Spelling

Done, but only because it is now uniform with the spelling of the opening paragraph in the article itself, it is general consensus to not change Commonwealth or North American spellings in articles as long as they are used correctly as both are considered right whether the topic is North America/Commonwealth or not. -- SmthManly / ^ManlyTalk / ^{ManlyContribs} 21:17, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Not that it's a big deal, but I disagree with your hesitancy. Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English says "If there is a strong tie to a specific region/dialect, use that dialect." Although she worked in Hollywood, Leigh was very English actress. Though none of the examples illustrating this in the MOS are people articles, I have always presumed it applied to them. Alright, I suppose you are correct. I would've changed it anyway, but I've seen anons and such go out of their way to change all the spellings in an article to British or North American even when the article is more tied to the spelling that it already has, but especially in articles that don't have any specific tie, like let's say, Atlantic Ocean has all British spellings, and an anon will come back and change it all North American spellings, really, British spellings are just as correct as the NA ones so there's no need to go through and change it all, usually I revert them and do the same for the opposite, and I have tended to do it to every article, even ones who have closer to ties to one side, but I guess since she is tied closer to the UK than the US, then you're right.., either way, I changed it for article uniformity as the article itself uses theatre not theater, so then this paragraph also should. -- SmthManly / ^ManlyTalk / ^{ManlyContribs} 15:45, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree with your sentiment. I only change a spelling if it's one AmE standing out in a sea of BrE (less so for vice versa, simply because I'm less likely to notice). Thanks again. jnestorius^(talk) 18:54, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
