Nextmedium Entry

Greetings - we're not sure exactly how/why our entry got deleted. We're genuinely not trying to use Wikipedia for promotional use but simply to have an entry for our company as Google, Verizon and other companies do. We've reread the spam criteria and edited our proposed article to match (although without more information as to what we did wrong, we fear we might be wasting our time). Feel free to send an email or perhaps we can talk here to get more clarity. We love Wikipedia and we'd like to be part of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tim-nextmedium (talkcontribs)

vandalism question

this user is just off a 31 hr block, and is vandalizing again, i gave him a final warning, but does he even need that before he can be blocked, or can he just be blocked now, since he just got off the block? Ctjf83 02:59, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protection help

I've requested Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch on WP:RPP for semi-protection because various IPs (all from the 61.*.*.* range and are all from Indonesia) have vandalized the article by inserting unrelated Digimon information. The two anime are not related in any way, BTW. I know anime is not your cup to tea (I'm sure of it), but can you help me on this. I've posted a second request because the first request was denied and a new incident occured shortly after. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 04:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protection of South Korea

Hi, your edit summary here [1] sounded as if you were going to lift protection, but you apparently didn't. Am I missing something? (Just my 2c, I would support unprotection.) Fut.Perf. 08:33, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeongeunmun Gate. some Japanese user edit like this.[6] I find This edit by Nightshadow28 edited list. It's Totally Hoax. It's purely fabricated edit. cite is nothing, too. see discussion page. nobody prove it. And see article history. some korean correct rightly, Japanese Pushing POV trolls continuously revert it, too. Comic Guaranty LLC

FYI, the edit warring on Comic Guaranty LLC has continued after the protection was lifted. Some of us from WikiProject Comics are attempting to get a dialog going on the talk page, but it hasn't been particularly successful so far. I've tried to get rid of some of the POV and unreliable sources (message boards) on this page before, but it proved too much of a headache. --GentlemanGhost 23:20, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, Yeah...

Usually when the result is delete, you probably should actually delete the article. Haha! I'll take care of it, dood. the_undertow talk 00:15, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I left a request for protection for the Karyn Kupcinet article, but it was skipped over for some reason. Could you possible review it and grant or decline the protection? If you have any questions about the situation, please let me know. Thanks! Pinkadelica 01:37, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

image deletion

Hey east - thanks for getting back to me about that image. The URL it directs to is http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&wpDestFile=Jon_Coffelt_at_Schedler_Minchin_in_2006.jpg

When I look there, I see "why" it was deleted, I'm just not sure how to mark it so that it is not deleted. The image was provided to me by Jon Coffelt, who owns it (even tho he did snap take it); and he gives permission for use on Wikipedia (including putting it under GDPL). What am I doing wrong? Thanks! Deletion summaries

Please stop writing "CSD G0: None ← That is a lie, it was actually an uncontested proposed deletion" in deletion summaries. Query about deletion of Page

Hi,

You seem to have removed an entry on "Dina Nath Walli", the famous Kashmiri Pundit watercolor artist. This person is real and the facts about him on the page were taken from his biography on various websites and personal information that I know of (I am his great grand daughter). He is even listed here "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kashmiri_Pandits" under "Art, Design & Painting", and seems to be the only person in that category to have lost his wiki page.

If there is problem with the page, please let me know, else please restore it.

Thanks so much, Riddhi Kaul —Preceding unsigned comment added by Riddhikaul (talkcontribs) 16:59, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Massive disruption of flag templates

Your recent edits to the country data templates have caused massive disruption across thousands and thousands of pages. You accidentally put a newline character into these templates by not putting the trailing </noinclude> on the same line as the opening double braces of the template code. As it turns out, all you needed to do was make a single edit to Template:Country showdata to add pp-template to all 893 country data templates in a single stroke. I really wish you had posted something to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Flag Template before undertaking such a task. I am currently working quickly to repair all the damage. Signature question

Hi, East718! I've been admiring your signature for the past few months, and have been wondering how I can pull off something similar. What I want is exactly as my signature appears now, except with the timestamp inside the span. I can get a template to subst in my preferences field, but I can't figure out how to suppress MediaWiki's automatic timestamp as you seem to do.

