Hello[edit]

Have you visited Scottish Wikipedians' notice board yet?--Mais oui! 20:50, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Looked in a couple of times and followed up on some articles needing fixed (e.g. the Carlyle one is probably ready to lose its clean-up notice). But generally I'm a bit dour and unsociable... AllyD 23:01, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AllyD, and thanks for jumping in. Currently, "(vocals)" is not part of the members listing, can be found in the second review partly tho. Since I don't have the album and/or booklet currently, it would be great if someone else could add that information, hopefully respecting my "cronotransductional" page structure ;) Regards,--wolfgang 00:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please always sign comments[edit]

Hi, just a quick note to say that unsigned votes do not get counted at Categories for deletion, in fact unsigned comments are often removed altogether from pages, so if you want your recent vote and comment to count, please go back and leave a quick note to say that that was you... and sign the note, obviously:

PMaG[edit]

Nice work starting the Perth Museum and Art Gallery article. It was in my to-do list, which is now one item shorter. - Dudesleeper 21:18, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Fergusson Gallery has always passed me by for some reason. I even stayed at a B&B on Marshall Place in April but didn't realise the Fergusson was so close by. I included the other photo of the PMaG (please tell me we're the only ones who call it that) I took on the same day in a gallery I started in the Perth article.
Thanks for the heads-up on Allan Moore. I added the necessary categories. - Dudesleeper 10:11, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Cale - Honi Soit[edit]

The inside jacket of the lp does caption a pic of Cale as "flight surgeon," with the other members of his band as "hellcat," "gunner," "navigator," and "wing and prop." Here's a pic on my photobucket I just took of it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/SchnappM/IMG_2104-P30.jpg Sorry it's not more clear, but you can make out "flight navigator" pretty easily. I'm gonna remove the citation request from the article SchnappM 10:31, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Progressive big bands[edit]

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I've been categorizing so much I'm glad people are willing to fix mistakes when I make them. Yeah the term "progressive big band" is a bit weird, but like you said it does apply to certain big bands, as does Category:Experimental big bands. The problem is, there are so few articles on jazz ensembles on here. People have the habit of briefly mentioning groups in passing regarding certain musicians. I'd like to see more articles on jazz ensembles myself. How about you? (Mind meal 21:48, 2 July 2007 (UTC))[reply]

van Deurzen[edit]

I've worked on Emmy van Deurzen a little more, but have now given enough time to it. It wins the prize for COI of the week--good luck with it. DGG (talk) 23:32, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

George Russell[edit]

Did you read my edit summary (see also Lennie Tristano (per Lewis Porter)?[1] "The matching of scales to chords was espoused by Lennie Tristano and George Russell during the early 1950s. Before that time, players were already doing that by ear, as we've seen." Porter, 1999, John Coltrane, p. 321. —Viriditas | Talk 22:30, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ColtraneVillageVanguardAgainCover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ColtraneVillageVanguardAgainCover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. James Duncan and birth certificates[edit]

Hey, I saw the change you made to James Duncan, and how you found the birth certificate which identified the place of birth more closely. How did you find that birth certificate? Is there a Web site somewhere? This would be a terrific resource. Thanks! - Tim1965 (talk) 21:16, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Mighty Stirling Albion[edit]

I bunged in something that seemed reasonable to me, but please change it if you disagree. It's a global project, so outside of the Old Firm (boo!), I'm not sure any team in Scotland rates more than Low importance. I don't think I've ever watched Stirling Albion, unless they played the Shire in the late 80s. I used to sit in an office that overlooked Firs Park, so if I was working on a Saturday, as happened quite a lot, I'd get to sneak a look at East Stirlingshire's finest. If the Shire are as bad as they used to be, and that was pretty bad, I'm seeing a better game up the road at White Star ... Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:SunRaAtlantisImpulse.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:SunRaAtlantisImpulse.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 15:40, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wallonia & Flanders Maps[edit]

Thanks for pointing out those maps at Flanders & Wallonia. Wow, there's alot of erroneus maps out there. GoodDay (talk) 20:40, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They should be changed to political (i.e. show Belgium); as the article isn't restricted to geography. GoodDay (talk) 20:57, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sonny Rollins photo[edit]

If you can find a way to fit it in that section without causing page display issues, then I have no objection. Unless the image is significantly minimized, however, it will mess up the sections. (Mind meal (talk) 23:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

External links[edit]

Hi. I removed the links for a number of reasons. One is that they were added by what appears to be a single purpose account that has only added, or revised, links to this website. The website is related to an organization whose purpose, as stated in its "about", as well as in the WP article LUX, is a promotional site. WP:LINKSPAM provides to remove such links. This policy provision also notes Many times users can be confused by the removal of spam links because other links that could be construed as spam have been added to the article and not yet removed. The inclusion of a spam link should not be construed as an endorsement of the spam link, nor should it be taken as a reason or excuse to include another. So while there may be more questionable links on articles, this one came to attention because the contributor added a quantity of links to the website. Scotland[edit]

I refer to the Talk:Scotland page and your comment: I've restored the prior version and suggested that the participants bring their proof to this page before editing further. However, I noted that User:Astrotrain has, without further discussion, proceeded with and edit relating to the Scottish royal arms. Yours, Czar Brodie (talk) 14:56, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Albert Ayler[edit]

"baby with bathwater" is very well-put. You have a point there.

And thanks for making some subsequent changes to more carefully address what I was trying to address with my sledgehammer approach.

If you are feeling more motivated than I am, there are still some things that I would argue need to go in the lead section--words like "blistering" and "pathos-filled" really either shouldn't be there or they should be in quotation marks and cited.SlubGlub (talk) 18:41, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Series merges[edit]

Hi Ally,

Thank you for your insightful and curteous messages, both on The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra talk page and on my own. I began suggesting these series merges because I had been coming across a lot of articles about albums, television episodes, books etc. which presented no citations and very little information (other than track listings, in the case of albums) and yet were part of a larger series. I have been approaching these merges by creating an article about the series first and then suggesting the merge because in almost all cases (and I have only been doing this when I thought it was the case), the series article needed to be created anyway, even if the merge did not take place. For example, even though all three Back to the Future films have their own articles, an article about the trilogy is still appropriate. In most cases, the series is more notable than the constituent albums (or films, or books, etc). As for The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra, you have made a good case for not merging, although I think it would be helpful to include the citation you provided on the actual article. If they are not to be merged, would you recommend that The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra redirect to the first volume? Have you noticed any other series merges I have suggested to which you would object? Thank you again for your advice. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other recommendations.

Happy editing,

Maya Deren and Meshes[edit]

Thanks for your note updating the moves. It did seem strange to find it in the bio but in my haste I didn't check there was an article for the film. Looks much better now with your good decision. I don't have an immediate reference for it, but Deren's death sparked fear that it was because of Voodoo among some art historians commenting on the circumstances. Don't know if that's relevant, but it's part of the surrealism-ismness of her life or persona. Thanks again, Julia Rossi (talk) 21:44, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rip Rig Panic[edit]

Yea, but it links to the album in the first sentence, so I think it's a little redundant.Cosprings (talk) 14:25, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sonny Rollins and narcotics (?)[edit]

re: User:Hleo, Ally wrote: "Any chance of adding some references?" Wait- I contributed to a Rollins _bio_? Likely 'twas elsewheres... An' most-likely Sonny & me got so high nobody'd never know. Unfortunately this editor mostly lives outside WP-land, and you din't bother to link to the article/section in question- So yeah, I don't know what you're referring to here. But please, 'Feel Free' to add the *useful* material ya got.
