If you can be so nice to lock Youk75's talk page. Thank you. Gwandoya Talk 23:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure I can - or should if I can - in case Youk75 wants to contest the block. S/he stays otherwise blocked even if the notice is removed/damaged. Aleta Sing 23:58, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Aleta regarding my article being removed

Greetings Aleta,

You recently removed my article titled Ronald A. Alexander. He is a very notable person, as all of his students and clients will affirm. He is my meditation teacher and has over 4000 students around the world. He is the creator of OpenMind Training. You removed my page because I took material from his website. I have permission from Dr. Alexander to post on Wikipedia. He has a book coming out and I thought it would be a good idea to add this information about him.

So yes, I am new to submitting on Wikipedia, and maybe not that savvy. It took a while just to figure out how to write to you.

And I am finding it hard to navigate the help and other items.

Can Dr. Alexander post his material on himself, or do I just list that I have his permission.

Thank you for the cookies they were yummy and when I figure out how to.. I will send you some good gooey brownies.

Thanks in advance for your response...(hope I know how to find it)!

Hi Deborah, I'm afraid that even if he posted it himself, a direct copy of material from another website is not allowable. You could rewrite the information in your own terms. Also, as for notability, can you cite third party sources about him? Have there been articles published about him in newspapers or magazines, for example? If you read WP:Notability, you'll see that the way the term is used on Wikipedia is not the same as importance. verifiability is also very important on Wikipedia. Without third party reliable sources, it is likely that an article you submit will be deleted on notability grounds even if you have eliminated the copyright problem. If you can find some sources to cite about him, I'll be glad to help you understand how to insert the references. Good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions! Aleta Sing 13:58, 5 April 2008 (UTC) P.S. You are most welcome for the cookies! :)

Will Some of You Give Me a Hand?

Funny.. after reading so much of Aleta's talk page, etc. and being an admittedly sexually confused person nearly forever- (not to mention something of a fag hag somewhere in my teens, lol), I feel more and more like I know you all. A bunch of squabbling but seemingly friendly siblings. Now that I've kissed everyone's collective asses, (but with sincerity:))- the page I have on Martie Maguire is in the making, but too long. I need help with:

  • finding WIKI acceptable photos of her for decorating the page.. (Maybe AgnosticPreachersKid?) please? You seem good with pics!
  • AND most importantly, will someone please put in something under the "Awards" section, in her page that will take them to the main band Dixie Chicks page? (Like, "For more Awards please see "Awards" on the main band page") I'm not doing it right somehow. If it could be done for the Discography, then why not Awards? Of course, I'll add some stuff of Maguire's personal awards, etc. in the Awards section on her page, but I think the rest should be on the band page.
  • I'm looking for any more recordings by or from Maguire; if anyone knows any records fit for Discography not there, help me!
  • I've read and seen video interviews w/ all 3 Dixie Chicks being advocates of LGBT folks and issues, but need help finding quotes from both Maguire and Emily Robison (whose page might logically become my next project)-- both women let Natalie Maines speak for them all, but it gets hard on individuals' pages. Anybody? Puleeeze? Satyr? Aleta? Whoa. Now that I've left a dissertation, I'll cut out. Thanks.--leahtwosaints (talk) 22:32, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I've added the seealso for the awards. :) Aleta Sing 00:48, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Leah, I've done some looking, and haven't found anything to quote from MM about LGBT issues. Like you have said, it seems like Maines does most of the talking. If I come across anything we can use, I'll let you know and/or add it myself, but so far I haven't. I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring it. Aleta Sing 13:43, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
I did a bit of looking as well, but my search came up short. The closest thing I found was a short article where the other band members say Martie Maguire appears to be the favorite of the lesbians who show up at their shows. I doubt it'll be of much use, but here's the link just in case. —Mears man (talk) 15:26, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

To Whom should I report plagiarism?

