Student rebellion

This is a very important section, in my opinion, and many other student's opinions. We HAVE been standing up to the staff when they are in the wrong, and we are damn proud of it. I did the senior run this year, even though it was strictly forbidden, and I feel honored to have continued that tradition. We DON'T like the principal, and neither do the parents/teachers (although, I can't prove the latter, as they value their jobs). This is VERY important to us, please refrain from removing it in it's entirety again. A rename wouldn't hurt though, as rebellion is such a dirty word for it. Thank you. --hack124x768 ('07 graduate)

Article Clean Up (Somewhat)

I have made this article more NPOV in accordance to Wikipedia's guidelines. I have also cleaned up parts of the article that were of poor quality. More cleaning is necessary to bring the article completely up to Wikipedia's standards.

Unsourced statements RE principal

I'm reverting the comments regarding Catherine Matthews being fired. I'm an alumnus of EHS and I live within walking distance of the school, but I haven't heard anything about this either by word of mouth or in the local media. Booing and Rumors

I have greatly expanded the section about recent events and renamed it, as the 2005-06 school year is now past. I am lost as to why the bit about Matthews's booing was removed. I am a student at EHS and have never heard any rumors about Matthews falsifying information either. -IAmTheLaw.Tarr 25 August 2006

Bomb threat

on Tuesday Sept 12. 2006 just after 11 am during the 2nd lunch period of a normal school day the EHS went into lockdown from a bomb scare, what was first thought of by many as a drill or prank was soon discovered as a bomb, Bomb squads were sent in, firefighters arrived, State patrol arrived along with much of the everett and Mukilteo police force. Building A was cleared only 30 minutes prior to the schools release at 2:00 PM (PST) 5:00 (EST).

I've searched both KING-TV and the Seattle Times's archives and have not found anything about this. If there was a bomb threat, it didn't make the regional news. Alemily 22:51, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

March 6 Fight

On March 6, 2006, shortly after classes let out at 2:00 PM, a trivial fight broke out between two hispanic girls on the southeast corner of 25th street and Colby Ave. The fight escalated and eventually involved several students, mostly hispanic, and several police officers. An 18 year old male, Rogelio Hernandez, allegedly pushed a female police officer to the ground while she was attempting to break up the fight. The police used pepper spray to quell the fight and arrested several students. The entire event was viewed by a large crown of students, who administrators claim were in a near riot state. After the fight, there were arguments over how exactly the fight transpired. Many students claimed that Hernandez did not push the officer down. One student caught the event on video with a cell phone, but the video is of too low a grade to be of any real use. Many students and parents claimed that the police used excessive force against the hispanic students. However, little weight was given to the student accounts of the events. According to Mayor Ray Stephanson, the primary sources of information were the police reports. However, many claimed that the police reports were biased in favor of the officers.

Fight and Bomb Threat

I just restored the section about the fight in March. I have a newspaper article right in front of me telling me about it. I also restored the section about the bomb threat, with very, very heavy editing. I am a student at Everett, and I can assure you that there was a bomb threat. It is true that it wasn't in the paper, and I actually wrote them a complaint about that. -IAmTheLaw.Tarr 20 September 2006.

Bomb threats are something that would have been on-air both with KING and KOMO and I see nothing in either station's archives, nor any of the regional newspapers. And Wikipedia needs actual verifiable information instead of hearsay. I can go and say a pink elephant lives on the roof of your school and I say so because I work in the WA State public education system, but there is nothing to prove it besides my word, which is what your bomb threat claim is without verifiable proof, your word as a student is unfortunately not verifiable Alemily 23:33, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I go to Everett, too. And there were in fact three bomb threats. The first took.. uber long and yes, every building was cleared and searched. It happened right when 2nd lunch was starting. The other two were very short, but they still happened, and there were police involved in every event. The reason they probably didn't release it to the papers and news is because they were nervous about parents, they had enough concerned calls as it was. I can assure you, there was a bomb threat. -Funkyrella

Rebuttal

First of all, I am fairly certain that I am the only student who has contributed anything of substance to the EHS article. <http://ithoughtathink.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_ithoughtathink_archive.html>. There is a link to something about the fight. I am well aware that it is less than credible, because newspapers like the Everett Herald don't keep archive articles online for long, but it is something if you really don't believe me. Moving on, I think that perhaps Alemity fails to realize that bomb threats are very commonplace at middle and high schools, and would not merit coverage on television unless an actual bomb was found. Granted, though, it is unusual that it did not make the Everett Herald. Next, I have no interest in slandering the principal and I have written not a single word of gossip. The fight was worthy of an article because it was a very major event in the school's recent history not because of the fight itself, but because of the outcry regarding racism and lack of police restraint which followed. Lastly, writing that I am a disgruntled student spreading gossip is itself slander. -IAmTheLaw.Tarr 20 October 2006.

Seagulls

It says "The school mascot is Sammy the Seagull", but are the teams still called the (Everett) Seagulls (as they were in 1968)? The article doesn't say so. Art LaPella 22:08, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Senior Run?

Protection

Agreed; several articles are now a smidge outdated, such as: information about EHS's Jazz Orchestra, the photo of the recently renovated Little Theatre, and there is no mention of the A Building's nearing its centennial (it is on the National Register of Historic Places). Additionally, I believe the article could stand to mention the school's extracurricular activities and developments therein, as well as that Catherine Matthews has recently earned a doctorate degree. Organize Student Sports

As of today, the Sports section just lists the athletic activities offered at the school. Can we organize a chart based on what seasons the sports are offered and the sport's sexual orientation for that season. AnthonySaephan (talk) 04:11, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
