The article Polyrhythm Addicts has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:02, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Carter was the only person in the AMG article mentioned as a sideman (I don't have physical access to any of his records). If you've got the full list of personnel, please add them - the article is so thin as it is, anything extra would be useful. Chubbles (talk) 02:55, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Art Ensemble of Chicago members category[edit]

Hi Cossie - yes the list is complete as far as wikipedia should be concerned. The only potential additions might be Corey Wilkes and Jaribu Shahid who joined the group for Non-Cognitive Aspects of the City if they ever become notable enough. One time album contributers should be treated as guests not members as should Fontella Bass who contributed on two albums. DISEman (talk) 01:24, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Roller skater categories[edit]

I put all the roller skater categories back, because they should not have been emptied before being brought forward for deletion. That said, I have no particular interest in whether or not the categories are kept. So please feel free to bring them up for discussion again, as long as you don't empty them first. I will say that all athletes need a "(Nationality) (sport players)" category, so if Category:American roller skaters is not kept, it will have to become something, such as being split between Category:American inline skaters and Category:American roller derby skaters and the like.--Mike Selinker (talk) 21:32, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Enja Records, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages David Friedman and Bobby Jones (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). David Becker[edit]

It appears that you recently tried to give David Becker Tribune a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into David Becker. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Non-free rationale for File:Tony Lemans.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Tony Lemans.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Removing attribution templates[edit]

Hi. :) Please don't remove attribution templates like from articles as you did here when the content remains in the article. These are not only necessary for verification, but required by the plagiarism guideline. Without these templates, our readers have no way of identifying copied content and misunderstandings like this one arise, which not only require that other editors spend time investigating but, if investigation fails to identify the source, may result in the loss of information that we are legally entitled to reproduce. Overly hasty changes on Harmonium, etc.[edit]

Greetings, I saw the series of chops you did on various reed organ articles today. I'm not thrilled that you did this without advance warning, no pinging involved authors, and the one single Talk page post you made was in reply to a 3 year old merge request.

I'd say this was inappropriate: even absolute worst-case scenario these articles were not so "wrong" that they needed to be urgently corrected. What would've been so bad about posting at each of the articles saying "here's my idea, what do you guys think?" Maybe post at the India and Musical Instruments wikiprojects to let folks know. User:Opus88888 created the Harmonium (hand-pumped) fork back in July without mentioning it to anyone, and that wasn't cool either, but neither is your undiscussed move. I'm considering just reverting all those changes back to the status quo ante until we can get some consensus for these moves. Any reason why I shouldn't just do that? Speaking procedurally, not in terms of "here's why Cosprings is correct musicologically". I just think this kind of extensive label tweaking of the reed organ family shouldn't be done by one person in one day without any discussion. re disambig links[edit]

Hi Cosprings. I note that you are getting a bunch of link-to-disambig-pages notices. Are you understanding about not linking to disambig pages? For instance, one would (basically) never put a link to (let's say) Sebastian Cabot in an article, since there are two Sebastian Cabots and so that link just takes the reader to a page that looks like this:

Sebastian Cabot may refer to:
Sebastian Cabot (explorer) (1476–1557), Italian explorer
Sebastian Cabot (actor) (1918–1977), British actor

which is seldom useful. Instead, you would want to write Sebastian Cabot. The first part (before the pipe character (the "|")) describes where the link goes; the second part (after the pipe character) describes what the user sees. (I use "where it goes - what it shows" as a mnemonic to remember which is which.) This way, the user still sees "Sebastian Cabot" but the link takes him directly to our page for Charles Sebastian Thomas Cabot, the actor.

If the name is extremely unusual (Mortomero Quisenberry, say) then probably there isn't a disambig page and you can just write "Mortomero Quisenberry". If the name is very usual (Ed Smith, say) then there most certainly will be a disambig page and you'll need to use write "Ed Smith" or whatever. If it's in-between you'll have to check. Generally you should check by following the link yourself.

Any questions about this, feel free to message me. Cheers and happy editing, Herostratus (talk) 04:20, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to help improve new topic Quarteto Novo[edit]

Hi,

Just wanted to call your attention to brand new topic Quarteto Novo and invite you to edit or change it, based on your interest in related articles about Brazilian musicians who were band members or collaborators.

Interestingly, no article existed for the band itself, so I just created one. It's based on the Portuguese version (my translation), adding some links and some categories suitable for English WikiPedia, and InterWiki links for the Languages section. I then back-tracked to articles about the band members and collaborators, and added inlinks to the new topic.

