Lyrics = copyvio?

Isn't posting the lyrics to a song in violation of copyright? At least, I'm told that that's the line they use when they try to shut down lyrics sites.... - pne (talk) 12:13, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Songs says

Do not include the song's entire lyrics or embed the song's music video in the article unless you are certain they are in the public domain. Most lyrics and music videos will be copyrighted so we cannot legally put them in an article. It may be acceptable to use small portions of a song's lyrics or music video in the main body to illustrate a point. Lyrics and music videos that are in the public domain may be entered at Wikisource. Links to external websites that provide lyrics and music videos belong in the "External links" section

Fair use rationale for Image:Amanda-Boston.jpg

Surely there is more to say about the song than this?

The article currently describes the song thusly: "Amanda features a mix of acoustic and electric guitars forming a love ballad, a type of song Boston doesn't typically perform." That's all the article says about the music and lyrics. I am not sure what more to say, but clearly more than that needs to be said. The fact that it "features a mix of acoustic and electric guitars" doesn't distinguish it from any other Boston song— although the fact that it is a love ballad does make it an unusual addition to the Boston songbook. (In the classical sense, it is not really a ballad, since the lyrics don't tell a story, but it is a down-tempo love song, so in pop-music terms it qualifies as a ballad. 70.16.209.103 (talk) 17:41, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Recorded when?

The text states the song was written in 1980 and released in 1986. Seeing a recording of it was smuggled out in 1983, it might be interesting if the article mentioned both this and when it was recorded. Was the bootlegged version identical to the 1986 version?