What I have now is: <span style="white-space: nowrap;">Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me]</span>. Do you have any tips for getting the timestamp in before that closing </span>? Thanks! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 10:30, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So I didn't miss a way of getting four tildes to work, eh? Rats. You might have noticed my self-reversion on WP:RPP last night. I used Twinkle to request it, and TW and Friendly autosign with four tildes. I take it you don't use many automated tools with your account.
Somehow, I thought the solution would be to use three tildes. Having my timestamp non-breaking isn't worth the extra trouble it would cause with tools like TW, Friendly, VP, and NPW, though. But thanks for sharing your advice, just the same. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 16:02, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That actually hadn't occurred to me. I guess with Friendly getting updates about every week, I don't want to keep updating my own code. I don't even know how I'd tweak apps like VP or NPWatcher. Whatever; is it really worth all that just so my signature doesn't break across lines? Personally, I think not. But you have good ideas; perhaps you could get a bug passed to make timestamps a user preference in MediaWiki? Cheers! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 16:11, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted images

I wanted to appeal the recent removal of the images of the Waspinator and Alpha Trion toys. Both these image were removed under the grounds that the images could be replaced by freely available images, but I don't think this would be possible. Both toys were never released, and these images of the prototypes of the figures are the only pictures taken of the toy known to exist. No one can replace them with GFDL images. AN/I

Two concerns:

1) I'm relatively certain that the user whom most concerned me in a RL sense, as well as any relevant RL people in my community have no idea who (or where) I am on WP. If that link Jeff posted (I think, with some initial malice, as one has to dig to find it) stands much longer, I may have some problems. I'll let you know if it becomes an issue where I feel I need to vanish more permanently, in which case you would be the only one I informed of my next incarnation.

2) The underlying frivolous (in my opinion, shown by the diffs) complaint needs to be dealt with as well. Nick put it best when he asked "why is this here?" Perhaps we could resolve that complaint with an admin letting DCV know that bringing petty perceived problems to AN/I is not really the best option. Especially after I had clearly agreed to abide by her petty ban of me from her talkpage.

Thanks for all your help. Mr Which??? 15:18, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but

No, I have no intention of violating the 3R rule. I'm not sure what to do about User:Gbleem though that has done little over the past few days but reinsert the same edit and leave it at that. Do you have any advice? I've gone for a compromise in removing the entire disputed section for the time being as well as suggested that we ask the Wikiproject Korea group for advice but to no avail. I don't doubt his good intentions but I'm not sure how I can get the point across that there should be some more discussion before we decide on whether the copyright is unclear or not. Deletion of Cleveland Memory article

