Some additional information[edit]

  • The first reference, given as "The Tennessean. Nashville, Tennessee. July 23, 1954. p. 25. Retrieved December 24, 2015" presently points instead to The Easton Star-Democrat, Easton, Md., Friday, July 23, 1954. [unnumbered p. 25 of 32].
--The second reference is temporarily inactive as of this current date.
--The third reference is a dead link.
--The fourth reference, dated November 9, 1965, works properly, but is not very biographically informative, other than saying "Hank and Bill [McAuliffe] met ... about two years ago and were married six months later".
--Google does not appear to find an in-depth obituary.
  • However, Ancestry.com finds some useful information in at least two family trees:
--Eleanor Louise Middleton Hankins (June 19 [5 sources provided, including official birth certificate, and gravestone] or June 14 [unsourced], 1908 - January 12, 1973) on January 3, 1928, at age 19, married Walter Anderson Fort (December 11, 1903 - September 3, 1970). No children are listed under either name, nor is a divorce noted.
--The 1940 federal census, the most recent released, shows the Fort couple living with her parents, and gives her occupation as "dancing instructor".
    --On February 19, 1964, at age 55, she married William Edward McAuliffe (~1924 - July 20, 2005).
--From this it appears obvious that "Hank Fort" is her professional name, taken from her then married name, Fort, and what may have been a long-time nickname since girlhood, Hank, from her family name. She and Fort must have divorced at some time between 1940 and 1964.
Hope this helps. Milkunderwood (talk) 23:49, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
