doesn't seem to add up. Daniel (talk) 21:16, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
@Daniel:, that is interesting, this AFD has been a pain and SPIs don't move very quickly anymore. I was tempted to put in a note to any reviewing admin to relist or extend the discussion to how the SPI turns out, but now we obviously have a deceptive COI/autobiography issue. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 21:30, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
I think calling out the potential (apparent) COI issue might be very relevant for the AfD. Will leave with you. Cheers, Daniel (talk) 21:36, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Also going to ping RoySmith as they have dealt with this issue in previous SPIs. I don't know if the previous accounts have ever been directly connected to the artist themselves. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 21:41, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
There's so much WP:NOTHERE going on, it's hard to know where to start. But, I'd just be patient and let the AfD and SPI both run to their inevitable conclusions. At which point, I would imagine a generous amount of salt will be spread around. -- RoySmith (talk) 22:41, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Tend to agree. Don't stress about the autobiography template on the article, yes the editor shouldn't be edit warring to remove it but don't sink to their level and edit war to restore it. People evaluating the article can do so without the template. Daniel (talk) 23:04, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Alright I will step back, I however have now confirmed the connection, after I gave them the link above as proof of the COI it suddenly got deleted. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:12, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Follow-up from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Thabo Daniels/Archive: we now know exactly who is running this sockfarm - none other than the musician themselves. In addition to the tweet, which near enough confirmed it, check out the 'failed login' of "Bmcabana577@gmail.com" (which isn't registered, by the way) by the same IP address. Puts the disruption into context! If you see this article recreated in draft space or mainspace (hopefully won't given the filters put in place), ping me and I will delete it on sight. How to fix article

Hi, I'm wondering how I can fix the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:David_Baker_(Lawyer)

It says that the sources are not reliable, but I have linked both the law website page and all of the official court reporters which show his involvement. Let me know what other sources I should include. Thanks so much! Kbens12334 (talk) 22:07, 16 August 2021 (UTC)kbens12334

@Kbens12334: the sources you have provided are incorrectly formatted, connected to the subject or not about the subject, to fix this issue please read through WP:REFB. This should also help you with identifying reliable sources which discuss the actual subject. We need to see others have noticed him enough to publish things about him. Once you have those the article should be mostly based off this sources. WP:ANYBIO is the inclusion criteria we are looking at.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 22:32, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

Elongate draft

Hi there, I'm reaching out because you were previously attending to the Elongate article. I have taken over the article and merged in other versions that were also in the AfC queue (this is the earliest one). If you get an opportunity, please take a look. I believe it meets all criteria, and follows the same structure as previously suggested frameworks, like the one used on the SafeMoon entry. Thank you! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Elongate_(cryptocurrency)

Request on 12:16:07, 5 September 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by 207.253.140.11

I’m not sure what rules don’t apply here. It’s literally a law enforcement agency… Do you require spotlight articles for every single law enforcement agency on Wikipedia?

207.253.140.11 (talk) 12:16, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

This is a group of peace officers much like PS&E peace officers from Calgary. The reliable references only seem to be part of a blitz from the organization to increases their numbers. The other references are either a mere mention or not independent of the organization. As everything that is in this draft is already in the parent organization article this is an unnecessary content fork. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:54, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Matt Coleman

I am trying to assertain how you felt that ten references from reliable, third-party news outlets, including the NYTimes, do not show that this subject qualifies. None of the references were self-generted prose and he was very newsworthy. I know that quantity does not trump quality of citations, but these are all national. Thanks. SanVeneto (talk) 13:29, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

@SanVeneto: being newsworthy is not necessarily notable, as I stated in my comments this is a solid case of WP:BLP1E. We also need to see sustained coverage over a significant amount of time to prove notability, in this case it probably would include several of the same news agencies covering the trial beyond routine coverage.McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:36, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
OH OK I can do that as the NYTimes and WashPost LA Times etc have covered it several times! Thanks for the tip! SanVeneto (talk) 20:34, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Shenzhen RAKwireless

Hi Mcmatter! I was just wondering if you could please give me some feedback as to why you edited out half the article Shenzhen RAKwireless Technology Co., Ltd Thank you very much! CopyKait (talk) 17:37, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

