Change direction?[edit]

I'm not joining this year, I think we've probably done all the bacon rivers, glaciers and mountains. May I suggest next year we move on to a slightly more inclusive topic? Atlas, Orange, or even Apple would each give us just as diverse a set of articles to work on, but without the cultural insensitivity involved in having a group of editors trying to get a string of porcine articles on the mainpage. OK if we chose Orange we'd be on thin ice in Catholic Ireland, but their objection isn't to the fruit or most of the other uses of the word. But I worry that some Jewish and Moslem editors would find bacon a somewhat non-kosher/halal project and feel that maybe we should move to something more ecumenical, and switch the subject each year so that we spread the benefit to larger parts of the pedia. Makes sense...there's only so much one can write about bacon. Or is there? Bacon flavored lip gloss could use some attention.
Regarding Jewish and Moslem editors, there are plenty of bacon varieties (turkey bacon, vegetarian bacon, and...um...hmm...) to write about.
But seriously though, thanks for the input. I think a large part of the reason why we do bacon each year is the whole bacon mania thing, and my thoughts are that as long as there is a good turnout of participants each year that manage to churn out a good amount of quality contributions, I think it's all right if we continue doing bacon. But at the same time, I very well see how it can get old and unnecessary, and how turning our focus elsewhere to another topic that has received less attention could result in greater productivity. In addition, I do believe that there has been a general decline in the amount of bacon-related content generated by participants over the years, just from glancing over the past Challenges. If anyone else would like to give their thoughts about this, that would be nice. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 13:06, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've created a Meat WikiCup if anyone is interested in joining. Doh5678 (talk) 20:00, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cornish cure recipe[edit]

I have a (historic) Cornish recipe collection, with a bacon-cure recipe in it. Where's the best place for it in Wikipedia? I will post it in Wikibooks, but cannot find a suitable place here. Archolman 00:04, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