Aleta, I took a look at the Dixie Chicks band page and a great portion of it is plagiarized. What to do? The website copied from is here: [1] note the "gleeful revenge epics" and "bouncy 'There's Your Trouble'" and on and on... I left a note on the talk page of my unease with it couple of months ago when I couldn't recall where I'd seen it, but now.. <slump> What to do? Why do I always seem to bring you problems? Sorry. --leahtwosaints (talk) 11:28, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey Leah, that's not good... I found a page specifically for reporting copyright violations: Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Aleta Sing 12:44, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. But I'm afraid that's a bit too involved for a newbie like me. I found the same problem on a page for the song "Box of Rain" of Grateful Dead fame months ago, and just last week, the Shannon Hoon page, nearly word for word, left a note of the talk page and *poof* the fansite it came from was removed from the "External links" section there. AAAGH. But I still know where it is, just in case I was just about to delete a lot of info I'd saved about the Dixie Chicks' early days, and still think I went overboard; was about to trim down Martie Maguire's page and delete all the DXC"fansites" and other sources for references (some of the fansites do cite their sources), so now I'm relieved I did not.--leahtwosaints (talk) 22:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I'll go post it on there. Aleta Sing 22:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Done. Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2008 April 8/Articles I don't know when someone will get around to dealing with it, and I don't want to take it on, but it's reported now. Aleta Sing 22:29, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Any idea why the "ppl" seem to be interested in your user page? I saw this and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Aleta&diff=next&oldid=204156252 this. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 14:55, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

No problem. One I would have figured as regular vandalism but two with the "ppl" tag made me wonder. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 22:27, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree; it was probably the same person. Aleta Sing 22:31, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Notable?

I noticed you deleted the Billy Weaver article. Another article related to WITN-TV is Heather King. I've never dealt with TV newspeople articles. What is the criteria for their notability? The current version of the King article seems like it should be deleted unless being a news anchor automatically makes someone notable. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 21:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm... good question. I personally would (and will) leave that stub alone. Even though I (and others - I was the 3rd to delete it) used the notability reason for deletion of "Billy Weaver", I just looked, and a better reason is that it was a word-for-word copy of this bio of him. Aleta Sing 21:55, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, now I remember him. I recognized the name, but couldn't picture him. WITN is one of the stations I watched while growing up in eastern NC. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
If you think he's notable enough for at least a stub, I won't mess with it. You can probably see why that other prompted a quick deletion. My personal thought is that most local newscasters are probably not notable enough for WP articles. I don't know what sort of consensus about that there is though. Aleta Sing 22:09, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh no, I agree with you. I don't think they're really notable enough for encyclopedia article. BTW, I think(?) the Pullen article will be a DYK feature tomorrow. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:39, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh that would be cool! :) Aleta Sing 22:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Yay!! *high-fives APK* Aleta Sing 03:34, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
(high-fives back) I noticed the LGBT project doesn't have a section that recognizes DYK articles. Most projects do. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:35, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, we probably should start that. Would it look bad if I suggest it now? Aleta Sing 03:37, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
No, I don't think so. I'm sure there have been many LGBT DYK articles in the past and it's a shame they haven't been recognized. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:42, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
True, ok I went ahead: WT:LGBT#DYK. Aleta Sing 03:49, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! As I said to him, I think it was more even than he makes it sound. I'll start something about DYK @ LGBT. Aleta Sing 20:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Instead of simply "undoing" things why don't you offer to help with this article. ALOT of people and work was done in gathering this information!--Taostiger (talk) 04:18, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

If you look, you'll see that I started to wikify and clean it up a little. Meanwhile, those templates are appropriate. I'm not saying anything is incorrect. (I have no idea if it is not not.) I'm only saying it is unreferenced, which it is, since the article currently lists no references! Aleta Sing 04:23, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Your contributions are DEFINATELY appreciated, this is a group of students who've never done this before and thought it would be fun and educational, and boy has it been! It appears that there's no room for a learning curve. I agree the article lacks many many many things of which we're trying to figure out in the middle of getting unconstructive criticism from the Wiki police. I apologize for the assumption yesterday regarding your efforts to help out. --Taostiger (talk) 14:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Try to take the criticism well - it actually is intended as constructive - to alert other editors to what needs improving in an article, and reverting edits by people trying to improve the article does not tend to be productive. If you do it repetitively, it is known as edit warring, and is strongly frowned upon. (See WP:3RR.) If you disagree with someone about what content should be in the article, discuss it on the talk page. Aleta Sing 20:10, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

If the criticism were constructive it would be absolutely taken well. My problem is that instead of offering assistance and expertise, the way it is handled is by simply just deleting, based on personal opinion. As I mentioned, this was supposed to be an opportunity for a group of students to share information about their community and school. It's important to them as residents of Taos to talk about their community and not have others dismiss their contribution. I fully understand that the technical details may be lacking, but this is their first attempt and to have them be pecked by individuals who are looking to minimalize their work by simply deleting is unfortunate.--Taostiger (talk) 02:59, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

We have tried telling you over and over and over again the correct way to write the article. You have decided to not listen. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:04, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
TT, removing material thought not to be appropriate in an article is constructive. It is improving the article, or at the very least, trying to do so. If you disagree with what is being removed, please discuss it on the article talk page. Aleta Sing 03:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Congrats and request

First off, congrats on your RFA!!! AllstarEcho <--Is proud for you!

