The subject of this article has changed from Anthony Bliss Vicar of Meriden (as created) to his father Anthony Bliss Vicar of Portsmouth (during its 1st AfD) to both men (during its 2nd AfD), however its wikidata item has the date of death and Clergy of the Church of England database ID of Anthony Bliss (son). Is changing the subject of a wikipedia article and its wikidata item (Q4772125) in this way a problem and what needs to be done about it? I have looked through the policies and guidelines and asked the helpdesk without finding anything relevant.TSventon (talk) 09:21, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ad Orientem:, @The C of E:, I am looking for advice on whether there is any guidance on changing the subject of an article and of its wikidata item from one person to another person, so I am not looking for expertise on the CofE. As far as I know, changing the title of the article and the Wikidata item it corresponds to shouldn't cause any problems. The associated Wikidata items should still be connected to the article, even if you change the title of the article or the data. ~Oshwah~^{(talk) (contribs)} 23:13, 10 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, the Wikidata entry still contained information about the son. As the son was only briefly mentioned in the article, and as the article has mainly been about the father, the current state of the article appears to be correct. I have fixed the Wikidata entry at wikidata:Q4772125?action=history.
Regarding policies and guidelines, this is a mess. Per WP:IAR, if you believe that the son should have an article too, you can either create a new article using your own words, or you can copy content from the history of the father's article per WP:COPYWITHIN. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@ToBeFree:, thanks it seems the consensus is that there is no guidance on the question I was asking so all that needs to be done is change wikidata to agree with the article, which you have done. I don't want to start an article on the son, as he appears to be non notable and already has a mention in the existing article. I got involved when the article contained a mixture of facts about the two men, and that has now been dealt with.TSventon (talk) 19:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