Since it's based on the PT article, which did not have a ton of references, neither does this version. That's a defect which should be fixed, and a lot of the claims made in the article should be checked out and either referenced, or removed (notably, the opinion stated in the last sentence of the article).

Feel free to have a look at Quarteto Novo, and help me improve it.

Thanks!

Hi mate! I changed your edit to the above for a couple of reasons. 1. I thought moving a controversy section to the lede might create some WP:WEIGHT issues in terms of content, even more so because that section is un-sourced (yep, need to fix that). 2. Because that section mentions a specific brand. In a topic area that is all about brands, including one particular one in the lede probably gives it more prominence that is justifiable.

All of that said, I have no problem with a summary of the controversy section being included in the lede. Nor do I have any problem with the controversy section being expanded with refs to further justify that. More than happy to discuss and come up with a workable solution. Cheers, Stalwart111 21:43, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks- I agree with your rearrangement. Did you remove any content, or just rearrange? I don't have time to go line by line to check. Also- in general, edit summaries are helpful to other editors to enable a quick take on what changes were made. Cheers Tvoz/talk 21:59, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You just unilaterally deleted/merged a whole bunch of pages without discussing it and without any edit summaries. There is absolutely no consensus for your changes, let alone common sense. What could have sorted with a general discussion on the project talk page was done without any discussion at all. Of course it was reverted. You tried this yesterday and were reverted. What made you think doing it to key subject articles would produce a different result? Stalwart111 14:24, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, pointy attempts to speedy-delete articles (again without discussion) that you didn't manage to delete-by-redirect isn't "contribut[ing] to the skateboarding project". Again, you are invited to contribute at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Skateboarding or on the talk pages of any of the articles you have tried to delete/redirect. re Stan Kenton again[edit]

Well, let's think about this together.

It's my understanding that Kenton did indeed write those songs, and you're not contending that the info is false. Finding a source showing that Kenton wrote those songs should be fairly easy, using allmusic.om or whatever. I think that you should to that instead of removing the info. If you don't want to to that, tag the material with citation needed so someone else will. (I'm not going to do it because I no interest in Stan Kenton and don't consider the list problematical, You apparently do, so it's your job to fix the perceived problem by getting the sources, or tagging for later citation.)

In your edit summary you wrote "Kenton wrote 100s of songs. Removing unsourced section", so from the first sentence I infer that the real problem, to your mind, may be that the list is incomplete. The problem here is: well of course it is, and intentionally so: the sections begins with "Stan Kenton's compositions included..." (emphasis added). I'd say that we're allowed to survey a composer's complete works and list or mention those which are most notable or otherwise of special interest, and this is commonly done. Otherwise, we would be in position where we would only be allowed to list all of a composer's works or none of them. That would be highly idiosyncratic position to hold and one that few would agree with, I think. (Tagging the list with incomplete list would arguably be OK though, and you could do that if you wanted to I suppose, although it looks like the list is not intended to be exhaustive.)

If your issue is that the list should include a different subset of his work, that's reasonable and reasonable people can discuss this. If that's your issue you need to say so.

Wikipedia is not paper. There's plenty of room here. Deleting a partial list of a composer's work for idiosyncratic reasons, or for no reason, and edit warring over it is not going to get us where we want to go. There is a lot of unsourced material in the Wikipedia, and simply deleting material that is believed true is not helpful. Well, it depends on the case. In this case it's not helpful, I don't think. If there's reason to believe that material is false, that'd be entirely different. But you're not claiming that.

So if you're deleting that material simply because it's not sourced, that's overly pedantic and you should stop doing that. If you're deleting the material because of some idiosyncratic belief -- that all lists of works must be complete, or that there's too much info in Wikipedia articles generally, or whatever -- and just using lack of sourcing as an excuse, that's disingenuous and you should stop doing that. If there's some other reason, you should so state on the talk page and we can discusss it.