Second off, I need the code that used to be at User:Allstarecho/algayda. It was apparently deleted during my house fire absence. If you could paste it somewhere in my userspace with nowiki/nowiki code, I would be very appreciative. - ALLSTAR echo 22:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! :) I've pasted the code into a new section on your talk page. Let me know if there's a problem. Aleta Sing 23:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a quick note - I've deleted the above article, but I don't think G6 really applied. Housekeeping and non-controversial clean-up is quite a limited criteria (criterium?), generally to make way for uncontested page moves, etc., and shouldn't really be used where someone's actually tried to create an article. I think I relied on A3 (a bit tenuous, probably) in the end. GBT/C 16:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. I would have deleted it myself, but tagged it only, because I really couldn't see that any of the CSD wordings fit. I used G6 thinking general housekeeping seemed closest, but I wasn't sure. A3 didn't seem right to me, since there was content - it just wasn't an article. I appreciate your note! Aleta Sing 16:58, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Agreed - I had to get the crowbar out to wedge it into A3. No disagreement that it had to go one way or the other! GBT/C 17:02, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Just FYI

That was actually meant to be a G2 tag, not G3, on the deleted page (Create a page on wikipedia) I see you deleted it as such. —  scetoaux (T|C) 22:46, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

OK! Aleta Sing 22:50, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Your note on the AfD page said you added it to the WikiProject discussion page, not the template. When I visited the template, I never saw the AfD on it. GreenJoe 00:00, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Pomosexual up for deletion

I just noticed that Pomosexual is up for deletion, so I was wondering if you'd like to share your thoughts at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pomosexual. I remember you were involved with the Anthrosexual article when it was up for deletion (interestingly enough that page is actually a redirect to Pomosexual now), so I thought you might be interested in this one as well. —Mears man (talk) 14:16, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, MM. I've commented. Aleta Sing 14:27, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome! I'd ideally like to see the article stay, but I'm sure how realistic that is. The Anthrosexual article was ultimately deleted, and it provided a bit more real world context than this one does. Still, it does have that book as a source, which is a step up from the other article. —Mears man (talk) 15:31, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
To me, having that reference makes a big difference, and my votes in the two discussions reflect that. For anthrosexual, there just seemed to be nothing to cite. Aleta Sing 18:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Have you been able to check out the link to that book yet? My school has the site blocked, so I haven't been able to look at it (attending a Christian school can be a real pain when you're trying to research anything related to sexuality or LGBT studies). I was just wondering if there was anything there that could be used to improve the article. —Mears man (talk) 19:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
To be honest, I haven't looked, but I'll go do so! Aleta Sing 19:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
That link turned out to be useless - it just went to an ad for the book; I removed it. I did find and add, however, a link to the Google books preview of some of the book. I'm looking at it now to see if there's anything we can use for the article. Can you look at it too, or is that blocked from you (how obnoxious!)? Aleta Sing 19:15, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Wow, good find! Surprisingly the site wasn't blocked (at least not yet), so I'll take a look at it. There's a lot there and I have a few assignments coming due for classes so it may take me a bit to get through it all, but I'll definitely do what I can. —Mears man (talk) 19:30, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
What do you think of the paragraph beginning at the end of page 65, starting with "Elsewhere on the horizon, the transgender activists..."? I particularly like the last couple sentences of the paragraph. To me it looks like it's suggesting that the increase in transgenderism severed as a bit of a catalyst for the pomosexual ideology, which argues that people don't need to confine themselves to traditional labels. As the lines were blurred between "man" and "woman", it seems that it led to the idea that it shouldn't matter what the sex or gender of the person is, only whether you love/are attracted to them. There might be a bit toward the end of that section (page 68) that could be used too. —Mears man (talk) 20:27, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

It's certainly relevant. I guess my main concern is too much reliance on one source, even another essay within the same book. We really need some other sources, and I don't know if we're going to find any. I won't object if you want to add some of that material to the article though. Aleta Sing 20:40, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

How about this? It references the book we're already using, but it does talk about Pomosexuality, and there's even a bit at the end that could be used to start a "Criticisms" section or something to that effect. —Mears man (talk) 20:56, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
That's good! Use it. Aleta Sing 21:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I added the source and started a Criticisms section. Feel free to work with them however you see fit (haha, like you really need my permission). —Mears man (talk) 20:05, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Take a look...

