My Changes tonight
- I added a list of union vs non union carriers.
- I added a section on FTL vs LTL carriers
- I added a section on how to package freight for LTL
- Article Needs info on:
- Better usage of English. Would someone care to edit my changes?
- List of regional carriers
- Info on various freight classes
- Info on LTL vs Parcel carriers
- Info on frequency of shipment in LTL vs FTL. reduced inventory requirements, LTL is less invasive as FTL requires more time and space to unload
- Technology used in LTL
- Union operation versus Non Union operation
- Information on history of LTL.

Dimensional weight
It has been my experience that nearly all LTL pricing is in accordance with the NMFC. Dimensional weight isn't really used outside of air freight or parcel shipping. Can you provide examples? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FreightFacts (talk • contribs) 22:40, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Edits/additions
- Added clarification on local and central LTL operations [1]
- Added term "hub and spoke" to further clarify local operations "What is 'LTL'?"
- Clarified the widely unknown term "linehaul" by substituting "transporting" so those outside the industry would understand.
- Broke longer thoughts into more concise sentences
- Added term "Distribution Center" to help explain "hub". Non-industry people can understand the former more easily.
- Added an interesting fact about local pickup/delivery operations but please remove if not relevant enough. (missed pickups)
