Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, DoomsDay349/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place helpme on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  -- ReyBrujo 02:34, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey there!

I just noticed you answered something in my Talk page. [1] Let me quickly explain you how Talk pages work. When someone wants to tell you something, he goes to your talk page and posts a new section telling you something, like:

Question
Do you know how many primary colors are? -- ~~~~

When you check the question, you are supposed to talk to his page directly. In other words, you go to the talk page of the one who asked you the question, and post the reply in a way he can easily find it, in example:

Re: Question
Yes, they are 3. -- ~~~~

If he wants to tell you something more, he will go to your talk page and write what he wants there. In other words, conversations are usually split, what he said in your talk page, what you said in the other's talk page.

Sometimes, people will ask you that they will post replies in their own page, to prevent splitting the conversation.

So, when you find a question in a user's talk page, like in my case, he has most likely answered in the other's talk page. Talk pages are somewhat like "private" messages, so unless you want to say something or someone asked you something, don't reply in third's conversations. Hope it is clear :-) -- ReyBrujo 22:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: Tanis Half-Elven Stub

Hello there. Yes, the article is mature enough. A stub means that the article gives the minimun information about the topc (in example, "Tanis Half-Elven is a fictional character in Dragonlance"), enough to answer "Who Tanis Half-Elven is?" but not enough to answer "Why Tanis Half-Elven must have its own article in Wikipedia?" -- ReyBrujo 01:51, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, DoomsDay349! I saw your article: Kith-Kanan. It is kind of confusing for me, a non-Dragonlance person, to understand it. Remember that Wikipedia is for ALL audiences! Let's work together to clean it up!

Replied on User's talk page. DoomsDay349 02:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Cheers, DoomsDay349! I'm glad to see that you are contributing on a subject that Wikipedia doesn't have much of! Anyway, replying your message, it doesn't make enough hyperlinks to other Wikipedia articles. If you could contribute some of your valuable time to making articles related to Kith-Kanan, it would be great! Also, if you could provide more background, it would be a superior article. Hope to see you around!
RelentlessRouge 02:05, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Hello once again, DoomsDay349. About your message to me about "what does background mean?", I'll give the following examples: What's a griffin? What's an elf? Those kinds of things. Let's work together!
RelentlessRouge 02:11, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Alright! That's the spirit! If you need help, go to this page or the associated talk page. I'm sorry if I sound dumb asking those questions on what undoubtedly for you are basic vocab questions, but once again, Wikipedia is meant for a general audience. Good luck, and have fun!
RelentlessRouge 02:16, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Michael Marcantel

On that article, I just created it this second, and that's really all the information I can find at the moment, so no I'm not planning on expanding at the moment, but I hope to be able to come upon some soon. Registered user 92 (talk · contribs)

Silveran Kanan

Hello - sorry I didn't respond any sooner, I've been away from my computer.

Originally the Silveran Kanan article needed a more thorough introduction, but it seems since I placed that tag on the article you've pretty much taken care of this. The only thing I recommend adding at this point would be the author of the series - perhaps make it read "...the fictional series of Dragonlance novels, written by <x>". Good job! --AbsolutDan (talk) 02:35, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Dragonlance image

This is just a heads up that if you're going to upload any dragonlance images, please place them in the or the . Thanks. ddcc 01:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

New Dragonlance pages

Also, please remember to categorize your new dragonlance character page with the , or else it's hard for other people to find and contribute to your article. ddcc 02:50, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, sorry I didn't reply earlier! Somehow, my computer didn't alert me that I had a new message, so... anyway, I've looked them over, and they look much better! Great job! A few thigns that could be tweaked:

1. In the K.K.S. article, could you explain the countries a bit more in addition to using Wikilinks?

2. In the S.o.t.S. article, is it a position, a person? How do you get the position, if it is a position?

Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

RelentlessRouge 15:35, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi, DoomsDay349! Cheers! Very nice userboxes... =)

Anyway, I looked through the two above articles. I really don't have much time right this minute, but...