...at this and the rest of the page. Is it ever going to end? He seems to be fanning the flames. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:56, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Waiting on a friend? I hope it's nothing major. It's nice that you can at least distract yourself some with the Internet. Aleta Sing 17:31, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
No, it's not major, but he'll be in the hospital for a few days. I can't believe there's not an article for the hospital itself. I noticed that when I clicked on the link above. (note to self, write one) On a side note, I'm trying to think of a hook for Long View. It's not a terribly interesting article, so I'm having trouble. (I don't know why I stress out over these dang hooks.) How's this: "...that the Long View Center in Raleigh, North Carolina is used as a church, concert venue, and art gallery?" That's not very catchy though. APK yada yada 17:41, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Maybe throw in the mix of achitectural styles? Aleta Sing 17:46, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, I've gotta think how to add that. I want to mention something about the place being used for meditation groups (church, concert venue, art gallery, meditation...all under one roof!), but I don't want to list too many things. I need to finish the Moore Square Historic District in my sandbox. The red link look awful in the intro. APK yada yada 17:59, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Good Job!

As an admin! I think you do a very good job as an admin on here, something I will never be able to do.You seem to know alot about Wikipedia.I also see that your in WikiProject:LGBT and I was wondering if there was anything I can do to help in the project. Mr. Greenchat 16:54, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment! Sure, there's plenty you can do to help the LGBT project. Take a look at the to do list, and the list of people to be referenced and sorted still has hundreds of entries that need work. Keep an eye on the talk page of the project, too, because folks often post things they'd like help with there. Aleta Sing 17:05, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Your response on ANI

Hi!

First of all, sorry if I sound like a dick because I really don't mean to. If I do end up sounding like one, please just ignore me :)

Anyways, I wanted to see if you wouldn't mind revisiting this comment you left on WP:ANI. In it, you stated that you agree with Rjecina and thumperward/Chris Cunningham even though the two editors were arguing opposing opints of view. Rjecina (talk · contribs) is the one that started the thread in question suggesting that a user should stop editing articles using multiple accounts (IP address and user account) because it is against wikipedia rules and it was thumperward/Chris Cunningham who said that there's absolutely nothing wrong with editing while not logged in. I just thought it might look a little confusing to other readers to see that you agree with both of them which, upon careful review of the rest of your comment, you clearly stated your opinion.

Anyways, let me know if I shouldn't have bothered you with this.

Peace! SWik78 (talk) 17:39, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Oops, you're entirely correct, I meant Fut.Perf., not Rjecina, and have corrected my statement to say exactly that. Thanks for pointing it out! Aleta Sing 17:58, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Guideline?

Is there a guideline I can source as the reason to not add this to the intro of a city article. He's added it in the past and I don't want to start an edit war. I'm going to start a convo on the talk page and mention why it shouldn't be in the intro, but need something to back up my claim. Any ideas? APK yada yada 20:38, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Probably the most useful thing would be WP:Lead section. Aleta Sing 20:52, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Also, he said in previous edit summaries that there isn't an online copy of the source he's using. Can it still be used in the article? APK yada yada 21:18, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. Yes, he can. It's nice when sources are available online, but they certainly don't have to be. I actually commented recently in a thread (I think on Village pump (policy)) where someone suggested we require sources to be available online. I'm one of many who think that's a bad idea. Aleta Sing 21:33, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Advice?

