Fair use rationale for Image:Bowie WildIsTheWind.jpg[edit]

Image:Bowie WildIsTheWind.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:14, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale has since been added to the image in question. Cheers, Ian Rose 09:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Info about the song or Bowie's version in particular?[edit]

This article starts off as an entry about the song in general but then proceeds to list other information (credits, release dates etc) exclusively about the Bowie version - maybe those sections should be headed as referring to Bowie's version Pklala (talk) 21:34, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bowie section[edit]

I made a minor edit to the release date of the Bowie version, and a few hours later somebody removed the whole section. Seems accurately sourced to me, I think the complete removal is a bit harmful, because it breaks a lot of links in other articles. I added it back in for now, but I think it should be cleaned up rather than removed completely. It is a legitimate cover version of the song. I agree. I was planning to revert the removal for the same reasons you give, but I hesitated while I read the guidelines on notability. Inclusion seems justified on the grounds that the song was released as a single, and was a chart success (UK number 24 in 1981). Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 17:15, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
