Tosh.0 Vandalism

Thanks, but I'd prefer to leave my talk page open to vandalism. No harm done if it's on a talk page, right? 8bit (talk) 05:39, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I came acros this at around the same time you did. I thought about it for a few seconds, because I knew there was no way that was some random combination of letters. I ran it through a computer app, and I figured out that if you move every letter one to the right (I to H, j to i), it spells out "Hitler's penis". Please block this guy. There were 26 accounts in total, listed here with their target articles (for some), if you're interested. It's strange what people do for lulz! -- Flyguy649 talk 16:25, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

It's hard to figure what causes vandals to zero in on particular articles. I want to mention that my double-revert was due to an assumption that the IP's mass deletion was vandalism. Actually, he was removing vandalism, and I managed to put it back. Hence reverting myself. I had best not do that in the future. :( Given all the recent messing-around with the article, I was not entirely sure what the last good version was, but I think you've pretty much got it. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:46, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

No problem, you caught yourself and immediately fixed it. My edit was essentially meaningless :) --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:49, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
I wasn't actually sure why you were changing the caps setting on "reflist", but I assumed you knew what you were doing. Or possibly trying to fix my "fix", except I beat you to it. :) P.S. I recall seeing the wienermobile back when I was a kid, long ago. It was a hoot. The TV ads had a little guy, maybe Billy Curtis. Good stuff. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:53, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
It was the second thing. I was busy hunting for the right revision, but I failed to notice you had fixed it yourself before making my edit. Good work by you, bad work by me. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:01, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
No harm done anywhere. I think the vandals have been thwarted. But I'll be more careful with rollback in the future. No hot-dogging. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 07:04, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Paige Hurd

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Paige Hurd. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paige Hurd. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for unblocking me. Stt13 (talk) 16:41, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Bongwarrior.

I'm having a problem right now with an editor there over edits made in the last 11 hours. I kept some of his/her changes in three reverts I've made. But the user removed sources from the lead, a section that I worked to source completely in recent weeks. I wrote to him/her ([1]) re: these issues and asking them to explain the changes, but received no response. I'm thinking of reverting again, but that would be my fourth revert, and I don't want to break 3RR. I'd like to know if my reverting in order to restore the sources would be exempt from 3RR. The user has been editing anonymously and also signed in as User:Therock40756, and I left a link to the abovementioned message and asked them to self-revert (to no avail, of course). Please take a look, Bongwarrior. Thank you. SamEV (talk) 05:56, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

I'd leave it alone for now. I wouldn't consider any further reverts to be exempt - very few things are. It looks like AnomieBOT has restored the refs that were removed because they were being used elsewhere in the article, so the changes as of right now ([2]) look pretty minor to me. You're doing the right thing by trying to talk to them about it, so stay on that track for a while. There's not much that I can do about it at this point from an administrative standpoint, but I'm pretty hopeful that if you keep trying to communicate, this will resolve itself pretty quickly. Hope this helps, take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:18, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
The bot did not restore the three refs at the end of the first paragraph in the lead.
And since all but a couple of the other changes are still bad, even if they're not as egregious as the removal of sources, in my opinion, and are still unexplained: what reason is there for me to let his/her version stand? And again, the user is not new, s/he's just choosing to be difficult.
So I can't promise that I won't revert tomorrow, since the burden is on him/her to explain, which they refuse to do.
Please ask him/her to discuss, too. I think it would help keep this from getting worse. Thanks. SamEV (talk) 06:49, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, Bongwarrior, the response from the user was yet another revert: [3]. No discussion, not even a custom edit summary. SamEV (talk) 04:21, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, he doesn't seem to want to talk about it. I'll try to keep an eye on the situation. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:44, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Fight Fire With Fire

Hello Bongwarrior, this is a message from an automated bot to inform you that the page you created, Fight Fire With Fire, has been marked for speedy deletion by User:Allen4names. This has been done because the page is a foreign language article which has essentially the same content as an article on another Wikimedia project (see CSD). If you think the tag was placed in error, please add "{{hangon}}" to the page text, and edit the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. If you have a question about this bot, please ask it at User talk:SDPatrolBot II. If you have a question for the user who tagged the article, see User talk:Allen4names. Unprotected images on the main page

Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Wikipedia when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.