I recently received this comment from User:LM08 on my talk page, and to be quite honest I'm not sure how to reply to it. I don't really understand what their complaint is, although it appears to relate to Santa Fe High School (New Mexico). I was just wondering if you (or anyone else reading this) had any advice as to how I should reply to this user. —Mears man (talk) 01:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

They were vandalism edits which you rightly deleted. I've replied to LM08 on your talk page. We'll see what happens from here. Aleta Sing 01:46, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Did you notice this edit? Is there any policy or guideline we could refer them to, letting them know that the purpose of the talk page is to allow other editors to communicate with them? —Mears man (talk) 02:06, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Done. Aleta Sing 02:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Aleta, your biased editing is a violation of the rules of neutrality. You should recuse yourself from editing the article. As I've said before, i'm not "editing for him", but you are editing in a biased way. Brianlandeche (talk) 16:19, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

You said he asked editors to go look at the article and help. That sounds like you are editing for him. Aleta Sing 16:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Oops.

Brianlandeche appealed to my "assume good faith" side, and I completely missed the huge controversy on the discussion page. My apologies for blindly getting involved, and thank you for undoing my reversion. I'll leave it to the editors involved on the discussion page. JSpung (talk) 17:07, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I can see how someone uninvolved could be blindsided here. This is all tied into an arbcom enforcement issue with that article. Aleta Sing 17:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

David's legal threat

Did you see my post at ANI or do you have David's page watchlisted? Either way thanks for leaving the warning on Ryanborgz's page. It looks like he's been blocked until he makes a retraction. APK yada yada 14:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I have David's page on my watchlist, although I didn't see it until you added the unsigned template. I'm not sure we should block people so quickly for that, but I'm probably in the minority on that. Aleta Sing 14:37, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't know the reasoning behind blocking someone for one threat. I assume there alot of things that have happened before January 11, 2008 (my account creation date) that I don't know about, hence their reasoning. APK yada yada 14:39, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

My #1 fan is back. APK yada yada 01:01, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Lucky you! Aleta Sing 04:20, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I was looking at this and came across his article. Do you think it passes N? I see he's written several books, but a Google search doesn't show any RS mentioning him. (or maybe I'm missing them) I've never nominated an author, so I'm not sure how liberal notability requirements are with them. APK yada yada 07:32, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure. A search on Google Scholar for his name in quotes returns 256 hits, but they look mostly to be things he authored or co-authored. Aleta Sing 21:50, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I guess I'll leave it alone because he might be noteworthy and I don't want to waste an AfD discussion over it. On a different note, I'm working on this article and wondered if you think I should tag it with the LGBT project. Read the current use section to see why I think it may belong. APK yada yada 08:38, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
It sounds reasonable. Can you find where they've expanded any more about LGBT-inclusivity? The mention is pretty brief right now. Does this church have a page where they talk about at all? Aleta Sing 12:55, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
I can only find the mentioning I sourced from the News & Observer. I guess I'll hold off on adding the project unless I find more info. APK yada yada 13:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
I've never posted a question on WP:RD until now. Do you know if it was the right place to post that question? It doesn't seem to have gotten a response yet, but maybe I just haven't waited long enough. APK yada yada 13:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

From what I've seen of WP:RD, most questions seem to be of a general informational nature, rather than article help requests. That said, I'm not sure where else you would ask that. WP:RS comes to mind, but I don't think that's right. You might just list all the information, saying X says Y, A says B... Aleta Sing 13:35, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Well as I just started experimenting with it a few minutes ago (literally) myself, I'm not yet a good person to answer that yet. Give me a little time to figure out what I'm doing! :) Seriously though, there are people who've been using it a long time who'd be much better able to help you. Aleta Sing 03:32, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Just a heads up. Your an IP right now.--RyRy5 (talkwikify) 03:30, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Argh, I was trying to fix my sig, and you edit conflicted with me! It's weird, because I know I was logged in before. I normally use Firefox, but am using IE at the moment since AWB requires it (I think). I wonder if it's a quirk of using IE and/or AWB. Aleta Sing 03:32, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I hadn't looked at it that carefully. I know it's part of a class assignment; there's a whole thread on it at WP:ANI#Use of Wikipedia for class project. Image in signature

I noticed here that Cooljuno411 appears to be using an image in his signature. It was my understanding that this was against policy (I think it says something about it at WP:SIG), but I can't seem to figure out what course of action should be taken in this sort of situation. I know it's really not too big of a deal (the image isn't anything inappropriate, just the word "Josh", which I'm assuming is his name), but I still thought I'd ask and see what your thoughts on the matter were. —MearsMan talk 21:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you...