@CopyKait: there were a few reasons, much of it wasn't referenced, acting as an advert or name dropping not helping with the acceptance of the article. I would also recommend you reassess your Top three references. The Entrepreneur article is equivalent to a press release as it is written in the voice of RAK and will not be used to establish WP:NCORP you may also want to review WP:CORPDEPTH as we need to see more in depth coverage beyond standard business transactions such as acquisitions, partnerships or investments. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:20, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback! I'll take a closer look at the citations! Would yahoo finance be considered a reputable source if not in press release style? (I'll keep a closer eye out on that for the future! Thank you)CopyKait (talk) 18:52, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

New Page: "Warren C. Trenchard" moved to Draft

While true that I created this as an autobiographical page, most of the contents are independently verifiable. I can work on that. However, the the vast majority of entries in the section on publications are matters of public record. E.g., I certainly don't need to cite the Library of Congress for validation of my published books! Articles in journals and magazines are likewise self-evident. I have read dozens of biographical Wiki articles that summarized the subject's education without citation.

For what it's worth, I attempted to insert the reflist template multiple times but without success!

Warren TrenchardWctrenchard (talk) 06:57, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

@Wctrenchard:, the issue is nothing at all was cited and it is not clear on which criteria of WP:ACADEMIC you think you satisfy. This all makes your autobiography seem more just like a CV which is counter intuitive to the purpose of Wikipedia. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 14:19, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

I had no intention of leaving the article with no references. It just was not working for me to add them. However, I have solved the problem and have added about 25 references that cover virtually all content--far more than many Wiki pages I have seen. There is no need to put references with published works. I have included bibliographical information for each. This makes them a matter of public record, just as if they were in the bibliography of a scholarly book. Anyway, I am now ready to resubmit the article for publication. Thank you. bios of minors

Drafts like this should not just be declined; they contain serious blp violations and need to be deleted. I normally delete them as test pages to avoid attracting attention,. I'm goingto do this in a day or two after youve had a chance to see it. DGG ( talk ) 04:38, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Go ahead and delete it, there is nothing in the text to indicate it’s a minor with the exception of the picture which is probably some old stock photo. In my view it didn’t meet any threshold for CSD in the draft space. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 05:24, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Draft Hyliion page new content

Hi. I'm an official representative of Hyliion and we are keen to explore getting a Wikipedia page about us published. We've reviewed the Wikipedia community-created draft and have separately drafted our own proposed version of the page. We believe this addresses your previous feedback. We were wondering if we can share this draft with you for your insight and review please? We're happy to amend the current Hyliion draft as it exists, but are aware that we have a conflict of interest and want to make sure we work within the Wikipedia guidelines. New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello Mcmatter,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Information

I'm leaving this here to help you avoid problems in the future. Users are allowed to remove block notices from their user talk pages. Day in and day out your edit wouldn't raise an issue. If one is caught up in the wrong set of circumstances that action could cause way more trouble than it's worth. Tiderolls 14:50, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

WP:PROF

WP:PROF is an alternate to GNG. It does not require substantial 3rd party reliable published sources. It just requires evidence of meeting one of the standards of WP:PROF, and, preferably, basic biographical information, which can be sourced to any reliable source, including the person's own official CV. There is no need for substantial 3rd party reliable published sources I am therefore going to clean up and accept Draft:Peter J. Rentfrow/ . Draft:Peter Schlosser, PhD.. Draft:Jason Shear. Please familiarize yourself with the use of WP:PROF before reviewing more drafts in this subject area. DGG ( talk ) 04:38, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

@DGG: I stand by my decline of Draft:Peter J. Rentfrow none of the sources support anything about the subject as each one is their owns works and none independently support the required criteria, the draft in it current form is more just a synopsis of his works. The same issue existed for Jason Shear at the time of my decline the only verifiable notability was for his father not him. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 05:41, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
Yes, it needed some work, which I have done. The problem is in not specifying an appropriate reason. DGG ( talk ) 03:50, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Alvaro Cartea

Hi there. Not sure I understand why do you consider the article not apt for publication. It follows all the rules, it is factual, truthful and relevant and has external links proving it. Please advise. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseovaldia (talkcontribs)