Example

Whack!
The above is a WikiTrout (Oncorhynchus macrowikipediensis), used to make subtle adjustments to the clue levels of experienced Wikipedians.
To whack a user with a wet trout, simply place {{trout}} on their talk page.

for letting File:Polistes sp wasp.jpg sit on the main page unprotected for 27 minutes. βcommand 01:51, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

It was cascade protected here. Was it unprotected the whole time on Commons then? I'll try to be more careful. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:07, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
cascade protection only affects images that are hosted on en.wp. if its on commons it does nothing. βcommand 22:50, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Firewalking

I did leave a reason in the edit page, I dont know why it didnt appear. The picture in question that I removed from the firewalking page is only shows one aspect of firewalking, a festival that happens once a year without adhering to any safety guidelines. It does not represent firewalking worldwide. Also carrying a child is dangerous and the child is too young to consent to be carried. I will continue to remove the picture if it re-appears —Preceding unsigned comment added by Humanliedetector (talkcontribs) 18:48, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Fair enough. I accept your reasoning, but if someone else comes along and restores the image, it would be wise not to edit war over it. Just talk about it, as you've done here. While you may say that the image isn't representative, another user may contend that it is, as well as being a free image in an article that currently has none. --Bongwarrior (talk) 19:16, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Conclusively, I apologize immensely to Wikipedia and all who use it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.161.212.230 (talk) 22:06, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Hiya

Hey, BongWarrior. I did not block the IP after reverting this edit. I'm too new at this and didn't wanna overstep. I wanted you to know in the event you thought further action was necessary. See ya 'round Tiderolls 07:18, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Why didn't you block? If you didn't think a block was warranted, that's one thing. If you didn't block because you thought you'd be stepping on my toes, well funk that :) --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:25, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
HA! I didn't wanna intrude, that's part of it. I don't think the user is here to be constructive, but I feel too inexperienced at this point to make that call. At present, I'm limiting my blocks to the most egregious (yes, i had to look that one up) situations. Tiderolls 07:30, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
It's probably best to start off slow, but there's not much to it. Based on your previous work, you'll be just fine. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Block of User:LiNaK37

I could find only one instance of vandalism under this user's name. Indef block (or any block) seems a bit harsh. Would you be willing to reverse your decision? -RunningOnBrains(talk) 05:17, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, no chance. Either the racial epithet or the Tosh vandalism would deserve a block. This editor is guilty of both. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:32, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Re this edit - point of order, but you have PRODded it before, which was removed by an IP editor. Whatever that editor's motives, it counts as a WP:CONTESTED prod, so it can't be re-PRODded, but must go to WP:AFD. Incidentally, if it does go to AfD, I shan't object to its deletion. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:55, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

It's a BLP PROD, or "sticky" PROD, and the rules are a little different than regular PRODs. It can only be removed after at least one reliable source has been added. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:25, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Sigh

When did Wiki become so over the top, the edits I made hurt no one. Really, who in their right mind would look those two things up unless thinking it was Justin Bieber. It's not like I was saying Hitler killed the German's, or Wiki was made by robots. Everyone needs fun in their life, and they won't find it here, hence why this website is failing. Omnomnombeans (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:14, 14 June 2010 (UTC).