Are articles about innovative, on-going community collaborations, which Cleveland Memory Project is, considered "blatant advertising," especially when the external site itself is a non-profit community project? This was my first attempt at writing an article from scratch and perhaps I got the tone or emphasis wrong? Or is something like this fated to be dumped, no matter what? I have been reverted. —Whig (talk) 05:13, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't recall having previous interaction with the user who reverted me. I will await your advice before taking any further action or response. —Whig (talk) 05:22, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The simplest solution is that you haven't adaquately explained why a well sourced (per WP:V) item should be removed per WP:NPOV. I have asked you on the talk page, but because it appears (to me...I could be wrong however) that you have made a good faith but POV edit, I have reverted you back to the revision that has the best WP:CONSENSUS. At the moment (IMO) it appears that the removal of that list including any of the individuals on the list does not have consensus, albeit there is a discussion to move them to a list rather than on the actual article. If you have any questions, you only need to ask on the talk page. Keep a cool head however :-) Shot info (talk) 05:27, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Would an RfC/A be called for? —Whig (talk) 06:23, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Probably better to inquire on the talk page (rather than here). But seriously, an RfC will probably just end up agreeing with the established consensus. The best thing to do is look at ways of improving the article, but by all means if you feel a RfC is called for, go for it. Thanks Shot info (talk) 06:40, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have been reverted again. There is also a complaint with an unfortunate edit summary and threat to ban me immediately. —Whig (talk) 07:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have had previous encounters with this user. —Whig (talk) 07:22, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
May I at least complain politely? It isn't right that some users are allowed to be uncivil to me. —Whig (talk) 07:36, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The POV tag was also reverted here but was restored by another editor. —Whig (talk) 18:20, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had no intention to violate the letter or spirit of any editing restriction. I will try to be more careful but it seems I cannot edit mainspace at all when there is disagreement unless I want to be criticised. I did not consider my edits reverts. —Whig (talk) 21:11, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am proposing to submit a request to WP:RSN, which I have drafted here. There was previous discussion here. I would like your input on whether this request is appropriate and whether I should accept the offer to have the other editor submit it in my behalf, or what improvements you think it requires first. —Whig (talk) 06:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You replied on Elhector's talk, does that mean you think he should be the one to submit it? I should link him as well to the draft in that case, or even otherwise just for his opinion. I'd be interested in a second admin opinion if you think it would be useful before submitting it if that will possibly help make it a better submission. I'm trying not to repeat all the gory details that can be found in the article talk. —Whig (talk) 07:00, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When a user that has had such serious issues in the past continues to run into the same problems, then something is wrong. The attitude that they are right and everyone else is wrong needs mentorship, not sympathy. We've seen this before and it invariably ends up with them getting banned and their mentor humiliated. Please take some action and do some advising so we can see that Whig is receiving advice that will prevent these problems. Tendentious editors don't need coddling. -- Fyslee / talk 15:33, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page proection

Please fully protect the Afghan-Americans article from vandals who are sockpuppets of the banned User:Beh-nam vandalising the page and also removing your page protection tag. Full protection for a year is the best solution as there is not much to edit on that article for now, and if someone wants to add something (which will probably very rarely) they can use talk page first. The banned user Beh-nam and another vandal User:Anoshirawan are changing the correct name "Afghan" (Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 July 27#Afghan people) to a false one "Afghanistani" name which we Afghan-Americans find silly. Banned user: Beh-nam is Canadian and Anoshirawan is German, so they are not Afghan-Americans. If you do us this favor we will very much appreciate it, thanks.--Ziblam (talk) 11:23, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some thought

Hello, East718, I come here to finish up the unresolved discussion. As you pointed out, anonymous ip users are easily regarded as new users, suspicious editors, vandal, possible sock puppets or something else. Although Watermint chose the absurd behavior instead of discussion, I could've understood him a little. Admittedly I was very upset at you more than watermint's report yesterday. After I saw your apology and you fixing your personal things, my pent-up feeling quickly tied down.

However , I want to clarify your suspicions of "remarkable policy and process"and "editing in a contentious area under ArbCom sanction" I haven't said that I'm a new user but my ip address keeps changing. I sometimes see other people's edits on Wiki with my (my neighbors' or broadband's ) ip address. If I was knowledgeable enough of English wikipedia, I would not consume my time for a while to search help and read the whole incident page to make a report again. You can guess where my opinion on recent administrators was from.

As for the article, you don't know how frequently the article on Wiki and naming issues on Google map are exposed to public in East Asia via notable media. Changing the small rocks' name was for headlines several times. Sometimes, editors from other language Wiki come to visit here only for it. Right before the poll begun for changing the title name last spring, many new accounts were registered and all major media broadcasted about it. You may see more people with one-headed mind in future. If one party unilaterally pushes their agenda and peace(yeah peace) is scattered, several editors might emerge from elsewhere. What I edit on it is just one and the article is even beyond my ability (I'm poor at reading documents written in old Chinese characters) However, except that the countries resolve the matter in action, I guess the disputes around the islets keep continuing like this.

