The MTA one and probably many others aren't necessarily, but the logo as a symbol helps even when unreadable until you click. Yet you could change it to 40 or 50px. ɱ (talk) · vbm · coi) 00:29, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

You could keep four versions, 1910s black (displaying "lines" instead of "system", 1930s black, 1930s red, and 1960s white/black. Then we could see which works the best, or we could use more than one, depending on when stations closed. Cards84664 (talk) 17:25, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Revert

I'd like to request a revert of this change. The logo is inferior to the text for basically every purpose - it takes up more space, is harder to read, and uses an image to display text, which is strongly discouraged. S-rail is for displaying information quickly and cleanly, not shoehorning in logos. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:04, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

That works for modern agencies like Amtrak and the MBTA that have geometric logos recognizable under 20 pixels in height (i.e, inline with text). Older drumhead logos like the NYC that need to be displayed at larger sixes fundamentally don't work for s-rail. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:28, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
Wikipedia doesn't work on recentism, sorry. As well, the MTA has just as little readability as NYC, and nobody outside of the NY Metropolitan Area would recognize it. It's not about recentism; it's about readability for all readers. At 20-pixel height, the MBTA logo is obvious , the NYC logo is utterly useless , and the MTA logo is imperfect but readable . If you want the NYC logo at that height along with text, fine - it's not disruptive like it is now. Pi - You were discriminating against historical transit agencies right there, while Wikipedia specifically aims to be equal in considering historical and current topics. And that MTA logo actually has less readability at that scale than the NYC logo has at around the 50-70px we've been using... You're biased because you're familiar with the logo; most readers will not be able to read the MTA logo at that scale. It's not about recentism; it's about readability for all readers. Please read that again. At a height that doesn't add unnecessary bulk to the infobox (and that 70-pixel wide image absolutely does), the NYC logo, most historical logos, and many modern logos are not readable. You don't understand, the NYC logo would actually make the s-rail display smaller than the text would: look at Grand Central Terminal. There's nothing vague about calling it non-negotiable. Logos shouldn't be used in place of text for s-rail columns, especially if it's being done because of concerns over box width within infobox station. It suppresses the display of the "preceding" and "next station" columns so that the title spans the entire width of the box. It's in use on Grand Central Terminal already. Mackensen (talk) 23:43, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Okay, cool, maybe that would buy me some room to do what I was originally proposing/hoping for - the text "New York Central Railroad" spanning two lines, with the logo, about 40-60px, to the left of both lines of text. Transit system icons being used in this way were the subject of a previously RfC, at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Icons#Transit system icons in nav templates, with a result of no consensus. A second thread on the same page was opened about it shortly thereafter, and also lead to no conclusion. I would suggest opening a new RfC about this at WP:VPPOL where it will get more input, rather than continuing to re-discuss it on talk pages few people pay any attention to. The description of Deux-Montagnes line is displayed as Deux-Montages (the n is missing).

Can it be fixed? If so, is there way that I can fix it myself?

Hello, The RTM/Reseau de Transport Metropolitain in Montreal was rebranded as EXO in May 2018. Please add/update the template to reflect EXO instead of RTM. REM railbox

The Réseau express métropolitain is a 67-kilometre, 26 station rapid transit project currently U/C in Montreal. Groundbreaking for the project was held last April[1].

I believe the REM Wiki page is in need of a rail box. I would do one myself but don't know how. I was told a few months ago that it would not be done due to the project being so up in the air, but similar projects like the Purple Line (Maryland) and the Purple Line Extension have their own rail box despite being U/C and planned to be completed after the first phase of the REM is complete in 2021.

I have personally created pages for every REM station last year so it should be relatively easy to implement. Can anyone help? Mtlfiredude (talk) 22:23, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

@Cards84664: I tried fixing it, but the Pointe-Claire station page on the railbox is not the correct one. The page in question is a page for the commuter rail station located a few kilometers south near the A-20, while the REM station will be up north near the A-40. The current logo used to represent the National Railway Company of Belgium (line NMBS=) is a GIF (File:Sncb nmbs.gif) which involve poor quality when downsized such as in this case. Would you mind changing it for its SVG version (File:SNCB logo.svg) ? As the dimensions are identical, no size adjustment should be required.

@Cards84664: Any way we could get the system names and icons to appear in the single line? I’m thinking the system name is being squished by the two coloured columns that flank the line names, even though they do not appear in the row for the system names. Single line for system name without Nowrap

How do we get system names to appear on a single line without affecting the width of the table itself? The answer may be that it is not possible, nor should we try. We do not know what various browsers people are using on their various devices, and so should avoid making assumptions about what looks best based on what it looks like on our own screens. add Daejeon Metro, Daegu Metro and Gwangju Metro to the list with the subsequent parameters:

  • DJET = [[Daejeon Metro]]

  • GRTC = [[Gwangju Metro]]

  • DMT or DTRO = [[Daegu Metro]]

Requested change July 2020 for TransLink

Instead of TransLink (South East Queensland) it should now link to TransLink (Queensland) as the result of a rename.Fleet Lists (talk) 09:22, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

@Fleet Lists: I'd recommend a conversion to Template:Adjacent stations via Module:Adjacent stations/TransLink (Queensland), as to make changes to individual systems easier in the long run. If you'd need help setting up the module, please let me know. Cards84664 00:43, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
@Cards84664: I am not the primary maintainer of Queensland information and hence will not be taking things that as far as Queensland is concerned - I am just cleaning up some things which were left behind after a recent rename. However for New South Wales with over 400 stations I do have the move to Template:Adjacent stations diarised for later this year after I have completed another exercise. OASA Rail

The link should be changed from Proastiakos#Athens to Proastiakos, since the template is also used for the Thessaloniki and Patras lines and there is no such subsection in the article anyway. The name of the line itself should also be changed to Proastiakos for the sake of accuracy, since the lines in all three cities are operated by TrainOSE rather than OASA. •ΘΕΟΔΩΡΟΣ• 08:36, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

Yes. They are completely separate, despite sharing a brand name and logo. That is why the current link is inappropriate; a simple link to Proastiakos would cover the suburban rail networks of all three cities. It is also why "OASA Rail" is a misnomer; OASA is responsible for public transport in Athens exclusively. •ΘΕΟΔΩΡΟΣ• 19:59, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
 Partly done: I've removed the slink, but left the icon because it is still in use (based on everything I can find). The only place "OASA" appears is in the template name, so really it's a bit of moot point anyway. Primefac (talk) 21:08, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Question

MIDM is defined as "West Midlands Metro" (the new name for Midland Metro). Why does it still show up on Wikipedia pages as "Midland Metro" - eg, here: Library tram stop? Kennethmac2000 (talk) 14:58, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
