Almost random comments

I just read your post on Nike on the MILHIST talk page (by the way, I agree with moving most of the material in the problems section, since they are common to ABM systems). Now for the random stuff:

In this section of the article, there's a conversion of 100 km to 62 miles. Many years ago, when I was flying with Strategic Air Command, we used to claim that SAC "measured things with a micrometer, marked them with a grease pencil, and cut them with an axe." I think this is an example. The 100 km is fairly obviously a round number, and converting it to the nearest mile (why not 62.13 miles?) provides an unjustified illusion of accuracy. I doubt you put this number in, but I think 60 miles woud be the appropriate number.
Since I read your page before commenting -- one section looks like it was last updated in 2007. How have you been doing since then? (insert emoticon) Also, the other workers at the old job were probably peons (pl. peones). I know Brits (and sometimes Canadians) stick extra letters where they aren't needed (as in encyclopaedia), but I don't think this is one of them.

If you use Twinkle, when you view the redirect and choose the "XFD" option, it should do it automatically, as well as provide you a field to input your rationale. If not, {{Rfd}} would need to be re-substituted on the redirect and {{Rfd2}} would need to be substituted on today's nomination page; these manual instructions can also be found at WP:RFD#HOWTO. Here's some clarity on step II: For this specific case, you want to place this on the daily nomination page:

{{subst:Rfd2|redirect=Star Trek Text-Based Role Playing Games|target=Play-by-post role-playing game|text=REPLACE THIS TEXT WITH WHY YOU THINK THIS REDIRECT SHOULD BE DELETED OR OTHERWISE}}

Kinda tricky question, your opinion please

I recently came across the article on Frank Capra and noticed a weird pattern of a zillion cites from one source, which is always problematic. I looked up the book online and found it was accessible so I began to find the actual page numbers rather than a range of pages to use as reference sources. I found that the passages near or next to the cites were easy to track because the editor who was involved had done some very close paraphrasing, a diplomatic way to say that it was nearly a copy-viol. I was curious and saw that the long-time editor has been a heavy contributor in the past and still contributes, but without too much trouble, I could find the sources that were being used. All I had to do was google search on exact wording and find the source. What to do?? FWiW Bzuk (talk) 21:42, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Bzuk Well unless you're up for a rewrite, I'd suggest just posing the tags... {{close paraphrasing|Frank Capra|source=http://example.com|free=yes/no|date=April 2015}} At a minimum this makes it easier to handle GA's and FACs when they come up. waveform graphics

I saw your DYK nomination and had a comment. One thing I noticed right away is that the lead section says that waveform graphics were only used for a short time, but a Google search for "waveform graphics" suggests they are still in use today. If those are two different things, that needs to be clarified, IMO. I would humbly suggest (not as an authority, just a random person) revising the beginning of the article to provide some context for the average reader - why this is important, what it's used for, etc. - before getting into the details. In the process, you could add more sources, to satisfy the DYK reviewers. I could be wrong, but it seems like an important article that just needs a little more work to be recognized as such. Typically there are no pings, so you're getting the same treatment everyone else does. A review on the talk page doesn't count per se, but if I do the review I'm in a much better position to support (or oppose, I suppose!) at FAC when you renominate in two weeks. My review of your last FAC was long and picky and although you were very goodnatured about it I thought you might not want to see another review from me, which is why I asked. Of course this review might not be that long.

Yeah, about that WP:TWINKLE...

...I just saw an edit where you utilized Twinkle. I know that you were against using it per a previous discussion we had. I, too, was once against using that tool myself, but eventually, I gave in as well. But yes, I still wish there was an easier method in which to list RFD discussions; I have worked on its related templates from time to time ({{Rfd}} and {{Rfd2}}), but am still not sure what can be done to simplify their function. Steel1943 Actually it turns out I was confusing TW with some other external tool. I installed TW and have used it a couple of times since. Airborne Interception radar, Mark IV, was the first successful air-to-air radar system, used in Britain's Bristol Beaufighter heavy fighters by early 1941 in the Second World War. Early development of the Mk. IV was prompted by a 1936 memo from the inventor Henry Tizard to Robert Watt, director of the radar research efforts, who agreed to allow physicist Taffy Bowen to form a team to study the problem of air interception. The team had a test bed system in flights later that year, but progress was delayed for four years by emergency relocations, three abandoned production designs, and Bowen's increasingly adversarial relationship with Watt's replacement, Albert Percival Rowe. The Mk. IV had many limitations, including displays that were difficult to interpret, a maximum range that decreased with the aircraft's altitude, and a minimum range that was barely close enough to allow the pilot to see the target. Yet the the Mk. IV played a role in the RAF's increasingly effective response to The Blitz, the Luftwaffe‍‍ '​‍s night bombing campaign. The Mk. VIII largely relegated the Mk. I'm here to add my congratulations, especially when I see you had rather exceptional difficulties at FAC. It's interesting to see how some very experienced and accomplished reviewers were having quite serious problems with some rather straightforward technical matters. Anyway, it's good to think non-technical people were willing to help point out the difficulties they were having and, I'm sure, improving the article in the process. Thincat; I found the non-technical reviews to be the best, there were some very good suggestions on re-ordering that significantly improved the article. I've taken this to heart on newer articles - chronological ordering generally works best, and if it doesn't read well then there's likely something wrong/missing in the content. Atari Flashback Portable merge

Hi, I'm cleaning up merge proposals on video game articles. I noticed that you recently proposed merge of Atari Flashback Portable into Atari Flashback. The merge template doesn't use a reason = parameter, so you need to open a merge proposal discussion at Talk:Atari Flashback if want the articles merged.