For the last, it is not fair that accusers are always free themselves from any bondage. I have a proposal to prevent this absurd thing happening again. If someone wants to request for a checkuser, checking the accuser should be done first. I still want to make an issue on this matter, and let me know where I have to go if the incident report page is not good place for it. Regards. -72.79.47.75 (talk) 16:02, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm sorry about that. My comment was in bad faith and that's why I retracted it. I used to be an anonymous user with around 3,000 edits across dynamic IPs myself before I registered an account, so I know what the stigma feels like. Sorry to bug you, but just to double-check - were the two requests appropriate to ask for even if one was turned down, and were they both formulated appropriately? You can respond here that's okay, if you just say I did it okay then this thread can be done for now. Thanks for all your help. Cirt (talk) 17:24, 17 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]

You can request as many articles at once as you want. east.718 at 17:27, December 17, 2007
Oh, no that's not what I was asking, I was just checking to see if each individual request was appropriate, and if each one was requested in the proper manner on the WP:RFPP page. Cirt (talk) 17:29, 17 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]
If you're asking whether your requests were malformed, they weren't. You can dump just about anything onto that page, I would hope that us admins are smart enough to figure something as simple as page protection out. :-) east.718 at 17:31, December 17, 2007

Early deletions

Hello. It looks like you have been deleting images after they have been tagged for only 6 days instead of the full 7. Please remember to check the time and date of the tags before deleting them. Remember that if an image is tagged on Dec 11 @ 2359 UTC, it should not be deleted until Dec 18 @ 2359 UTC, rather than at the beginning of the 18th. Activities of User:NewYork1956

Hi there, You seem to be an admin that specialises in image issues. User:NewYork1956 uploaded an image Image:ElisabethSchwarzkopf.jpeg that just seems to be a simple steal from Britannica Online Encyclopedia and the copyright is with Baron—Hulton Archive/Getty Images. We had a minor revert war in Elisabeth Schwarzkopf until he realised his position was untenable. I tagged the image for deletion and it was subsequently also tagged by a bot as an orphaned image. User:NewYork1956 subsequently requested deletion himself Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2007 December 16 and has been reverting edits on various pages in an attempt, I suppose, to hide his plagiarism.

Similarly, on Victoria de los Ángeles he has recently uploaded an image that judging by [8] used to be on Wikipedia but was deleted in October.

This chap seems to be uploading lots of images using suspiciously similar reasons e.g. usually claiming that they are "in a promotional photograph from 1956". His cavalier attitude makes me suspect the provenance of all his uploads. Can you have a look at his work and see what you think? Nunquam Dormio (talk) 09:23, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh actually I requested that first image be removed myself after I changed the image in the article, and the other image on De Los Angeles could have been deleted for a number of reasons, such as no fair use provided, which isn't the case now. The user above is someone I hope not to have to deal with again.

Unfortunately, "permission to use on Wikipedia" isn't sufficient for inclusion; all content has to be free as in freedom, not free as in beer. If you want your media to be used here, you will have to legally release it under a free license such as the GFDL or a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. east.718 at 19:08, December 19, 2007

Explanation on why Greater Katy Article was deleted

East718 I was wondering why you deleted the Greater Katy article. I found the article informative and I worked on it (did not create it) often. It explaned where and what the Katy area is and how it is seperate from the town of Katy. It outlined the schools and areas that are not a part of the town of Katy, and the subdivisions. As a person that has been in Katy since 1972 I would often direct new comers to the area to bot the Katy, Texas article and the Greater Katy Article. I am requesting that you restore the article. I am wondering if you deleted it because in your own opinion you felt is was not noteworthy. Alos, Greater Katy is an area and the proof are the road signs along I-10 starting just before Barker Cypress that say "Greater Katy" and telling you where to exit.

Hope you restore it! Thanks!

If that account wishes to prove the own the copyright to the things they've uploaded they need to do it via an email to OTRS. They also need watching with regards to conflict of interests as they've been throwing their weight around and editing in a partisan manner. Yup, all seems sorted. As an added bonus, this impersonators tagging cause me to add a few refs to the article on the town of Tampaksiring where the Senang Hati Foundation is located. I had forgotten all about President Soekarno's Tampaksiring Presidential Palace - and so I added a bit about it. An additional bit that I can't add - lacking a source besides locals who told me about it - is that Bung Karno built the palace overlooking a water temple where young Balinese women bathed for the view; Soekarno had quite the reputation for his conquests. --Jack Merridew 08:00, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was just wondering what your exact reason was for the deletion of the page, I'm kinda new to actually editing stuff and all so I didn't fully understand the deletion process that you used and what it meant. Now that NBC has picked up a full season order for the show, and that viewer rating numbers are up all evidence is pointing that it will be around for a while, and that is deserves a more extensive page (like Heroes). Hello!