1. What is a diety? Is it a god or something? I mean, I know what the definition is, but others might not. Please explain it in greater detail.

2. Great job on the Paladine page! You could make it even better by explaining what an avatar is instead of just Wikilinking it!

Cheers!

RelentlessRouge 11:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

I didn't add the stub designator on the Paladine article. Good job, and keep it up. I'll try to review the other articles when I have time. Great job overall on the Dragonlance articles!
Excellent job!

Re: I'm not sure how to handle this

Geez, what bunch of nonsense. Note that in the second edit in the history the article was prodded, [2] which was later removed without comment. [3] When the prod is removed, you need to take the article to WP:AFD. Include what the user who made the prod wrote, state that it was removed without comment, and add that Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day. Also, note that Googling for the names and the game name gives no significant results. -- ReyBrujo 18:38, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Also, note that no article links to it. [4] -- ReyBrujo 18:40, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Try to be bold and follow the instructions that appear here. I will correct if you make a mistake. -- ReyBrujo 18:40, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Good. Some things: 1. When you want to wikilink a user, use the user template; 2. Note that when sending fan-made articles to deletion you may get those fans to post offensive comments at your page; and 3. If you have doubts about if an article should be deleted, prod it. If the article has already been prod'ed, send it to AFD. -- ReyBrujo 19:17, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Now there will be a discussion for a week or so, depending if the consensus is too big to either delete or keep. People will come, read your argument, check the article, and "vote" with Delete or Keep, sometimes adding modifiers like Weak or Strong, explaining why they think that way. You should keep both the article and the votation page in your Watchlist, sometimes editors of the article will delete the AFD tag, and you should restore it. Others may ask you questions in the AFD page, you should reply to them. After a week or so an administrator will review the discussion and determine if the article should be deleted. -- ReyBrujo 19:40, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Seems the article was speedied, that is good, saves a lot of time. One last thing (again): When you send something to AFD, you don't usually "vote", that is, you don't put Delete in your statement, nor "vote" after the AFD started, otherwise people will think you are taking the AFD process as a votation, which is not. -- ReyBrujo 00:46, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Reybrujo's Draognlance tasklist

I've noticed you're using Reybrujo's tasklist, can you mark the articles that you've changed/fixed to done, or missing image so that it's easier for the rest of us? ddcc 04:25, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

How's it going, man?

Hello, DoomsDay349! Long time no see! If you need any help on Dragonlance articles, just pop me a message at user talk: RelentlessRouge. Thanks!

Cheers!

RelentlessRouge 11:49, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey, what's up, DoomsDay349! I've looked over the aforementioned article. I think that a number of changes would help make it a very nice article!

1. What are all the locations described in Early Life? Where? What are their importances? Is there a map to show where she's travelled?

2. Who is she? Physical descriptions? A picture? A picture would be nice.

3. Too many subcategories. Merge them just into a single article with no sections. That'd be nice. A subsection with only a few sentences isn't that good.

4. The middle and ending sections were very confusing.

I hope that my comments will help to guide you in making Mina (Dragonlance) a better article!

Cheers!

RelentlessRouge 01:31, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

P.S.: And thanks about my signiature. I can help you out with yours, too. =)

Thanks for the equick reply! Lol about the picture. I'll try a Google search. I'll be kidna busy, so maybe I'll take a diety a week. Maybe.
Cheers!

Re: Infobox

Hello! For now I believe we should wait some. Currently there is a discussion about infoboxes, and based on the consensus, we will change the infoboxes, create or delete them. -- ReyBrujo 17:55, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: References

First, you need to create the reference. To do it, use Note that "somename" is a unique name. If you are going to use the same reference twice (in example, the same page can be used as source in two different statements), the first time create the reference, and the second just use it as

To create the reference itself, you need to use the cite web or cite book template inside the reference. To quote a book, use cite book, to quote a web pate use cite web. In example, if you want to reference a URL, use It is similar with the one for books. Just check the cite templates to see the arguments.