  • Hi, please take a look at the article isn't it look like an advertisement?I had put tag to propose deletion two times, so that administrator can review it.but the author deleted it twice. Please give reply.$Max Viwe$ (talk) 17:51, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
I don't consider that an advertisement. Also, please remember that PROD is a one-shot deal. Anyone, even the article's creator, is allowed to contest it. After an unsuccessful PROD, any further attempts at deletion should be made through AfD. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 18:23, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Vandal alert

Sorry to disturb you, but can you block 114.57.231.167 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log). The address is being used by an Indonesian misinformation vandal whose MO is by constantly inserting misinformation into Digimon, movie studio, and American TV station articles and other related articles without a source. His current MO includes connecting Little League with several affiliate Televisa stations. Please act ASAP. Thank you. (I've already tried WP:AIV. Gillard

I'm a bit confused by your change in protection. Three IP editors vandalised, and none of it went up. From what I can tell, the pending-changes system was working well. -Rrius (talk) 08:36, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

It was working in the sense that it was preventing vandalism from reaching the article. It was failing in the sense that editors still have to revert the vandalism, and there was entirely too much of it going on. Pending changes shouldn't be a replacement for regular protection methods, but it seems to be used that way in a lot of these trials. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:45, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Rrius, I was the editor who requested protection. Gillard became the PM on June 24. The page became a spam target on June 24. The PC as noted was doing its job, but there was too much of it and thus the need for semi-protection. I felt the request was justified. =)
It'll be cleared in a month and we can return it to PC to see if it's still a spam target, or if it's able to stay on PC for the other month of trial. If we still get spam hits on it, I'm afraid it might need to stay SPed. CycloneGU (talk) 22:12, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Per my addendum suggestion on the requests page, wherefrom Off On A Tangent and another variation are blocked from creation...it might not hurt to block this variation as well. Right now I can create that one if I wanted to, and someone else may intentionally do so. CycloneGU (talk) 22:12, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm inclined to let this one slide. They haven't tried to use this variation yet, and it's not certain if they ever will. They may have given up, or it simply might not occur to them to try this particular letter combination. Although an article at that exact title was created and eventually deleted, it appears to be completely unrelated to the recent "hip hop sensation/boy band" articles. It's not that I think that protecting the title would be the wrong decision here; it's mostly a matter of opinion. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:11, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Tip

Hey, I just wanted to let you know those are all proxies. 216.169.96.0/19 and 81.94.192.0/20 will block them. PS: I use robtex to find this out. You can also use this tool to find a better rangeblock. --Bsadowski1 06:47, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. I don't usually do range blocks. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:55, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Why do you block users with "offensive" names when yours is also offensive?

Your name is offensive to me. Perhaps you should be blocked because of it?

No?

Well why do you block others when their names are less offensive than yours? 130.56.93.43 (talk) 11:15, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Could you take a look at 96.241.238.23's edits to Hibbing, Minnesota. I'm tempted to roll them all back but i don't trust twinkle with that many reverts. I don't know how much of the info is good but he's turned the section into a joke, If it does get nuked it would look better if an admin did it. Thank you, Weetoddid (talk) 06:02, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

I've manually removed the redlinks and done some other trimming. I don't think the IP means any harm, they just seem to be sort of new. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:17, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Offensive username

Like the last poster, I also find your name to be offensive, leading to my past vandalism of the page. So if you have a username promoting use of illegal drugs, what gives? Is this hypocrisy or something? BenderRobot (talk) 22:19, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

It may seem crazy, but the general consensus in several scattered discussions has been that my choice of username doesn't run afoul of the username policy. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:53, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Bongwarrior, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it it promotes the use of marijuana, which is illegal in Florida. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you.   — Jeff G. ツ 00:32, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Wow, this would be funny if it weren't so sad. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 00:39, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Jeff, but I respectfully decline to seek a username change, for the reason that if my username was a violation, it wouldn't have survived four years and two RFCN discussions. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:53, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Good lord. Speeding is illegal; would "tiresquealer" be offensive? Also, bongs are used for tobacco, which is still legal in every U.S. state (for now), and bongs are routinely sold legally (for tobacco purposes only) throughout the U.S. I realize these people are trolls and all, but can't they find something less idiot to troll about? -Rrius (talk) 08:34, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Edit war between User talk:202.156.14.100 and User talk:202.156.14.101