Please, tell me where is my hate speech? Why are you guys lying? Is on my page written: "All americans should be killed or they are pigs"? It is not, cause I didn't write it. I will oppose terrorism (UCK) until the end of my life, and I don't remove anything from your profile, but why do you do that to mine? You CAN NOT call someone who fought in first lines to defend his homeland. There war war criminals on both sides, but he is not a war criminal. I respect you and I don't ask you to respect me because you are an administrator, but I ask you to either stop attacking my page or tell me why do you do it. Can I at least get back - this user opposes terrorism (without noting that UCK is albanian?). One more thing, if you continue doing this I will report you to other administrators (why don't you remove albanians who write UCK who slaughtered babies in Prizren 1998. are "liberators" on their profile?). As you have right to respect for example Einstein I have right to believe that he's an idiot, you can believe about Ratko Mladic whatever you want but until it's proven you can NOT delete him from my page. If we would do things like that then hundreds of users who respect Avril, Britney would be banned if admins like it. I ask you to return those box without being banned! Good luck! --Србија до Токија (talk) 08:10, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me do you know what is Seselj judged for? I watched most of the judging and they have not a single proof, until they prove it (they never will, because he is a good man), I have right that he is my idol I DON'T INSULT ANYONE. There is also no proves for Mladic so please explain me WHERE do you find hate speech? Your excuses to attack my page are not good so I m returning them (with some preparations), if you continue attacking my page I will note other administrators. I 'll change boxes now, you tell me are they good or no, but don't delete them yourself with no reason. --Србија до Токија (talk) 17:25, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I repeat as long as I don't insult anyone, you have NO right to vandalize (right expression you had no reason to do it), my page. If you believe Britney is a good singer, if I 'm an admin is it normal that I ban you or vandalize your page because she was also convicted? Same thing for other singers. Also you better start removing those "This user supports UCK liberators" or I will do it, instead of attacking my pages. I respect you, but what you are doing is not good at all, you are not doing job of an admin very good. And do you know that for 5 years there is nothing against Seselj I watched it, they have nothing! And yeah do you know that it was revealed and Hague itself admited someone payed "eyewitnesses" to lie? Do you know how much books Seselj wrote? Over 50 and each of them about 1000 pages with little or no pictures. Do you know what is his IQ?--Србија до Токија (talk) 17:32, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re Stephania Bell: You very properly deleted this article today after its PROD tag (which I had placed there) expired. I believe the editor who created the article is a little confused about what happened to it -- he left a note on my talk page today. I'm not sure what he's likely to want to have happen, but I am going on vacation as of today and will only be checking in sporadically over the next week. I just wanted to say that he might be contacting you about this article and I thought you might like to look at my talk page -- not only the entry near the bottom, but the entry near the middle of the page -- for background information about its history. Incidentally, I don't care if you recreate the article at his request, or quite the opposite -- I'm sure your judgment will be appropriate in the circumstances. You were the processing admin, and you agreed with the uploader that the image is non-replaceable. It's absolutely nothing personal -- I appreciate you working on the backlog -- I just think you might not have as much experience with how we understand WP:NFCC#1. Giving blanket permission for any D3sports.com photos with the logo -- I add the logo specifically for posting on websites like Wikipedia -- so that if someone does want to take it it would difficult to use it for anything noteworthy without the logo. Other websites in the D3sports.com family include D3football.com, D3hoops.com, D3baseball.com and D3soccer.com for news, D3boards.com, D3wiki.com (unused, future development) and D3photography.com for the photographic end of our work. We have a few other domains but none of them are slotted for development in the next few years. Thank you again for reinstating the images. I wasn't looking forward to redoing the work without the logo and I hope the email I sent in covers being able to upload similarly marked images in the future. --Ryanjcole (talk) 06:27, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will hold off on more edits for now anyhow as it's Christmas and I'm visiting family. As far as the 1RR restrictions, I protest them. If someone blocks me on that account, I would request review. —Whig (talk) 00:43, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not seeking a conflict but the indefinite block was inappropriate. I protest it as such. Any restrictions consequent to an inappropriate block are voluntary and do not give cause to being blocked again. —Whig (talk) 00:54, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

