Information About the Song?[edit]

How about some information about the song itself, its content, structure and lyrics? rowley (talk) 14:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is the meaning of "But a little spoon of your forty five Saved you from another man."? Seth1066 (talk) 07:24, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that fits in the article, but .45 Colt pistols (and .44 Colt) is a recurring theme in blues songs. trespassers william (talk) 14:38, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Song's whole first verse[edit]

@Ojorojo: I appreciate your preserving the long quote of the song's first verse and views that such use is not "copyvio". However, I'm unsure whether such use is acceptable per WP:NFC#Unacceptable use, which deals with portions of primary source. WP:NFC#Acceptable use and WP:NOFULLTEXT can do as well. Also, the song was originally short when it was first recorded, and I think the article is using 25% or one-third of the lyrics, right? George Ho (talk) 19:37, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ah..... Found the renewal registration number from copyright.gov: RE0000397542 (or RE397542?). --George Ho (talk) 21:47, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Its use is consistent with the FA "Like a Rolling Stone" example given at WP:LYRICS#Copyrighted works. The lyrics illustrate the particular way Dixon expresses "men's sometimes violent search to satisfy their cravings, with 'a spoonful' used mostly as a metaphor for pleasures, which have been interpreted as sex, love, and drugs" in a way that an interpretation or paraphrasing cannot. —Ojorojo (talk) 14:40, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
