Article re-write[edit]

After reading the Wall Street Journal article I decided to revise Deacon Blues in it's entirety. Thoughts, comments?EdJF (talk) 19:11, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One of the peculiar things about this classic song is that while the lyrics hint at failure and a broken dream - but without pushing it in your face as a listener - the music has an upbeat and romantic feel. The lyrics are half ironic but the music captures the youthful dream, a dream that Fagen and Becker shared with many millions of teenagers and young men at the time. It's lovingly nostalgic, but without saying this out loud. Strausszek (talk) 01:16, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cover version[edit]

This song Deacon Blues was covered by Bill Callahan and Bonnie Prince Billie on a single in 2020. It featured Bill McKay. It’s length is 7:18. Should these details be added here? Adrianjwilson (talk) 15:38, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