user-requested deletions

I need some help with some images that I unfortunately have to delete. Reason being almost all of them were shot for another photographer who hired me as a second shooter for some of his weddings. Although I believe I have legal copyright to the images, my posting them here does not conform with the permissions granted for reprinting as per the OTHER photographer's contract with his clients. And since NONE of them were photographed in a public venue -- they were all private affairs -- I don't believe there is any "shot in public" rational that can be applied. You have deleted another image for me, can I list here the remaining images I need deleted? --Mactographer (talk) 23:52, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To change this bit:

The WWII flag isn't a legal flag - it's just the military flag used only becasue the real ones were banned. And the 1876 one is the one under which Montenegro became recognized as an independent country. --PaxEquilibrium (talk) 08:43, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yet another coding question

Hey, how's it going? I've got another question, this one's again about signatures. For some reason, even though I've got my sig in an inline DIV, it only displays inline on lines that have been indented somehow, either from a colon or a template (such as the one you've got around your talk page content). Otherwise it always goes on a new line. My sig is at User:Equazcion/s. If you could give me a hint on how to try and fix this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Equazcion /C 20:53, 12/25/2007
I think it could be because a previous element was displayed block-style (inline after block will still block). Can you get at me with a screenshot? east.718 at 21:04, December 25, 2007
Thanks -- I added a test section to the end of my talk page, you can see the result there.
Equazcion /C 21:08, 12/25/2007
Your top and bottom margins are so large, that they're breaking the borders of the block. Lose the margins or drop the font size, and you should be OK. east.718 at 21:10, December 25, 2007
The font is already at 10px, I dunno how much smaller I can go. I tried adding margin:0 but that didn't do it. It's possible this is just a caveat of mediawiki or something but if you think of anything else let me know. Thanks again :) PS. Did you mean padding rather than margins?
Equazcion /C 21:17, 12/25/2007
Maybe, I can never remember which is which. Anyway, the quick fix on your talk page should work. east.718 at 21:19, December 25, 2007
Ha. I knew you were the one to ask. I didn't know you could use small's like that. You rule. Thanks big time!

Recurring weapons in the legend of zelda series

I'm not sure why a delete happened, since I provided evidence of reliable sources, and a redirect would have been cleaner, but oh well. Could you please copy the page to User:KrytenKoro/Universe of The Legend of Zelda series/Items, like I several times requested? We still need to merge the info, if it can't have a separate article. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 01:16, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you can't do it soon, can you at least give me an estimate as to when it will be done? We were planning on working on the project as soon as classes ended, so we kind of need that information. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 19:15, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is pathetic

All right, what the heck? I was trying to create a page (admittedly, it probably would have been considered a stub, but it was a start), and a legitimate page it was (admittedly, about a conspiracy theory, but a legitimate conspiracy theory), but almost before I got back to look at it, it was gone! I know this was done to fast to be human, so I call it a VERY flawed system, that just deletes pages and threatens users who create them, regardless of the pages' true significance. I trust that you will get on this soon, but in the meantime, I'd very much appreciate it if you would not count these occurences as warnings, and if you would at least reestablish the page (Azerbaijan does not exist). --Aztruth (talk) 07:19, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Halsdon1.jpg

Hello Can you let me know why you removed the photosgraph from the page on Furse (surname)? I am sure you have your reasons, but I'd like to know what they are so I can avoid errors. The photograph is copyrighted, but freely available as it is watermarked. I hoped I made that clear on the delcaration page, but perhaps not. Thanks Showjumpersam (talk) 00:28, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for getting back to me, re: the photo. As it happens, that photo is no longer freely available from the website (www.beafordarts.co.uk) as it once was -- but if it being watermarked is enbough on it's own I won't argue! I had put it in as there are few of that part of the world at that time and it gives a nicer 'quick reference' for landed gentry in the westcountry.