Would you mind taking a look at the discussion relating to Day of Silence that's going on at Talk:West Hills High School? Apparently there was some sort of controversy over the event at the school, and an editor has been trying to add information relating to this to the article, but it's been removed due to a lack of reliable sources. The editor has contacted me, asking if a formal statement that someone from the school is typing up would work. To be completely honest I don't know whether such a document is useable, so I'm turning to you in hopes that you'll be able to pull from your Wiki knowledge and help with the issue. If whoever nominated it used a decent hook question - and there should be plenty of possibilities in that article - then, yes, I think it has an excellent chance of being used for DYK. You've created a very interesting article (and I don't care one iota about baseball)! Well done! I've done some copyediting on it to clean up the grammar and style a bit. Aleta Sing 01:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Cemetery

I saw that website while googling for references (there are none really, like most of the NRHP stubs I've recently written), and the woman walked around the cemetery and wrote down all of the names. That creeped me out for some reason. Can you imagine going to see a loved one's grave and watching a woman walk around the whole place writing things down? :/ APK yada yada 05:48, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Anh, my parents were both into genealogy. I grew up with them doing that sort of thing. I've even helped do things like take rubbings of and photos of grave stones. :) Aleta Sing 05:51, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I've had bad experiences at the places I mentioned. I'll tell you about it sometime in an e-mail. I forgot to ask if you think Apex Historic District would be a good DYK candidate. It's not that great of an article, but I think the restoration aspect is cool. I'm going to look for sources about this place. If I find any, I might ask you for some help since I think you're familiar with the Unitarians. I was going to write an article about All Souls Church, Unitarian, but then I saw it already had one. It's a beautiful building in Columbia Heights. I have gotten here, and I haven't damaged anything, only asked for improvements. The tags need to stay unless (and preferably) the sources are provided. Aleta Sing 04:20, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

-I dont think the people of the valley do appreciate your edits its about time you stop..and there is just no way you can edit 13,000 school pages if your to concerned about this one.

Guamrules2

Given the nature of the edits (placing block templates on editors' pages), I found it obvious that it was an experienced user returning to raise trouble. Besides that, the vandalism was occurring at a sufficient speed that I thought an immediate block was necessary to prevent (in the time it took to issue warnings, the account probably would have made another dozen edits). If you disagree with my decisions, I wouldn't consider it wheeling to undo the block or change the length, but I think it's obvious that this editor is here solely to cause trouble. If you insist that I am the janitor at the --- clinic, I will allow you to say that. However, the checkuser would be making an implied statement that I am not editing from a prison, pharmaceutical company, home, etc. Please allow the checkuser to make a determination.

If there is no determination, I will not edit. I did not know that I would meet such resistance to a simple request. Originally, I had big plans to help Wikipedia get references and other things. Doctor Wikipedian (talk) 21:05, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

First, I'm not insisting that you are a janitor, or anything - what I am saying is that we can't tell from your IP what you are. That's a rather significant difference. I believe that you are a doctor, but your IP won't prove it to me.
Second, I'm not keeping a checkuser from doing anything. I saw your request of Thatcher, and I have not even commented on his talk page. I'm just trying to explain to you how things generally work.
You are welcome to edit with or without any confirmation. I don't understand why you wouldn't edit without this checkuser request being fulfilled? Aleta Sing 21:14, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Please do not.

-Please do not make edits to my page i consider that vandalism! I do not edit yours ..or for that matter vandalise it. I'm a student at UNM thats my userbox i have the right to show that proudly! Please do not continue to stalk what i do its freaking me out!

TomSalazar Chat?! 6:12 MT, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Tom, please read the definition of vandalism. What she did is not vandalism. You don't need to throw around words like that to somehow prove your point. APK yada yada 00:45, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

User:AgnosticPreachersKid should really mind his own business i'm sick of the way people act on this site.., but anyways.. its ok and since i looked threw the policy i will remove the image ..it just really bothers me when someone edits my page ...its been done +6 times and i dont think its right.

