perhaps it should be noted that "somethin else" may be one of the first punk rock songs. it has a very characteristic punk riff, a riff that was especially identified with the new york punks. cochran may have been the earliest "proto-punk" rocker, a "punk" not only in terms of his attitude but in terms of the guitar riffs he used as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.233.162.218 (talk) 00:16, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly note that the 1979 cover version was by the Sex Pistols, not a Sid Vicious solo release. As above, please also note the reliable sources that are now in the article which support this. Thanks,
