Mughar (Persian: موغار, also Romanized as Mūghār; also known as Moghār and Moqār)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Garmsir Rural District of Mahabad District, Ardestan County, Isfahan province, Iran.[4] The previous capital of the rural district was Mahabad.[5]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 1,272 in 340 households, when it was in the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,071 people in 323 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,139 people in 385 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]
In April of 2023, Garmsir and Hombarat Rural Districts, and the city of Mahabad were separated from the district in the establishment of Mahabad District, with the city as its capital.[8]
