Yes, anyone can add a prod tag to an article so don't worry about that. Now we just have to wait and see if anyone removes the prod tag, and if its still in place in seven days the article can be deleted. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:55, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Catalan surnames[edit]

It is common in catalan culture inserting an "i" between the two surnames. International sites are not aware of this and they use the spanish way. It's like forcing an Argentinian to write down his/her second surname. They won't do it because they don't use it. Same situation with diacritics, you can find Solà in Catalan and Solá in Spanish. Feel free to change it.

About Enric, you wanted a source, you got a source: Anuari del futbol català 2005-2006, page 50. © Sergi Mas, Impr. Central de Artes Gráficas S.A., Torrejón de Ardoz, 2006, ISSN 1697-719X. It's a book, there is no online link. --Arinsau (talk) 19:10, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for September 13[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Igor Arnáez Martín, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Athletic Club. Viale[edit]

He has played 2 Intertoto matches against FC Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț, a fully pro team ((here). Since you communicated with me and I wanted to tell you for a long time, can you restrict to common names please? Like it is Pacheta not José Rojo Martín, Gonzalo (footballer, born 1984) not Gonzalo de la Fuente de la Iglesia. I have moved some, I'll try more! Thanks ! RRD13 (talk) 06:49, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to the page listed [1] as the source of reference. Please note that user-generated content such as blogs are generally not regarded as reliable sources, and a more verifiable source should be used as the basis of your edit. I have reverted your edit for now but you may wish to include the content provided it is supported by a suitably reliable source. Thank you.

I have no idea why you need to be worked up over a valid revert. As is the guideline, the edit was removed over an unsuitable reference, while welcoming you to replace it with a reliable source. Edits need to be verifiable according to policy and a simple sourcing of a better reference would have suffice in this case. LRD 13:59, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That wasn't about his B-team appearances, was it? I did not remove his previous B-team content and the edit I reverted was due to reliable source concerns, which was promptly validated when a reliable source turned up different stats. Seriously, you need to cut down on your use of caps even if you do not agree with some editors or certain edits. Thank you. LRD 14:09, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This[2] was the edit removing his B-team stats, by a Canadian IP. I had a look at it and found nothing wrong with it regarding verifiability and the supporting RS. A previous editor was antagonistic in his edit summaries, with unnecessary caps and insults, and I don't think it helps in Wikipedia, which is a collaborative project after all. If you find that that's the best approach, disregarding netiquette, then all the best. I certainly don't need to be 'warned' nor is my eyesight bad enough to need caps for viewing. LRD 14:26, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to butt in, and it may just be me being stupid, but could you point out where in that latest source it says eleven league goals for Tenerife B? I only see it saying six... Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 15:31, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I had assumed good faith regarding that source. I'll leave it to MYS to explain the edit and corresponding source. LRD 15:43, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. I won't ask why you quoted a source that doesn't verify the content, when you have one that does. I'd guess it comes down to what another editor taught you about stats sites being "links" and not "references"... But assuming futbolme is reliable, and the goals on that page are league goals and not goals in all competitions, you'd better add the futbolme source to the article instead of/as well as La Opinión. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 16:03, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are all sorts of reasons for including sources for content we add to articles. One is because that's how Wikipedia works: we're not supposed to include anything that hasn't come from already published reliable sources, and the easiest way to prove it is to include a citation. Another is so the reader can check for themselves whether the content is likely correct or whether it's made up, without having to guess which of the many links in the link-farm at the bottom of the page might be the relevant source. Specifically, the policy on biographies of living persons says quite clearly that

any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be explicitly attributed to a reliable, published source, which is usually done with an inline citation.