TomSalazar Chat?! 10:32 MT, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
When you act rude to one of the nicest and most talented editors on Wikipedia (especially to a user that is one of my WikiFriends), then yes, it is my business to remind you to watch your behavior. If you do not like the way things are handled here ("i'm sick of the way people act on this site"), you are free to leave. Remember the civility warning I placed on your talk page several weeks ago, you know the one you said was a "threat"? It still applies, even if you did remove it and other warnings from your talk page. Now, please stop complaining and being rude and go improve Salida High School if you plan on sticking around. Gracias. APK yada yada 04:55, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

User:AgnosticPreachersKid Talented? Nice? You any of those please ..thats your opinion i dont think its true but anyways its best that you stop stalking me..thats sorta freaky haha go do that to someone else..and if i wanna stick around? what does that mean ..if i dont edit Salida High School it i will be kicked off of here? your not making any sence! do not write to me unless its really important i'm tired of you.

Deletion review for Parish (Band)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Parish (Band). Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. 6wolf2112 (talk) 03:59, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Stifle, I came to ask about that deletion. You speedy deleted the article on the same day that it was kept in an AfD discussion. I didn't know about the DRV. Aleta Sing 04:00, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't see the DRV? Anyway, Stifle, would you look at the AfD and revert your deletion based upon that. I think in light of the AfD "close as keep" it was a mistake to delete the article. If you really think it should be deleted, you could of course renominate it for a second AfD. Aleta Sing 04:09, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
It's restored now, but what part of "Before listing a review request, attempt to discuss the matter with the admin who deleted the page" didn't register with User:6wolf2112, I wonder? Stifle (talk) 08:54, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

  • My first contribution to the UU WikiProject is the return of a much-needed article: [[4]] Ecoleetage (talk) 15:58, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Yay! Maybe you've given enough sources to keep the notability concerns away, and we should be able to add some more. Aleta Sing 16:35, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, it is a start. I can't imagine why it was deleted in the first place, given the UUSC's history and mission. Let me know where else I can be of service. Ecoleetage (talk) 22:57, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I would suggest a list of notable UUs, probably on the WikiProject page (that may not fly as a standalone article). Articles on notable theologians and churches would also work. I would like to see a better UU barnstar (the one that was proposed isn't that attractive, or at least I don't think it is). I wish there was a way to bring the UUA itself into the process -- do they even know we're here? Ecoleetage (talk) 23:08, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually, List of Unitarians, Universalists, and Unitarian Universalists does exist as a standalone list already. No argument about the notable theologians and churches. Have you had a look through the categories? I agree about the star. I doubt the UUA knows about us. Of course, we would have to be careful about WP:COI issues. Aleta Sing 23:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm moving this conversation over to the workgroup talk page, ok? Aleta Sing 23:17, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Unitarian church in Charleston, SC

I'm not sure if you know about this building, but it's the oldest Unitarian church in the South and a National Historic Landmark. Here's the WP article and it looks like it's not part of the UUF workgroup. BTW, the historical photo on the NPS page would make a great addition. APK yada yada 02:50, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Ooo, thanks! I've tagged it for WP:UU, and I'll work on it! Aleta Sing 03:00, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm so excited that the flickr users responded to my requests for pictures. I e-mailed 5 people and 4 responded. I wasn't expecting that. In addition to Orton pictures, someone is letting me use pictures for 3 other articles I'm writing. I'm waiting to hear back from the user who took this picture. He said it can be used, but he changed it from all rights reserved to the non-commercial attribution. Once he changes it to regular attribution the pic is sooo going on the top of my talk page. I actually have a picture of the inside of Luola's Chapel, but I don't think there's room for it? Did you think of a hook for Eno? APK yada yada 03:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
That's great you got such a good response! You must have the right technique down for asking. :) No... it's just not that exciting of an article, Turn it. Aleta Sing 03:41, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

oh..ok well i know the person who designed the front and i dont think there is a copyright for it.

TomSalazar Chat?! 10:03 MT, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I think there automatically is under US law - you don't have to claim your copyright for it to exist; rather you specifically have to give it up. The image could probably (?) be used as fair-use, but not released under CC unless the school releases it that way. I suggest any further conversation about this take place at the link I gave you as we've now pretty much plumbed the depths of my copyright knowledge, and at PUI are people who know much more about it. Barnstar

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
I've come across your comments on various talk and user talk pages, whether explaining policy to inexperienced users, dealing with disruptive behaviour, or discussing article content. Every time you've been friendly, often offering extra help to struggling users instead of just chiding them for mistakes, and I've never seen you lose your cool when exposed to incivility. Keep up the good work! Olaf Davis | Talk 21:46, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