Finally, you need to create a References section with the following text to make them appear:

<div class="references-small"> <references /> </div>

Only the <references /> is needed, but the DIV makes the references smaller so that more can fit in the article. I hope that helps. -- ReyBrujo 02:10, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: 8-bit Theater

I'm not having any problems viewing the site, no. -The Splendiferous Gegiford 17:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Dragons of Autumn Twilight

You should not just slap a completely new article into another. As you finish sections here, put them there. Otherwise, people who had been working in the article would just someday find all their contributions gone, and since you will just copy a version, there will be no change history in the main article. -- ReyBrujo 05:48, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I will see if I can check that later. I am right now focusing on an article about a MUD, and hopefully finishing reading the Annotated Chronicles. I add notes from time to time when I find something very interesting, but for now I am trying to limit my work on DL articles to prevent burning myself out. -- ReyBrujo 01:42, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Problem

Hey there. Are you still having that problem? I can access your user page without problem. However, as the images may be stored in a different server, if the server is down, your page may not show correctly or not at all (happened a couple of times when the server that stored the archive icon went down, and trying to access a talk page would time out). If that happens, and really bothers you, you can try accessing the history of your user page, and trying a previous version, until you are able to see the user page.

Sometimes, however, the Wikipedia servers are just too busy. I almost never edit at nights because the server is extremely slow for me (usually taking 15-20 seconds to go to a new page, and most times getting a time out when trying to save a page). Growing pains, I would say. Just in case, don't worry, your user page did not break Wikipedia ;-) -- ReyBrujo 18:41, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Your edit to Calnar

Your recent edit to Calnar (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Click here for frequently asked questions about the bot and this warning. // AntiVandalBot 22:13, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Just putting this down for the record, the edit to Calnar was not vandalism, it was an honest mistake. I meant to put a redirect there, but accidently just blanked the page. DoomsDay349 06:03, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Empire of Ergoth

Since you've done such a wonderful job on Lists of Ergothian Emperors, could you update the Empire of Ergoth template to reflect those changes? ddcc 02:29, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Apparently the only way for it to work is the way you're using right now; using the template to link to a page, and then have the page redirect to the list, however, redirects cannot handle anchors, so either way it won't work very well. ddcc 17:16, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Confusion

The full quote is:

Wikipedia has its own fair use criteria, which is much stricter than the US law. This is to both minimize non-free content, and to comply with the law (in example, if the law says only 18 years old or older can write in wikis, but Wikipedia requests you to have 21, the rules is stricter and, thus, probably "safer").

That was an example to clarify that, while US laws are strict, Wikipedia uses stricter rules to be sure to fall within US laws. -- ReyBrujo 01:33, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

No, there are people from all ages contributing to Wikipedia. We even have bureaucrats that are under that age. That was an extreme example intended to explain that any restriction Wikipedia imposes will usually be tighter than US law. You don't need to be of a determined age to contribute, so don't worry. -- ReyBrujo 20:26, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Signature Customization

Hi there, sorry for the late reply. You can find information about signatures here, and how to customize them here. You can use HTML to set colors and fonts, but remember to keep your full signature shorter than 200 characters, which is usually when signatures begin to become a nuisanse. -- ReyBrujo 18:32, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't customize my signature, so I don't know exactly what it does. You should begin trying out some tests. Write something, sign, change your preferences, sign again, change your preferences again, sign again, etc, until you get your signature right. I believe you don't need to check that, otherwise it would have been checked by default. -- ReyBrujo 20:30, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Try Font color:
<span style="color:blue;">DoomsDay349</span> <font color="green">(talk)</font> gives DoomsDay349 (talk)
<font color="#777777">Dooms</font><font color="#888888">Day</font><font color="#999999">349</font> gives DoomsDay349
<font face="Comic Sans MS">DoomsDay349(talk)</font> gives DoomsDay349(talk)
Google around for more HTML information about FONT, and you may come up with some interesting stuff. -- ReyBrujo 20:52, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Note that when you are in your talk page, any link to your talk page is bolded. That is, in this talk page, User talk:DoomsDay349 is bold and not linked. When you are in any other page, it looks like User talk:ReyBrujo. That is on purpose (if you see the navigation templates, when you are in the article AAA, the item AAA in the template is bold and without link). White is an awful color, especially because most have white as background color (in other words, an invisible signature, which is awful). And I don't understand the part about the parentheses... -- ReyBrujo 21:05, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Red is also an awful color, because it indicates the page does not exist. So, anyone seeing your talk page link in red will think you have never had a message in your talk page, or that someone deleted your page. -- ReyBrujo 21:07, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
That is because it is an hyperlink. You would need extreme black magic to hide the hyperlink too, and I suggest not doing so, because it may bring problems (white foreground on white background is not useful, so they will ask you to use black or another color). -- ReyBrujo 21:32, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Quick test. DoomsDay (talk) 21:34, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
As I told you in my first reply, don't use more than 200 characters. Yours have almost 250 right now. I suggest removing the Contributions part, as nobody ever clicks that. -- ReyBrujo 00:34, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, DoomsDay349, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Userpage Content.