As it seems from the conversation above that someone did challenge the material, it either gets sourced or it gets removed. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:20, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looked like a good-faith removal of unsourced content to me. Anyway, I've added the offending items to the stats table, with sources and a hiddden note, so that should get round not wanting refs in the infobox. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:06, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I echo what LRD NO said at my talk page: if the relevant federation publishes an official goalscorers table with matches, please use it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 07:48, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We've already established that the blog isn't a reliable source even if it's accurate: we can't write an encyclopedia on the basis of a random person counting things we can't see and putting their answer on their personal blog. But, if the blogger is 100% certain of his counting, and he makes it 18/5 for Tenerife B in 2012/13, and none at all for Tenerife B in 2011/12 because he was still playing in the Juvenil, then Ayoze hasn't got 11 goals for Tenerife B... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:13, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm seriously impressed... I'll move that conversation to the article talk page when I've got a minute. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:05, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox stats[edit]

Hello. Happened to notice this update at Saúl Berjón. Just to remind you that the datestamp in the infobox should be set to a date or date/time unambiguously after the last match included in the stats, and not to the bare date of the player's last match. If you want to use a bare date, please set it to a date after the player's last match, or if you're happy with using a full timestamp, then set it to five tilde characters ~~~~~ which the system will convert into the current date and time. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:49, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As to the timestamps, I've been here plenty long enough to know that some editors, whether anonymous or registered, whether out of ignorance or wilfulness, don't update infobox stats properly :-) It's not worth getting wound up about. If there are regular editors, anon or otherwise, who keep on changing the infobox stats without updating the datestamp, make sure they've had the proper way to do the update explained to them at their talk page, and then if they persist, go through the user warnings procedure. And if they keep on doing it, they can be reported at WP:AIV for disruption.
As to the sorting, you're correct that we sort by given name rather than surname in certain specific circumstances: see WP:NAMESORT#Other exceptions, the final bullet point. But personally, I wouldn't be convinced that Jacob Sánchez is "known primarily by their first name only". Certainly the sources cited in the article don't support that view.
I'd suggest you leave it alone. Both you and the other editor are edit warring, and it's time you both stopped. You both believe you're in the right, but believing you're in the right isn't a justification for edit-warring. I think the best course of action would be to wait for the article to be deleted, which it could be at any moment. If the same thing happens again, and you're sure the subject satisfies the "known primarily by their first name only" exception, I'd advise you not to use your edit summaries to snipe at the other editor, just take the matter in a civil, non-sarcastic manner to the article's talk page, and only go to the other editor's talk page to notify them of the talk page discussion. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:19, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Salamanca AC[edit]

Hi, how are you?. Thanks for check my "poor" gramma. Your right, in that source doesn't say the Salamanca AC has been disolved, although there's an other team founded by former UD Salamanca's supporters, that team doesn't have to see with the AC. Has 1 year and is called (they supporters didn't think hard about the name xD) "Unionistas de Salamanca". This one has license to play and is the UDS successor. Here the website where you can read a summary about the new team. By the way, the team doesn't play in 2B but in regional divisions so hasn't got relevance yet. --Ravave (talk) 10:12, 24 October 2014 (UTC) Greetings[reply]

I saw your draft, and it's very well. I hope so the new team will be able to return between the biggest like the other. I guess if the club shall reaches the 3rd Division, could be have relevance (Now we wait). If you want, add some information about the SAC and the Unionistas in the UDS, go ahead. I will help you always as i can, although with sources, of course. --Ravave (talk) 17:24, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

At the time, Enzo was still a junior player who has not played for a national nor U21 team. If I recall correctly, Cristian's article was deleted after playing for Peru's national team! Enzo did not received significant coverage until his father was named coach to Castilla with the absurd notion he would be playing for Castilla even though he was not featured at Juvenil A. Thanks! Raul17 (talk) 02:40, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, my friend! :) Although, I was just about to add a PROD to Enzo, then I saw he is Zidane's son, thus covering WP:GNG (as you can see, he's not the only one, José Luis Gómez Pérez also covered GNG after a long discussion. Cheers, MYS77 12:16, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well that means that Castilla's Marcos Llorente should have an article because his father, uncle and grandfather all played for Madrid! Thanks again! Raul17 (talk) 03:35, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's where the problem lies. He needs to cover WP:GNG, which means his article has to be covered with good references and good reliable sources. You can create an username draft and ask an admin if it is reliable enough; if it's not, then you can leave the page as your draft until the day the specified player make his pro debut (see my sandbox for some examples). Cheers, MYS77 12:05, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tips. But I doubt that Marcos will pass muster. Very grateful for your help!! Raul17 (talk) 05:06, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Balearic footballers[edit]

