Thanks for moving Tail 'Gator for me, although I kinda discovered that the "You can't move pages because your account is too new" page wasn't there anymore, and the Wikipedia system seemed to let me move stuff.

Also, I traditionally use "~GMH" to end my notes/notices/informal letters/etc., but it seems that y'all use the ~~~~ convention, so I'll do that in the future.

Signature suggestion

You can modify your signature to display ~GMH but still link to your user page. Click on "preferences" on the top of a Wikipedia page, then modify the text in the signature box to read [[User:Glenn Magus Harvey|~GMH]] then turn on "use raw signature". Democratic-Farmer-Labor

Dear Sir, I'm interested to know how you see affiliation to this party, how it interacts with the national Democratic Party, and just your general thoughts on it. Do they have their own policies, for either Minnesota or the United Statess as a whole, or is it just a local name for the national party? Basically, since I'm British, but have family in the US (both Democrats and Republicans), I'm interested to know how the party works and how you feel as a member of it. The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) was formed when the Minnesota Democratic Party merged with the Farmer-Labor Party in 1948. Both parties were progressive (left/center-left) with the Democratic Party being more urban and Roman Catholic and the Farmer-Labor Party being more rural and Lutheran/other Protestant. They merged as they were splitting the non-Republican vote. The Democratic Party in Minnesota was more of a third/smaller party. Since the merger, the name DFL has been kept to remember the history and legacy of the party in Minnesota. The DFL is the state affiliate of the Democratic National Committee (the nationwide Democratic party) and sends delegates to the national convention. However, traditionally the Minnesota DFL has been further left then the rest of the Democratic Party. Under Minnesota law, party affiliation is private data and you do not register to vote by political party. You need only declare your party affiliation if you attend your local precinct caucus (in Minnesota used for party endorsement and election of statewide party officials) or if you serve as an election judge (the Election Day officials who administer the election at the precinct). Incidentially the Democratic party in North Dakota also has a different name, it is the North Dakota Democratic NPL Party and it was also formed from a merger. I tend to have a more hemoganised view of US politics (as would be seen at a national level), with at best knowing something about slight regional variations, but rarely down to the state level. The Republican Party of Minnesota (GOP) has become more conservative in recent years. Traditionally, the GOP in Minnesota was more moderate or socially progressive and fiscally cautious. This was best illustrated in recent years by former Minnesota governor Arne Carlson who, as a Republican, was a bit of a tightwad on some things and in fact vetoed more legislation and spending than all of the previous governors combined. (The Minnesota Constitution [1] grants the governor line-item veto which allows him/her to veto specific appropriations without vetoing the entire bill, unlike the US president who must approve or reject an entire spending bill.) However, Gov. Carlson signed the amendments to the Minnesota Human Rights Act that added gay, lesbian and transgendered people to the categories of minorities protected under the law from housing, job and public accomidations discrimination. He worked for MinnesotaCare which is a health insurance program for lower-income people and children who lack other private insurance. He consistantly supported funding increases for public education, both "K-12" (elementary and secondary) and the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota State Colleges and University System MnSCU. So the Minnesota GOP had a more progressive reputation. In the 1970s, in order to distance themselves from the Watergate fiasco and the national party, the Minnesota Republican Party changed its name to the "Independent-Republican Party" or I-R. This designation lasted until 1995 when they changed their name back to the old form and dropped the "Independent" moniker. Many say this signaled the new more conservative position of the party. Gov. Pawlenty, the current governor, is much more to the right than Gov. Carlson was. So indeed the Minnesota GOP, like the Minnesota DFL, has had a traditionally somewhat different identity than the national party. EdwinHJ | Talk 15:29, 25 July 2005 (UTC)

WP:RD#President Nixon's letter of resignation

My response to the question was intended to humorous which is why I prefaced my signature with ";-)". The reason for my "humorous" response is that historically, questions about RMN. JFK, GWB ... usually result in a polarized back-and-forth having more to do with politics rather than the essence of the question. My sincere apologies to you or any others who may have been put-off by my casual rather than serious response.