You're right, they appear to be battling eachother, and while I thought I saw indication that one of them was more correct than the other, it's hard to say, and the fact that they're so close together makes it even harder to distinguish. If two people are 1 bit away from eachother in an organization, and have done this for moths, what are the odds that either is unknowing about the other. I just find this whole back and forth between the two absurd. I wouldn't say that if they were within the same /16 or /24 range, but this is literally 1 bit apart. Seems a little coincidental. Shadowjams (talk) 07:23, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Oh, it's more than coincidental, I'd be willing to wager. The AGF side of me is willing to believe that this is two people sitting next to each other in a computer lab or something, one with good intentions, the other one not so much. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:32, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Of course. Ugh... maybe an internet cafe. Without going in depth I don't see any extreme correlation between the two, except what is obvious from what was discussed before. Shadowjams (talk) 08:13, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Incoherent ramblings of my own

I deeply would appreciate it if you let me write about Myles Kelly as he is a sort of hero at our school for saving another child from possible death from a fit, Myles plaed him in the recovery position when no one else was there and he rang an ambulance. I am writing this article because my principal and teacher asked me to, and though this page may mean nothing to you or many other web users, it means a lot to our school and myles' family that his act of heroism does not go unrecognised. Owler69 (talk) 15:43, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

The article I deleted didn't mention any of that. All the same, while this individual sounds like a nice person, he doesn't appear to be notable yet. For the time being, it might be best to work on a draft of the article at your userpage. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 15:50, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Difficult revert

I know I should just take care of it, but the edit summary for this diff [5] highlights the need for someone more diplomatic than I. Could you deal with this? Thanks. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 17:00, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Some of the additions are probably good, albeit overly-detailed. Some sort of manual trimming should certainly be done. The larger question is whether the article should even exist. I've always thought middle school articles should be redirected to the relevant school district article, barring any sort of notability besides simply being a middle school. --Bongwarrior (talk) 17:18, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. In the mean time, I've added a couple of tags that will notify the WP:SCHOOLS experts. I forget about the useful special-interest editor groups sometimes. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 17:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

The editing style matched a certain user or group of users that have been a slight nuisance over the years. Such users are always subject to an immediate block when I encounter them, and I believe this to be common practice with other administrators as well. --Bongwarrior (talk) 20:28, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Question.....

Good evening! :D I've been working on a part for an article and unfortunately myself and another author might have gotten a little ahead of ourselves in the midst of a disagreement. Particularly I think I might have goofed a bit. I'm trying to figure out if I should wait for someone to tell me I'm clear so I don't find myself blocked, or if I should simply refrain from reverting anymore for the time being? I would greatly appreciate your opinion. Thanks, -AmaraielSend Message 02:14, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't worry about being blocked, but I'd still advise you to refrain from re-adding it for now. I've taken the liberty of reverting to the most recent "sane" version, which (incidentally) omits your addition and the recently-added Flock of Seagulls album. I have no problem with adding either of these back to the article, but I think it's best to let the situation settle for now. --Bongwarrior (talk) 03:13, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Bongwarrior. Just a "heads up" I added some info to the Phillips entry, trying to present the whole Cards-Reds controversy in an acceptable neutral form with accompanying reference. Since it made national sports news for a couple days I figured it was worthy of inclusion in the article, but after looking through the recent article history (vandalism & POV problems) I can see why you changed the entry protection status. Hi Wikiblizia. My best advice to you would be to have a good look at WP:RS, and try to add as many good ones pertaining to the band as you can find. The relevant notability guideline for musicians is WP:MUSIC. Having released only one EP, I don't think that this band qualifies, although I'm not as up to date on the Malaysian music scene as I probably should be. Good luck. --Bongwarrior (talk) 17:12, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi BW,
Just a note: I think you'll find that the Margaret Ayers the article refers to is a real person.
--Shirt58 (talk) 10:01, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm aware. But because the article's history consists entirely of various levels of BS, I don't think any of it can be trusted. --Bongwarrior (talk) 12:13, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
My apologies - it of course goes without saying that you were aware of the actual person. That said, yep, I agree that the article should be deleted. It would appear that apparent SPAs like 52zz1314 and Tilitis182 have declared a much darker kind of shenanigans on Dr Ayers' article. While there are bits that could be salvaged, there's simply no "best last edit" to rolllback or revert to.--Shirt58 (talk) 14:26, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Just to let you know you have informed me that my revision to an article was not constructive, if you check the revision history it was my article revision that you reverted back to. You may wish to inform the correct person of their improper use of editing

