RE: Dravidian flags of yore

I noticed that there are suggestions for a Dravidian flag and map. On a historical note, before Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh came into formation during and after British rule were Dravidian as well as Indo-Aryan and Mon-Khmer kingdoms throughout South Asia. As for the Dravidian kingdoms, the following had the specific symbols for their flags.

  • Pandyas - Fish
  • Cholas - Tiger
  • Cheras - Bow
  • Pallavas - Lion
As far as i know, Boar was used as the emblem of Chalukya dynasty, whereas Pallavas used Bull and later LION, after Narasimhavarman's vatabi victory i also request to mention these in the corresponding articles of these dynasties -Simha_NV 09:05, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

According to Parthiban Kanavu, It was a Boar and was later changed to Lion--59.96.13.209 (talk) 03:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Indus script found in Tamil Nadu

You all should check out this article in The Hindu [[1]], stating that they found a artifact with the indus script, giving more evidence for Indus Valley Civilization being Dravidian and a tamil connection.--Kathanar 18:37, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Racial Wikiproject

This Wikiproject is racially motivated. The very word Dravidian (like Aryan) smacks of racial bigotry. 59.92.46.189 19:34, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Extending your logic: The word 'African' is racially motivated. Am I right?Praveen 21:17, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

What is the scope of this project?

The scope of the project as on the project page read,

Now can somebody explain to me what the following terms mean..

  • Dravidian people
  • Dravidian civilisation

If you cannot satisfactorily explain this with relevant and notable sources, I will be nominating this for deletion. Thanks. Sarvagnya 01:18, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Hellooo... anybody here? Sarvagnya 20:57, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Its been less than a day.....patience.

For the participants of Wikiproject Dravidian Civilization my question is what is the best response or way in dealing with trolls on wiki?--Kathanar 01:23, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Article on Dr. Kumar Bahuleyan suggested

It had been suggested to make a article on Dr. Kumar Bahuleyan. He is a neurosurgeon from Chemmanakary, Kerala who overcame great odds (came from a poor dalit background). He then turns around and donates 20 million dollars to this village to give back to the people who raised and help him. I think its a worthy piece if someone wants to pursue it. Check out this article [2] which says a little a bit about him, as well as google him.--Kathanar 16:50, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I have added this to the Noticeboard for Dravidian projects here. Wiki Raja 19:06, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

The Pallava userbox looks great! If you could now change the link name from {{User:Narasimhavarman10/Userboxes/Pallava Empire}} to {{User Pallava Empire}} it can be placed in the Userboxes page. Regards. Wiki Raja 19:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
This userbox has been added to the userbox page. Wiki Raja 21:11, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion

How about creating sub projects such as Dravidian people and Dravidian languages. These will not be as controversal as adding Dravidian civilization banner on all Dravidian related articles ? Just my suggestion to avoid edit warring and related problems. Thanks Taprobanus 21:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Todo lists

Should we specify which wiki link needs cleanup in according to Wikiproject Dravidian Civilisation.--killerserv 09:14, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
