What are the rules for semi-protecting pages?[edit]
Hi Alai. What are the rules for semo-protecting pages? I'm a bit tired of having to remove the same vandalism to Youth of the Danish People's Party everyday. (Its mother party is deeply controversial, but somebody seems to mistake this project for a soapbox, especially since Denmark is currently in the middle of an election). Best. I have actually given some thought to programming this with a menu of options; you're not the only person to request this feature. - Sigh...there are actually at least 3 editors trying to get Xi Zhu to discuss his edits, but he just inserts them, usually as POV unsourced material. He then keeps vandalizing our user talk pages. He's going to get blocked if he keeps doing that, and all we want to do is engage him in a discussion. If you can get him to calm down and discuss, that would be appreciated! Burma is divided into 7 states and 7 divisions although they are all basically states at the same level of administration I think: Split by Chin State, Kachin State, Kayah State, Kayin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, Shan State , Ayeyarwady Division, Bago Division, Magway Division, Mandalay Division, Sagaing Division, Tanintharyi Division, Yangon Division.

I'm back from my extended wikibreak (though I'm not going to be as active as I was before) so I've started brining BJBot's various functions back online. Could Alaibot move some articles into this new stub type? Specifically, For all articles in Category:Mexico broadcasting stubs that have their article name ending in "-FM" replace {{Mexico-bcast-stub}} with {{Mexico-radio-station-stub}}? Betacommand: Part Deux[edit]
Betacommand acted a bit hastily with respect to my suggestion of how to accommodate his desire to have the expanding it link in stub templates be something he could ignore while engaged in his quest to rid Wikipedia of internal external links. Just thought you ought to be aware of it as an admin associated with this project. My kludge does work (for now), but if the dev's ever use the fake URL parameter "stub" as real URL parameter, it'll cause some havoc. Shouldn't cause any immediate problems. Categorizing Consultation[edit]
I'm working on a split of Category:Communes and villages in Romania because someone made a lot of stubs. I based some edits on previously created categories for communes, but I am not so sure that make sense now that I've looked at it more deeply. There seems to be little to no distinction between communes and villages in the articles. At present, there are categories for communes, for communes and villages (grouped together) and for "localities" for each county. Can you take a look at it and tell me what you think? Whatever is best, it should be done in a uniform way. I tried to consult with WikiProject: Romania's members, but so far I haven't heard back from them so I decided to consult you and Grutness. - This is what I'm working on: User:Elonka/WikiDots proposal. For implementation, I'm thinking that it should start with a bot-maintained page that would compile a list of all active editors (defining active as 100+ edits/month), and filter out those who meet certain requirements, starting with two: recent unreversed blocks, and/or being listed on Wikipedia:Editing restrictions. The total "active editor" list is probably going to be about 10,000 editors, though the two-criteria list will probably filter to something much smaller (100-500). Another issue: WikiProject Saudi Arabia has a template used on talk pages that puts all the articles into stub categories (sometimes twice - once for talk and once for the article). I think it's template {{Expand Saudi Arabia}} but I can't find it to check up on it, and some articles that don't have that template on their talk page do that. I've contacted the wikiproject and am waiting for their reply. Could you take a look in the meantime? Category:Saudi Arabia stubs is a good place to start investigating if you care to. Trust me -in a few months there will be several thousand articles and you'll be making a lot of stub sorting work for yourself . I don;t care whether this is 55 or 60 articles for each state it needs setting up. The country covers nearly 680,000 km ². I agree with you. Sorry if I appeared aggressive its just we will be generating a lot of geo articles for Burma over the next few weeks. However initally it is the main towns and districts by state so there probably won't be over 60 for each one for some time (even though some states have as many as 10,000 villages). Category:Cities, towns and villages in the Mandalay Division has 42 at present -I'll be adding a few places tomorrow so it should be around 60 by tomorrow night. Bot help[edit]
Hi. You were recommended as a possible resource to create a bot for a mundane task I have in mind. For example, Mission San Juan Capistrano (Texas) is in Category:National Historic Landmarks in Texas and also Category:Registered Historic Places in Texas. The latter is redundant and should be deleted since the former is a subcategory of Category:Registered Historic Places in Texas. So, when a reader goes to Category:Registered Historic Places in Texas he'll see Category:National Historic Landmarks in Texas at the top, and then all of the "non-landmark" sites listed below. There needn't be any individual landmark sites in the list. Can you use a bot to do that (for all the states)? Could you have Alaibot sort through this stub category searching for birth year categories to place them into per decade templates (1900s thru 2000s) This category is oversized at 7 pages and a fairly random sample of about 30 of them I just tried to sort indicates that about 3/4 of them could be sorted into the per decade templates (Note, the 1900s, 1910s, and 2000s templates sort into the main category as well right now, so if you can get the list of what to sort by using What links here, it might work smoother.) The bot wasn't as helpful as I hoped, but that's because of pages that use per category sortkeys instead of DEFAULTSORT.
