Quote in Luke[edit]

It's true that Psalm 88:8 is listed in a table next to "Lk. xxiii. 49." on page 839 of under the heading of "New Testament Quotations" in The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges, The Book of Psalms, but anyone who compares Psalm 88:8 and Luke 23:49 will see that although they have a passing similarity, and possibly the Psalm might even be said to be fulfilled by the event of Luke 23:49, yet it is not a "quotation". See for yourself:

Psalm 88:8. Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

Luke 23:49. And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

True, the words "acquaintance" and "far" both appear in both verses, but surely that's not enough for it to be a *quotation*.

(In the last sentence, I used both the word "not" and also the words "to be", but I didn't quote Hamlet! :) ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1702:32F0:A8E0:55E0:418D:3A48:5706 (talk) 09:29, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Darkness[edit]

The passage that says «darkness is my closest friend» closely resembles the opening verse of The Sound of Silence. Worth researching. Tuvalkin (talk) 01:36, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