@Joseovaldia: let me start off with a lesson in Wikipedia Talk page process. First always start a new conversation at the bottom of the talk page, this standard allows for us to be able to properly follow a conversation. Second do not delete anything on someone else's talk page as you did, unless it is against any other policy such as WP:NPA, and third please remember to sign your posts with ~~~~ so we know who we are talking to. Now let's talk about why I would have moved the article to the Draft space. So 1 of 2 things need to be shown that they meet they criteria of WP:GNG as none of the linking is to a WP:RS independent of the subject. The other one which may be easier for this subject to meet is WP:PROF and it is not proven they meet WP:PROF. The other major issue is none of the biographical information is referenced at all, without that this just becomes a list of their works and is counterintuitive to the purpose of Wikipedia. He may very well meet one of these criteria however the article is in need of more work prior to being in the main space. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:05, 21 September 2021 (UTC
@McMatter:: I appreciate your thorough knowledge in Wilkepedia Talk page process. My apologies for having broken protocol. It wasn't my intention. Rest assured all my actions have a simple objective in mind: to help producing encyclopedic content. Indeed, I would never incur into a PA. I do have, however, a question: Starting a post by "teaching your interlocutor a lesson" is not considered a breach of the NPA rule? Regards.Joseovaldia (talk) 18:05, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
@Joseovaldia: not at all, please free to read through WP:NPA. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:56, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
As an additional note I was not inferring you made a personal attack only that if was one placed onto someone else's talk page you would be within your right to remove it. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 19:28, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Is there a list somewhere I can notify someone that a page is missing from wikipedia?

Hello there!

I'm unaware of how to properly use wikipedia to create pages that don't exist and I have absolutely no interest in learning. Creating wikipedia stuff is not for me.

Is there a place where I can point out when and where pages are missing?

For example my attempted article submission (was aiming to get a stub going for others to carry on adding to) was regarding a member of a hip-hop trio from the 90s, both other artists have their pages on wikipedia but he doesn't, despite his life being just as fascinating and full of competitions, awards, songs, etc as the other two. I would argue in fact that he is the second most interesting member because the other guy just got fat and coasted off his fame.

Wargravy (talk)

@Wargravy: you can try WP:RA. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 04:05, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Elliot Rodger having a separate wiki article

I noticed that other, lesser-known mass murderers, such as James Holmes or Jeff Weise, have their own separate wiki articles from their killing sprees. Rodger, unlike Holmes or Weise, inspired a number of copycat crimes and is still very 'influential' in the incel community, which still recognizes Rodger as a 'saint' or 'hero.' I think the criteria for having a separate article has already been established, but I'd like to know why you disagree.

TheWikipedia05 (talk)

@TheWikipedia05: you have to prove all of this by using reliable sources and base the article of those sources. The other policy you need to be aware of is WP:BLP1E. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 03:49, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Request on 03:03:33, 28 September 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Chelyabinsk Hockey

Hey Mcmatter, I hope all is well. Writing to you regarding the page for Alexander Tertyshny. Are there any changes that must be made for the page to be approved? The MHL in Russia is one of the top junior leagues in the world and he is part of a famous hockey playing family dynasty here in Russia. There is an article written about him on Sport Express, the Russian equivalent of ESPN. https://www.sport-express.ru/hockey/nhl/reviews/intervyu-syna-tragicheski-pogibshego-hokkeista-dmitriya-tertyshnogo-aleksandra-1733933/ Please let me know. Thank you! Chelyabinsk Hockey (talk) 03:03, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

@Chelyabinsk: we generally don't consider junior player notable as per the WP:NHOCKEY. Notability is not inherited, so being a part of a hockey family dynasty does not make one notable enough for inclusion per as each subject must meet the notability requirements on their own merits. The one article about them is not enough to satisfy the WP:BASIC criteria. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:16, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

Jonathan Toebbe

I added a Reuters article citation to the page for Jonathan Toebbe. Unfortunately, I erred repeatedly. I wasted your time and I apologize, I’ll go away… again, think Wiki contributions through some more and at some point down the road, give it another shot when I can do better.

You are doing a great job as is Wikipedia in general. I am familiar with the concept for Operational Net Assessment and Wikipedia comes closest as to be nearly indistinguishable from the original Joint Forces Command, Standing Joint Force Headquarters concept.

Have a great day and ever better tomorrows.

Hello, My submission was declined due to lack of a reliable source. I work at the Pembroke Pines Police Department, so I am the source. Is there a way for me to submit verification of my workplace, etc?