I wasn't aware I was limited in what I could could put on my userpage.. I've changed it to co-incide with what rules could apply. Any swearing (though I don't think I could find any), has been removed, 'hate' (which is the word that should have been used, because I really do 'dislike' those things with a passion) has been changed to 'dislike'.

I apologize if you were offended. - Moe 01:05, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Defined Task List

Because you're here, I'm proposing that perhaps we should set out a clear and concise 'To-Do' list, for any of those (like me), who are unsure which articles require the most work, fixing, etc, etc.

Something along the Star Trek Project lines perhaps..?

Template:StarTrektasks

- Moe 01:13, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

To be honest, I didn't even know that the list existed! Haha.. to make things a bit easier, do you use MSN Messenger? - Moe 01:35, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Doesn't matter about Messenger :P Perhaps.. we should select a few articles at a time, and create a miniture 'to-do' list. For example, (it might be already done, I just haven't checked), The Graygem of Gargath, we could set up a table which stated which parts needed to be completed in relation to it.. Origin, History, Current Location, etc, etc.. It should (hopefully), get articles completed up to the point where they contain most relevent information about them. - Moe 01:42, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use in portals

As you might know, we've had problems with the use of fair use images in portals, and so, after debate on the talk page of Wikipedia: Fair use, I've created an amendment for fair use in portals, see here: Wikipedia:Fair use/Amendment/Fair use images in portals#Also. It would be great if you could express your support. ddcc 21:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Emergency Drill

I will be conducting a drill in a few minutes (see the WikiArmy section I just added). I invite you to oversee the drill and comment on the army for our various procedures.--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 14:47, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

We may have a potential enemy in our hands. [5] -EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 15:27, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
We have enough information to form a military procedure based on my drill scenarios. Do you think we can terminate drills early?--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 03:12, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
You know...we have a POW in our hands!!!--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 02:14, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

I looked at the file history. Our POW volunteered himself.--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 02:21, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:Image Request

Unfortunately, I've already returned Art of the Dragonlance Saga and Masters of Dragonlance Art. There aren't a lot of god pictures in there, but I'll try to address each. Mina/Chemosh definitely aren't in either since they're too new, only covers have them. Paladine... there is a uploaded picture of Fizban. Habbakuk/Mishakal don't think I've seen those, nor have I seen Ionthas. There is a book about Reorx in his human form (I think an Age of Mortals book... or a short story book), except for those two possibilities, don't think so. There are dragons in the artbooks, but the pictures aren't labeled with the exact dragon. You could look through some of the dragon pictures we have and call some of them Sable, Beryl, etc. Sable is on a cover of a book about Dhamon Grimwuylf (I think). There were draconian pictures, but black+white. The cover of Draconian Measures, which is uploaded has draconians, as well as the picture of Laurana being guarded by two draconians with Takhisis in the background. Aside from those, try googling? Sorry if it's not much, but that's all I can think of at the moment. ddcc 14:40, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Send me a list of what you need, and I will see if I can point you towards the right book. Otherwise, I suggest also finding art websites, search those sites and see what people have created and then ask for permission to use them. That is the only other suggestion I can give, but don't know if that is allowable. Don't know all the rules around here.--Kranar drogin 02:23, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Slow responding

