Kickoff

Folks, good to see this notice board established. Look forward to working on it with you. Some comments:

  1. Why is this "wikipedians'" rather than "Wikipedians'"? The other notice boards are in general capitalized "W".
  2. Should the "Current events" be put in Wikinews project?
  3. Is there a way to create an RSS feed of the "Current events" topics, so other HK-related sites could simply put the news headlines from here in their site. That could be a good way to draw attention to the HK topics.
  4. You may be interested in a new site created to discuss HK issues - http://www.chattergarden.com/

Thank you. If you don't mind please sign up as a participant. Replies to the comments,
  1. Interesting indeed. At Category:Regional wikipedian notice boards we can see that the choice is divided.
  2. Sure, but how could it be done?
  3. no idea..
  4. Should it be linked from WP:HKWNB and Current events in HK and Macao?

Hong Kong, Macao and mainland China

There has been a discussion over the treatment of listing of topics related to Hong Kong and Macao at the Airlines destinations, Statuses of Hong Kong and Macao and Airlines destinations, Hong Kong and Macao sections of Huaiwei's discussion page. And recently there were votes at WP:RM, WP:CFD and WP:TFD over the titles of some categories and templates. Here would perhaps be a nice place to have the issues that concern Hong Kong settled and ressolved. — Instantnood 14:46 Feb 21 2005 (UTC)

Proposed title name changes for Lines/Stations

There's some title name are created with the wrong title, and proposed to renamed to a suitable title name. Since some title name are already exists, we should divided into two stages to move them.

Phase 1

Firstly, these pages are proposed to change to mininize the confusion between the station and train lines.

Phase 2

After all of the incoming page from their page are changed, these stations are also going to change to avoid confusion.

I hope I can do some of that la..... :) --Shinjiman 18:43, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I prefer having lines titled Island Line, MTR for MTR lines, and KCR Ma On Shan Rail for KCR lines. For stations I prefer Kwun Tong Station, MTR and Tai Wai Station, East Rail-Ma On Shan Rail (with Tai Wai Station, East Rail, Tai Wai Station, Ma On Shan Rail and Tai Wai Station, Ma On Shan Rail-East Rail redirect to it). For MTR-KCR interchanges, Kowloon Tong Station, East Rail-MTR, and again, with redirects. — Instantnood 01:56, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)
Most of Articles are alreadynamed to XXX (MTR) or YYY (KCRC), and I've lazy to change that one by one because they are the presisting Articles. It costs more time to rename them one by one. :) --Shinjiman 08:31, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
A bot will do. By the way, you may be interested to take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject London and Wikipedia:WikiProject New York City Subway. — Instantnood 14:10, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)
Hi! I am the user that has changed the names of the stations on the MTR stations on the West Island Line. I want you to know one thing --- and it is that my friend's uncle is the MTR executuve Tsin Kwo Fung. I and some other MTR rail friends had a telephone call with one of his aides and he told us that the names of the stations would be eventually changed to Shek Tong Tsui and Kennedy, not Kennedy Town since names like Jordan are used, rather than Jordan Town. As for Shek Tong Tsui, he told us that names of stations are given from the districts they serve, rather than from public infrastrcutures. Thank You. --MTR Rail Friend 08:31, 17 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I would like to wait for the official nomenclature for the stations. Now the 3 preliminary names are stated on the web and official documents. I think we should not change those names unless MTR announces their decision. --Xavier Fung 09:19, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Current events in Hong Kong and Macao

We need people to keep the page up-to-date. Can anybody help? — Instantnood 19:36, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)

Why don't we set up this project in Chinese Wikipedia?

Somebody fancy doing it in Chinese Wikipedia? (I'm busy for the next two or three weeks...) Patrickov 15:30, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Is there any regional wikipedians' notice boards out there? — Instantnood 17:46, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)
If there is (or at least I knew there is), why did I put up a suggestion here? Patrickov 15:09, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I don't participate much at the Chinese version, and I am not sure if it is necessary to have this sort of notice board out there. You may ask around at that version and get some feedbacks. :-) — Instantnood 14:35, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

HK wikipedians' notice board vs HK Wikipedians' notice board

Seems Timwi changed the title name, and it's not the first time that changed the title. And we should decide the name we're using with the small letter w, or the CAPITAL LETTER W. :S --Shinjiman 18:22, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The choice among RNWBs are divided, and I guess HK is not the only one Timwi has moved (see Quebec or Russian, the Canadian one might have been moved back and forth too.). — Instantnood 21:41, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)
I think this needs to leave a private message to Timwi to addressing this problem, and discuss about the title of the RWNBs. It's non trivial that Timwi changing its name directly without any agreements by other people. --Shinjiman 10:58, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I have dropped notices at those notice boards. I guess it would be better for the folks of those notice boards to decide whether to capitalise or not. — Instantnood 14:35, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

Third opinion requested on "Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination"

A section in HKALE regarding a parody event started by candidates was added by Carlsmith on 22 April with further revisions, but was deleted repeatedly by Mcy_jerry. Mcy_jerry argues that uncomfirmed materials that do not have "perfect" accuracy should not be on Wikipedia, while Carlsmith argues that failure to include the issues and events related would unable the article to be more comprehensive. Mcy_jerry has been using rude tatements and all caps against Carlsmith, and a third review is requested on Wikipedia:Third_opinion, preferably those having some background knowledge of Hong Kong. Carlsmith 01:39, 17 May 2005 (UTC) [reply]

I'll take a look into it when I'm free some time. Feel free to let me know (well, briefly) what's going on, especially what was wrong with the examiniation this year. — Instantnood 15:28, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

Wanna know what the impolite personal attacks are. Obviously someone first pooh-poohed my opinion, and later on mistakenly regarded the meaning of certain wordings of my later responses, filled with sheer dismay, as "impolite critics". Well, all cap was, unfortunately, utilised so as to accentuate the parts of initial responses initially ignored by CarlSmith--the worst scenario merely to gain the slightest sympathy from a reader who confused the centrepiece of the whole scheme of thing. With a little luck, though, Carl Simth did finally look at my points and make constructive reference which should deserve a high degree of appreciation.

Plus, the template thing. That's certainly of no revenge actions. Templates were directly laid out against certain sections of misleading, confusing, and undefined contents, which were remedied at length. My ignored arguements have clearly states such blenders.

--Jerry Crimson Mann 14:41, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute resolved, but other editors are welcomed to take a look at the page and improve on it. --Carlsmith 09:46, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Glad that it is finally resolved. — Instantnood 14:35, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

I am going to do some prelimery works on the WikiProjects. Feel free to contact me if you've got any ideas. :-D — Instantnood 14:35, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

And where you got your sudden inspriration to kickstart this thing again from? :D --Huaiwei 19:03, 31 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The WikiProject red links are there for months, and I have been working on them for several months, and testing by making use of the preview function. — Instantnood 15:40, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)