Dragonfly CMS

Hello, before i reopen the Dragonly CMS page, i wanted to ask you why you deleted it, i need to understand, i dont wanna do something thats is not how wikipedia wants it to be, and i dont want to create an open/delete war, so please could you explain to a new wikipedia member like me why you deleted the page, Dragonfly CMS is an opensource software, so i tried to do a similar page like the one about Drupal another opensource cms, but the Dragonfly CMS page got deleted and not the Drupal page, so whats the difference, what did i do wrong? Chris963 (talk) 00:35, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, me again, you replied to me that the Dragonfly CMS page was closed AFTER a discussion about it ... my question: how do you define "after", the discussion was open since few days, the last reply to that discussion was mine, where it told the "readers" that i had fixed WP:N concerns, so why didnt you wait for the end of the discussion? (13)

Another question, as i said before, i had added the sources to the wikipedia page, the deletation review had been opened because of that, so if i fix something and there is no more reason to delete, why did you have to delete it? For example if we take a look, at the first deletation review, we clearly see that most people are in favor to keep the article, but it got deleted, so before i open one more deletation review, i want to understand why articles get closed whatever i or others say? please explain ;)
Another question i have is, as i wrote on my page, i treied to create a similar page, like the one for Drupal, both pages were almost the same, except the informations of course ;) so why do you delete the Dragonfly CMS page, and dont touch the Drupal page? Chris963 (talk) 20:47, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you ignore my messages and dont talk to me? Chris963 (talk) 15:54, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Persistent SD Tag Removal From Page

Hello, I tagged what appears to be a non-notable biography page, Krystie McCauley, for speedy deletion under db-bio; but several users have been continually removing the tag instead of following its instructions for holding onto the page. I am willing to have the page go to AfD if others view it as being notable, but I am not convinced given that the people removing the tag are an IP user and a user with no history other than the page in question. A new flavor of SALT

Hello, I'm dropping you a note because you are listed on Wikipedia:Protected titles/Specific Admin as an admin that is maintaining a personal SALT page. Recent software updates now allow deleted pages to be protected just like other pages. Please consider migrating any pages on your personal list to normal protections, and clearing them off of your list. There still may be situations where a personal list may be the best way to handle a page though. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 02:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photos

Dear Mr. East. I would like to enquire as to why did you remove the photos on Samy Vellu, Karpal Singh and Ong Ka Ting just to name a few. As far as I know, the Bahasa Melayu Wikipedia uses these picturesso far without incident. Also, I would like to point out that you might have unintentionally erased the Samy Vellu article too. I am not a master Wikipedian, so I hope you can resolve this. Thank you very much KMChin (talk) 03:27, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mr. East, thank you for your brisk reply. To be honest with you, I don't know what those pictures are licenced under. They were captured by the Malaysian Government, and people have the right to use it (in your workplace, home etc.). Under what are these photos licenced? Hi, there. You declined the request to permanent semi-protect this page. (No reason was given.) Can you advise as to what I should do next? Having to revert the same vandalism to this page every day "feels" like a revert war. Robert K S (talk) 03:46, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it's only happened once in the last week. The page was semi-protected. When the temporary semi-protection was lifted, it was back to the vandalism. Do you need a dozen more reverts before the page is semi-protected? If you look into it a bit closer, it's not a content dispute. The figure in question was an American with paternal Bulgarian ancestry. He never held a Bulgarian citizenship. His nationality was American and only American. If someone edited the lead of George W. Bush on a daily basis to assign him British (or French, or Chinese, or Armenian) nationality, is that a content dispute, or is that vandalism? If you look at the edit history, the vandal leaves no room for discussion or rationality: "I am just going to remove American and only leave Bulgarian. ... Tit for tat, from now on no more American will be included day after day!" ... "There all done, only Bulgarian to be included! When someone is plainly bieased, we too can be this way, until NPV is established. No compromises!" ... "From now on I and other Bulgarians will outright be removing 'American' as Robert K S removes 'Bulgarian'. PLain and simple, the battle will go on forever if need be!" etc. Robert K S (talk) 03:57, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A few days on this and no reply, but you didn't answer my question. What's the next step? An IP user repeatedly vandalizes the page with the declared intention to keep doing so. (A message on that IP user's talk page seems to indicate that the IP user is a sock puppet for a registered user who has made a crusade of the same edit, but I have no way of verifying that.) Both the IP user and the other user have edit histories that are limited solely to articles dealing with Bulgaria, and have talk histories indicating they have made nothing but contentious edits intended to heighten the "glory" of Bulgaria on Wikipedia (in other words, boosterism). Is there anything to do to stop the vandalism, or do I just go back to reverting every day? Robert K S (talk) 19:16, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Possible copyright confusion