It's as though the old proverb "Never argue with someone who knows he's right" is often demonstrated over and over again on these pages. Thanks for reverting the vandalist action of Peter Lee on the article WGKF. This was done by number 212.10.38.36 but I know it's really Peter Lee. He has been a pain-in-the-b*#$% for months now!!! On the Dutch Wikipedia he has been blocked now for a year for this abnormal behavior! We just can't make him stop spreading false information and slandering our names (esp. my name)! He takes another ip-address now every time, to hide. That way he probably thinks he can get away with getting blocked on the English wiki as well... Well, I guess you are just one more of Mario Roering's pets. You should research a bit on the things you revert before doing your dirty work for Mario Roering? But I guess you don't care, exactly as anyone else Mario Roering has convinced to do his dirty work. We have said this on many occasions. Mario Roering does not care about the truth, the facts or anything else. He only cares about smearing the name of Tosa sensei, Genseiryu, The Genseiryu Karate-do International Federation, our European representative, Peter Lee sensei of Denmark and a lot of other people not willing to accept Mario Roering's lies. As soon as one lie is proven as such, Mario Roering's simply makes up a hole bunch of other lies. He will never stop I guess. So we won't either. The fact is, as long as Wikipedians (such as yourself) believe his lies and has no will whatsoever to research the things he lie to you about (i.e. reverting texts, thus promoting his lies once again), we will not stop reverting either. We are a team of instructors and members of the Genseiryu Karate-do International Federation who will not accept these actions by Mario Roering. We are a group (or team if you like) that is growing steadily with members of Holland, Japan and Denmark so far). If you or other people here at Wikipedia believe all these texts (or articles with reverts, additions, deletions, edits etc.) to come from one person, just using different IPs, then please be aware that such is not the case. One person writes these messages (the text which you are reading now) because we want one person to speak the policy of our aim. That is all. As long as you or anyone else is helping Mario Roering in his task - as you have just done - we will simply keep fighting as long as it takes. We simply will not accept this behaviour by Mario Roering. If you have no empathy as to the real issue here, then you certainly have been given too much power here at Wikipedia. That power should be taken away from you promptly, as you don't seem to be able to govern that power for the greater good. Stop reverting the texts, stop helping Mario Roering, because as long as you do that, you simply degrade yourself to yet another of his accomplices. Well, I hope you are better than that, but so far you have shown only capable of being Mario Roering's puppet. The idea of Wikipedia is good, don't get us wrong, but the idea is kind of handicapped, when Wikipedia (at least in this case) host nothing but lies, fiction and deflamatory contents all written by Mario Roering. It is a pity that Mario Roering simply keeps destroying that otherwise kind of good idea that is Wikipedia. And it certainly still is astonishing, that Wikipedia has not yet had the will to enforce any concequence whatsoever onto Mario Roering. It is unbelievable indeed. Maybe if some Nazi started writing some text about the holocaust never having taken place, then you would also help him and revert whatever he told you to? This is a long and ongoing conflict, if you cannot fathom what it is all about, then but out. You are not helping anyone. Talk to Jeremy, Splash and a lot of others who have followed this from the "beginning". We don't read or reply to anything written on any talkpage. Conveying the researched truth and the facts of GENSEIRYU is our only concern. No time is wasted on anything else here at Wikipedia.

Sorry I am reacting before the others, please feel free to remove it to a more suitable place according wikipedia rules. I am not aware if I am allowed to do like this. I did it here because I wanted to respond to some specified points.

First of all I am very curious about that growing team of instructors. Are they certified by the danish or dutch Karate Federation? Do they have any instructor license different than then the one handed by Mr. Tosa. I am very curious what their policy is so far. Their big team just started to be dishonest and slandering people. And now the big team can't win so they start holding their breath like small children, not reacting to anything in a civilized way only like this trying to hurt Mario. It doesn't work so far. He is still standing and more and more people are giving him personal emails to back him up.

We never insulted Mr. Tosa. We are different then Peter Lee, we just don't care about him. We disagree with some of his viewpoints and that is all. I am very sure he would never tolerate the behaviour of this guy Peter Lee.

About the reaction from Peter Lee. It is always one person that reacts and he is the man. Just check the IP adresses you see they all lead to the same part in Denmark. Besides that this his trade mark very clear his writing style. But this is his way insulting and then continue another way by acting as if somebody else is writing to back him up. Same like his own userpage telling a lot of good thinks about himself as if somebody else is writing and after he was exposed he deletes it. He should read his own dojo kun (dojo rules) and should behave accordingly. Well, I do understand the point of the text a little bit, but then again, I kind of know this guy, this Peter Lee... This kind of talk is the only kind of talk he can come up with. I'd say: Don't pay any attention to it (to the insults), don't let him get to you. He is an absolute nobody and he tries to be somebody by shouting around a lot and waving his fake black belt... If somebody doesn't agree with him, he calls him all kinds of names. This boy is so damn intelligent, we should all fall down on our knees and thank God for sending him down... Truth is, we do have all kinds of evidence to show who he really is. Want to see? Sent me an email and I will sent everything you need/want... I think you totally misunderstood the message Hydnjo... That's the problem with written messages, you can't look at somebody's eyes! I even made a smiley ;-) to show I was joking! What I meant was that only if you would attack Peter Lee (i.e. revert his "edits"), he would attack you back, saying "you are ignorant and naive" (as he has done many times with other Wikipedians!)... This was just a conditional statement about Peter Lee, I would never do this myself!!! I don't even know you, so why would I?!? Sorry you misunderstood the message... helpful hint

Thanks for watching our for Ip vandals. A hint that will reduce server load on wikipedia and is very simple is to add "subst:" before the name of the template you are adding to a page. Example {{subst:test}} will insert the actual text of the {{test}} template to the page instead of just linking to the template to load the text when the page is loaded/refreshed. Wow. I've seen Independent, Independent's, and Independence Parties, but i never dreamt...! Thanks for the correction.

Avoiding, in another spot, piping to the nat'l party was a good step, but still IMO it looks too much like an error. Is there reason to rule out (the admittedly unusual step of) making Minnesota Independent-Republican Party or Independent-Republican Party of Minnesota into an "almost-redirect" that mentions Republican Party of Minnesota in the first line, and restricts its content to pretty much what you say abt it above in yr DFL section? (Clearly i don't need to argue to you that RP of M should tell the full story of the IRP in sequence between the two periods of the RP name.) IMO it is worth an extra click to avoid the confusion of those who are sure (mistakenly, as with me) that the hist of the RPM is too straightforward to be worth reading. This should be sufficient justification for MIRP to be a very short article, and since its history is over, it should involve an additional insignificant maint burden.

But in any case, thanks again.

Reverting vandalism

Hey there. Thanks for the heads-up on the vandalism on car bomb. In future, all you have to do to revert vandalism is to go the the article's "History" page, click on the datestamp of the earlier (un-vandalized) version, click "Edit this page" at the top (you will get a message about editing an out-of-date version), and click "Save" at the bottom. This is especially good for articles with lots of vandalism throughout.

The whole process is described in more detail at Wikipedia:Revert.
