More information[edit]

I met the author of this song. Chris DeBurgh didn't actually write it. He just put it to music. Working Girl reference[edit]

Why would a citation be needed to prove that "Lady in red" is part of the soundtrack of "Working Girl"? How would it be possible to provide such citation, considering that uploading the movie (which is the authoritative source) is forbidden due to copyright laws?
I see no point in requesting a citation, since it is not reasonable that "a Wikipedia editor feels that the preceding statement is likely to be challenged", considering that this statement can be verified as fact just by watching the movie.
Anyway if you want a reference, "Lady in red" can be heard approximately 55 minutes and 45 seconds after the movie starts (the start point defined as the moment the head of the statue of liberty first appears on the screen), and the phrase '"THE LADY IN RED" Written and Performed by Chris De Burgh Courtesy of A&M Records' appears on the credits (at 1:52:24).

Lady in Red vs. La Dama de Ayer[edit]

I've added a section for this (eight years since the preceding comment was posted, but better late than never). I wish I could find a better reference than Discogs. The song definitely exists; it had a page on his official website (now a broken link) and is available on YouTube. I'm curious what led to him recording it. The primary sources (de Burgh's official site, YouTube) are enough to establish that the song exists. There are no contentious facts or interpretations which require citations from reliable sources. novelty songs[edit]

The song tends to divide public opinion and it was voted the tenth most annoying song of all time in a poll commissioned by Dotmusic in 2000. It was one of only two singles in the top ten which were not novelty songs.[4]

Although it is sourced, this claim is dubious. At least three of the songs are definitely not "novelty songs" by any stretch of the imagination: Achy Breaky Heart, Lady in Red and I Should Be So Lucky. I would also argue that Europop such as Barbie Girl and We're Going To Ibiza are not novelty songs.

No, I don't have a source which uses a different number of novelty songs to the BBC, but Wikipedia policy does not insist that we repeat claims from reliable sources even when they are obviously wrong. --87.224.68.42 (talk) 11:28, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