Blocked user

Hi. A user you blocked recently, GuidodB, complained to me on IRC that you don't seem to have seen his message on his user talk page, so I'm just relaying the request to look at it. Cheers --Filip (§) 11:38, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll have a look. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:53, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

You recently protected this page to stop an edit war (which I confess I was involved in). Could you please also protect Template:Contents pages (header bar) and Template:Contents pages (footer box) for the same reason - Highfields (talk, contribs) 12:24, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good, done. --Bongwarrior (talk) 21:53, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
The link to one of the portal's subpages is missing. The consensus on the talk page is to keep the subpage listed - that is, there is no consensus established to remove it from the portal's main page. The essence of the edit war is that (Verbal) is ignoring multiple editors opposing his edits. Verbal's argument that the link didn't get discussed by the wider community when the page was created is invalid, since the link was added when the page was created, along with all the other initial links years ago. Though the page linked to had a different name back then. All of this is explained on the talk page. Please revert Portal:Contents to the last edit by Highfields, to reflect the current consensus on the talk page. Thank you. The Transhumanist 21:46, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, no can do. Although I can emphasize with what you are saying - heck, I might even agree with it - I don't think it would be a good idea for me to start choosing sides after having protected it. Wikipedia won't crumble if The Wrong Version™ is displayed for a short time while this thing hopefully cools down. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:56, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
What is the procedure for having the consensus on the talk page implemented? The Transhumanist 00:36, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Not sure exactly. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:08, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Since the page is protected, it definitely involves an admin. And as an admin, would you find out please? The Transhumanist 07:29, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
This would be my best guess, although I'm not sure that this particular situation would be uncontroversial enough to qualify. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:37, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
I think I found it. See Wikipedia:Protection policy. It says "Changes to a fully protected page should be proposed on the corresponding talk page, and carried out if they are uncontroversial or if there is consensus for them." We have consensus: Verbal has been clearly outvoted. He has been unilaterally defying everybody on that page. His argument is that no consensus was established before the link was added (it was added 5 years ago when the page was first created) and therefore he can ignore all votes against him. An admin needs to go to the talk page and interpret the current consensus. Please do so. See also Wikipedia:Protection policy#Content disputes. The Transhumanist 08:04, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm not going to change it. My best advice would be to wait for the protection to be lifted. If you can't wait that long, I've already suggested one alternative. --Bongwarrior (talk) 08:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
The page protection is indefinite, so we can't just wait! However, TT is oversimplifying (why must everyone oversimplify?!?!) because at the very least, Fram, Arthur Rubin, and Karanacs, all believe that more discussion is necessary. (If i remember correctly - The issue is just giving me a headache this week, so I haven't checked what exactly they all said). Mutter. (Thanks for helping to stop the slowmo editwar though, Bongwarrior :) -- Quiddity (talk) 18:40, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
The protection is set at indefinite, but it was never intended to stay indefinite. I'll remove it when a suitable period of time has elapsed. --Bongwarrior (talk) 18:46, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Discussion on the talk page is underway on a specific proposal, and should resolve the issue one way or the other within the next few days. Thank you for freezing the conflict in the meantime. The Transhumanist 09:00, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Robert Schimmel