I've been working on my Photography presentation all day, am bone tired, and not even half done. I'm presenting tomorrow. I'm trying to stay away from here until I'm done (I was supposed to work on this over the weekend but Wikipedia took over), which is why I'm taking so long. Usually I'm faster! You've just caught me at bad times. — Editor at Large(speak) 02:36, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Quite alright. Sorry if I sound grumpy. I don't mean to be! :-D — Editor at Large(speak) 02:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:Reverted some vandalism on your userpage

Thanks a lot, I missed those :) I didn't know I could request a user page protection. That might be an idea, indeed. -- lucasbfr talk 21:28, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Newbie

Hi,D-Day...know me? In case you don't know,I am the one whom you replied to that day, regarding Wikiproject Dragonlance. I just....well,just wanna know you and all that...anyway,your user page is real neat! Not just neat, its impressive! I got your cat picture. I'll post it up in my user page, hope you'll like it! Anyway,I like your signature too...I dunno anything about decoration stuff...you should take a look at my user page, you can practically hear your echo there...(its nearly empty). How did you post those logos there? The ones about Taco bell,pirate,Mcdonald,etc,etc...?If you can help me with them,I'd appreciate it.Thanks again and goodbye for now! Zachary crimsonwolf 13:11, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey

Welcome back, pal. Hope you got things sorted out or whatever you went on break for.--SUIT42 01:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Me too! BTW I conducted another drill. ;) EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 01:51, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
I noticed. You see, while you were on WikiBreak, our WikiInventors developed a new system in which high executive officials can keep up with changes and "spy" on other places and people. This function can be accessed at this page. It is a great tool, and we can now watch everything.--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 01:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Hello again

For some reason, your talk page seems to be littered with unconstructive comments and adverts mostly by IPs. You do know that you can remove these? Also, I'm curious as to why you're a target for such vandalism? Do you edit a controversial area of Wikipedia? I'm just curious. DoomsDay349 02:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I know, I prefer keeping all of them as long as it's not page blanking, that makes me feel important :D. I do a lot of RC patrolling , especially when the kiddies are out. Some like less than others being reverted :) -- lucasbfr talk 02:48, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I saw the predicament that we have now. I will be warning Her Majesty E@L and evacuating her. Anyway, I have the military procedure here: User:Ed/WikiPlomacy.--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 00:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Do not worry, Ed, we've struck up a compramise. Our nations willsoon be a Galactic Empire.--SUIT42 01:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[7] Doomsday349, I, General Ed of the WikiArmy, hereby put you under arrest for treason against Her Majesty Editor at Large. You have the right to not remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of biased martial law. You have the right to speak to an unreliable attorney, and to have a disruptive attorney present during any illegal questioning. If you cannot afford a dishonest lawyer, one will be provided for you at Jimbo Wales's expense.--EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 01:06, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

So, you managed to get embroiled in a war! Congratulations, but might I remind you that you were only the General of the Army and I am Queen? How exactly did you manage to escape with half the country all by yourself? None of the other officers helped in any way. — Editor at Large(speak) 01:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I see. All the people we never saw or heard about... and the soldiers we never heard about... Well, Doomsday, prepare yourself for a trial within the next week. You have to answer for your crimes. — Editor at Large(speak) 02:03, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I formed the peace negotiations. You HAVE to go to trial, but your punishment will NEVER go as far as imprisonment. Also check out my Alliance proposal. =) EdI'm lonely, talk to me contribs 00:54, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Maybe...I might make my own country tomorrow and see how that goes. If I do decide to join your nation, though, I'd make one heck of a Colonel! Best of luck to you and your nation. // Sasuke-kun27 02:03, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Taking over section. Umm... browsing while doing work, yes; time to really edit, no. Seriously, I've got a real trial going on and somebody's going to get away with murder (literally) if I don't get my work done.