I reverted your deletion per WP:BRD. You should read that page and take it to heart, and you should not just restore your revisions again. That would be edit warring and is frowned upon. Take your case for deleting the section to the article talk page, and if you convince me and others of the propriety of the deletion, then we'll make it so. If not, then so be it. I've opened a thread on the article talk page and I think that further discussion should go there. Herostratus (talk) 14:07, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, most folks nowadays keep conversations on the talk page where started. It's a matter of taste, but most do it nowadays, as do I so, let's keep it here if that's OK. You replied "Geese you must have spend a lot of time writing that. Skimmed it. It just doesn't belong. I've edited hundreds of similar jazz articles and it just makes no sense to have a list of his compositions there that NO ONE WILL READ."
OK, thank you for replying. This helps me to see where you are coming from. So OK, you're not concerned about the lack of sourcing, you're just using that for leverage. Thanks for being honest about that, and I hope you'll stop doing that anymore and be straight about your motivations. OK, regarding that no one is interested in seeing a short of list of Kenton's most notable compositions in an article about Sten Kenton, all I can say is: I guess we disagree, but I think that about 100% of disinterested editors would disagree with you, and in my opinion your opinion is highly idiosyncratic to the point of being eccentric, even bizarre. Wikipedia is not paper, there's plenty of room for material like that, it's pretty clearly germane Kenton's career, and of course no one is required to read it. If you have some objective evidence such as surveys, feel free to present it. In the meantime, stop warring to enforce your personal opinions.
If you've "edited hundreds of similar jazz articles" to unilaterally remove useful material like this, then now we are starting to talk about a serious problem. Have you?
Thanks also for admitting that you lack the acuity, perseverance, or desire to properly process a few short paragraphs of cogent argument. This also is good to know, and will inform my future communications with you, and about you. Herostratus (talk) 18:23, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Again[edit]

I've tried to be nice about this but you have absolutely no basis or consensus for your unilateral delete-by-redirect campaign. For whatever reason you have refused to discuss it so until you actually explain what you're trying to do (you know, on talk pages, without bizarre broken-English insults) your deletions will continue to be reverted.

Your editing is becoming disruptive, and you know it. Stalwart111 22:55, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I need to back this up, as I deleted numerous offensive comments from my Talk page that were written by this copy editor.--Soulparadox (talk) 10:08, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Freestyle skateboarding tricks[edit]

Well, I'm happy you've taken up my offer to discuss one of these before trying to delete it again. But just because an article is unsourced, doesn't mean it should be deleted and that's exactly what two different admins told you in refusing to delete three articles you nominated for speedy deletion. Instead of just deleting articles, how about helping us WP:FIXTHEPROBLEM? In fact, that's basically the point of WP:BEFORE. Already I've gone back and rewritten/sourced two of the articles you tried to delete.

You're right that WP is not a "skateboarding fan website" and I have no intention of turning it into as much. The purpose of restarting the Skateboarding WikiProject was to start sourcing articles. As at last December, most of the skateboarding-related articles had no sources at all. Most were pure WP:HOWTO or WP:OR. Soulparadox and I have systematically gone through related articles to fix sourcing, original research and strip much of the rubbish out. I don't have an outright objection to articles being deleted, but let's at least try to see if we can find some sources before we go down that path. Yeah? Stalwart111 21:32, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed a tendency for general and emotive criticism on Wikipedia as a whole, rather than a consistent practice of tackling specific issues that leads to nuanced and objective discussion. For example, a copy editor may use the phrase "skateboarding fan site" rather than raising concerns over particular wording or the tone of certain sections; that is, the implication has been that the person who is doing the criticizing is more concerned with the matter of skateboarding, rather than Wikipedia and how skateboarding is written about on the website. It may just be overtired editors who can't be bothered writing more than they need to, but I think we need to make that extra effort if we aspire to be worthwhile contributors. Just my two cents of course.--Soulparadox (talk) 06:18, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't want responses to your message, don't leave messages. First you try to delete things without discussing it first, then you finally open a thread on my talk page that seemed like you wanted to discuss something first, then you posted elsewhere that you didn't want to discuss it with me after all. Pretty strange stuff. Like I said from the start, they are not our "skateboarding contributions" that are unsourced, in fact we've embarked on a rather substantive campaign to source articles that previously had none. You're trying to delete the few we haven't managed to get to yet. And I don't think suggesting a discussion (which is... you know... the suggested method around here) is "lecturing" you. You've decided not to contribute in a collegial manner and then get angry when non-collegial edits are pointed out. Wanna talk about it? I'll be here, where I have been from the start. Wanna get angry about it? You'll have to do that on your own. Stalwart111 03:19, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have never met Stalwart and we are not personal friends, but I need to concur with his statements thus far in regard to this matter. Stalwart has provided constructive criticism in relation to my editing in the past and I think that you may benefit from reading examples of this, as it provides a good template for an appropriate manner in which to raise concerns, etc. I don't think it benefits anyone to become stuck in circular debates, so I strongly suggest that we continue to progress and also involve other copyeditors. As it currently stands, I believe that it is reasonable to continue with Stalwart's active projects and I will be doing this until I am informed that it is not reasonable. Skateboarding Article[edit]