Hey there. Could you look at the talk page before making changes, and respond there first? Thanks so much.RangerRichard (talk) 18:59, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, MYS[edit]

Thank you for writing and your comments. I'm a geographer, professsionally a park ranger, and am a bit confused by the fervor of folks when what I consider to be rather innocuous, helpful and encyclopedic changes are made to Spanish footballer pages. You'll have to bear with me here.

1. It's true "Palma" is 100%, but much in the same way "Philly" and "DC" are-- they are short forms. "Palma de Mallorca," at the very least, is no less correct, and it has the benefit of being the long form of the name and indicating where it is, what island it happens to be on. You suggest that "Palma" is used in the English name, but this is really true-- it's listed as Palma, Majorca, which I would call a hybrid form. I'm happy to use that, though I don't believe it's the best form.

2. There seems to be some confusion about where Campins was "born." I'm happy to add a note that some sources list his birthplace as elsewhere-- in fact, I was planning on doing the same for Palma (I won't go through with you my thoughts on why it seemed less likely a smaller place name would be incorrect, but it just did. Reasonable people can disagree here.

3. I hear much about "consistency" when it comes to footballers, but I don't see that. Footballers in Spain are treated according to geographic rules no one else from Spain are treated to. I'm not certain why any attempt to provide more information is greeted with such great suspicion. Did I mention I'm from Alaska? I'm not of Spanish descendent. I'm not of Catalan descendent. I do, however, think geography is important. It's likewise strange to me-- glad you point this out-- that often in both Spanish and Catalan Wikipedia, footballers, in their infoboxes and text, are treated the same, but in English Wikipedia, there's a different treatment-- a treatment which does not add information, but which subtracts it. Again, folks use the word consistency to describe this, but it's merely an internal consistency, not a consistency that hooks up Spanish footballers with anything outside football, and not a consistency that comports with their treatment in either the Spanish or Catalan communities (and often both). That's not consistency. That's ... peculiarity. Indeed it's very peculiar.

4. I would suggest you do as I have done-- not engage in an whole-sale reversion of my changes. I have not added "Balearic Islands" here whilly-nilly, I have carefully looked at each entry to come to careful conclusions. I would suggest you do the same, else you will appear as partisan with an ax to grind, rather than as someone interested in taking a careful look at each entry individually.