ALeigh9500 (talk) 14:56, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

@ALeigh9500: absolutely not, in fact, you highly discouraged to edit anything to do with your employer as per WP:PAID and WP:COI. Everything in the article must be verifiable by others, using published sources. I woudl recommend reading through WP:YFA to better help understand how Wikipedia is not just an indiscriminate collection of information. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:41, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Recent edits to Jason Shear

Hi McMatter,

Thanks for your edits on Jason Shear. I feel that the section on his ==Personal Life== merits inclusion because it briefly introduces his grandfather and father, both accomplished scientists themselves.

Let's have a closer look:

1. Murray Shear (grandfather):

His grandfather Murray Shear was one of the pioneers of chemotherapy. Murray was appointed chief of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Laboratory of Chemical Pharmacology in 1951, serving until 1964. During his career, he served as president of the American Association for Cancer Research and secretary-general of the International Union Against Cancer. Most scientists regard Murray Shear as the "father of chemotherapy."[1]

If you follow the reference provided, you will see that he has been duly acknowledged as the pioneer of chemotherapy by the National Institutes of Health, one of the most respected professional authorities on biomedical sciences. If I had more information, I would have considered creating an article on Murray alone.

2. David Shear (father):

His father David Shear was a professor of biophysics and held academic appointments at Brandeis University, SUNY Buffalo, the University of Georgia at Athens, and the University of Missouri at Columbia. David was also an author of science fiction, his most notable work being the novel titled Cloning. Published in 1972, this was one of the earliest serious examples of Hard science fiction on the topic. [2]

While David might not be notable enough to have his own article, he can certainly be introduced briefly here for his accomplishments and his relation to Jason. You may verify his academic credentials on Scopus here: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=7003702655

Also, the claim on his novel titled "Cloning" is not an exaggeration, as can be verified by multiple detailed comments under the review sections of this work. We can certainly include more references if that's required, but all major platforms including Goodreads, Amazon, and AbeBooks mention the fact that it's one of the earliest serious works of sci-fi on the topic.

Let me know what else can we do to make this section better?

Cheers,

Sway30 (talk) 17:45, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

@Sway30: The personal life section should only be about the personal life section of the subject not his ancestors or other family members. If they are notable they can have their own article that we can wiki-link from the article. Their accomplishments have no bearing on the subject at hand. The reviews on sales sites like Amazon carry no weight or value to prove anything about anything as they are user generated content. If you have a reference to professional reviews in reliable sources then it can be included without the WP:PUFFERY. I have already opened a discussion on the talk page of the article you can any further discussion there. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 19:13, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Don't Give Up the Ship! James Lawrence

Hello McMatter

There is already a W page for Don't Give up the Ship so I assume that it has been acceptable in the past. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Give_Up_the_Ship

It is a disambiguation page which lists four instances of the motto of the US Navy with links to W articles for three of them. Interestingly, the use without a link is the most important, the primary source of the motto, and it was my intention to bring that to life and explain the context and often incorrect use of the motto with the article, then to link the article to all of its existing uses in other W articles incl.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Chesapeake_(1799) (which I did some extensive editing upon yesterday, prompting this article) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Lawrence

and others all over Wikipedia, often, as in those above, presented as fact when it is probably not, or at least has a context and history that might help readers better understand its meaning.

And incidentally, a neologism is defined as a newly coined phrase; this one is more than 200 years old and has been historic since its supposed utterance, or a version thereof.

I won't pursue it further, but whether a neologism or something more significant in US naval history, it's a prevalent inaccuracy on Wikipedia that might benefit from some available clarification. Or perhaps on the other hand https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Give_Up_the_Ship needs to be deleted also.

Best regards, and if I sound churlish it's not at all intended. We all need editors, even when we think we don't. It's the end of a very long day for me on W. Vabookwriter (talk) 06:16, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Hello @Vabookwriter:, I don't know if there is a need for it's own stand alone article especially with the current lack of references. It is mentioned in the articles James Lawrence and US Navy under Lawrence's listing as a notable sailor, if there is a more significant history to this phrase and it can be referenced by 3 good references explaining the historical significance and adaptation of it that adds much more significant information then what is already in the other 2 articles. The decline is not a final rejection only it still needs more work to be able to survive a deletion in the main space McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:41, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Recent edits to Jason Shear

The article for Murray Shear is now live. I have wiki-linked him to Jason's article under Personal life. As for his father David, I haven't found reliable sources on his novel(s) yet so I am excluding his work on cloning. I just made a passing mention of his name. Hope that brings this discussion to a consensus closure.
