Nationality?[edit]

Why is it not a nationality? Astrotrain 20:24, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A. At present Gibraltar is not fully independent. Gibnews 20:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure if legal independence is a requirement for a nationality (eg Scottish)? The nationality article doesn't really help though. Astrotrain 22:24, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the argument might be that at one time Scotland was independent --Gibnews 10:34, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a nationality because their nationality is in fact British, the belonger status is simply a status that gives them full rights within Gibraltar. That is, they have all rights a British Citizen has plus rights exclusively related to Gibraltar owing to their belonger status. When it comes to Scottish nationality, there's no such a thing (in terms of law), their are British according to the law. 177.19.62.150 (talk) 20:12, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

The word Gibraltarian applies to the people, not the state which is Gibraltar therefore although Gibraltarian culture is correct, the Gibraltarian law is not. They are referred to as 'the laws of Gibraltar' or Gibraltar law.

My understanding of Wikipedia is that if I see something wrong, its good to change it. --Gibnews 10:34, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking categories is confusing. If something is not needed, change it to a redirect or list it for deletion. I have gone ahead a listed it for deletion at at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion. — Rebelguys2 talk 17:47, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was rather hoping delinking it and blanking it would remove it, I also asked the guy who created it to get rid of it. There does not seem to be an option to rename categories. Anyway its rubbish so speedy deletion is the answer, thanks for your assistance. --Gibnews 22:18, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move article?[edit]

As an article on Gibraltarian people has recently been created, may I suggest moving this article to "Gibraltarian status" to avoid any confusion? --Gibmetal 77talk 23:23, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 Done --Gibmetal 77talk 17:51, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changes[edit]

I've edited the article to include a summary of the eligibility provisions (more complicated than I had thought) and to reflect the fact that the article is now about the legal status, rather than the people of Gibraltar. Please do try and edit and expand on what I have contributed. Thanks, Alboran (talk) 16:27, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