Hello. Yesterday you removed the g12 speedy tag I'd placed on Bradford Colliery. I was surprised by this decision; the page I referred to makes an entirely credible claim that this is a National Coal Board document dating from 1959, which means it will still be under crown copyright (and thus not licensable under the GFDL) for another two years. The Wikipedia article is clearly a modified version of the same original text (nobody writes something like that as the first draft of an article). As a former admin with several thousand copyright deletions under my belt, I'm dead certain this should go, and I hope you'll reconsider this call. Cheers, --RobthTalk 06:08, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had an offline conversation with Dana Ullman, User:Danaullman on Wikipedia. He is evidently a well regarded expert in his field, however well or poorly that field is held in the regard of some people. In any case, he is a new user of Wikipedia and made a number of mistakes which he admits. He would like to be able to return to editing Wikipedia under some kind of mentorship but would like an unbiased person, and not one of the anti-homeopath lobby to help him learn the rules and follow them. I am making this request with his knowledge and consent but he did not ask me to do so. —Whig (talk) 01:46, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I want you to understand that it is not correct to label homeopathy as pseudoscience. Even though Yugoslavia Davis Cup team and Yugoslavia Fed Cup team both exist, the page is linking the tennis templates to the Serbian versions. Could you remedy this? Much appreciated. --Thewanderer (talk) 21:40, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted

Reverted again and I object to this one. I would like your suggestion on proceeding, and will pause for now. —Whig (talk) 01:01, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Pursuant to discussion of this, I have been accused of a personal attack on my talk page. —Whig (talk) 20:42, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you like the tone warnings on the top of that article? [15] Just wondering, I don't really have a strong preference. - cohesion 04:58, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, yeah, I should remove those faster. Sorry for the trouble. :) - cohesion 05:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Chinese deletions

Today, you deleted my page Roufous-tailed Rock Thrush (in foreign languages) despite the fact I had requested from another administrator assistance in what I consider to be the rogue undo-ing action of another wikipedia author.

I had added information that I consider valuable to the Roufous-tailed Rock Thrush page, and another user had deleted it without really any discussion whatsoever. My understanding is that Wikipedia is an open encyclopedia and that I have as much rights as any other non-administrator to add valuable information.

Because the other user Jimfbleak had deleted the information, I asked for intercession and explained the situation on the talk page. While waiting, you deleted the Roufous-tailed Rock Thrush (in foreign languages) page without addressing my concerns, discussing the action or evidently even consulting the administrator whom I had e-mailed for intercession.

I feel strongly that Jimfbleak's deletion of my information is uncalled for. If it turns out that, like Jimfbleak, the English Wikipedia is xenophobic, I would be very sad. I hope you will undo your deletion of my page and/or address the issues. Wakablogger. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wakablogger (talkcontribs)

Vandalism on the Landmark Education page

User:Spacefarer is hacking/vandalising the page to bits with no use of the discussion page. Suggesting revert to page before his chooping occurred and freezing it. Apparently there is an LE convention (Global Transformation 2020) very soon, hence the rapid edits. Anything you can do to help out would be appreciated.--Pax Arcane 17:07, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