Thanks for your help. I've taken your comments off of my page, and have added them to the entry for Campins. As necessary, I will add them to other entries. Feel free to remove it from your talk page too.RangerRichard (talk) 19:39, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, MYS:
You are mistaken that there are no Spanish footballer players whose second-level geographic areas are shown in infoboxes. I do not mean pages recently changed by me, I mean pages that have existed for months, created by other people. These second-level geographic areas, in some situations, are relevant and helpful. You have not suggested any reason why a blanket rule should exist. Indeed, no blanket treatment of these players, contrary to your current representation, does in fact exist. Thus I am not in a position to follow such "consistency" or "precedence" here, particularly when individualized treatment would argue in favor of adding helpful geographic data directly into the infoboxes in some cases. If you can suggest some reason in particular cases why it is not helpful, I will gladly listen to and consider your rationale. Again, contrary to your suggestion, there is no reason why an external link cannot in an appropriate case function as a reference, particularly when there is some question on the matter, or when it has been the topic of controversy. In this case, you'll note, the reference and the external link contain mention of the second-order geographic area, suggesting that these geographic data are often useful even for non-specialists and thus for general use. RangerRichard (talk) 01:38, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying that is not helpful. But think like a user, not as an editor. If he/she does not know, what's the main thing he/she'll do? Click on the page, of course! Even with the region being clarified, he'll click in the page anyway. So, according to you, we should add in Neymar the following: Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo (state), Brazil? Or in Isco: Benalmádena, Province of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain? It's too big and these types of detail can (and should exist), but not in a box made to be tiny. MYS77 01:47, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's an argument that could be made for the name "Spain" as well. It simply proves too much. At any rate, you're not discussing the cases in question. You should limit yourself to justifying the actual articles you've changed, which is something you have not done, nor even attempted to do. If and when you do so, I will listen to what you have to say. So far, you have given examples from other places, but not discussed these places, nor how *actual users* would perceive them. How cities in Brazil might be seen is simply not relevant, and does not justify your actions to the slightest degree. Where I making changes there, it might be a different story. As it stands, discussing other articles provides no basis for changing these articles. RangerRichard (talk) 01:51, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and like yourself, User:Walter Görlitz refuses to engage in an individualized analysis when it comes to geographic matters. So with regard to Antoni Arabí i Serra, who is now a politician and member of the People's Party of the Balearic Islands, the infobox, which is supposed to provide info about the subject at a glance, you've taken out the crucial bit about where he's from-- the Balearic Islands. It's true that you could find out elsewhere he's from the Balearic Islands. Indeed it's true you could find his hometown elsewhere. Indeed you could find he's from Spain elsewhere. But the Balearic Islands relates to *who he is now.* Without engaging in this sort of individualized inquiry, you do not increase the usefulness of Wikipedia, you decrease in the name of "consistency." You might as well not have any infoboxes at all. I have added back in the Balearic Islands with regard to Arabí i Serra on this basis. You have offered none to take it out, other than examples from Brazil and Thailand, which are insufficient given the particular nature of his political engagements (even if he did used to be a footballer), and the fact he's from Spain, not Brazil or Thailand. Making wholesale changes without looking at the *whole article* will have you miss these important biographical data. It's a terrible shame that you would make such changes without doing so. RangerRichard (talk) 02:15, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently you didn't read what I wrote, and you didn't read what *you* wrote. Arabi i Serra *was* a footballer, and *now* he's a politician, so the infobox serves two purposes, or at least it *should be* serving two purposes. Likewise, you've pointed to a guideline, and guidelines can be followed when it makes sense to do so, and need not be followed when it does not make sense to do so. Indeed, as it indicates in the guideline itself, it is a suggested format. None of the Canadian, American or UK players' infoboxes follow this "suggested" format, as I'm sure you know. Perhaps Spanish footballers' infoboxes generally should, but in this case, where the biography is of a *former* footballer and a *current* political operative, that's a good reason not to follow the infobox for footballers, as he's more than a footballer. Again, reading the whole article, and considering the whole context, is necessary here as elsewhere-- otherwise, it would be a rule, not "suggested," and not a "guidelines."RangerRichard (talk) 02:28, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've placed your comments and my response at Talk:Antoni Arabí i Serra where they belong. Cheers. RangerRichard (talk) 02:49, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

response[edit]

Hi, Look I don't really care honestly about anyones side of this. I got involved in this from ANI, I'm just trying to help end the disruption. I suggested to RangerRichard that they take action to get a consensus. No more fighting back and forth, just get a consensus. I suggested an RFC because I'm not aware that there is another consensus. If there is a consensus already show it to me and then lets see if there is any other avenue that would be appropriate for them to take to get a consensus for their desired change. If there is not we can explain to them the wikipedia consensus process and related policies. -Serialjoepsycho- (talk) 21:15, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Producer doesn't mean video director[edit]

The source says that the video is produced by Mark C. Eshleman, not the song. --Zack Tartufo (talk) 12:36, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The parametre in the template ("PRODUCER") is for the producer of the song. Didn't you figured out yet? --Zack Tartufo (talk) 12:43, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And, for the records, before Vessel the songs for Regional at Best where autoproduced by the band (so the producer is Twenty One Pilors or Greg Wells, the people you are cited are only music video directors, not record producers). You call yourself such a great fan of theirs, but how you don't know this? --Zack Tartufo (talk) 12:50, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
EXACTLY. So how can Sloane Skala or Mark C. Whatever be the producers?? --Zack Tartufo (talk) 12:52, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the new versions ARE produced by Wells. We can put Tyler Joseph in the singles BEFORE Vessel and Wells in the singles AFTER Vessel, then. --Zack Tartufo (talk) 12:54, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No problem pal, the important thing is succeed to work together without misunderstandings ;) --Zack Tartufo (talk) 17:04, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sevilla debuts[edit]

