Release date[edit]

Amazon is not a reliable source for release dates, especially on pages set up by 3rd-party vendors. The cited page used to say Jan. 5, 1993 but now says 2007.

Jan. 5, 1993 was a Saturday. Record companies almost never release anything on a weekend. Tuesdays were the standard album release days back then (in the U.S.), with Thursdays being big days for singles. Although sometimes singles would come on Tuesdays too.

The 7" debuted on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart on Jan. 9, 1993. This was the first issue since Dec. 26, 1992. The Jan. 9th issue would've gone to press the preceding weekend, with Thursday as the deadline date for content. So basically the charts in that issue were based on info for Dec. 27th thru Jan. 3rd. So the latest possible release date would have been either Dec. 27, 1992, or Jan. 3, 1993.

Record companies mostly take the last week of December off, so I would estimate Thursday, Jan. 3, 1993 as the most likely release date. Promos would've been circulating in the preceding weeks and would account for the 1992 copyright dates on many of the singles. It could also have been planned for a late 1992 release and then got delayed to January for one reason or another.

That said, my estimate is not a reliable source, either.
