Review of article for class

The article is very short (nearly stub-length), needs to be broken into sections, and needs more references. There isn't much to say about this article due to the short length. Article may contain original research. [Belinrahs|talktomeididit] 05:55, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Article review - Class Assignment

There is lot of scope for improvement for this article, listed below are my view-

1. There can be more sections to the topic on how the term has been coined and real time use of this process.

2. The references mentioned in the article do not give proper insight on the subject for example reference [2] was taken to write the line “In order to make the complete process of social media analysis a success it is important that key performance indicators (KPIs) for objectively evaluating the data is defined”. But this line does not show any connection with the topic.

3. I also feel that the structure of this wiki article is at fault, as I find one paragraph is not linked with another and they are not ended well. For instance consider the line Homophiles is used as a apart of analytics, it is a tendency that a contact between similar people occurs at a higher rate than among dissimilar people. According to research, two users who follow reciprocally share topical interests by mining their thousands of links. All these are used for taking major business decision in social media sectors. The sudden definition of Homophile without mentioning it in previous line or paragraph defines that it is poorly organized.

4. There are some grammar mistakes. Here is one in the line -“Homophily is used as a apart of analytics, it is a tendency that a contact between similar people occurs at a higher rate than among dissimilar people.” which can be corrected.

5. Some of the words can be improved in order to understand the definition better, I think Social Media Analytics is a branch or extended study of Social Analytics but not a part, like mentioned in the article.

6. Considering conference publications and peer reviewed articles as references will be helpful in the improvement of the article and will also add good value to it.

7. The examples mentioned in the articles are more restricted business and brands, there are lot of other areas that are being benefitted from Social Media Analytics that can be considered to be part of the article.

Overall I feel that the article can be improved by adding more sections and organizing the content for better understanding.Ramya Priya (talk) 23:36, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Article review

This article is too short and it could be expanded by adding some details like

  • Process - involved in social media analytics. Although the editor talked about the process but I feel it would need detailed information.
  • Key techniques - The article didn't mention about any key techniques which are used by social media analytics like sentiment analysis, trend analysis and visual analytics.
  • Role of social media analytics in businesses to improve their reputation.
  • About more social media analytic tools

Review of Article

This article has multiple issues such as it has no proper citations and this article has no contents section such as introduction, history and other sections which can get some overview of the wikipedia article. This article needs more references and proper citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pola sumanth (talkcontribs) 02:27, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

Article Review

Social media analytics is such a interesting topic in the current trend. It plays a vital role in many business decisions. Wikipedia article does not cover social media analytics in all different aspects. One of the main sub-topic that has to be included is Social media analytics in BI. BI help companies to solve complex problems with efficient decision making system. Structure of the article had to be improved. Very weak led section, absence of history. Citation and reference are pillars to wikipedia article that has to be increased to a greater extent. Separate section has to be created to talk about applications and different analytical tools.

ARTICLE REVIEW

Social media analytics is a vast concept but a very well known concept so don't panic when you start the article editing. In this article there are many sections that need to be included is what I feel after reviewing the topic. Add more references as the references support the article and make it good article. Try to put more pictures and try to use the current media technical assumptions.Stadepell (talk) 03:38, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

Suggested Improvements_Rahul JC

Social media analytics is one of the most important topic in current trend where data plays a vital role. Social media analytics is capable of finding many insights from a large pool of user opinions. Its very useful in taking complex business decisions. Considering all these important factors, this article has to be improved in many aspects such as,

  1. Structure of the article is very important to improve user understanding
  2. Lead section has to be improved, without a proper lead section users won't continue reading further
  3. More attention to history section, to reveal the importance and improvement of social media analytics over time.
  4. Improvement in English standard has to be considered.
  5. Citation and reference are very important in any wikipedia articles.

Article Review-peer Review

Has stated the article is very short and need to greatly to expanded to add history of how Social Media analytics have evolved from its earliest stages until now.

I propose a business section could be added to explain how the power of social media analytics could aid and help an organization to grow while monitoring and capturing data that its user use.

future section can be added to define what impact social media analytic could have on future technological advances

Definitely need more resources and proper citations for support

Social analytics is something totally different

Someone didn't notice that social analytics is a completely unrelated concept in philosophy and added a lot of social media analytic content there, which I've now removed to the talk page (see talk:social analytics). Perhaps some of that content could be usefully merged here.

Also, the lead sentence in this article was insinuated a relationship (now also redacted). — MaxEnt 18:28, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

Excessive quotation

"Social Media Analytics is the art and science of extracting valuable hidden insights from vast amounts of semi-structured and unstructured social media data to enable informed and insightful decision making. It is a science, as it involves systematically identifying, extracting, and analyzing social media data (such as tweets, shares, likes, and hyperlinks) using sophisticated tools and techniques. It is also an art, interpreting and aligning the insights gained with business goals and objectives. To get value from analytics, one should master both its art and science."

That's a rather long quote. We should probably write this using our own language instead. Also, I can't check the source, but I'm suspicious that the proper noun treatment (Social Media Analytic) is accurate from the original. Could be, but strikes me more as an affectation adopted here.

Obviously, that final sentence falls short of being encyclopedic in tone. — MaxEnt 18:32, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

A large chunk of this article is a poorly cited, poorly written student research paper

It appears to have occurred at this edit:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Social_media_analytics&diff=prev&oldid=754331856

I believe that in addition, this has made the article subject to spam insertions and makes it more difficult to maintain.

I believe all of the content added in that edit should be reverted. OilFresh (talk) 17:16, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

I would agree with this assessment. The material appears to have been added as part of a WikiEd assignment, wherein teachers assign students to edit Wikipedia for a grade. I have found that these contributions are often well below par. In this case, I agree with OilFresh's initial assessment that the material is largely redundant with material already available (and better presented) at data analysis. I'm inclined to leave the "Techniques" section in place, but marked as unreferenced until sources for this information can be found. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:03, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