Hey MYS77

I'd like to tell you that i've created Francisco Tena and Juan Muñoz Muñoz. Both made their debut for Sevilla FC in a Copa del Rey game against second division team CE Sabadell today. You asked me to send you a message when I create Spanish footballers so here am I. Cheers Eden10Hazard (talk) 22:28, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Help me with this new article[edit]

Hi can you help me expand Javier Muñoz, I created this article earlier today. Thank you '''tAD''' (talk) 01:59, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He does not play for Cornella, he plays for Real Madrid, who I am sure are professional. He made his competitive debut for the first team in the Copa del Rey '''tAD''' (talk) 02:06, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Therefore as he has played competitive for a professional team (albeit not in the league yet), he can't be WP:PRODed '''tAD''' (talk) 02:08, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not seeing the logic in that. Sure, a player from L'Hospitalet is not notable (amateur team) but why not the players on the professional team? Well, I should save my arguments until the deletion discussion I suppose. '''tAD''' (talk) 02:26, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks MYS, you are a very efficient and helpful contributor '''tAD''' (talk) 03:50, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Complicated, yet trivial, issue with Lucas Hernández[edit]

Lucas is French, with a Spanish surname and plays in Spain. In Spanish-language sources (and Soccerway), his name is spelt "Hernández", presumably to be uniform with Hispanic people of that surname. However, in French-language sources, where the rules on accents are different, he is simply "Hernandez". Which should be the title of the article and should both spellings be mentioned? I can remember a similar debate on Thiago Alcântara, they removed all uses of the Castillian spelling "Alcántara" from the article despite it being the common name in all Spanish sources on a Spanish international footballer. '''tAD''' (talk) 17:10, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, can anyone move the father (only now remembered the relation :))'s page, so that it has the proper accentuation in "Hernández"? Thanks, both of you --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:31, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I also saw your differences with Gringo in the Atlético Madrid B players. Leave it man, he does not respect us (I thought he, at least, respected us, but no), but this is not even one of the worst situations (I almost understand his approach, maybe he's trying to make that the team is not mistaken with a different one, some readers may read "Atlético B" in the box and not know what team that is), I have already ceased discussing this stuff and leave "Atlético Madrid B (or C)" in box.

Him reverting you/me is normal (everybody reverts anybody and vice-versa during their wikilives), what is not normal is this fucking silence. He says he has little time to edit because of his personal life, and I believe him if he says so, but when he logs in certainly he could take five minutes of his time to talk to us, no? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:05, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@The Almightey Drill: I would rather use "Hernández" instead of "Lucas", as he was mostly referenced under both names. "Lucas" is more used to a short, quick mention of him. But, I'll leave this to your conclusions.
@84.90.219.128: My friend, he does not talk because he does not want to, in my opinion. I've made a notice about this sockpuppetry, and I'll wait for an admin's response.
Happy weekend for you both, MYS77 22:18, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox help[edit]

Hi, I've learnt my lesson on notability and in my sandbox I have been sketching out an article for what seems like the last remaining member of the Spain U19 team which conquered Europe in 2012 (he's got to play soon, surely!) Anyway, I find you a very precise and thorough editor, so if you ever want to expand and tidy this sandbox work in progress, I would be very pleased.

--84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:17, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • E devias ir ver a página do Licá, continua.

James Hamon and Guernsey football[edit]

Hello, and sorry, I probably assumed too much knowledge of the British football structure. The GFA Academy isn't something that a player goes to before he joins a club, it's something run by the Guernsey Football Association, which is the governing body for football in Guernsey, that provides coaching and occasional under-age representative matches against teams from other local Football Associations, to help a young player's development, as an addition to his club coaching and games.

