Also covered by "Traks" in 1982. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.203.113.95 (talk) 17:10, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed - There is also a terrific version by Spanish band Black Mamba; See track 11 of their June 2009 album ‘’Psico Latin Funk Fusion.‘’ The title is translated as ‘’Sin Amor‘’ (Without love)

Title[edit]

Although the title is Long Train Runnin', the most common lyric is "Without love, where would you be now?"

Thoroughly worthless information. It's the same case with many songs...some don't even use the title —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.105.193.43 (talk) 05:09, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not deeming it worthless at all! The listener identifies the song with what he hears. This led to pretty many (titles in brackets) in music history, denoting the main refrain or key words. --100humbert (talk) 09:31, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Less from Banannaramma (or whatever they're called)[edit]

Obviously some fan of an obscure group wet nuts with making references to their cover o this classic Doobie Brother's hit. Sure, I guess if they did a cover they deserve one line. But that's it! I deleted most of the references. Also, there was some weird UK centric quality to the article and I fixed that. Why UK? Why not Outer Mongolia or any other country that has NOTHING to do with this song? 108.202.113.201 (talk) 00:57, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The single was No. 7 in the UK Singles Chart. Not sure about the Outer Mongolia charts. The Bananarama version was also a top 30 hit in UK, Portugal and Ireland. So it deserves its own section. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:22, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2014 Southbound album[edit]

title: "Long Train Runnin'", writer: Johnston, duet partners: Toby Keith and Huey Lewis, length: 3:32 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southbound_(The_Doobie_Brothers_album) Detailaware (talk) 03:27, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How in the world is the original song's genre Country rock?[edit]

Why does the genre describe this as a Country Rock song? I would rather consider this as a funk song. Discogs says its "Funk / Soul, Pop" (see https://www.discogs.com/de/The-Doobie-Brothers-Long-Train-Runnin/master/111117 ). This would fit way better.--Einar Moses Wohltun (talk) 13:11, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would tend to agree, although the harmonica break is a bit countryfied. But discogs is not regarded as a WP:RS, so we'd need a better source. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:16, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
