TFA blurb review[edit]

Philip I Philadelphus was a Seleucid King of Syria in the early years of the 1st century BC. His father was Antiochus VIII, who was assassinated in 96 BC and was succeeded as king by Philip's uncle Antiochus IX, who was killed and succeeded by Philip's oldest brother Seleucus VI, in turn driven to his death by his predecessor's son Antiochus X in 94 BC. Philip declared himself king jointly with his twin brother Antiochus XI. In 93 BC Antiochus XI took Antioch and became the senior king, while Philip remained in a base in Cilicia. Antiochus X returned and killed Antiochus XI that year. Philip allied with his brother, the ruler of Damascus, Demetrius III, who took Antioch after Antiochus X's death and besieged Philip, who allied himself with the Parthians and took the capital, becoming the senior king of Syria. Philip's death year is unknown, but probably before 75 BC; Roman authorities in Syria continued to issue coins with Philip's portrait until 13 BC. (Full article...)

Pinging Attar-Aram syria; we're doing blurbs for articles promoted at FAC in June, July and August 2018. Thoughts and edits are welcome. - Dank (push to talk) 00:48, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I edited the text as I saw some inaccuracies. Cheers.--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 17:35, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about this one, I'm thinking of recusing. It's 1061 characters now, which is too long, but it's also too complicated. Writing a blurb isn't about cramming as many who-killed-who facts into 1025 characters as you possibly can. If you (or any of the supporters) want to rewrite it, I'll take another look. - Dank (push to talk) 20:16, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Its less about cramming and more about accuracy. Before I edited, it said that Philip attacked Damascus to take it from Demetrius III, but this never happened. Philip did that to Antiochus XII only after the demise of Demetrius III. It also stated that Philip became sole king after the death of Antiochus XI... The kingdom had no sole king for the last 50 years of its existence and Philip had two other rivals after the death of his twin. Therefore, its better to take this out unless someone can write it in a simpler language but be careful about the events.Bold text
Pinging Johnboddie ... can you fix this? - Dank (push to talk) 20:49, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks John. 1023 characters now. Does that work for you, Attar-Aram syria? - Dank (push to talk) 00:04, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. Thanks all.--Attar-Aram syria (talk) 00:12, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