Are there some reliable reports here, AP are reporting it and quoting the subjects spokesperson, looks strong enough to me, what do you think about dropping the protection to semi? Off2riorob (talk) 14:27, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

No objections, of course. That was the plan all along. --Bongwarrior (talk) 18:42, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of important article

you recently deleted my page DesecrationCrew, which was a page that i really needed. it was nominated for speedy deletion uner A7 (no indication of importance). i am a member of the group the article was about and i made the article to help us. i made it rather quickly, so i didnt put much information in the article, but i had the full intention of coming back and writing much more on the topic. could you please do what is in your power to let me have that page back and next time, i think it would be much betterif you warned someone before deleting a page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Personhiyastuff (talkcontribs) 02:23, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi. It seems another admin has already declined your request. If you are still interested, let me know and I'll see about emailing you a copy. --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:34, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

pea's formula of mathamatics

why did you delete this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.137.208 (talk) 18:21, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

It didn't appear to be a particularly noteworthy formula. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:38, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

An article

Hi, I have an article that talks about Darian Smith Jr. It has been previously deleted and I created a new one and I just wanted to let you know that it is referring to the previous one. This time I put {{hangon}}, and I am now going to add a description on why I think it shouldn't be deleted. Thanks

Block duration

User: 212.85.5.19 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

I believe you blocked this IP for an incorrect duration of time. This IP has been blocked 7 times with the latest one being 2 months, but you only blocked for the 31 hours. Thanks, Stickee (talk) 10:20, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

You are right that the duration was a mistake. I had blocked before I noticed the extensive block log. But after closer inspection, I decided that it wasn't a mistake worth fixing. The most recent block was a year ago, with zero edits from that time until today. A short block may (or may not) have the same effect as a longer one. --Bongwarrior (talk) 10:27, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, for some reason it did not come up that you had already protected the article (I probably opened the page before you set the protection). I didn't intend to change your settings. Thanks for the quick action, I can see we were thinking along the same lines. --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:17, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

No problem, just one of the quirks of the wiki software that there's no "protection conflict" warning, like you get with edit conflicts and blocking conflicts. The end result was pretty much the same, so no worries. "Great minds think alike" and such. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:21, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Ah, the end result is exactly the same. I just noticed that you reverted to my expiry. You didn't have to do that, but I appreciate that you did, and I almost always do the same thing in those situations. So thanks :) --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:26, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Editing versus Sandbox

You just deleted a very small "edit" i made called "my english teacher detests wikipedia". let me explain: I just signed up with wikipedia, and was merely testing out some features. I thought I was using this Sandbox feature to test out some HTML, so i typed something i thought was witty, for my own enjoyment while i learned how to use wikipedia. Sorry it appeared as vandalism, i just got my wings, i'm still learning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aewebb06 (talkcontribs) 01:40, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Welcome, no need to apologize. If you need help finding your way around, just let me know. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:20, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

66.30.29.132

Dear Bongwarrior,

I saw your very professional user talk note to 66.30.29.132, reverting the edit to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isthmus

I noticed it because I was investigating the note at the top of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archipelago by the same user.

I don't actually have a problem with the note at the top of Archipelago, I was just curious about your take on it.

Josh Moses (talk) 00:21, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

It's testing/vandalism. You don't have a problem with a user adding the disclaimer "WARNING: NOT AN TRUSTWORTH SITE"[7] to the top of an article? Whenever a user such as this tries to "prove" that the Wikipedia philosophy of open editing doesn't work, they usually only succeed in proving that it does :) --Bongwarrior (talk) 00:44, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

OK. I appreciate your diligence. Josh Moses (talk) 01:10, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

for getting that revert back to the right version...  7  05:45, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

It would appear that whatever block was issued to you has expired long ago. And thank you for your concern about my health, but you'll be relieved to know that marijuana, the only drug I currently use, has been directly responsible for approximately zero deaths since the dawn of history. --Bongwarrior (talk) 22:53, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
