Holdings of irogane metal objects[edit]

It would be good to have a short list of key museums and galleries with representative samples of these materials. One I have been to is:

and I believe there is also a good collection at a couple of the Japanese city museums, and there are examples, of course, in the likes of the British Museum, NY Metropolitan, MMFA Boston, etc. but where else? 195.96.68.130 (talk) 11:38, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Guard", not "pommel"[edit]

Under the heading "History", the final sentence begins "The single most common historical usage was on the fitting known as a tsuba that is fitted below the pommel of the swords carried by samurai..." (emphasis added) This is incorrect. Japanese swords do not have pommels (although some incorrectly describe the kashira as a pommel). Regardless, the pommel on swords which have them fitted is a type of terminal cap on the grip whereas the tsuba is a guard located between the hands and the blade.