Like how young English Manchester United players sometimes go off to training camps run by the Football Association and play for the FA's under-age teams, i.e. the England national youth football teams, but they're still Man Utd players. Mr Hamon played for the GFA U18s, but he was still a St Martins and/or Guernsey FC player at the time.

Incidentally, I think that BBC snippet-in-a-box that says he played 13 games for Guernsey FC is wrong. The all-time stats page on the club website gives him 14, and if you check out the individual season pages via the dropdown on the appearances page, he does have 14, of which 12 league, one FA Cup and one local cup. I'm guessing the BBC piece was omitting the local cup game. It's better to leave infoboxes empty unless you're sure your source is not only accurate and complete but also counting the same thing that WP does, and snippets in general articles rarely do all those things. hope this makes more sense, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:46, 17 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Another "charmer" that I am composing, in the meantime please don't enter there and create an edit conflict man. What you could ask, if you want, is if the Austrian Football First League is notable, I think it is not (yes mate, someone told me that, in some countries, not even the SECOND LEVEL is notable). If so, this has to be deleted.

Roy started out as a nice guy (really), now I think he does not talk to anyone. A shame... --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:46, 17 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, according to WP:FPL, it is notable indeed. RRD is very annoying though. Now he's writing in every intro: "<nation> professional footballer who plays mainly as a/an <position>". The guy was a goalkeeper and he was still writing this mainly (the goalie can play in any other positions, right?)
Cheers, MYS77 23:33, 17 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I did what I (stupidly) asked of you to do, asked at WP:FOOTY and the competition is notable enough, so article stays. WOW! "Mainly as a goalkeeper"?! First time for everything, I imagine... --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:20, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And Gringo continues with the following: he has to have ALL storylines starting with "Born in...", and changes the sentences to his liking even though they make no sense (have a look at Jordi Figueras Montel, which I have already reverted some weeks ago - he left the sentence saying "Jordi WAS a short spell" http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jordi_Figueras_Montel&diff=567683707&oldid=567338803! - David Bermudo, Aleix Coch, also reverted), I once contacted him about this and he said "Sure my friend, I'll stop, I just want to keep a coherent pattern of editing"...yes, and of poor English! No fucking respect he is showing (me at least), and no point in reporting because he has THOUSANDS of different IPs.

Again, my fault for not leaving WP, if Gringo wants to be like this I am not forced to watch. Happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 02:22, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes this "Born in..." doesn't fit very well to the rest of the storyline... *sigh* What people need to understand is that we tend to have a pattern in these pages, but what we don't need is a disjointed English. Cheers, happy weekend :) MYS77 02:26, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wording[edit]

It looks like I mislead you once again :( In storylines, we should not write "top-divisioner" because it seems it's not a word at all, I honestly thought it was.

Maybe we should write instead "...signed for fellow league club/side..." or "...signed for X club also in the top division/level". Sorry again for the mistake, not intentional.

Happy Xmas --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:17, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problems at all, I do not use this for months... But thank you anyway! Cheers, happy new year! MYS77 04:43, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Weekend suggestion[edit]

Hi there MYS, all fine?

want to work 50%-50% on this project? Not a good footballer, but an important Spanish sportsperson overall. You can name the article Monchi, no other article comes close in title here.

Intro suggestion: "Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, commonly known as Monchi, is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and the current director of football of Sevilla FC."

Box data: 1988-1990 Sevilla B; 1990-1999 Sevilla. Then, i'll write storyline, and you add the refs. Do we have a deal? Here is his BDFUTBOL.com entry (http://www.bdfutbol.com/en/j/j2284.html), and you can also add a FOOTBALLDATABASE.EU entry for him, I cannot because that site is really strict, if you make more than four visits a day, they make you register.