I would like to invite you to assist me with a large comprehensive edit I have been working on for the skateboarding article since Oct 2012 located in my sandbox here: User:Tinkermen/SandboxGH

This edit has turned out to be very large based on the amount of history in skateboarding & I could use some help in completing the edit by having other editors to collaborate with me during this time, as I have have not had any time to work on the edit since around Dec 2012. I hope you will join me in this effort, I will also leave a couple of other editors this same message.Tinkermen (talk) 21:46, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Dew Tour, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

 • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
 • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
 • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. http://www.scribd.com/doc/203058594/Adventurous-Brands OlYeller21Talktome 05:08, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Eliquate. Redirecting Saturday Night Live sketches[edit]

Hello, Cosprings. You recently redirected many articles about individual Saturday Night Live characters or sketches to the article about the television series, removing a great deal of content in the process. Although many of those articles need better sources or other clean-up, I see no consensus to remove the information from Wikipedia. Your edit summaries (typically, "Redirected page to Saturday Night Live") do not explain your thinking on the changes. I have therefore restored the page content using the "undo" function.

If you believe that these articles should be removed and their names redirected to Saturday Night Live, you may want to discuss that with other editors, either on the individual article talk pages or at some central location such as Talk:Saturday Night Live or Wikipedia:Village pump. If you start a central discussion, you should probably note that fact on the talk pages of each article being discussed. Cnilep (talk) 02:14, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: KACL (Frasier)[edit]

Hello Cosprings. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of KACL (Frasier), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 is for real things, not fictional radio stations. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:02, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Your edit summary for this edit, which removed the entire section on Silver's Style and technique, was "piece already covered later in article". Um, where is that? And your edit also removed the ref source for the discography - why was that? (... the current reason for not posting as a RD at ITN is that there aren't enough citations in the article?) Thanks. List of ancient Egyptian deities[edit]

May I ask why you moved the list of deities back to the main article? For a long time, I was uncertain about whether to keep them together or separate them, but I leaned toward the latter because the list could grow really unwieldy. See this old talk page discussion for the problems with the list. I ended up splitting the two on the advice of the article's an experienced editor who reviewed the main article; see WP:Peer review/Ancient Egyptian deities/archive1. I really don't think merging them back is the sort of change that should be carried out without discussion. A. Parrot (talk) 17:59, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Let's discuss it on the talk page. I've opened a new section there: Talk:Ancient Egyptian deities#List of deities, again. A. Parrot (talk) 21:17, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: More about Egypt[edit]

No idea. My specialty is ancient Egyptian religion, and I've only been a member of the ancient Egypt project since 2008, so I don't know much about what went on before then, outside the religious articles. The wikiproject is pretty disorganized, so overlapping articles do often spring up. You could ask User:Leoboudv, who's been around a lot longer than I have and knows more about chronology. A. Parrot (talk) 16:02, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

 • Conventional Egyptian chronology just goes directly to List of pharaohs Its perhaps the same article but if some merger is needed to List of Pharaohs you would need an Admins help and I am not an Admin. You should ask Admin Dougweller who knows such matters to see if there is anything that needs to be merged or not. He knows Egyptology and this would not be a controversial move to merge the articles or eliminate the redirect between the awkwardly named "Conventional Egyptian chronology" to "list of pharaohs" which also has an approximate chronology. Attention: WikiProject African diaspora participants[edit]

Hello fellow project participants. Not sure how many users are still active as normal Wikipedia editors but felt the need to attempt to get a gauge on who can be called on for help with articles falling under the umbrella of the African diaspora project. According to the project's article table there are over six thousand articles related to the African diaspora; there's not a hundred at FA/GA grade and there's over twelve hundred that are unassessed. With Wikipedia being one of the major information reference points in the world today we should consider this unacceptable. Much work needs to be done on the rating of the importance of articles as well. With more communication amongst participants and a dedication to addressing the articles on the to-do list I believe we can make this WikiProject one of the most well organized and thorough on the site. If you are interested in collaborative work with some of your fellow project members, have certain expertise on any particular subjects, ideals on/about the WikiProject, etc. simply drop your name under the "Project revision" section I've created on the project's talk page and state your intentions and main points of interest in our WikiProject and we can attempt to move forward from there. Hoping to hear from everyone soon! WikiGuy86 (talk) 03:16, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Arkadia Jazz, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
