2006 BB special[edit]

How can Nikki be in this year's 8 out of 10 cats big brother special, as she will be in the house, if it is live?

It isn't live, its recorded 2 days before I believe (the wednesday). --Mark PEA 23:01, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New page[edit]

Is anyone thinking of a new page for the list of episodes with the like what someone already suggested, whos team won etc. Would make sense seeing as there are 7 season now ..

Thought[edit]

Can someone write a little bit about bill oddie's two appearances on 8 out of 10 cats, especially the first, in which he was shown up to be one of the most ridiculous people ever. And mention that thing at the end where it showed everyone else on the show hiding their faces in their hands because he was so strange. Thedreamdied 22:36, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why? Noodby 00:30, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Coming back to it, I do not know. Thedreamdied 22:29, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scoring[edit]

I have tagged the following with {{fact}}:

The points often do not add up right, but this is mainly because the show has to be edited to fit in its 25/30 minute slot.

Now, I noticed that the edition of 8 July 2005 was missing its entire "What Are You Talking About", given that between the recording on 6 July and its broadcast the list had become somewhat out of date (though this may have been more noticeable due to the six points or so having apparently appeared out of nowhere at the start), but as a more general statement? Sources please. 81.104.175.145 16:55, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

20 July episode[edit]

I wanted to ask everybody's opinion on adding a note about this week's episode of the series. As you know, the show is usually taped on Thursday night for transmission on Friday. However, this week's episode was taped on Saturday night, two days after the previous taping, as Jimmy Carr is performing at the Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. Because of this, the first game, "What are People talking about this week?" was altered to become "What are Teens talking about?" . This was the only time up to now where the show is not taped on the usual day. I wanted to put a small note stating this fact but before I do anything, I was advised to see what others think about this move. Do you guys think it would notable to add a statement that this week's episode (July 20th) was taped 5 days earlier than usual??

If it can be sourced, then it might be useful. Also, I'd like to see it phrased so that it didn't take up half the section. Then again, the 'recorded on Thursdays' is also unsourced! The JPStalk to me 18:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Show winners[edit]

I wonder who's won the most shows, Dave or Sean? Great show by the way.

Would it be a good idea to colour code to which team won each episode? Very much like the wiki entry for the episode list of Never Mind The Buzzcocks? Just throwing ideas around, but it might just be ridiculous. Unwisely (talk) 00:23, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There should be a table to show which team won each episode; Have I Got News for You is another example of a British TV show that has such a colour-coded table on its list of episodes page. F W Nietzsche (talk) 00:43, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Series 7 table[edit]

Does anyone know how to fix the series 7 table? I added yesterday's highlights show, but I couldn't get it in line with the rest of the episodes. F W Nietzsche (talk) 00:36, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ratings[edit]

Does anyone know how many viewers watch it, and how viewing figures have varied during the show's history? Many other Wikipedia articles about TV shows list viewing figures. F W Nietzsche (talk) 00:48, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two episodes in the same day?[edit]

I'm not sure about this source... doesn't it defeat the purpose of it being a topical quiz show? Sceptre (talk) 17:09, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This source is the website where you buy tickets from and as you can see on the dates on the pulldown menu there are two shows for the 18th scheduled for the 18th.

This pic from Jimmy Carr's Twitter reveals that one episode this series will be a "Movies Special" http://twitpic.com/71knx

Also, Just like two summers ago, Jimmy Carr is coming to Montreal in July to participate in the Just For Laughs festival. http://www.hahaha.com/en/artist_detail/259/4342/ So Jimmy will not be in England for the full 8 weeks. Remember the final episode in the 2007 series with Peaches Geldof? That Episode did not have a segment called "What are People talking about?", it was "What are Teens talking about?". That episode was pretaped. Usually the show is taped the night before airing, but in certain cases it's not.70.31.220.28 (talk) 22:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)samusek2[reply]

Uncut[edit]

Is it worth mentioning the length of the shows on the page; ie that previous series were 30mins; then the last series was 50mins, and the current series (August 2011) shows both versions. Kinda like QI and QIXL--TimothyJacobson (talk) 00:56, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Show title[edit]

Should this page perhaps be moved to 8 Out of 10 Cats? In official media the 'Out' is spelled with a capital O.

8 out of 10 Cats8 Out of 10 Cats – Channel 4 spell it like this, and this is how it appears on the EPG as well. Relisted. BDD (talk) 18:35, 8 May 2013 (UTC) Unreal7 (talk) 15:36, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. This is how it is spelled. Apteva (talk) 17:02, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. This is purely a matter of style. These are propositions of fewer than five letters, it's not the first word, so that's enough policy grounding to keep this where it is now. -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 06:23, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. If it's "purely a matter of style", why is it so important that an internal enwiki guideline must overrule what sources say? bobrayner (talk) 11:11, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Primary source is not the only source to rely on. There are non-primary sources that use either style. --George Ho (talk) 04:39, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Of course, how Channel 4 renders it is irrelevant; we should follow our MoS. But in this case, MOS:CT is clear: we capitalize the first word of compound prepositions, such as "out of". See Time Out of Mind and Get Off of My Cloud. Powers T 23:01, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Powers is right, "Out of" is correctly written with upper case. In style issues we refer to our manual of style, and Channel 4 uses their own. Jafeluv (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed split[edit]

I suggest we split the section 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown into its own article (under that name), along with the long list of episodes under "Specials". The section is getting as big as most of the other sections on the normal show and it seems a bit unbalanced to me to house this all on the 8 Out of 10 Cats page when the bits on the Countdown page are much shorter and seem to have remained outdated for a while. This idea has also been suggested by Drawoh46 at Talk:Countdown (game show)#8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Bilorv (talk) 12:55, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Own page, with a link from both here and from Countdown (game show). Drawoh46 (talk) 14:11, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also agree. With another series on the way the show should have a separate page now. Bbb2007 (talk) 16:13, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's enough consensus for me. I'll do the split now. Bilorv (talk) 08:24, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