If you accept, please notify me when you finish the draft, then I'll do the same once I finish the storyline. Kind regards, happy weekend. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:26, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problems, mate. I will create him today or Sunday, and when done, I'll tell you. Cheers, happy weekend :) MYS77 17:09, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done! :) MYS77 00:38, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to say "nice teamwork", but I should only say "nice work", as you did it all. I only improved language. I also profit from the opportunity to say I think that BLEACHERREPORT (that one 100%) and GOAL.com (that one not so sure) are not considered reliable sources per WP standards, the first one needs to be replaced for sure.

Thank you for your (very) valuable contributions, um abraço --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:52, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, we can "replace" them by that ESPN FC reference, it has almost the same info. Thank you, my friend, but I'm 100% sure that you'll make this page look better. :) Abraços! MYS77 18:56, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't enter the article now man, I'm working on it. But I make this question: have you found/can you find anything for him having retired so young (30 years of age)? You wrote he played 26 games in 1996/97 but was also injured and that makes little sense - if anything, he retired in 1999 due to injury no? I tried to compose that part of storyline, apologies if I did a wrong thing. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:03, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done! You can "invade" whenever you want. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:19, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Well, about his retirement: I think you're right... Couldn't find much about his playing career. And about 96/97: I found a blog article (nothing official though) which was saying that Unzué would play his first match of the year because Monchi was injured. Diquinha besta[edit]

Boa noite.

Valeu. Abraço. Lucas Gaúcho (talk) 00:17, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Creed7[edit]

Olá meu caro, tudo bem?

Podes me ajudar na página deste utilizador? Tirar a imagem!!

Joan Roman page =)[edit]

hey mate..I know it says this on the page..but in every other player it shows this in the stats also..saying he is in loan ..so i don't think there is something wrong with writing it what do you think ??

Creed7 again - Assistance[edit]

My wikifriend, can you assist me here please?

I am not sure who did he answer to here (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Creed7&diff=641775951&oldid=641762646) if you or user QED237, but if he answered you or both maybe you can help, it's obviously he wiki-hates me (maybe my summaries, where I lost my patience because of his constant errors! But I NEVER insulted him, nor do I have the right to do so).

Take the José Luis Gayà article as example: 1 - I removed his overlinking of La Liga in the storyline three or four times, he keeps re-inserting it. Now he's doing the same with Copa del Rey. Please explain to him what overlinking is, I give up.

2 - I told him several times you don't say "at a win" (or "at an eventual win") but "IN a win", he continues writing in the wrong manner. He does not seem to speak English well even though he says so in his userpage. Related to item 2 is 3 - I have told him several times about MARCA.com (he does seem to understand the Spanish language better), he continues to add refs from sites that are less reliable.

If you don't want to assist because you have other things to do (in and OUT of here), I understand, but I'm done talking to this user. Maybe Matty could help?

Cheers, all the best --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:52, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Message sent, my friend :) Cheers, MYS77 00:34, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a million. If FOUR YEARS is being new... ;) --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:56, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If RRD (yes, RRD) is a reviewer... I don't understand these "rules" of WP. A guy who doesn't know how to properly create a page is a reviewer... Cheers! MYS77 01:00, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replied you, so I see he has a problem with me. Maybe I should have let the Benfica troll win and leave this site... --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:32, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Relax, my friend. You are far better than a lot of some registered users in here, so, I would say that you need to put these things aside, man. I and other wikifriends want you here, and I'm sure you'll not give up on this. :) Cheers, MYS77 20:46, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kepa[edit]

To be honest, it was you who put in the effort to find the Segunda B match reports and his stalled move to Getafe, so the credit is to you more than to I. :) '''tAD''' (talk) 13:47, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I simply copied "our" version into the main space. I don't care for having it credited to my name, if I did so, why would I be on a website which doesn't employ copyright? ;) The knowledge belongs to everyone, I'm just one more human being making a small mark on our learning '''tAD''' (talk) 13:51, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just a small question: what attracted you to "Pompey"? Did you go on school exchange in southern England? '''tAD''' (talk) 13:56, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That was a great game, although as a CFC supporter the final sticks in my mind more ;) Is it easy to keep up with them now they are fourth-tier? I myself picked up at least admiration for Portsmouth in 2006, when they looked dead and buried, but out of nowhere came Alexander Gaydamak and Harry Redknapp and they stayed up. Pedro Mendes and Matt Taylor were amazing, as well as D'Alessandro (although he left at the end). I'm on a League 2 forum and Portsmouth fans still have their issue of The News celebrating after Portsmouth stayed up that season '''tAD''' (talk) 14:13, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As I'm sure you know, Fratton Park is similar to the stadiums of Maritimo, RCD Mallorca and Cagliari - because it is on another island! I do a bit of League 2 travelling, but I haven't been there '''tAD''' (talk) 14:26, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

MYS77 01:28, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Peral[edit]

My mistake, I simply followed the red link on the article about Elche CF Ilicitano '''tAD''' (talk) 12:40, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have not seen this guy around? Unfortunately, I have, only in Mateo Musacchio he used TWO anon IPs, with one he summarily removed the personal life section (here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mateo_Musacchio&diff=641761052&oldid=641039773), what a human garbage vandal!

I have already reported this to Matty, remember it's easy to spot him (I think ALL of his addresses start with 186, I think Gringo had the same digits back in the day, even though I'm not worried about Gringo, he's not a vandal). Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:02, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, if I see some of his edits I'll report to Matty. Cheerio, happy weekend. MYS77 15:19, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, from what I have seen here (http://www.lapreferente.com/index.php?IDjugador=26164 I don't know how to work very well with the site, but I think I checked all of Quintanar's last available squads and he does not appear in any, but then storyline says he suffered a serious injury in 2014 while playing for them), please correct my mistakes at Javier Martínez González if I made any. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:04, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about this, LaPreferente tends to work with only some groups in Tercera, others they "forget". MYS77 16:06, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Promise you won't laugh (DON'T promise, you have to laugh)? I think (not 100% sure, it can be a momentarily problem) FUTBOLME.com has changed configuration agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain! --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:40, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should wait before changing everything. Maybe they're trying to find a decent communication between the website and the database. Let's change it after we see some stability. Cheers, MYS77 19:42, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Santos/references[edit]

There is no need to translate the references as I always add the 'in Portuguese' part in the end. You can see in other articles such as this one than references in other languages aren't translated. As for the Santos thing, I'll pay more attention next time. PMLF (talk) 00:34, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It says 'In the case of non-English sources, it may be helpful to quote from the original text and then give an English translation.", so it doesn't say it's strictly necessary, just says it may be helpful. Anyway, next times I'll check if it's necessary to add a translation in such cases. PMLF (talk) 00:40, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't plan to edit those articles now, anyway, thanks for your comments. It's always useful to hear other people's opinions.PMLF (talk) 00:56, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The word 'addition' as a translation for 'reforço'[edit]

The word addition usually isn't used in English as the equivalent to 'reforço', as you can see by searching here, for example: https://www.google.com.br/search?q=%22new+addition+for+the+seasn%22&gws_rd=cr,ssl&ei=R2-8VJ3xJ8iiNseshBA#q=%22new+addition+for+the+season%22&start=20

Anyway, I have added some translations for the sources in articles I had previously edited. PMLF (talk) 02:47, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All well mate? Hope so.

Years in this guy's box don't seem to coincide in all the links, I just added SAMBAFOOT.com to the mix. Which option do you think is correct?

Please correct whatever you needs correction, I will add some refs tomorrow (I mean later today in Portugal) for his hat-trick with Nacional and his first Sociedad goal. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 04:17, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you did it 99,99999% correct, my friend. Only one team was missing. Cheers, MYS77 12:33, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Have already completed my part, nice teamwork! --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:32, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MYS77, how are you?

I was editing this player, who has returned to La Liga from MLS, and I'd like your advice as you know more about Spanish football than I.

The article currently uses his entire birth name, which is quite ridiculous, all sources just call him "José Mari"

Would it be appropriate to move him "José Mari (footballer, born 1987)" or is this playing name so common it would not be helpful to rename the page?

Thanks. '''tAD''' (talk) 20:25, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
